I was very intimidated by this entire process and Judge Kays almost insisted that I find a good attorney and he postponed my first hearing. The fact that he cared enough to give me advice made him more human to me. By the second hearing I was less intimidated as he calmly and gently asked me questions (hearing by phone). He was very patient with me as I no longer have the capacity to articulate every thought and idea as I once did. I will always remain grateful to him for his compassion towards me in my darkest hour. I don’t know how anyone could say this judge has no compassion. Look at all the cases he has approved. I guess every case is different. Mine was a difficult one. But he understood.
He was kind and compassionate during the hearing. He clearly knew all the facts of my case—which contained a lot of information. He was very professional and fair regarding the disposition, which he completed quickly. He is a great Judge.
Kays is DANGEROUSLY INCOMPETENT.
POS. I had a heart attack in June. This so called judge actually cited my missing of appointments in June as a reason to stop my benefits. All was based on a 5 minute quiz by some shrink I have never seen before or since. Railroaded. Kay’s is either incompetent, or simply has bad judgement. He is horrible.
Judge John Kay’s ? Was very understanding and fair.He know his stuff and also take the time to listen to you. I Did not get any negative feed back from him I was honored to have him as a judge…
Judge John Kays was the worst experience I have ever had with our legal system. He did not allow me to explain my situation, in fact the only thing he said to me “on the record” was “good morning”. He then went on to converse with my attorney and inform her that he had one report from an urgent care doctor that SS sent me to for evaluation in which he was referencing..out of 8 doctors and 1 of them a specialist at a very well known Clinic, he was going to make his decision off of that one doctor and deny my claim, because as he said “It’s his job and he can review the entire case if he wants too and that’s what he was going to do”. It seemed this judge had made up his mind before even seeing me, wasting my gas, and time. As soon as I walked in the room he stared me down and continued to stare at me during the entire 3 minutes of my “hearing”, in which he did not hear me or talk to me at all. In my opinion, this was a waste of time and this judge is NOT fair, and seems to have a “God” complex. He never asked me any questions or allowed ME to explain my case, cause he was gonna do what he wanted to because he could and that was that. Terrible experience. I feel bad for anyone who gets this judge. Beware!!
I TOTALLY AGREE WITH JERRY YOUNKIN ACCURATE ASSESSMENT OF JOHN KAYS- IS INCOMPETENT!
Judge John Kays was such a pleasure to see in today’s system. He was very knowledgable, professional and wise. He allowed me to tell my story and listened patiently. He is what our country stands for! Honorable Man.
I can’t believe the negative comment above even remotely has anything to do with Judge Kays. He’s super knowledgeable, professional, and clearly reads and knows the file prior to the hearing.
We don’t win every case in front of him, but he treats our clients fairly.
THE HONORABLE ( ?? ) JUDGE KAYS IS AN EMBARASSMENT TO THE BENCH. HE SORELY LACKS THE NECESSARY ATTRIBUTE OF BEING ANALYTICAL…SOMETHING CRUCIAL TO THE FAIR AND PROPER ADJUDICATION OF SSI CASES. OH, AND BY THE WAY…NEVER GET A CASE REMANDED BACK TO HIM BY THE APPEALS COUNCIL, A 3-JUDGE PANEL OF HIS SUPERIORS….HE WILL DENY YOUR CLAIM A-G-A-I-N FOR SURE, REGARDLESS OF IT’S MERIT. IN SUMMATION, JUDE KAYS IS AN ARROGANT, NAROW-MINDED PAPER PUSHER, WHO LACKS THE COMMON SENSE AND JURISPRUDENT INTELLIGENCE TO FUNCTION IN A REAL COURT SETTING, SO HE HIDES IN THE ODAR WHERE HE SEEMS TO RUN UNCHECKED, RENDERING HIS UNFAIR AND RANDOM DECISIONS BASED ON HOW HE FEELS THAT PARTICULAR DAY, AND MAYBE DEPENDING ON WHETHER HE GOT LAID THE NIGHT BEFORE. MAY THIS SO-CALLED JUDGE FACE A TIME IN HIS LIFE WHEN HE WILL BE DENIED THE COMPASSION HE FAILS TO SHOW OTHERS. **** WAS MADE FOR PEOPLE LIKE HIM, AND MAY HE MAKE THE TRIP SOON!
