We just received my husbands favorable letter in the mail and it has been along time coming... I just wanted to put a response out there that this judge is not all bad news like I have been reading. He really listened, asked questions, and I tell you one thing, Judge Condon is thorough, he goes through your file with a fine tooth comb, He knew my husbands case from the time of his first injury and surgery, he knew every doctor, every surgery, every procedure and everything that he has been through.. He literally knew his file from top to bottom.. Expect to wait a little longer for his decision because like I said he goes over everything ... It was 45 days from my husbands hearing to receive the decision... We couldn't be anymore pleased with Judge Condon!! He literally changed our lives.. The last few years have been excruciating.. Unfortunately my husband will never be free of his pain or his other conditions and will have to battle this the rest of his life BUT we can do this with a little less stress knowing we have some room to breath now...

The worst judge by far in the Grand Rapids office. Routinely rejects treating physician opinions on the most specious of reasons. I only wish he could experience health problems to maybe develop a hint of empathy. No stars.

Mrs. Holmes is a very kind and compassionate judge. I recently went in for my hearing and she is a very good listener and ask questions that pertain to your disability and how it effects you. She does not try an minimize your limitations what so ever. She is very awesome and sweet and not a scary person at all. I have a social problem and she did not come across scary at all where it put me in one of my panic modes. If you have an attorney representing you I wouldn't even waste the expense on them cause she will do all the questioning to the ve is their is one present and she believes your testimony is truthful... I highly recommend her and don't even know what the outcome of my decision is but it is what it is. She does her job very well and I appreciate her in all aspects.... Kristi D.

People please know your rights.. We will parish for a lack of knowledge... The judges will be kind and they will appear to be concern, but truthful they are not.. They will fixed your file to agree with what they want to say... Justice is not for all.. You have have 15 years of treatment that shows the illness continue to get worse , but he will find one thing out of 100 years of medical records to base his ruling off. People read your rights, go to your congressman , right the president about how corrupt SSI system is.. I am not blaming the judges because the are a victim of this system too. The have to go against the ethic training and deny you so their number of approval is low.. They want to continue to feed their family.. The best way to expose corruption in the SSI system is to take it to new press , protest, have rallies until your cry is heard..

I just received my unfavorable decision and I also wonder if this person is a doctor. My doctor filled out paperwork for me and I was still denied. He was profiling me from the minute i walked in the room and the first question he asked was "Do you receive food stamps" which I do not. We have NEVER lived off the state. I was not asking for WELFARE benefits, i was asking for SSDI (INSURANCE). I have numerous issues and he dismissed every one of them saying they were not severe enough. I invite this judge to my home for one week and see how my disease is affecting me on a daily basis. It is slowly killng me, my disease is a DEATH SENTENCE. All these young kids running around getting SSI cause they can't handle life can get it over and over again.

I am not sure how she is able to sleep at night by denying a person disability that truly needs it when there are hundreds, if not thousands, of people out there that abuse the system because they are too lazy to work. My lawyer presented over 200 pages of medical records (most were from a hospital after a near fatal car accident) that left me disabled. Those records even proved that I died on the OR table and the doctors had to bring me back. I guess the old saying is true that a few bad apples spoils it for the whole bunch. The government paid occupational person that was there doesn't know anything about me and says that I can work (she gets paid to say that a person can work), which I know I can't. If either of them were in my shoes and in that car the day of the accident, they would both know that I am unable to work.

11/3/2015 9:57:16 AM

To Judge Stephen Marchioro: He was very respectful at the hearing and the hearing went good with the career counselor. When reading my denial of papers sent to me 2 months later, there seemed to be confusion about my certain medical conditions. The Judge did use certain terms that were incorrect while making his decisions. A little bias to his outlook that did not make sense when the hearing was different then the letter and facts sent to me. The Judge was nice in the court room but did get some of the information mixed up which hurt me and with his decision of this case. These facts were not correct and some of my new medical information is submitted. There should be a better outlook about me as the Judge made decisions based upon some wrong outlook as compared to the actual situations. Very disappointed in his viewpoint as a hard worker in the working world for over 15 years providing healthcare and caring about people. This needs to be addressed as the information was not correct to make a decision about, nor was the newer medical information finished.

Although I was nervous and wasn't sure what to expect, my interview went pretty good, only to BE DENIED 4 MONTHS later. This judge has NO idea how her decision has impacted my entire life. I'm ALWAYS IN PAIN, not to mention, i suffer from depression and now I have to wait 15-18 MORE MONTHS for this next appeal! Just because I'm "young" it doesn't take away from the FACT that I'll have 6 screws in my lower back forever. Ive been fighting my case for almost 4 yrs already, Its unfair and even tho I'm only 30, I ACTUALLY have a medical problem and SUFFER from chronic pains and Muscle Spasms. I didn't choose this life. Yet I get denied because I'm to young and I speak well enough to find a "sit down" job!!! ARE YOU SERIOUS !!!!! What does my age and my vocabulary have to do with my PAINNNNNN !!!!!! PLEASE PRAY FOR ME BECAUSE I DON'T DESERVE THIS !!! (Tears) IN JESUS NAME, MY CASE IS FAVORABLE !!!!!!!

I just received my "Unfavorable" decision in the mail and after reading it, I wonder exactly what a person has to do - especially after the Veterans Administration rated me as "Unemployable". I made it very clear in my testimony that I cannot work set hours. My body tells me when I can and cannot do things - ANYthing. I cannot sit in a position required to type (or otherwise work on a computer) for more than 20 or 30 minutes at a time, after which I need to recline or lay down for an hour or so before I can again sit in that position. I cannot stand for more than a couple of minutes, for which reason I only shower two or three times a week (it hurts to get in and out of the shower and it's excruciating to stand long enough to get clean). I also have trouble sleeping because of the pain in my back and have to take sleep medication to get any sleep at all. I take the medication between 4:00 and 6:00 PM and when I wake up, I'm drowsy and unable to function with any lucidity until about 10:00 in the morning, sometimes noon. I don't know how in the world I am expected to be able to find an employer who would hire me under those conditions. I received notice, via phone, from the Veterans Administration (on May 27, 2015) that my disability status had been moved to UNEMPLOYABLE due to my injuries. This notice was faxed immediately to Judge Condon's office on June 2 (the day I received the written notice), but it is not cited as one of the exhibits used in making his "Unfavorable" decision even though the decision was written on June 9. One would think that if the VA rates me as "Unemployable", that in itself would verify the fact that I'm disabled and can no longer work. I'm at a loss to understand the "Unfavorable" decision that has been handed down in my case. Now, after having already waited over two years to begin receiving disability, I'll have to appeal - again - and wait several more months - again - for the next step to finalize. It's very frustrating.

I had my hearing with Judge Sharda Singh on 12/22/14. Right off the bat, I could tell this woman had an attitude and didn't want to to be there that morning. She would ask me the same questions over and over again, even after I answered her. My lawyer had requested for me to be awarded a "Closed Period of Benefits" and after I gave her my testimony, my hearing was done. I finally got my answer from her office today 02/09/15 and it was a denial. I feel that her decision was not fair and was offended at some of ger notes in my letter. 12 pages of insults towards my character...so rude! To anyone reading this, please pray to God, Buddah or whomever you worship, that you don't get her as your ALJ.

Judge: Reni Barnett-Jefferson

ROBE-ITIS or Inferiority Complex?!?!?! This woman was excellent as an Attorney Advisor (and I do not use the word 'excellent' lightly) but they gave her a robe and she turned into a different person (and that's putting it nicely). Not only does she not make sound decisions, she delays her 'Unfavorables' putting Claimants at a MAJOR disadvantage when it comes to DLIs and AC decisions. Something must be done. Sadly, she is a complete disaster as a judge.

Remember the song "Back Stabber"? This guy "smiles in your face" and comes across real nice and sympathetic in the hearing, but is not interested in what a person has to say about how life goes. He picks and chooses what evidence he likes, and seems to think you need to be in a wheelchair, at least, to get benefits. He has no appreciation for how much pain can impact functioning. Be ready to appeal if you are unfortunate enough to be in from of him.

Judge: James J Kent
12/16/2013 5:20:24 PM

I received my decision. I feel after reading it that he gave greater weight to the Social Security evaluation doctor than to my own doctor who sees me regularly. I have researched online and this alone seems to be the number 1 factor in getting the council to remand this back to the ALJ for another decision. Judge Kent does contradict himself a few times in my report. He also states that I stated something which I know I did not and never would have. I even had documentation on me that day which he never requested to view which would have also shown that I did not state what he says I stated to him. he also has provided me with a sex change several times in his decision, by referring to me as "her" on numerous occasions in my report. I have never been a her, never wanted to try to become a her either. I am not sure why he feels I need to become one or that I am one. He did not take into consideration that my condition is one in which it becomes worse over time hence degenerative.

Not sure what to think of this guy. prior to my hearing I was informed by my attorney that this judge has a very high approval rate. during my hearing I felt intimidated. After my hearing my attorney tells me she can not see how I could not have won just wait for the decision to come in the mail. Still waiting. I do not have the same level of confidence. Because I am not sure how to feel about this hearing as of yet since I do not have the decision, I am going to rate right down the middle and give him the benefit of the doubt.

This guy doesn't have a clue. That he has been appointed to this type of position without having any background in Social Security law is a testament of all that's wrong with the federal judiciary. Unfortunately, the bottom line here is that he simply isn't very smart. His decisions repeatedly ignore the issues critical to just resolution of the claimants' respective claims and typically go off on irrational and bizarre tangents. He has no idea how to conduct a hearing in a timely manner and is incapable of focusing in on questions that bear some materiality to the issues at hand. God help you if you draw this moron as your judge because you will need all the hope He can provide you.

Still waiting on final decision because my case went to "Quality Review" after the Judge's decision. Judge Peterson helped me to feel comfortable at my hearing. Do yourself a favor and be completely honest. Give him the benefit of the doubt because I got the feeling he knows when you're blowing smoke. I was "totally" honest about my being Bipolar and how it's been hard for me to keep a job because of my mood swings and personality disorder. I was so nervous. I take different medications ( 7 ) to manage my Bipolar. He asked a lot of questions but I didn't feel irritated as I normally do ( part of my illness) when someone asks me " a lot" of questions. I'm also a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and my illness has been really ******* my relationships with family, friends and employers. Because Judge Peterson really was kind respectful and courteous, I didn't feel that way at all. Even though his case approval rating is less than 50%, I really feel good about my outcome.

Judge Inouye has rapidly established herself as a rising star among the federal administrative law judge corps. Her vast prior litigation experience has been a boon to her acknowledged superior ability in bringing out the truth in cases that she hears. Cases typically present inconsistencies between testimony and the medical record and other evidence. Judge Inouye is recognized as having a superb ability to resolve these inconsistencies in a manner that follows the law applicalbe to disability cases. Of course, not all claimants are happy as some are under the impression that merely applying for disability guarantees that payments will soon follow. In her difficult job, Judge Inouye's top-notch judicial temperment stands her in good stead. I see the above comments came from another stooge from SSA or perhaps the judge herself either way take it worth a grain of salt.

Judge Inouye knows the law and applies it to the facts before her. That's her job and she does it well.

37 year old former public defender gets appointed to the federal bench? Hardly experienced in SSA law. She's fulfilling the SSA mission to deny every possible claim. Why bother seeing your own doctor for years on end. She rejects their opinions in favor of some hack doctor who couldn't get a real job so works doing SS evals for $150.00 a pop. Just the latest in SSA's Ayn Randian-esque implementation of disability law. Such a shameful and disgraceful reflection of our era's governance. How many people with Stage III cancer, undergoing chemo for a year, are actively working full time? You are a despicable person, Jessica.

I really was satisfied with Judge Turner. She seemed to be a very caring person and I was really nervous going into the court room. She helped me to relax by her smiling face. Thank You Judge Turner for hearing my case today.

Judge: Robert A Lynch

Mr. Lynch really screwed up my workers comp[ case, he did not ever have even a paralegal, left me after 7 YEARS to go be a Judge in MI, had to find another attorney towrap up my case, do not understand why he got to be a Judge and i got nearly nothing, spinal cord injury, as is he, rude assistant in his office. Glad he left.

We are still waiting for a decision, but he was very polite and had reviewed the file prior to the hearing. He treats both the claimant and attorneys with respect.

Judge Hart is very professional and knowledgeable. She has no political agenda and decides each case on its own merits.

Judge: Craig R Petersen
11/9/2012 7:13:47 PM

Judge Petersen asked questions, but he allowed me time to respond. He asked another question if he didn't fully understand my initial response. He was mannerable and did not intimidate me as the others I have read about. He did not talk down to me and I did not feel degraded. He was not rude and was very professional.

Judge: Greg Holsclaw

Sort of new in Lexington ODAR. Seems fair, efficient, friendly but business like in hearings. Can be tough in decisions, so close case outcome very uncertain.

Judge: James J Kent

this judge comes off as a nice person but he really isn't. my case was denied because he didn't pay attention to my medical files and i was denied. if you get this judge dont be fooled..

This is a large case load! This judge should be commended. I wish our judges down south were as productive instead of playing golf or beating their children.

Judge: Janice E Shave
3/9/2012 7:05:07 AM

Judge Shave seems very nice. I do not approve of comments that she made about my case. She got information about me that when she blerted out a question about something I said to a Disability Psych. that did a interview with me was way not correct. I feel that she should not attack someone in that way. What was said is Depervation of Character and was way out of line. I would like to see that report and set the Record Straight. She took 3 different accurances and 3 different people and combined it into one incident with 1 person. Which leads me to believe that she was either fed the wrong information by someone that was not listening completely or she intentional did it. I would like to think she would not do that. She stated that she was not medicaly qualified to look at pictures that go with the report made by a Qualifed Phyician and Surgion who took the pictures of my insides, So my question would be how can you be qualified to do a Medical judgment as to if a person is truly in pain or disabled. I feel that judges that sit on this panel should have a medical background in order to get the right decision. Other wise this is a true injustice to the persons she or any other judge that has the authority to make the decision as to how much pain or the nature of the persons true disability.
