Gary Parker Hodges died on August 22, 2018 because he never received Disability. He went before Judge Bowen in December 2017 and she didn’t feel she had enough info even though she was given an 800 plus page record from Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. If we could have gotten help he would be alive today. Our system is a FAILURE.

Judge Bowen was very responsive, inquisitive and also attentive during our hearing. She was able to control the proceedings allowing our attorney to present his arguments uninterrupted. The climate was pleasant during the hearing. We felt as if the judge was truly listening and absorbing the information.

I appeared before Judge Brounoff on February 8,2012. As of today,April 9,2012, I have not received a decision yet. However, I am hoping that the Honorable Judge will rule in my favor. My lawyer gave my confidence that my case will be considered as favorable.

After reading the information provided in the different websites about what goes on in the process of deciding disability cases, I realize now how stressful if must be to have to make these kind of decisions concerning the lives and well being of people who are unable to actively support themselves in the workforce. Please know that I am praying for you and your family and that you will be led by your good conscience and experience in dealing with this task everyday. May God bless you and keep you.

Judge Brower started my hearing by asking about how I was and breaking the ice with Super Bowl small talk. He asked why I thought I was disabled and I went on to explain. He sincerely viewed all the medical evidence that my lawyers turned in prior to the hearing And asked me questions about my various Dr. visits. There was some evidence and things I said, however, that did make him have some doubts about the validity of my claim. In the end he gave Me sufficient opportunity to explain myself and he took my sincerity into serious consideration in regards to making his final decision. He apologized for upsetting me emotionally and thanked me for "fighting for myself". Things look very good. He's a good and fair judge.

Please hope that you dont get this judge. He was not only arrogant but also unprofessional. Talking about the case before me and how he knows shes faking it.. That he can tell when someone is in pain. Really? How can you physically see pain. Because of this judge i am bed bound, unemployed, no income, 35 and living with my parents. Im legally disabled, yet a man with no medical degree decides if i suffer or starve. I never got to bring in my witnesses, my lawyer was unprepared, ssi never sent me to their doctors, and I couldn't even read my statement.. seam fair?? What a joke.

I recently represented a claimant before Judge Charles Brower. Judge Brower was very humane and polite to the claimant and myself. He explained the whole hearing process to the client, he then went to admit the evidence into record. He swore the claimant and VE in. He immediately interviewed the claimant, he then asked me to explain and prove on the Medical record evidence, the client's dx that meets the SSA Listing, I presented the evidence to prove dx limitations he experiences and history his symptoms. I believe this Judge was very just and willing to hear the claimant expressing himself.

Prepare your client to be cross-examined. This judge is not rude or hostile, but she comes across as not believing anything the client says. My client testified that a doctor told her something, and the ALJ crossed her on who and when. She did this repeatedly.

I had my hearing in front of Judge Brock Cima on February 21st I believe and he made his decision according to my lawyer on the 26th of February and I still have not received my award letter. Has anybody else experienced says and has it taken anyone this long to get their letter saying that they were approved or denied. I really love the judge that I had he was very easy to talk to and I felt very comfortable with him and felt very comfortable with the way things went is just slow process and this living on one income is killing us. Just wondering if anyone else could give me some advice on what to do next it's been 4 months since my court date and I still have not heard anything thank you

One of the worse judges. She does not have a sympathetic bone in her body. She act more like the money will come out of her pocket even though you have paid into it from your earnings. She don't look at facts, she make her own decision. She need to be disbarred due to being incompetent.

This is a self absorbed judge totally full of herself and seems proud of the fact the denies people disability after they have paid into the SSD system. She cut off my attorney and would not let them speak. She did not take my records in account she went off what she felt like. I had even thought maybe my rep was being paid by her or SS because it seems terrible what this judge gets away with in the hearing. We suffer and wait and keep suffering and this person thinks its all about her. While she goes home and sleeps at night in her cozy bed some of us are disabled and sleeping in cars or tents or someones sofa. Terrible judge that needs to be investigated!

This so called judge denied my sister. My sister has NO income...and has been sick for the last four years. How can this woman sleep at night? My sister worked the same job for twenty years! Yet there are drug abusers sitting back collecting disability. How is this fair? It isn't, and this judge should realize there are people in dire need out there.

My wife had more then 10 conditions listed as conditions that you can use for disability. 3 1/2 years later we get the word that she has ruled against and it was dismissed. 3 days after my wife passed away.

She flatly denied me, would not even look at me, I was just a number not a human being. Yes, she is most likely well compensated, because that way she is there. More denied cases more money for her, us little people are not important once when we get sick. Her day will come, God sees and hears, and that is justice. This is from someone who's been bedridden for 11 years.

What's weird is that if she paid 66% of her cases, she'd be mentioned in Congressional hearing by name. Instead, the Agency allows her to pay 90% fewer claims than other judges and does nothing.

Peri Collins should not be deciding the fate of anyone. Her manners are atrocious, she was rude and condescending even to our lawyer. After waiting over six months for a decision she denied our claim with a decision that read like she was talking about another case. I do not know how SSA can continue to let Peri Collins be a judge when she clearly does not care about anything that is presented during the hearing. I doubt if she even reads any of the records; she should be investigated and fired.

This judge thinks that she is a doctor! Other judges should be embarrassed that this type of person makes life decisions for the disabled. She has no knowledge of ailments or treatments or success rates of treatments or the effects of illnesses, even with continued treatment. According to her, everybody needs to have had surgery and it failed, or not have legs or a head for her to even CONSIDER your appeal. She has a horrible disposition and an even worse attitude. She is rude and VERY insensitive toward the people in her court room. Her decisions are not based on fact but based on her personal opinion of what she thinks you could/should do. I guess there are 15 thousand copy machine operator jobs out there for people who can not even tie their own shoes because of arthritis or walk to the restroom on their own because of chronic pain. This judge shows how little the SSA cares about people that have worked hard on jobs for 25+ years and then become unable to work. Judge Collins is obviously living in a castle high above looking down on those who are now broken in body and/or the mind. 90% of the SSD cases brought in front of her are DENIED. She is a disabled person's worst nightmare because she is looking for reasons to NOT APPROVE disabled people for benefits that they have earned. She is an opinionated monster with the power to kill prosperity of the mind and hope for what you have rightly earned.

Peri Collins is a AL-03 under the administrative law judges payscale and is among the highest-paid ten percent of employees in the Social Security Administration. She is also THE TOP DENIAL JUDGE in Texas for SSD cases. She should be investigated because I believe she is "on the take" to deny people benefits that they have EARNED and now NEED! She gets a ZERO rating as THE WORST, MOST UNSYMPATHETIC, RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL, HATEFUL ALJ in all of Texas.

If you read the cover page providing instructions for Form 437-BK, you will see that is NOT the right form to complain about a judge. The SSA department that reviews 437-BK complaints is called the Office of the General Counsel (OGC), which does NOT have jurisdiction to investigate complaints alleging judge bias. You need to make allegations about judge bias to the SSA's Office of Hearing Operations (OHO).

At the onset of the hearing, he explained in detail the procedure and our rights under the law. His questions were clear and concise. He allowed enough time for responses to his questions. We were extremely pleased with the manner and dexterity with which he handled the hearings. Judge Deramus is a "FIVE STAR" Judge and comes recommended with our highest esteem. Having had the complete and utter displeasure of meeting her, it is quite easy to rate her with the lowest marking, I would rate even lower if possible. She is rude, condescending, unethical, and completely incompetent as a judge. She cannot remain impartial and makes her decisions based on personal reasons, not the facts presented her. I am ashamed that a person of this caliber and low moral fiber is allowed to hear cases that determine the future of honest applicants and depend on her decision to better their unfortunate situation.

It was a pleasure meeting Judge Estrada. The judge was professional and patient when I stated I did not understand her question. Judge Estrada in my opinion was caring and concerned about my illness and my living conditions.I thanked the Lord for giving me such a compassionate and understanding judge to rule over my case. I'm still waiting for my approval letter, but I have that she will follow through with her judgement as she stated about my case.

My hearing lasted almost an hour and a half in front of this judge. My attorney presented medical evidence from my medical records proving I was diagnosed with PTSD and Bipolar disorder. The vocational expert testified that I could get a job but not maintain it. After waiting 2 months he is requested a supplemental hearing and is now ordering that a medical expert be present and another vocation expert! It's already proven that I am disabled according to SSA guidelines yet he is still requesting another hearing when nothing has changed.

I applied in 2011, 2016,2017, and appealed in 2018. I was DENIED, by this *******. It is documented I can not hold a job because of my medical issues, and written by several of my doctors for me NOT TO WORK. I am diagnosed with Bipolar, PTSD, Stockholm's, Carpal Tunnel, Raynaud's, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, Arthritis, Trauma from Sexual Abuse, and DOmestic Violence, Panic and Anxiety attacks, Social anxiety, Migraines, Eating Disorder, Chronic Fatigue, Add, Asthma. I CAN NOT WORK. HAVE BEEN HOMELESS ( COUCH HOPING FOR 5 YEARS) NO INCOME, AND LOSING FRIENDS ALONG THE WAY. I HAVE BEEN FALSELY ACCUSED OF CRIMES BY MY ABUSERS SO I WOULDN'T BE ALE TO SEE MY CHILDREN, AND DESPERATELY TRYING TO STAY POSITIVE. I HAVE SOUGHT SHELTER ANYWHERE I COULD, IN THE MOST DESPERATE TIMES, AND IT TURNED OUT HORRIBLY. THE JUDGE, JUDGED ME WRONG, AND FALSELY ACCUSED ME OF DOING DRUGS WHEN I HAD NOT. I'M NOT THE TYPICAL HOMELESS. I DON'T DO DRUGS. I'M NOT AN ALCOHOLIC. I'M COLLEGE EDUCATED. IT'S NOT MY FAULT, I FELL VICTIM TO ABUSE, AND CAN NOT RECOVER. HE IS MAKING IT WORSE FOR ME!!

Rushed us through hearing. Given only 25 minutes for case to be heard, and then omitted parts of my testimony from actual hearing. My case was denied. I have a form of cognitive impairment that is Early Alzheimers, but because of my age (46), I am being asked to remain in the work force doing menial work where I will most likely get fired within my 90 day period because of my memory. I have an attorney. I still lost. If I were four years older, I would get a compassionate allowance, by that point I may not even be able to remember it's available.

She was very rude and showed no compassion. She had the wrong information on my file. She brought up a doctor's appointment that I did not go to, had no appointment with and according to her I went for the doctor to write me a note to obtain a floor apartment and not be forced to live on the second or third floor of an apartment building(problem with HER information, we live in a house that is paid for) the appointment was never set up and I wouldn't't have set it because we own our own house and make no payments. All of these judges need to be put out to pasture. They do not have a clue about the people and the information that pertains to that person. Out of touch with reality and human beings. The statement up above states that the judge may view your post. I hope she does, after the screwed up way she handled the hearing somebody needs to tell her she is INCOMPETENT.

Had a hearing with him last week. Really a fine ALJ. All about the business at hand, yet down-to-earth, reasonable, interested in knowing the facts, interested also in making the claimant as comfortable as possible with the proceedings. Very unassuming yet he certainly gained my respect quickly by how he handled the hearing. He's probably ruling favorably for my client, but even if he ruled unfavorably, I'd still feel that he gave us fair and thorough consideration.

I have not had the pleasure of meeting this Judge yet. I just recently found out he has been assigned to my disability claim. From what I've read above, he seems to be a man after God's own heart. I Pray that he is equally fair to me if we should have to have a hearing. I have been fighting for the past 3 years and losing hope fast.God knows the pains I suffer on a daily basis from the time I awaken until the time I try to go to sleep. I'm not asking for a handout, I'm asking for what I've earned and paid into social security to aid in my attempting to live a normal life again. It's getting harder as the days go by to keep my head above water. I'm waiting on either an OTR decision or a Hearing. I put either in God's hands, He knows what I'm going through. I'll trust whatever decision Judge Lessis makes concerning me and my many conditions.

I had my hearing November 15th 2017 and I'm still awaiting a decision from the judges office. My lawyers don't know anything other than it is still in the judges hands. I was told is have a decision within 90 days and as you can see, I'm still waiting. He was a great listener and i didn't feel intimidated at all. My issue is that the "process" takes entirely too long and some of us are in desperate need for a decision so that we know where to go from here...how do i get my surgeries..how do i get the injections i need...how do i keep paying my bills...what am i going to do about rent..All of this in some cases is contingent on a speedy decision. Thanks for listening.

Be prepared to have the majority of what you say be turned around by him. He is age biased and biased against Mental Health claims. If you have already been victim of Judge JAMES LINEHAN report him to: Division of Quality Service One Skyline Tower 5107 Leesburg Pike, Suite 1605 Falls Church, VA 22041 Include as many details as possible in your letter to aid DQS in its investigation. My experience with this Judge was horrible. He rushes through the hearing, will not let you finish answering a question when you are obviously confused with what he is asking. He will cherry pick anything in your records that he can twist around. And frankly, reading his decision was unbelievable. In several cases this Judge just outright lies. If he doesn't just blatantly lie in his decision rationale he lies like the Devil by omitting overwhelming records contrary. SHAME on this Judge. He should be removed. Yes I am appealing. Meet with new attorney today! In my opinion this Judge makes his decision before you ever go before him. He does not show any interest in fact gathering that does not meet the opinion he already has made. In my decision he took 1 doctors observation that I saw one time (not even for condition I applied for disability and not a specialist) while ignoring 5+ others (specialists) that saw me regularly and all reported the same thing. Nevermind, that the Doctor opinion he cited negatively in my favor is who gave the referral for me to see specialist. Oh the list goes on and on. Oh, and he thinks that when your medication is changed because you stopped taking it because it didn't work or had side effects that you can not handle that you are non-compliant in taking medication.

I agree with a previous post regarding not accepting a Video Hearing from ALJ Linehan. You must have a good attorney to deal with this Judge. I have been told by two different attorney's already that in their experience his decisions are way off base if you either do not have a lawyer as a representative. If you go in with a non-attorney representative (or worse no representative) he knows that you will have difficulty obtaining representation to effectively appeal as a non-attorney representative WILL drop your case following an ALJ Hearing. It would be a good idea also to have your United States Congressman's office inquire about your claim. He does appear to be particularly biased against Mental Health claims. Two different attorney's that have dealt with him have told me this.

This judge laughed about SSA Paperwork being lost! Years ago when he was a lawyer representing claimants he stated online in a blog (I have a printout) that SSA commonly loses paperwork! Today, after over a year I finally get a copy of the audio recording of the hearing. The main ODAR office has been blocking me getting it! Very obvious of why after listening to it. This judge demonstrated a nasty habit of interrupting me while I was trying to answer a question by asking another question. Unbelievable! Thank goodness I have an attorney now. By the way, the medical and healthcare professionals that regularly see me prior to the hearing and to this day were appalled at his decision and flat out said that his reasoning did not make any sense to them - one even pulls up records they sent and it was obvious they were completely ignored! Going in with anything less than an attorney with this ALJ will likely result in a swift denial. I went in with a representative, but as they had already found and attorney's I have spoken to and since retained one, have all said that to them it appears that "this Judge gets messy; even though he knows better; when the claimant is not represented or represented by a non-attorney representative". They seem to believe he does this because he knows that a non-attorney representative will drop out at this point and it is very hard to get an attorney to come in at the Appeals Council stage. So, you have been warned!

This just stuns me! I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Linehan many years ago over my then husbands Federal Workers Comp claim and I couldn't believe how great he was. Fast, knowledgeable, friendly. So I have to go with my experiences with him as a FWC attorney.

Yes, this judge does cherry pick evidence . He does turn testimony around to fit his pre formed opinion. He will interrupt you during your testimony , to throw you off track. It seems as though he has already made a decision on your case , before your hearing. If this guy is your judge , I pray for you. Good luck getting the benefits you've paid for all of your working life.

Had Judge Mariben today, she was very professional and questioned the claimant fully and fairly. But she came up with more hypothetical person examples than I have ever encountered before for the vocational expert to comment on. Whoever your representative is, may sure he OR she is prepared to cross-examine the VE. Don't know if our claim was successful but the experience was priceless. Reps be ready!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am writing this on behalf of my son. My son has an average IQ. He has excellent verbal skills but cannot put his thoughts in writing. His doctor has diagnosed to have brain damage. He also has ADHD, bipolar disorder, post traumatic syndrome and sleep apnea. The judge ridiculed and belittled my son and told my son that he belonged in prison and would amount to nothing but a janitor. The judge denied him and failed to understand that his deviant behavior has to do with his ADHD, bipolar and post traumatic syndrome. I rate this judge #1. She has no working knowledge of mental disabilities and is not current on how bipolar leads to violence, crime or other deviant behaviors.

On my denial letter, Moore stated that he agreed with my testimony and my witness letter on everything, but denied my case based on WILLIAM JOSEPH DUBIN'S assessment, a man indicted for "Medicaid Fraud" along with his son!! I never even met William Joseph Dubin but he said since I was able "to make eye contact" and actually school smart, he disputed all my claims. Seriously, on God. I was denied based on "Eye Contact" based on a guy who never met me, and again, indicted for Medicaid fraud. As the judge, you should have actually believed in your own judgement. Not gone against what you "said" you believed to be true, to choose the opinion of someone indicted on using people's innocent unwell CHILDREN to commit "Medicaid Fraud" in Austin, TX. Seriously, Google it. Anyone in his position who uses children to commit fraud isn't well themselves and shouldn't be trusted to give an honest opinion on anyone else.

Anne Pate heard my my daughter's case. My daughter has a fever back injury from a four car pile up. This was in 2011. She also has PTSD, severe depression as was documented. This judge determined that she could work for six hours in a day a job that allows her to sit no more than 30 minutes or stand no more than 30 minutes. This judge isn't here when I had to call the Georgia crisis help line because my daughter has been suicidal. Her sister come see her. She doesn't go see them. Plus she had that Alisha worked five months ago which isn't true. She hasn't worked at all since 2013. After the wreckless driver smashed us, she had been out of work since 2011. She tried to work again in 2013. Many times I had to pick her up because she couldn't do her job due to pain. How can a person pay for medical bills on 6 hours a day? Is that really gainfully employed?? The vocation expert said if she missed 3 days at the 3 types of jobs she could do, she would be terminated. That would really go well being fired all the time for a person with PTSD. Where is common sense? I hope Social security reads my daughter's file and see that this judge was dead wrong! Alisha has a problem in that she isn't dramatic. Yet people with PTSD are not as a rule. They fold in. I will continue to pay my daughter's medical bills because I want to keep her alive as social security doesn't care if she lives. I'm selling my house so I can care for her. My daughter suffers due to no fault of her own. Yet if she was an addict she would get the help she needs. . Not right. Spondolothesis Spondolsis, and loss of disc height is a joint. It's the most important bones in your body. Back bones hold the person up. Yet I'm here when she is in tears from the pain. Ms. Anne Pate is not. I was here all the times she thinks life isn't worth living. Imagine as a mother hearing that from your child. Yet just like the ***** that hit us and broke my back in two places, we as victims always suffer. Alisha's back is ruined and yet no justice from this judge.

He is totally biased and my goodness, forbid you have a dual diagnosis. He seems to think that people with mental disabilities have never, in the history of psychology, ever been shown to self-medicate. And even if there is proof (via monitor, etc.), he'll just say everyone involved is lying. He pretends to be an medical doctor, psychiatrist and expert on psychological behavior. My friend has physical, mental and behavioral limitations and in reading the answer this judge gave, it is full of lies, inferences and contradictions - throughout his opinion. No wonder my friend is on the verge of a total breakdown. We all know that the system need revamping. But what happens when people like this are out of resources? Only tragedy.

He found my last case unfavorable which was November 2009 and I just got the reults in April 2012.I think this is so unfair because i was appealling his case then the people a social security said to re-file. I got the second case within a month or two. Mr. Richardson did not like that at all so he combined the both cases and then denied the single case. I am on so much medicine, i have to go to regular doctors, my psychiatrist, my therapist, my allergist, my chiropractor plus regular visits to the ER.

My daughter has epilepsy and major depression issues including suicide attempts. With 5 pages worth of cataloged proof of her disability from her psychiatrist, neuropsychologist, two different neurologists, and the mental hospital she was admitted to, he sees no proof of a disability. She has had seizures since she was three to nine and from 16 on. She cant drive because she has too many seizures, cant ride a bus alone, cannot work around machinery, chemicals, hot things, or flashing or fluorescent lights, and has no warning whatsoever of her seizures, she cannot work in a place where no one is briefed on what to do if she has a seizure, and cannot tell interviewers she has seizures because they wont hire her. he finds her "not disabled" after two years of appeals. I do not think he even read anything on this case, now my daughter will suffer because of this. Way to go, system, it would be nice if it was your kid falling thru the cracks but trust fund babies never do. He only approves 34% of his cases, how many people who are legitimately disabled, like my daughter does he deny? and why?

Nice judge, asks for opening/theory of case naming severe impairments. Seems open to award if you have a good case. If you need to amend your AOD do so right a way and normally he will go with it. Very favorable if you have grid application. I had some weak cases with him, but awarded the 2 good ones I had.

Very nice judge! New and younger. He will ask for a brief summary of severe impairments and argument at beginning of hearing, then he will ask most questions. Had five hearings with him today, two he told me on the record he found FF per GRID. Two of the others went very and he didn't even go to the VE, but didn't say OTR that he was granting, but should be FF. Seems like a very favorable judge, and pleasant to claimant and attorney.

When I found out what judge would be residing over my remand hearing, I read these posts to see if he sound like he would be a fair judge. After reading the posts, I figured he might be fair. Either way, I was scared. Wow, he listened to everything I had to say! By the questions he asked, I knew that he had went through my paperwork with a fine tooth comb and he really showed the compassionate that I should have been shown by the previous judge. He is no joke and I believe that anyone that appears before him, will be satisfied with any decisions he makes. He seems like he is by the book, and he makes his decisions by the evidence before him and he will look into why something went south before the case came back to him. Judge Sampson, thank you so much for looking over my case and listening to me and my representative. God Bless You!!!

Confused by his previous decisions. I went before him with supporting medical documentation that I had been unable to work for 3 years. Had tried and completed every possible alternative before filing for disability, including a spinal fusion, and had a witness testify as to the continued progressive advancement of my condition, yet he still rejected my claim. I spent almost 4 years unemployed, loaded up on prescription pain killers, sold everything that I possibly could including family heirlooms that will never be retrieved just to survive and still haven't been approved. If this is what you call a fair judge and you can afford to live without employment or income than good luck he's just the one for you. Or maybe I just had very poor representation. Oh well this is life, it beats the alternative.

Even though, Judge Sampson has left Valparaiso, I'm still spending my days filing and winning briefs on his cruel decisions. Make no bones about it, some ALJ's are incompetent. Some are mean. Some are lazy. Most try to do their jobs and make reasoned rational decisions. Judge Sampson is one of the mean ones. He is well aware what the correct decision is, but spends his decisions omitting facts and using tendentious logic. I imagine he will do much better in the 5th Circuit. Meanwhile, I'm just glad he's not here to hurt my clients any longer.

I believe it was judge Sampson that overlookedy SSI claim. 2016-2017:@ the Vigo county social security office. I have never gotten my full amount of payment ever since. Living with a friend and that's all. Judge Rader at the terre haute court said " there is no such common law in Indiana" there is no sexual relations at all. Just him helping me out and that is it!! I know several people that are living together and having a sexual relationship and guess what? They get their full benefits. Nicole Whitaker over sees my case and is a one sided human being. Please help.

He denied me and even my attorney was angry because he omitted professional medical records from VA doctors he made my attorney so mad he vented to one of his federal judge friends and the friend said he had a good case this judge shouldn’t be able to sleep well at night and wish we could get him off the bench from hurting people who deserve to receive their benefits and I hope he also read these reviews God is not please at all with you and you should be ashamed denying folks who really should be awarded a lot of his cases has went to federal court and they should be sick of seeing his cases come through

Great Judge! Really made the situation relaxing and explained the hearing process and his process in deciding cases. Too bad he's a senior Judge and only hears cases part of the year. He has been the best Judge I've been infront of. If you get Judge Schwartz you are VERY lucky!

I went to this so called judge on April 6, 2018 in the Dallas North office on Coit road with a mountain of evidence to prove my multiple mental disabilities and he denied my case 101 days later. He makes political decisions. Because I am an educated white male from the affluent neighborhood of Colleyville, TX he denied me. My family pays a fortune in taxes to pay for Stanley salary which he clearly doesn't earn. Warning this judge hates white men from affluent backgrounds.

I recently had an appeal with Judge Shilling, he spoken to me with compassion and hearthfelt for my suffering which seem genuine. This being the first for me and never seeing what a Disability Judge asked. Truth be told, the guy was hard to read, not even my representative could read him. He also doesn't seem to care to much for representative's in general. He wants to hear it from the horse's month per se.

The only conclusion I can come to is that The Honorable Shilling is trying either run for office soon, or take over the VA administration. He denied me recently on the grounds that I can work while: not being able to operate a motor vehicle; must walk with a cane due to knee, foot, and back issues; I have anxiety disorders which include PTSD, Agoraphobia, ADHD, Bipolar, and Manic Depression. Yes, I believe he will do just fine in either position he chooses. Those people don't care about us either. Amazing that he is one of the highest paid judges in the nation for Social Security. Now I know why he is.

I had my hearing this week. I was late because of heavy rain. This judge waited for me. I was nervous at first but not at the end. He knew the record and was polite. Had two experts by telephone. This guy let me stand for part of the hearing because of back pain. My attorney said he is one of the better judges and knows the law. Don't know how he will rule.

I was granted an immediate bench decision in my favor-I cannot thank her enough for this. I think she is the best judge in the Dallas OAR (I am biased), but she really is a professional, has compassion and cares about others. Thank you, Judge Thames.

When I did receive my letter of denial he failed to mention in the report my Degenerative Arthritis which would have qualified me. I have trouble walking, sitting, standing because of my arthritis,my body is in a constent tremor which keeps me from holding an eating utensil or a pen to sign my name if I need to,my Anxiety disorder is because I cannot function like I use to. Why I was denied I will never know.

I'll give him 2 stars due to high approval rate in comparison to others in the state. However, he tends to question claimants at length about personal issues that have no bearing on the case (e.g., marital status, reasons for divorce, etc.).

This woman should have gracefully retired A LONG TIME AGO!!! She's disorganized and falls asleep during hearings! Unreasonably long waits for hearings and post-hearing decisions. I had a hearing with her during in which she actually fell asleep mid-sentence. Unfortunately, she nodded off during the MD expert's testimony that my client met 2 listings, so the ME had to repeat the testimony after waiting for her to wake up again. Then she took ANOTHER 6 months POST-HRG to get around to issuing her decision AND reprimanded me for inquiring about the case status months after the hearing. My poor client was furious and despondent and felt he didn't even get a fair hearing!! While I am sorry that she struggles with obviously severe health issues (she's elderly, morbidly obese with respiratory issues, and uses an oxygen tank), her ego should defer to the best interests of SSA claimants. Her inexplicable, stubborn insistence on remaining on the bench is doing a disservice to SSA claimants.

I must agree with the 6-26-12 comment. She was very confused during the hearing. I dont think she ever actually opened her eyes while she was talking. I have no idea what to expect out of her. She did a lot of hacking also...all in all a very odd ALJ.

Judge Westfall has never used an Oxygen tank and has the best record in this Dallas ODAR office. She does have some health issues, but the previous comments blow them out of proportion and are obviously exaggerated by a Lawyer who didn't get the outcome they wanted. You would be lucky to have Judge Westfall handle your case.

The 6/18/14 5-star rating/comment is total nonsense and obviously posted by a either a friend of hers or someone who has never argued a case before her in their life. Notice the commenter did not deny the specific criticism of sleeping during hearings, delayed cases. Ask ANY atty. who has ever appeared before her. They all laugh and roll their eyes when you mention her name. She DOES fall asleep during her hearings. She IS disorganized and DOES take an unreasonably long time to move cases. Complaint after complaint over the years, yet she still will not budge. Anyone with "health issues" so severe that they result in this kind of consistent weird behavior is clearly not up to the job. It is grossly unfair to claimants to make them wait so long and see them upset in her hearings when she takes a little nappy. Ethical rules require an incapacitated atty. to step down when incapacitated, unable to function. Same goes for a judge. This woman is all about ego, not the rights of claimants. And it's a crying shame.

My experience with this judge was positive. She did have some respiratory issues, but it was more in the way of asthma and did not interfere with her asking questions or following the case. I had the opportunity to see her without the robe later in the hallway, and she was neither obese nor using oxygen. Judge Westfall was extremely well prepared for my client's case and conducted about 30 minutes of direct examination herself. Our hearing went almost an hour and I sat directly below her. I did not see her sleeping, and she followed the flow of the hearing very well. When you consider that most Texas judges are far outside the standard deviation in denials, it is a great thing to have an ALJ that will actually pay a case. And to be sure, I don't know if we have won or lost yet.
