I think she was very kind and listened to all points.

Judge Curley conducts himself professionally. Unfortunately, I am one of those people that will fall through the cracks- denied SSDI but unemployable with my health conditions. Keep in mind that just because the vocational expert says no occupations fit your specific conditions and situation does not mean you will get approved.

Angry Veteran
Judge: Amber Downs

100 percent disabled veteran who went in front of Mrs. Downs. After the hearing she is attempting to enter an opinion that goes against everything my files show in attempt to deny me benefits. The fact she is entering this after the hearing so my lawyer can not cross examine this random expert shows how sneaky she is. Looking at her numbers she approves close to the least amount of people in both states that she operates. According to the law ALJ judges are suppose to give great weight to VA disability findings. Instead, she is looking for any way to deny me. I have been in contact with state legislators who are investigating the matter. It is a sad world when a veteran risks their life for a country and returns a shell of what they once were only to have to fight for a judge to believe in an already VA determined 100 percent disability. This needs to change and I will help change this law. We need new laws to support our wounded veterans and ALJ judges need to be held accountable for going against the SSDI veteran laws. This practice is a disgrace on veterans. What she did in my opinion is a disgrace and I am glad the state is looking into this matter to help other veterans in the future. We deserve better. Good luck to anyone seeing this judge who is a veteran..you have an uphill battle.

What's the point if commenting if they don't read it. Way more medical evidence than I needed. I was told by my attorney that She was under the impression the judge didn't like me. Also she gave my dr no weight. Looked down upon. A gross abuse of authority. I was told by my attorney that the law failed me!!!! I guess they can use my tax dollars to cut more ducking welfare checks/food stamps.

Well I just had my hearing and I was so nervous! She seems very nice, cross examiner looking very serious but I was able to get a laugh out of him! Lol I will post my denial/approval in 60-90 days. She's new , a young lady. FYI don't try to represent yourself because it's confusing.

I agree with the 1/12/2012 post, except she may have gotten worse in her older age in Richmond. Ugh.

I feel she was very unfair during the hearing. She did not take my disability into consideration and she pretty much looked down upon me. She abused her position to inflict pain upon my life with her ruling and she caused me much suffering and clouded it with her legal mumbo jumbo. I hope she is happy to have caused a person to suffer as she did.

Judge Comisky made me feel at ease during the process explaining what would take place step by step. I actually felt more at ease with the Judge than I did with my lawyer.

Judge Sweeney was very compassionate and fair. I could not have asked for a better judge and I'm very happy he officiated over my case.

I believe this judge holds resentment toward some attorneys and that determines the outcome of your case, she throwa out RFC's,and medical evidence for reasons such as she believes doctors are "helping you out" or they "didnt do enough", all her personal nastiness, NOT THE LAW she is suppose to be following. Xrays, MRI's dont count for anything as well with her.

Had 3 video-teleconference hearings in a row with Judge Sweeney. Thorough, professional, courteous and compassionate. The only problem was the remote location. The local SSA office hosting the hearings didn't open until 9:00, yet the first hearing was scheduled to start at 9:00. Nothing that the judge can control. He was patient and tolerant about our getting started late because of SSA's new office hours.

If I get denied there is no way I could be angered at this Judge. He and his reporter and also the vocational expert done all they could to make me comfortable. I'm deaf so it couldn't have been easy for them to communicate with me without sign language. Had my hearing 3 weeks ago, I hope I get approved but if I don't, it will certainly be because of something I didn't do right or that was necessary. He seems too compassionate of a man to just deny without good reason and I an always keep trying. Best of luck to those who are waiting. :)

I had my hearing on Sept. 20,2012 with Judge Craig. He was very professional and caring at the same time . Made me feel at ease immediately , as did the reporter. I was impressed at the kindness that the Judge and reporter showed. The reporter (would love to know her name!) came to me prior to the hearing and made sure how to pronounce my name correctly. My attorney advised me to arrive 45 minutes early as this Judge did not waste time. The hearing was scheduled for 10:15. To my surprise my attorney and I were called into the conference room and it began at 9:40. Lasted about 25 minutes. The VE was on a phone line and testified via teleconference. As nervous as I was before the hearing, I was delighted at how comfortable they made me feel . Judge Craig then advised me that I would be notified by mail as to his decision. Very satisfied with the entire process.

Miserable. Prepare for a denial. She is the Chief ALJ in St Pete, is never in a good mood, and denies everyone lately. Have record complete or you will be scolded. Brace yourself.
