My first hearing was postponed by Judge South who was very nice and helpful and advised me to retain counsel before proceeding with my hearing, promising he would get me a new hearing date in a timely manner and he did so. He was suppose to reside over that case, however he had a conference on that date and Judge Anderson proceeded over my case. I was absolutely terrified, but Judge Anderson was very diligent and asked many questions, the right questions if you will, he was extremely nice and compassionate and I was given a fully favorable decision at the hearing and received it by mail in less than two weeks as he so promised. I feel both judges played a part in my favorable decision so I thank them both. Having a disability and waiting years to see a judge is terribly stressful and I am very grateful for these two judges being so compassionate.

Her demeanor told me at the door I had a tough fight on my hands. She is very cold. She was far from thorough as she just agreed with the previous decisions without considering or addressing ALL of the evidence. You'll need an overwhelming amount of agreements from your own doctors if you're going to win a fully favorable decision with her at the bench, not just a treatment history. She used my medical history of treatments against me. Get opinion evidence from as many of your doctors as possible who agree on your onset date or you'll be sorry when you get your backpay. If you even get a partially favorable, be glad, she's definitely a tough cookie.

She strongly suspects that all claimants and their representatives are liars and cheats. She looks for anything in the record to support her speculation that a claimant is lying. She doesn't ask about any of her concerns during the hearing, when the Claimant could explain or the representative could point to clarifying evidence. Instead, she sandbags. She thinks she is smarter than medical doctors or Ph.D. psychologists. She does not hesitate to second-guess their opinions, even when opinions from multiple doctors are supported by substantial medical evidence in the record. She is a disaster and a nightmare. She makes up her mind before hearings.

I seen judge Andrew's on June 8th for my hearing she was very nice and understanding. I was not able to sit for the duration of the hearing due to my disabilities and she did not mind at all that I needed to stand. Thank you judge Andrew's for a pleasant hearing.

I went before Judge Andrews-Turner in May 2016, I found her to very thoughtful and very prepared. She was very accommodation and made me feel very relaxed. If you have actual disabilities and your file is in order, your hearing will go very smoothly.

Not a good judge. She speculated that you are lying from the start and will not even listen to you. Even if someone shows proof that their struggling with a disability she will smile and find a way to prove you are wrong. I am in shock and how awful she was.

ROBE-ITIS or Inferiority Complex?!?!?! This woman was excellent as an Attorney Advisor (and I do not use the word 'excellent' lightly) but they gave her a robe and she turned into a different person (and that's putting it nicely). Not only does she not make sound decisions, she delays her 'Unfavorables' putting Claimants at a MAJOR disadvantage when it comes to DLIs and AC decisions. Something must be done. Sadly, she is a complete disaster as a judge.

This Judge is very smug and acts as if she has something to prove. She has no empathy and wore a smirk during her hearing. She gave no credit to my treating physicians and all the credit to physicians reviewing my case that I'd never met. Unfortunately, it took over a YEAR to get a decision in my case and of course, she denied it. It is currently on appeal in Washington. She is a poor excuse for a Judge.

Judge Barnett Jefferson was the judge on my daughters case she held out on making a decision over two years and wasn't even concerned with the problems with my daughter and her disabling conditions she was more concerned about my religion where I worship and my faith when I stated that I was Jewish she immediately changed her tone and acted very different towards me during the rest of the hearing she also took about 3 months before she made the decision after the hearing. I thought this was the last time that I would have to deal with her; however I have another daughter who is also disabled and she pulled her case for review after I submitted paperwork after my other daughter denial stating she discriminated against me during my daughters hearing; so now that I know that she is the Judge on this case I feel that there is some type of retaliation towards me or persecution toward me because I submitted paperwork requesting a telephone hearing several times and ALL my requests were ignored no responses al all; the day before the hearing I finally get her assistant Shaun Johnson on the phone who said I needed to submit medical records stating I couldn't come to the hearing before she grant me a telephone hearing; I never heard anything back from her and called again the afternoon before the hearing and was told she deny a telephone hearing and she denied it even after I submitted paperwork from a hospital saying I was injured from a fall. This woman has serious issues toward African American women/mothers and people of different faith or religion. She is not empathetic at all she has "NO Emotions" or care towards Disabling children. I can't believe that she is allowed to make any decisions on any type cases with her attitude demeanor and deceiving looks. I want her to know I am not afraid of her and that I am pursuing religion discrimination against her not just for myself or daughter but for others. Also I want her to know that she will one day have to answer to a higher Power than herself (God Almighty Jehovah GOD of Israel) for her mistreatment and hatred towards others of different faith and people of color. I don't know what have happened to her to dislike her own people but obviously something is wrong with her and she needs to be examined by a psychologist. I hope and pray that she will find it in her heart to repent before she is JUDGED. I can't wait until she meet her MAKER!

My name is Cynthia Hinton and I was assigned to judge Mrs. RENITA F BARNETT JEFFERSON on January 31st 2019 and I feel that she was professional , concerned, and she was going strictly by the books and rules of the law. However I didn't like the way the vocationalist spoke on my medical conditions saying that there are jobs that I can do when she has no clue about ho wi feel on a day to day basis, nor do she know how I feel when I am dealing with depression(bipolar) moments, or when i can hardly move sum days, . I honestly think that vocationalist should not have the right to speak on people cases cause they are giving there opinions on ur health issues and they have no clue on how u feel for real . I have seen so many incidents where people dont take certain sickness serious, such as bipolar, manic depression, and ect. But I have been dealing with my sickness for so long and I have went bac to work in the past but if I could do the things I use could do when I was younger and my body and mind frame was still like it use to b when I was younger I would love to go bac to work but I can't work and I ain't able to hold a job now i can't stand long periods of tyme, can't sit to long, walk to far, my mood swings changes like the wind i never know when i may flip out , and most of all i dont want to cause anyone any harm when i go into a deep depression that's why I isolate myself alot away from people. I know no one is going to hire me on there jobs to accommodate my sickness. I have been working every since I was 14 years old and I am now 45 years old my sickness has worsen over the years and it let's me know what I can and can not do . I never asked to b in my condition and I just hope that my judge makes the right decision on my case because I have a history that goes bac to 2007 -2019 and I am still up under my doctors .

If I could give no stars for this soulless woman I would. She has an ego the size of her head and the way she words her letters in her sarcastic demeaning way is ridiculous.... they say when God takes her off that pedistal that she sits on is the day that I will rejoice... you reap what you sew... they same people that you denied I CAN ONLY PRAY THAT THEIR SITUATION BECOMES YOUR REALITY.... and you be on the receiving end and get denied when you know you deserve and I would say much more but I won’t stoop as low as calling you out your name because I’m sure you already know that you are one

Had my hearing on August 12,2020. I thought Ms.Barnett was really nice, she was to the point, all business from what I could tell from phone hearing. Of course its too soon to know anything but if I don't win I don't fault her at all if anything I would say voc expert seems to be very intent on finding me a job even though I can't stand for long periods due to diagnosed neuropathy n other issues. Also I don't think my attorney applied grid rules unless he mentioned in the brief that was sent to the office. But other than that I thought everything went well. My lawyer and I couldn't tell which way she was leaning after my hearing either, but if denied ill move forward even though I'm ready for this part to be over.

I made the mistake of using Freedom Disability and after close to 3 years, just got a denial from my hearing. The judge on the case Geoffrey Casher used lies and fabrications in his denial notice; which doesn’t surprise me when he has an approval rating of 25% compared to 60% for the Nation. I guess that is why his salary increased from $106K to $167K in the last 10 years. Just a couple of the ludicrous points the judge made: - Taking more importance from a med consult that lasted 4 minutes and was supposed to be for examining my migraines when he did not even mention the migraines, only my back problems. My back was hurting from sitting in a car 45 minutes being driven to Hinesville for this 4 minute appt. but was supposed to mainly be for the migraines from what the judge said at the hearing. He wrote out all kinds of stuff i supposedly can and cannot do, all based on a 4 minute appt. The judge took this as fact instead or the numerous doctors notes and appointments from my Neurologist and Psychiatrist and Coastal Harbor and Mayo Clinic. - He mentioned me not having medical records or on medicine in the last year. Well that is only because I could not afford to go to my doctors or get medicine without insurance or being on Disability. I went from $65K a year working at St. Joseph’s/Candler Health System to being on Food Stamps. When I applied for Food Stamps I also applied for Medicaid but was turned down, they said I could reapply after getting Disability. I also tried ObamaCare… they told me I did not make any money so that would not apply for me either. So all i could do is wait these almost 3 years since applying for Disability, hoping to make it to the point i could go back to the doctor and get back on my medication. - He mentioned 3 scenarios during the hearing to the Vocational Expert, the 1st had the Expert give 3 jobs (Delivery driver- hard to do since I can not drive from my light sensitivity and migraines, Addresser and Marker- both of which would consist of reading and being in the light)… the 2nd and 3rd scenarios had the Expert say there was no job I could do at all. But mysteriously on the denial report, he fails to mention anything about the 2nd or 3rd scenarios, only the first one listed above. People are prosecuted for fraud, and judge casher deserves to be imprisoned for the fraud he is committing on disabled citizens.

It's not the point my case was denied but the outritht lies and partial truths he used, and how he twisted it around, but he did put it in writing and signed it,so all I know. To do is file complaint with lcq and write letter to potus, which I intend to do,I mean outright lied and left out anything positive for my case!

I read every review of this judge and all I can say about this man is that he is very thorough. I was asked just about every question imaginable so that he could get an accurate picture of my disabilities. I have yet to get the results and we are praying that he gets it right. Judge Casher was very professional. If you are really disabled don't worry. If you are faking I imagine you will be found out. If I get negative results I will be sure to report. Good luck everyone.

Hope you don’t get G. Casher. He thinks he’s a god as he sits high on his thrown. He does not give you a chance of telling your story. He just asks three or four questions. And doesn’t want to hear anymore from you. Waisted three years of my life. If I did not find God in those last 3 years. I would have killed myself. Why go on in such pain. But I have faith in Jesus Christ. Everything will be ok.

Completely Incompetent Judge and System. Not only was my Birth Date incorrect, after fixing it and supplying Documentation...but the decision wasn't even based on what I applied for. The decision was based on information that was completely incorrect and I never once said was an issue. What a waste of time and effort. My dog could've done a better job.

I think Judge Dancy did a very professional job. She asked me a lot of great questions. After which she asked the vocational counselor a lot of great questions. My only concern is that I don't know how much longer I can wait for her decision. I am on the verge of being homeless because I can't work. I lost my kids because I don't have utilities in the delapitated house I currently live in. I am only trying to keep it so I don't lose all the belongs my wife and kids hold so dear.

I had my hearing in June of 2018. I didn’t receive her decision until January of 2019! She denied my claim and according to my attorney, she did not review my serious medical condition! I am on so many drugs for psychosis, diabetes, severe arthritis, etc. How can I be expected to work when I can’t even get out the bed while on these medicines. I am also very sick and is in chronic pain everyday of my life. Not only that, she made a mistake on my age!. I am 52 but she showed my age as 50. She is a very poor Judge! Please cancel your appointment if you get this lady. She does not know what she is doing. Apparently, she needs disability because she does not know what she’s doing. Please RUN if you get this lady for your ALJ!

I have found this judge to be extremely arrogant and dismissive of claimants. He once told a homeless client that "at least he has a tan." He also found that a schizophrenic client was able to socialize/maintain social functioning by going to church... a church he regularly attended because he thought he was Jesus. Your case could go either way- judge will often ignore numerous documents confirming disability by claiming he didn't find the claimant credible.

He was very kind to me, after being denied twice in the past, and he approved me with very few questions at the hearing. He is a fair judge and a good person. I do think he wants to help people and shows compassion. He had really read my records, was knowledgable about my situation and had a few questions about things. He's smarter than the other two judges I saw. Do Not Lie To Him. My lawyer advised me be as honest as I could possibly be even if it makes me look bad as being lied to or omitting things is his thing that really pisses him off. He does ask provoking questions that you may not like answering, but answer them honestly anyway. I did and I was approved, and my answers were a little embarrassing. We don't apply for disability because we're well. Good luck!

This ALJ barely even looked at me during my hearing (June 2012) and never reviewed any medical findings after July 2011, which confirm my diagnosis. Also he basically said I was a liar and therefore denied me any disability benifits at all. I am on 19 prescribed medications, I can barely function while taken them, they have impaired my thinking skills. I also have hyper somnia, means I sleep for hours at any given time of day, but somehow that evidence was not in his report. If I was pushed in to the hearing in a wheel chair with drool hanging from my mouth, maybe he would believe me. But since I am an upbeat person ( to hide all the crap on the inside)he sees me as functional. I have good days and I have bad days , some days I have no pain and other days all I have is pain. I'm a mixed bag-who in their right mind would hire a person like myself? I can't sit or stand for too long, i can only do minimal light non-thinkinh kind of work, I will fall asleep on the job, I will forget the task I've been given and wander the office. I would get fired within a week, that or get that special baseball helmet for my head. this man infuriates me

although judge edison wasnt my judge I understand your frustration my hearing was june 20th and I havent recieved a decision letter in the mail yet. My conditions is left leg ampuation, psoriatic arthritis, and post tramatic stress syndrome. now if that doesnt qualify as disabled after i worked many years in the workforce then what would? I often think the same thing you guys do. what does it take to get approved roll in there on a hospital bed or a wheelchair. however my judge was extremely nice and seemed interested in my case but the low approval rates they have speak for themselves

This judge is cold-hearted and has no empathy for mental illness claimants. He not only called three psychiatrist and a social security psychologist, two primary doctors liars but me as well. His problem is since he can't see the illness physically then you can work. I believe he wants me to go out in the workplace and have one of my mental breakdowns whereby I hurt someone or vice-versa for him to see that a person that suffers with bipolar I & II are very moody people who can't always control themselves. I also suffer with manic depression, PSTD, social anxiety, anxiety, claustophic, panic attacks, OCD, high blood pressure, asthma, bronchitis, heart disease, etc. I am a 50 year old black female who has worked 30 years of her life always giving and caring for others. I have attempted suicide twice because I am my wits end. It took almost 4 years for this unfair system to tell me no I don't qualify for sdi in which I paid into the system. I guess, I will have to prove to this ### and the rest of them that I refuse to let others come here and live off of me when they never worked a day in this country.

This judge made a terrible mistake in judging me incorrectly. She had numerous errors throughout the lengthy denial letter I received, regarding her supposed review of my medical records. She claimed I didn't have proof of several diagnosis' in my records when there was clear cut proof in these records. My third party who was supposed to testify at my hearing was not allowed to do so, and She made allegations in her letter about me that are downright descriminatory and false. She didn't ask me about several things during the hearing but then made statements in her letter accusing me of things she never gave me a chance to confirm or deny. She claims I am still able to work despite the fact I have become so ill that I can't keep up with my own personal hygiene let alone work. I haven't even been able to keep most of my appointments with several of my specialists because I have been too sick to drive myself to them. I have several diagnosis' on the adult list of disabling conditions, and I hope she sees this and knows that she was cruel and wrong about me, and my life has been completely destroyed because of her. I will most likely have to live on the street soon because she denied me benefits I have desperately needed. God help you if you have to have this judge in charge of your hearing. She is irresponsible and descriminatory and shouldn't be allowed to judge with her own personal opinions on a person. She is mean and will destroy your character if she doesn't like the look of you. That is what happened to me. She will destroy your life if she doesn't like you. This judge ruined my life that was already in the toilet from years of suffering from a rare illness.

I understand that this could be taken as "this person got turned down and is upset". I am indeed upset, but it is because I was turned down for completely false reasons. So beware of this Judge. She will use anything she can against you. I thought my rep and I had everything in order. My T's crossed and I's dotted. I was wrong! This judge acted as if my PCP's RFC paperwork didn't exist because one minor thing was not in my medical history. My PCP supports the fact that I am disabled. I also have two other doctors that stated I had MDI's that met the SSA guidelines for disability. She uses things in your medical report that are autofill parts from specialists. Like my wrist Ortho's ROS form that I now know he doesn't fill out except for the reason HE is seeing you. That being my wrist. So he didn't fill out that I have fibromyalgia, severe headaches, back pain, weakness, etc. And that was used against me in the decision letter. Even though it was never asked about at the hearing. This judge seems to discriminate based on your age and medical condition(Still a lot of judges that refuse to see the conditions I have as real). Even though my MDI's are listed in the SSA guidelines she chose to not consider them. There are so many errors in her decision letter that my rep said it will take a while to list them all. So I guess that's a good thing. Problem is that I have been trying to get the disability I deserve for 4 1/2 years now. My family and I are financially ruined. The appeals council will take 14-18 more months per my rep and then if Federal suit is needed, another year or more. My family will be on the streets by then. The SSA system drains everything you have worked hard for in your life and drags the process out over way too many years. Just to be turned down by someone who doesn't follow guidelines and makes wild assumptions with no facts.

I am the single case approved by the Albuquerque Odar ALJ. Mariam C Fernandez Rice in the year of our Lord 2017. The processing office is forcing me to appeal the decision without my consent. In processing the protected application date of the approved title 16 before the approved title 2 is being denied by the processing office. And forcing me to blame the ALJ as being in error. When P.O.M.S. D.I.27515.020 new title 2 D.I.B. claim- title16 disability previously established. Clearly refers the processing office as the responsible entity in favoring the claimant in detail. Please review.

This judge made a horrible mistake in judging my case she just keeped going on about my tattoos and I was just thinking to myself we are not here to talk about tattoos I thought were here to talk about a disability and the reasons why I can’t work but she was really just hung up about the tattoo situation again I was thinking to my self yes lady I know I got tattoos get over it already she was also judgmental on my Personal appearance my age ect so all in all I took her Decision to federal court and was in my favor for an appeal 18 months later here I go again back to court again all over her Mistake she made and For wasting my time at the end of the day she didn’t do her job right if you get this judge for your case be careful on your appearance and also be very careful on what you say she is very Judgmental and well deny your case for any little reason she feels like in my Experience is the worst judge to have.

The Judge is an idiot, in my opinion. She stated, in the decision for my daughter, who can barely get around, that she felt her suited for a hotel housekeeper. Obviously, the woman has lost sense of reality. Why the government employs such a sad excuse for humanity is unknown.

VERY compassionate and nice ALJ - really listens to claimant's and reps and wants to make the correct decision if the medical evidence and SSA Regulations provide for a finding of disability. I have appeared in front of Judge Guice mny ties and she is always fair.

Apparently only good comments are allowed here. So I will see how wonderful it was to have our claim denied by this so called judge. She is a member of the greediest generation and must have had too many approvals and was told to deny a 100% VA rated disabled vet so she could have money for her time share in Florida. She is not fair. She is not compassionate. I can say with the kindness at the bottom of my heart that if you get this person for your case you might as well get ready to be denied.

I found Judge Helmer to be very pleasant to deal with in the courtroom. She told my lawyer, after I left the courtroom, that she found me credible, but when I got her unfavorable decision in the mail, it was totally opposite. She basically refuted everything I said, so I really don't understand that because to me her statement to my lawyer and her decision were totally opposite. In all fairness to Judge Helmer, I did not have enough medical documentation to put my SSI disability through though I didn't realize that at the time since this was my first time going before an administrative law judge.

I thought Mrs Helmer was a very nice and well informed judge. She treated me kindly in her courtroom as did her court reporter. To me, she is a great and fair judge to have for your disability decision.

Judge is by far the best ALJ at the ODAR in Montgomery. He reviews - better said - he READS his cases before a hearing. If a case meets the standards of the law, he approves the case without a hearing. He appreciates a well prepared case and a brief. Distinguished in the conduct of a hearing. Projects impartiality. If he denies a case - I do not appeal - I am confident he has fairly studied the case and strictly uses law, regs, SSR's policy - So, know the law before you go in his hearing.

I pray Judge Intoccoa see this post. My sick sister (Cherrie Stinson) had her hearing on August 19, 2015. The Judge told her she would know his decision within 8 weeks. Today is Ovtober 22, 2015 and she still doesn't know anything. She has triplet boys (ages 9) and they have recieved an eviction notice from public housing. Her lights will be turned off next week. I'm really worried about her severe health and her poor mental state!! Someone PLEASE help!!

Vincent is a thoroughly knowledgeable alj. He reads the file before your hearing. He consults with the lawyer and VE DURING THE HEARING. All my medical evidence was there. He changed my onset date. He swore me in and asked a few questions. The VE replied No to jobs out there for me. Hearing was short and he knew my case before I walked into the roo. And I am pretty sure before I left he knew his decision. He is a real huma. Being with respect to other human beings and follows the rules of his job. Great judge

I was so blessed and grateful to have Judge Johnson hear my case. As soon as I walked into the court room , he dismissed the Vocational Specialist. He stated this case will be very quick and won't take no more than 10 minutes. He only asked me 1 question regarding my condition and said my doctors documentation was sufficient enough for him. He really showed alot of concern for me and my health. It took me exactally 20 months to get a hearing, but after today , April 5, 2016, I can truthfully say after having Judge Paul Johnson hear my case.......it was worth the wait. Thank s to God for seeing me thru during this long ordeal, thanks to my representative for her countless hours of hard and thanks to Judge Johnson for hearing my case and approving it in the same day. All SMILES

I had my hearing 12/09/13 with judge Frank Klinger everything was going smooth for a while until he got to the Ve. He asked him if i could do my past job and he responded with a yes and the other 2 or 3 hypotheticals he said no to so I was wondering if anyone else got approved that way or not. The judge seems a bit nice but I am scared of the outcome that it may bring. I just hope that I got an approval on my case because I have been denied benefits years ago and never got approved.

If there is evidence in the file supporting the claim, he does a good job. If the evidence isn't very clear, he will likely deny the case.

I have appeared before this judge several times representing clients. He is fair, he is prepared, and he understands the law regarding disability claims. If you don't have good medical evidence (as noted by the other commenter on this page), what are you doing at a hearing? SSA can reverse any favorable decision that isn't based on medical records. Why would Judge Labrum waste time approving your claim based on your own personal account, without supporting medical evidence, when it's only going to be reversed when SSA appeals?

Judge Langland looked at what he wanted to see not at the evidence as a whole. Sure I made statements from time to time that I was doing ok. But those times are short lived. He gave more weight to a Psychologist who Ive never met than Dr.s who have treated me for 10+ years. He held it against me that I took my last dime to try and open and run a shop but failed to realize I left the shop because I couldn't handle the stress and **** near had a nervous breakdown over it. He commented that I had no periods of de-compensation which is a blatant falsehood. Anyone who knows me can tell you Ive been unemployed a lot more than employed. I have service related PTSD and Major reoccurring bouts of depression. My whole life is a total wreck. I want nothing more than to work and be normal but I fail at every attempt. I just want to run and hide away in dark places alone. I have stress disorder which makes my brain trigger fight or flight responses. I beg to be normal but Im not and ive faced that reality. Yes people do make positive statements to their Psychiatrists not because we are magically healed but because we have good days and bad. I try and try and want people to see me as ok but in the end Im not ok. My life has been one disaster after another. I hope he can sleep at night knowing he didn't even listen to his own vocational expert. Thanks Mr. Langland for seeing what you wanted to see not the whole story. Ill be filing an appeal immediately.

My hearing appointment took about 9 months. Judge Langland understood my situation and acknowledged that I had tried to resolve the overpayment thru the Wichita office and I then had to move on to see him to resolve the problem. I had tried and tried to resolve the issue thru the Wichita office but no one listened. The Judge recalculated my account and I had a partial favorable decision. Sadly, the powers now are not complying to his order or decision, and the Missouri office has written me 3 times in a month. Each letter indicates there is more than one person on my case, and so far out of the loop. But, no one signs the letters, so I do not have a name to complain. One letter states my W.C. does not affect my S.S. I have not been on W.C. since 2007. Judge Langland seemed fair in my case, the bad part is someone is not following or enforcing his decision. I do not know what to do now, trying to go back to see the judge. It is bad when the Judge makes a decision, and then the decision is not honored by the SSA staff in the Missouri office. I feel totally harassed by the staff in the office.

I cant believe this judge is actually a disability judge! He hasnt a clue about the not so common chronic illness and how it makes that person feel! There are a few not so common chronic illness that turns a persons life upside down in matters of minutes they hole life change. What ones was a active, working, outgoing person turned into a not active person, cant work person, not outgoing person because of all the limitations and bizzare symptoms this chronic illness has. Seems like this judge does not want to hear what the person with the not so common chronic illness has to go through each and every day the struggle, the fight, depression and the emotions and not to give up on life!! It is not just black and white with a not so common chronic illness at least what this judge could do try to do some research on not so common chronic illnesses so he might be able to have a better understanding of what people go through!!! Of course this judge dont walk in that persons shoes so he really doesnt know how their feel in the inside!! It is sad that a persons lifely hood lays in the hand of a judge that has no heart! He surley should not be a disability judge!!!!!

Is there a NEGATIVE RATING???? The only reasonable thing a Claimant and/or a Representative can ask for in a Disability Hearing is that the ALJ be fair - Lassiter is NOT fair. As a matter of fact, he has admitted (off the record, of course) that he 'does not believe in the system' and that he desires to be the lowest paying ALJ. This attitude begs the question, WHY are you behind the bench? When you accepted the job, you knew it was to the a disability ALJ not a District Court Judge (Criminal or Civil) - so...if you are this disgruntled, PLEASE do everyone a favor, including yourself, and do something else!!! Good Bye and Good Luck!

Judge Lassiter, I hadn't heard about how tough you were. I was so nervous because I'd been denied many times before. But you couldn't have been any nicer, more respectful, or compassionate. What people say is true, you are tough and to the point and let us not talk about your poker face...lol. You listen, you read, then you question and wead out the bs but you want what's best for the claimant. Thank you for your approval!!

One word - HORRIBLE!!! He treated me with no respect and acted as if I were lying to him despite the fact that all of my medical records supported my conditions. After I refiled and got a competent Judge, I was approved WITHOUT going to court!!! Speaks volumes!!

Do not know what my cases outcome will be, however these judges should really think about what all people must go through, hardships, pain and suffering, before they appear before them. I was on disability from age 22-27. I was awarded my disability without having to appeal, the FIRST time i applied. Disability did a "review" and in their opinion, i was magically better, so my benefits stopped. I have fought that decision to no avail, i lost. I have reapplied, secured an attorney, and i have went to my odar hearing with judge Walter Lassiter. My attorney even cringed at this judge! She wanted me to concede my case and simply reapply! She did not want to have to go before this judge at all. I haven't came this far for nothing! The VE, Judge both agreed that i can never be "a contributing member of the workforce" and despite Ssa doctors giving ssa the report that i cannot work, i was STILL denied, which is what has brought me to this waiting period. All i can do is grit my teeth and pray for the best. After all, i have 10+ years of social security's doctors records that concur.....I'm mentally disabled.....stop fighting me ssa

I grew up with Walter. He was always an *******!!! He was then, and obviously the that hasnt changed one bit!! He is a little older than me. I was friends with his little brother. When he came home on pass from the military, he would frown down at us. He treated us very poorly!! Instead of imparting wisdom on us, he merely frowned down at us! He will ALWAYS be a "Uncle Tom", in my book!!

Judge Lassiter is the last judge I went before in March 2016. He told me in court, I would get his decision around May 2016. I got a letter the end of December 2016 stating I had to go before yet another judge. I felt like he was condescending and prejudiced against me because I didn't have a lawyer. I had the best lawyer (a lady at ODAR said so), but she didn't win my case the first time, and since that time, I have emailed her office, I have called, and begged them for one more appointment because I have a lot more medical documentation than I had when I went before Judge Helmer. I get absolutely no response. I sure won't recommend her to anyone. I feel like I have done more work on my case than she did. After I got no response from her office after repeated attempts, I contacted another disability lawyer. Her receptionist asked me some questions, and told me they would have to be on my case for a year before another hearing. I don't feel I can hold out that long. As for Lassiter, plain and simple, he was an ***. As stated previously, he was condescending, and a total *** to me. It was apparent he did not like me, and I most certainly did not like him. I really don't even feel he warrants the one star. A judge shouldn't be biased. They should be fair. He most certainly is not that! I understand he is ex-military. I do thank him for his service to our country.

I am so scared to death, i go before this judge in less than 24 hrs. I am so hoping to get a favorable decision. I suffer with a very disabling rare neuropthy. I also have 6 mental health issues, on top of needing surgery on my right shoulder. I haven't been able to afford proper medications that i so desperatly need for almost a year now. I have prayed and asked everyone for prayers for me. I really need this so i can get the proper help i need.

This Judge is Misleading , and dishonest plays the game well and is hurtful in my opinion to society. If the system is truly broke, you might want to start with her in considering why this is. Integrity is missing, Cruelty is verified , A none independent thinker and irrational in her decision making. (poster child for +++) if you would like to witness Orwell 1984 go listen to a disembodied VE, over a phone while trying to keep your head up to stare at a TV to communicate with this Judge, That alone should tell you how much of a criminal everyone looks like in the eyes of our GOV. It is a Humiliating and repugnant experience to be dragged in front of a hearing disabled only to be Harmed with a denial and being called a liar by someone who expressed the cruelty , and carelessness of the beast system well. Pray for our Country.. I mean it, because praying for just the people is not enough.

I was really nervous going into the hearing. I was told that this judge was a very hard and skeptical judge. She did not at all make me feel uncomfortable, and never was she rude. She was to the point and she seems to look at everything. I have not received my decision yet but I would never speak badly of her either way. These judges don't know you personally. They have only documented facts to go by. Anyone going through anxiety about your hearing... just be yourself and be honest. The judges won't bite you. Thank you to all the judges who hear many stories.

I had judge Mcdaniels for a hearing on June 20, 2019 and had a bad experience. This judge didn't let me speak for myself only when spoken to when questioned. My attorney wasn't totally prepared and was treated with disrespect from the judge. I had forwarded papers to her about several health issues immediately after the hearing and she did not take them into consideration for her decisions. This hearing is for you to tell about all your health issues and pain and suffering that you had over the past years while waiting for the hearing.

Only Vote this person as a Judge if Justice is not important too you. I say this cause anytime a Judge who has No medical background can ignore the orders of a Medical Specialist and suggest that a person go against Doctors orders and do things in which the doctor has ordered. Clearly it is not Justice to this. A Judge is just that a Judge not a Medical Professional..

What a hoot! Seems to have his mind made up by the time we sit down. Holds 6 minute hearings. Gives great weight to RFCs. Somewhat of a "Nero" approach, either thumbs up or thumbs down, without excessive narrative. Does not like substance use or middle aged women with mental health issues.

I was denied even though I have more than 4,000 pages of medical records, dozens of doctors supporting my claim and submitting written statements, and the court-appointed vocational expert testified that there was not a job I was suitable to do. Mcgrath ruled against this suggestion and said I could do a job that did not require standing, sitting, working with my hands, concentration, memory, interaction with people, and would allow me to lie down for extended periods of time each hour. I also require a caretaker (who is writing this message as I am unable to do so) on a fulltime basis to feed, cloth, bathe, drive, make appointments and manage my dr. schedule, clean, cook, and take care of basically all of my needs/activities of daily living. He made the decision in less than 5 minutes and asked me less than 10 quick questions. His decision was overturned on appeal and has been sent back to be heard in court for a second time. I first applied for disability in 1999 and have spent the last 6 years appealing his ruling. I am going back to court in the next 6 months or so and will let you know who I get and the judgement.

Judge Frederick McGrath claimed he could not read the RFC filled out by my doctor because "the doctor's handwriting was not completely legible and his signature was indistinguishable." There were approximately 30 cases he ruled on before he saw me the day of my hearing and it seemed like he had already made up his mind on each case before the people even entered the courtroom. He wrote about my mental health in his official ruling even though my claim was entirely a physical case with all of my mental health issues (depression because I am unable to work) being a direct result of my physical disability.

Yes he has mind made up before the hearing. He schedules way too many hearings on one given day and they are conducted to quick. Rarely uses a VE. The Jacksonville ODAR is filled with fairly negative ALJs.

Our office has had numerous hearings with Judge McGrath. He has a reputation for scheduling several hearings at the same time and taking them on a first come/first served basis; will start early if you get there early; does NOT like submission of medical records on the day of the hearing. Generally does not ask for opening; lets rep do most of questioning and just cuts in when he has a question. I think he often has a good idea of how he feels about a case and uses the hearing to see if it changes his mind. His award rate is not out of line, so he's not denying everything that comes through the room. (Claimants need to understand it isn't the number of pages of records you have, but how well the opinions are supported by clinical evidence, diagnositic testing and your own credibility).

my first claim was DENIED by this alj, even though he stated in his decision that i did in fact have two severe impairments.. of course the AC kept his ruling intact and my atty filed in federal court. well here it is 6 1/2 yrs from initial filing and 3 yrs after it was denied at appeals council and taken to fdc, my claim was remanded due to ERROR by the alj for NOT giving my treating doctors RFC any weight and going by what the ssa med examiner (which i never saw to begin with)said at some point before my initial denial (which only took a few months to get)..my hearing was NOT that quick, and also we waited for at least 15-20 minutes before hearing started as the VE was LATE. mind you judge started without the VE, and he finally arrived about 10 minutes before my hearing was over..he heard me answer the last 2 question is all. yet the judge took his opinion that there were thousands of jobs in the national economy within our region that i could do?? i am like the rest of you, i believe he has his mind made up before you go in the door...well, he messed up on this one and now i get a new hearing and hopefully with another judge

This Judge knows his job. He gets straight to point and does not waste anytime or taxpayers money. He is well prepared. He has an idea of what his decision will be before the hearing. He shows concern about the claimant and takes everything into consideration. He does his job well without hesitation. He can see right through a person if they are full of BS. Great service for the people!

As an attorney, I practice before several Social Security hearings offices and numerous judges throughout the Southeast. My experience with Judge McGrath has been consistently positive, and I have found him to be fair-minded and efficient in his handling of cases where I have appeared before him. While he takes a streamlined, no-nonsense approach to hearings, he appears to do this out of a sense of duty to move his cases efficiently and to minimize delay in resolving claims where claimants have already been required to wait months (or even years) without income leading up to finally getting their day in court.

ALJ McGrath went above and beyond recently, and by his efforts, allowed my client her hearing when there had been a serious miscommunication regarding my client's file (it had been sent to another hearing office by mistake, and the hearing cancelled - all without notice to myself or my client). Another ALJ might have shrugged their shoulders and said nothing could be done, so sorry; ALJ McGrath instead tracked the file down, had it sent back to North, and worked the hearing into his already scheduled docket. While we are still awaiting results, we are grateful to have been able to conduct the hearing as we had planned, especially since my client traveled from TN to Athens for the hearing. Thank you Judge McGrath!

My wife just had her hearing with Judge McGrath, regardless of the outcome I thought he was very understanding and compassionate toward my wife, took his time in letting her answer questions and even helped her word the correct response when she fumbled,( She was very nervous) Impressed with him stopping the proceeding because of a volume problem and having the people come in and repair so there was no mis-communication. Straight to the point and procedural Judge.

I had my hearing 24 May 2017 with Melissa J Mcintosh. This was my first and only hearing since initially being denied 2 years ago when I first filed. I have just been waiting on the hearing. Mrs. Mcintosh is very nice, friendly, respectful and courteous. I was not expecting it, but at the end of the hearing, she even thanked me for my service to our country. That in itself is worth a star! She made me feel at ease through the entire hearing. I don't get nervous in front of people anyway but just the same, it was great having such a nice Judge. My 5 stars have nothing to do with being approved/disapproved because I have not received her decision yet since the hearing was just a few days ago.

Hearing was 24 June 2019. Here it is 28 October 2019 and still no determination. Very frustrating with minimal funds to live on and medical bills continuing to pile up. I understand normal wait time is 2-3 months, but this is ridiculous. This is my 3rd attempt at filing. With both hips replaced, multiple back surgeries and sever depression, seems to be no hope in sight. I suppose one has to be on their death bed to rate benefits.

I went before Judge Neel in April of 2015 in Tampa. I had a very high-paying career but unfortunately I have been unable to work since March of 2011. My medical bills are frequent and high, and I am on or have been on nearly a dozen medications. Some days it is a severe struggle just to exist. I was rapidly losing hope of receiving the assistance I need. When I received the notification of my hearing and that I was going before Judge Neel, I knew almost nothing about her except her record. In person I found Judge Neel to be extremely attentive, very compassionate, truly fair, and she seemed genuinely interested in my well-being. She told me that she wanted me to take proper care of myself and to improve my eating habits and to try and find a way to get in some exercise: all very excellent advice. Judge Neel clearly takes her position as a guardian of the SSDI trust very seriously, and I was extremely gratified that she issued a fully favorable ruling in my case. Judge Neel may not realize it, but because of her compassion for my disabilities and her willingness to help me, she is not only helping me to manage my issues, but she is helping the tremendous burden that my condition places on my family. Thank you, Judge Neel.

To whom it may concern, In my Herat of hearts I believe the judge did not take the time to see the BIG PICTURE. I'm in need and feeling hopeless and helpless. Back in April 2014 was my first denial. Then another, then I went before the judge. That time I had a lawyer that I never spoke with or had any communication till 5 minutes before my hearing. I went in and then another denial. My denial said because I was seeing a PA instead of a DR that a PA are not qualified enough and many more things. I have PTSD due to being beaten and molested starting at age 4. I have flashbacks all the time. I have severe depression and it's hard to leave my house, she also gave no weight to my therapist saying how bad of shape I'm in and can't work. In 2013 is when I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. From then I tried to work another full year, in which I had to quit due to my pain, and my depression. Then I was diagnosed with very high bp, high cholesterol, gout, carpal tunnel and arthritis in my hands which makes it so I can't open or carry anything. If we leave the house I need to take an electric scooter because I can only walk for a few minutes. At home I need to put my feet above heart level several times a day due to all my swelling. How could I possibly work when I need to do this? Not to mention if I have to type or text I can only do it with one finger. I am now considered to be morbidly obese because I can barely walk due to the fibromyalgia, and my hypothyroidism. I can only sit or stand for just a few minutes st a time. Because I can't work and I don't have any money from disability, my pain has worsened and I continue to gain weight. I have gone from about 20 pills a day to about 4 because I have no money. I have been through repeated withdrawals. And to add to all of this I now have diabetes. So my day consist of laying around in pain and crying. Since I had to leave my job I've lost my car, I've come close to losing my house several times. We've had to max out credit cards for food and my meds. I would prefer to be working and making money instead of fighting like crazy trying to get a disability check of a big whopping $430 a month. I couldn't in a million years know a person that would quit their job to sit at home for that amount. My work credits are going to expire and I don't have time to start all over. My case in at the appeals council for review. I did qualify for them to expedite my case, however that's not gonna help me and my family if I get another denial. I need help, we need help. So many people deserve it and are denied. From what I read my judge denies most of her cases. I am in support groups for fibromyalgia. I've met many women who were approved with just fibromyalgia with seeing a PA and having no other diagnosis. And we're approved in the same building I was denied. How can cases be on a pick and choose basis? I have no more fight left in me. After my denial by the judge, I was close to suicide. I'm not sure how I can handle another denial. I'm hurting and I'm desperate. I can't even afford to see my PA anymore. Someone has got to please look over my case and to be a little more human when they are reviewing a case. Not everyone is looking to screw the system and live off of a few bucks. When my credits expire I'm done I can't do anything else. This appeal is my last chance. I just can't keep being a burden to my husband and my adult kids. I just don't know what else to say but please help me. I've sent letters to my congressman and to the mayors office, the governor, and to the Division of Disability Determination. I know there are tons of cases waiting to be reviewed, I'm not better or more deserving, im just a person in a lot of pain who's work credits are going to expire. I need a miracle! A fully favorable decision. Can't someone somewhere help??? Like maybe my denial judge.. Angela L Neel Thanks for taking the time to read this. Desperately yours, N S Sent from my iPad

I thought for sure I was going to lose my hearing, I went into the room with no confidence what so ever. I suffer from PTSD, GAD, depression, memory loss, chronic pain and I have IBS from a near fatal accident. When I met Judge Neel she was very nice and very personable, she put me at ease when I sat down and her questions were asked in a manner that wasn't intrusive or very hard to answer, I got confused a couple of times because I don't process information like I used to and formulating words is still a daunting task for me. I can't remember how long the hearing lasted? but I was happy to hear she would approve me with an amended onset date, now I'm just waiting on the decision letter and approval letter. A huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders even though I still have a wait time before I recieve benefits but I guess I'll just have to keep making it day by day and taking it one day at a time like I have been and continue to try to get better. I'm also very happy that I'll be able to have my severe neck pain addressed and will be able to see my Psychiatrist Dr. Pillai again (I had health insurance but couldn't afford it anymore and lost all my benefits), now that I can get approved for Medicaid, it'll be a year before I can get Medicare. Judge Neel is a really great Judge, she is fair and compassionate and she doesn't want to see me fail so I'm hoping one day I can go back to school and work. We'll see where my road to recovery takes me. So please don't rely on these negative ratings of her, if your claim is legit, your medical file is strong and you are truly disabled I wouldn't worry about having her as your judge. Thank you Judge Neel, you changed my whole outlook on my future and now I feel like I have a chance at life again.

Judge Neel is a very pleasant ALJ. It always hasn't been this way with certain judges in this office (thankfully they are gone now). However, if you are under the age of 50, you can pretty much forget an approval from her. As of this writing, she has the lowest approval rating of them all. That should tell you plenty. Stats don't lie. Although she is "up" from her 28% approval rating when she was in Tampa. Progress? 5 stars for being pleasant, courteous and professional. 0 stars for bieing biased against younger individuals. 3 stars overall.

Finally, in this very long process, I was able to explain myself in person and not just receive the rubber-stamp denial. It took two long years and I am so grateful to have been able to sit in front of Judge Neel and have her actually listen to me and understand what I was facing. She was compassionate, caring, professional and most of all - understanding! Thank you Judge Neel!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart Judge Neel for taking the time and having patience with my Husband Todd Bowers. This has been a long and trying road for us. He was so nervous and really was shaken up, so thank you again for allowing him the opportunity during his hearing.

If you're under the age of 50, you can pretty much forget being approved. At 27% approval, you cannot argue with this theory. While very pleasant in the hearing, she has her mind made up before you walk in there. If the national average for judges approving case is around 42%, an approval rate of 27% indicates something is bad wrong here. Unfortunately, bad things happen to people under 50. This judge doesn't seem to care about that. One star for being nice in the hearing.

Judge: Angele Pietrangelo Was my Judge. I feel she listened very attentively. I Think she will be more than fair on my case. Just wanted to rate her before the decision is made to be fair by her performance. Just wish the decision writers was a little bit faster. My case was August 7th but stayed open 2 weeks so the Judge could get a medical record that had not been sent.

Judge PIETRANGELO heard my case last week. Unaware of my outcome, however she was very clearly on her expectations, how the proceedings were going to happen, and what you expect. She was very thorough in my case notes, documents and questioning. The interactions between her and my attorney were very professional as well as the VE. I believe she is very fair and respectful. Her decision will be fair and based on facts and not opinions. Im looking forward to my decision

My lawyer totally misrepresented me. He had none of the specialist paper work , had no history of my case. And I hired this firm do to the yrs of experience they claimed to of had.never even had a closing argument..and looked like he was fresh out of high school.it was like i was reading the first time I was denied . She had nothing more to go on. and I'm really sorry he wasted her time my time all involved for that matter. I'm lost on what to do at the point. I've got surgery coming up for ankles followed by back surgery. I'm sending in an apology letter and the much needed information the judge needs on my behalf. Gonna ask firm to withdraw and waive there fees from my case. I can't do any worse on my own than what they've already done . Do be aware as to whom you are hiring.

I pray for anyone who goes before this judge. It doesn't matter if your doctor fights for you or not, she will tear your records apart and pick what she wants to hear. I especially feel for anyone with suicidal tendencies that go before her, as she is more like to leave you homeless or cause your death than to approve your disability. She has no clue how terrible mental illnesses are to live with, nor does she care.

I am so greatful to Judge Shaughnessy for her approving my Soc Sec Disability this time last year. She saw through the negatives of my case & recognized that my set of challenges warranted an approval. I just don't know where i'd be medically as well as socially if this had not occurred. The income has helped to adjust to a somewhat debilitating situation & now i can purchase all my meds without taking half doses or skipping. As far as i'm concerned Judge Candace Shaughnessy is an angel in disguise. She certainly was an instrument of God's grace! I shall never stop thanking God enough for her ruling. I wish she & her family the most perfect Christmas a family can have, can i do any less! Thank you for allowing me to share what's been in my heart for a year now. Happy Holiday!

I felt that Judge South knew somehow exactly where i was coming from and how much ive suffered. He was compassionate and took time with me answering questions, etc. I have been in so much pain with so many health problems and i dont know how i would have lived without my approval, which means income and insurance. Just make sure that your doctors give good legible notes because otherwise ANY judge will have a hard time determining your case.

Judge South was very nice and helpful and advised me to retain counsel before proceeding with my hearing, promising he would get me a new hearing date in a timely manner and he did so.

I had my court date on 11-6-2014. My attorney and I were well prepared. My doctors record well documented everything we said impaired me mentally and physically. I have not received the judgement at this time. ILJ Carl B Watson was very nice and he had a tremendous amount of respect for my attorney and I. He was well prepared and already had a lot knowledge about me and my disabilities. He deserves all the respect from anyone who goes before him. Thanks Judge Carl B Watson.

Had my hearing before Judge Watson 8/14/19. Everything said here holds true to my experience before him. He was very prepared familiar with my file. Very respectful to everyone and listened. He was very patient when I lost my composure and cried. For me courtrooms always sound scary but he is calm natured and it helped me be more at ease. I too don't know his decision yet but I left feeling he heard me and my attorney and when he said he would review everything and make a decision I really got the sense he was wise and fair. What more could anyone ask for in a disability judge?

I had been before to a hearing several years ago and it was extremely nerve wracking. I went into this hearing having refiled several years after my last denial as I did as the judge recommended and was unable to successfully work in 2 different types of work environments. I was extremely nervous going into my hearing this time to the point of physically shaking but judge Watson was very nice and calming in the way he conducted the hearing and asking and listening to me and my attorney. He definitely has my respect and although I have just had my hearing before him I feel he will make the right choice.

Dishonest, Lying, Corrupt, vicious, unfair, federaly appointed judge that treated my case with NO concerns except her own. Weaver dismissed reports from all doctors and testimony from myself and witnesses that spoke on my behalf. She is nothing more than a federally appointed bully... Before my case was dismissed by Weaver and SSD I was diagnosed with "Occipital Neuralgia" by the VA with a 90% disability rating and approved for full disability by the military. Those records were submitted to Weaver and the SSD Appeals Council and Weaver and SSD refused to consider or review my New evidence in my case and closed my case forever. SHAME ON YOU Cynthia G. Judge Cynthia G Weaver received my request for off the record, she had all of my information medical, my backup proof of things I disputed, and all my work credits were correct. She paid no attention to a previous judge, didn't care about real evidence and what my many illnesses have done to me and my life. She couldn't have had my file for over 1/2 day and probably didn't read it because within the next day my online social security account said medical decision made(I thought it was in my favor), but two days later it said claim denied(ssdi) and case closed. She ignored my request to keep my hearing as scheduled and if she could not return a favorable decision it would go on. She closed it, and now I have nothing to show for all the credits I have earned. Can't get anything now because my credits have expired for this time frame. I am not sure how she gets away with being so unfair, but the comments left by everyone else about her show the same thing. Maybe she needs to be looked at., her approval rating is the lowest of any ODAR Judge-16%. You have officially ruin my life Judge Weaver
