Charles Dorman is a retired Brigadier General from the Marine Corp. His military history is reflected in his approach to his work as an ALJ by his sense of obligation to duty. I had the pleasure of being before him many times during his time in Tallahassee. He was always very prepared. No matter how large the file, he was familiar with every page of the claimant’s file. Although he didn’t have a background in Social Security Law, he learned the law quickly. I did not always agree with his determinations, but when he denied a case, his denials where well founded. Obviously, not all cases are clear cut, and could go either way.
