This judge seems courteous but she definately ignores the facts of the case. My wife had several doctors treat her which included three spinal surgeries . There are several more to come. My wife had to endure the denials of two judges before Barber. She runs with constant pain and suffering and disability for several years and the judge can't understand the facts and apparently hasn't done the research . Complete fail. Disgusting .

I've had several hearings with Judge Barber. She is very friendly, compassionate and has a good sense of humor. She often comes across as a bit discombobulated and disorganized in her approach and questioning, but she is always professional and treats claimants and reps well. I think the most important issue for her is credibility. She zeros in on any inconsistencies with testimony, histories given to doctors, etc. Your case needs to be very clean on that score or she will deny you. She is very conservative and will only pay really strong cases.

As far as being an ALJ Judge goes she is an awesome lady. During the hearing she came off as a very kind and easy going person. Very down to earth.

You must have some really bad cases to be denied by Judge Barber. She has been really straight forward with all my clients and I have NO problem with apperances before her

I'm sorry that your experience wasn't a good one. I did kind of worry when I came here and seen her approval rate vs. her disapproval rate. I was told that I could not have a nicer judge. She seemed like she understood for the most part, and I hope that reflects i her decision and she doesn't change her mind upon review. She did say she was backed up, I hope that doesn't mean that it will take even longer than normal.

The decision may be written by an attorney or paralegal but it is the ALJ's signature attached and he or she is responsible for its content. I'm glad she was nice to you but I would not be fooled she is a negative ALJ and is prone to mistakes.

I just met with this judge on the 2nd. Being severely agoraphobic it was hard enough to leave the house let alone sit in a strange place and try to explain to strangers to the best of my ability what was/is wrong with me without claming up and panicking/puking/crying. She had a very professional demeanor and was very patient and seemed to really listen. For that I am thankful and consider myself lucky. I also wonder what the comment pertaining to the "writing of the decision" means, considering I was under the impression that most decisions are written by a completely different person only using an outline of the reasons the judge decided deemed someone "disabled".. Maybe I am incorrect on that one, hmmm.

I hope she ends up being one of the better ALJ's in that office. However, lets keep in mind ALJ Pappenfus and ALJ Schum deny most everything and ALJ Griffith is always in a bad mood even when he pays claims.

This ALJ seems very kind. Yes she is new, but I think she will end up being one of the better ALJ's in this office simply due to her compassion.

ALJ is fairly new and doesn't have a clue in terms of how to conduct a hearing. The actual wording of her decisions reflect her lack of knowledge. She will get remanded often if the AC does their job
