Five stars! Compassionate and knowledgable. She kind of rambles through the medical records, commenting on things she notices. As an attorney I hardly asked a single question. The hearing was fast, the result good (and fair!).

I would rate this judge five stars because she looks at all the evidence before making decisions.Very happy!

I found Judge Alston very thorough. She had true compassion toward me. Most are quick to judge because of my age, 47. To which my usual response would be "you lay pavers, shovel limerock & carry heavy equipment for 10+ yrs, & contact me when your 47" Judge Alston did not do that. Instead she reviewed my medical records very thoroughly and asked pertinent questions related to my injuries how they can to be and limitations. I attended the hearing without an attorney, (fired them just weeks prior to hearing date notification). I had absolutely no idea what to expect, my anxiety was high & was in tears for the majority. She was amazing in keeping me calm & to focus. Her words soothing. When it's hard to even leave your home, physically & mentally it's a nice relief to find someone in her position that is able to make someone as I feel comfortable enough to control my tears & answer the questions she had. My decision has yet to come in,Whatever her decision, I am confident she will review all information submitted. Five

She was so much nicer than I thought. She made the entire situation easier on me, even though I was having terrible anxiety attacks. And she had a great sense of humor and was very friendly and chill person.

I believe most of the decisions boil down to which alj you are appointed. I went before this alj and was not so fortunate. Part of this was my very own fault for forgetting to share some more of my health conditions (that just shows my memory problems also) OR IS IT REALLY? From my understanding, the alj is given all of your health conditions BEFORE the hearing and has them right there in front of them. I have hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, arthritis in my back, depression, hypertension and hypertensive heart disease. Some of these are conditions that I could die from within a year. People die from heart disease every year. However, according to "Findings of fact and Conclusions of law", the only severe impairment I have is hypertension. And there is only one medication that I can take for my hypertension because my system does not tolerate any of the other medications for hypertension. I was also honorably discharged from the U.S. military. Evidently, none of that matters. I tried to be as respectful and honest as I could be with this alj. I even answered his question(s) wrong at time(s) because I did not understand him at that moment. What does THAT tell anyone? I was seeing a psychiatrist in jr high school because I was beating up kids. There are also inconsistencies in my decision. It states that I am obese. The alj himself saw me and I have never weighed over 225 pounds in my life and I have never been obese. Ask anyone that knows me. And if I am obese, then why did my family Doctor tell me that I have lost weight and she wants me to GAIN weight? Anyone with common sense knows that a method of lowering your hypertension is to lose weight, NOT GAIN it. It also states that I exercise. I do not and CANNOT exercise. I tried doing that and I had to stop because it bothers my heart. And just because I can prepare meals on a daily basis, count change, pay bills and go food shopping, again-I am not considered to be disabled. HELLO-Do you have any idea how many people are on disability that can prepare meals on a daily basis, count change, pay bills and go food shopping? And I DO have problems getting along with neighbors so THAT part that I DON'T is inaccurate. It also states that there is an assessment from a male Doctor about me that I have never heard about. All the mental health Doctors that I have recently seen are all FEMALE. So this male "Doctor" does not know me to the best of my knowledge so how can he judge ME? And just because I did not threaten or try and harm these so called "Doctors" , I am not believed to be disabled. I truly believe these mental health "Doctors" need Doctors themselves , as well as RE-EDUCATION because they do not know what they are doing or what they are talking about. Unfortunately, people tend to believe whatever they say. My very own back Doctor said I am DISABLED. This judge gives that little weight because the decision is up to the Judge. HOWEVER ---------- This Judge DOES give a LOT of weight to a Doctor that I have never heard about in saying that I am not disabled. Is that FAIR? Absolutely NOT. He gives little weight to one Doctor, and a lot of weight to another that I have no idea who he is. If you give little weight to one Doctor, then give little weight to ALL Doctors, and vice versa. It seems you have to have at least one foot in the grave in order to receive disability. I know people in better condition than ME that are receiving disability. I am done here. I will not waste any more of my time appealing or starting over. The Government can keep the money.

I ALSO HAVE AS MENTIONED HYPERTROPHIC CARDIOMYOPATHY AS DIAGNOSED BY DR JAMES T CONNELY, A HIGHLY KNOWN AND RESPECTED HEART DOCTOR THAT HAS BEEN A HEART DOCTOR FOR QUITE A WHILE - SO BY THIS "JUDGE" SAYING ALL I HAVE WRONG WITH ME IS HYPERTENSION, THIS JUDGE IS CALLING THIS HEART DOCTOR A LIAR.

I had a hearing with him in October 2014 and as of today-- I am still waiting on a decision. Every time I call his office some rude guy named Reggie answers. All he tells me is that the Judge is still deciding my case and that he works at "his own pace." Really?! In the meantime, I'm sick and on the verge of losing everything. I understand that this is a long process and that checks & balances are important. But at the end of the day this is a broken & corrupt system. SHAME on you, Judge Begley.

It took the judge 5 months to issue his unfavorable decision. His 28% pay rate tells you everything you need to know. In our case the record was uncontradicted and I had 2 solid "less than sedentary" RFCs from the treating physician to support our allegations of disability. The ALJ totally disregarded the treating physician RFCs, and relied on the outdated opinions of the non-examining State Agency reviewing physicians to support his denial. With no other contradictory opinions from any other examining source, the denial was a clear case of the ALJ substituting his opinions for those of the treating physician, and I will definitely be appealing the decision to the Appeals Council. If you have the unfortunate luck to appear in front of this judge, develop your record for the appeal. No stars because he had no evidence to support his denial, just his slanted opinion.

I have an appeal case for my daughter on file and I beleive the judge will expedite on her behalf...Everyone has different cases and the position of a judge isnt easy. Sometimes we tend to think they dont know what theyre doing but they only base your case on evidence and facts...I have a disabled child and its nit easy doing my job either but I deal with it and dont complain..Noone asks to be born this way.

This Judge is an incompetent ditz. She made such major procedural errors during the hearing, the appeals council is remanding her unfavorable decision. I wish SSA would hire more ALJS who are competent and professional! It would save a lot of time and money if there were more competent ALJs.

I had a triple A aortic disection and a torn femeral artery in one day. It changed my whole life in the blink of an eye. I was very lucky to live but, it came with an unexpected comciqence. My hearing is tomorrow. It's been almost 3 long years. I hope this ALJ looks at all my evidence and rules in my favor. I have no other options. I'll post back when I get my decision. My lawyer said I have a great case but, I think all lawyers will tell you that.

My case was heard by judge Jane A Crawford on Oct 27 2014. Was wondering how long it usually takes to know if I was approved or not cause I haven't heard anything yet. Judge Jane Crawford was nice. To me I was very nervous. I had a lawyer and still had to do a lot of talking. Still waiting on the desicion.

Judge Jane Crawford had heard my case in 2013. I was the first case on a Monday morning at 8:30 am. She was living proof that she was pure **** on that day. She was a very hateful. And even if I had a good case she still denied my claim. I can only hope that she herself has to stand in front of a judge just as mean as she was.

She is down right abusive verbally. She is not a doctor and despite 4 doctors testimony denied my case. I had 2 IMEs that said I couldn't work and she chose to disregard them. How does she get away with this. She needs to get knocked off her high horse and get a job as a botton counter. She has no business being a judge because she thinks everyone is lying. She should be held accountable for her actions and the many lives she has ruined.

Judge Diamond is thorough and methodical. You can tell by the questions she asks that this judge reviews everything prior to the hearing. She gives the claimant an opportunity to comment when there are differences between the testimony and the written record but makes it clear that she expects them to be truthful. She is soft spoken but tough and fair. Judge Diamond expects reps to be prepared and does not like when they repeat what has already been covered.

Judge diamond will confuse and manipulate the facts in order to deny you. She is rude and disrespectful. In my husbands case she twisted the facts and wrote the total opposite of what was said at the hearing. If I could give her a negative rating I would.

I had a video hearing in front of Judge Diamond 3 years ago. She treated myself and my rep with respect and was very fair. She asked questions about parts of my case that needed to be explained and about how my disability affected my life. These are obviously things she needs to do to make a fair decision. I answered all her questions truthfully without trying to think how it might affect her decision and I could tell she respected that. for example: sometimes I am able to do certain things (shopping with my husband helping me) but most of the time I can't. I am not completely bed bound and would never try to pretend that I was. She had already read my case before the hearing and knew what area's she wanted some extra info on. We even had a short conversation about our dogs, after questions from her about any pets and how or if I could care for them. All in all I can not understand any of the bad reviews she has received from people here .. all I can think is maybe they tried to pull the wool over her eyes as even though she was very nice it is clear she is no one's fool and knows her stuff. I was approved but even if I had not been, I could not have given her a bad review as I was treated well by this Judge while she was doing her job.

Judge Diamond is grossly unfair and biased. It is horrible she sits in judgment of those seeking disability relief, given her extensive biases. I feel sorry for her. I appeared before him last May 2015 where he gave me a bench approval....because of him I got Medicare insurance which I needed for an Mri because they are sooooo expensive.... well, after 4 MRI's 7 x-rays , a lumbar puncture and a total body scan I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis yesterday. The MS was not known at the time of my appearance but every doctor I have been to had that suspicion but was unable to confirm because of the cost of testing. I am so grateful that he was my judge.

Judge Sandra Dimaggio Wallis really helped my wife in receiving her fully favorable decision. She was a very understanding Judge being that my wife suffers with debilitating complex regional pain syndrome (crps) and bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome (cts). Thank you so very much Judge Sandra Dimaggio Wallis!!! You are the best!! May God bless you tremendously!

This judge made a terrible mistake in judging me incorrectly. She had numerous errors throughout the lengthy denial letter I received, regarding her supposed review of my medical records. She claimed I didn't have proof of several diagnosis' in my records when there was clear cut proof in these records. My third party who was supposed to testify at my hearing was not allowed to do so, and She made allegations in her letter about me that are downright descriminatory and false. She didn't ask me about several things during the hearing but then made statements in her letter accusing me of things she never gave me a chance to confirm or deny. She claims I am still able to work despite the fact I have become so ill that I can't keep up with my own personal hygiene let alone work. I haven't even been able to keep most of my appointments with several of my specialists because I have been too sick to drive myself to them. I have several diagnosis' on the adult list of disabling conditions, and I hope she sees this and knows that she was cruel and wrong about me, and my life has been completely destroyed because of her. I will most likely have to live on the street soon because she denied me benefits I have desperately needed. God help you if you have to have this judge in charge of your hearing. She is irresponsible and descriminatory and shouldn't be allowed to judge with her own personal opinions on a person. She is mean and will destroy your character if she doesn't like the look of you. That is what happened to me. She will destroy your life if she doesn't like you. This judge ruined my life that was already in the toilet from years of suffering from a rare illness.

I understand that this could be taken as "this person got turned down and is upset". I am indeed upset, but it is because I was turned down for completely false reasons. So beware of this Judge. She will use anything she can against you. I thought my rep and I had everything in order. My T's crossed and I's dotted. I was wrong! This judge acted as if my PCP's RFC paperwork didn't exist because one minor thing was not in my medical history. My PCP supports the fact that I am disabled. I also have two other doctors that stated I had MDI's that met the SSA guidelines for disability. She uses things in your medical report that are autofill parts from specialists. Like my wrist Ortho's ROS form that I now know he doesn't fill out except for the reason HE is seeing you. That being my wrist. So he didn't fill out that I have fibromyalgia, severe headaches, back pain, weakness, etc. And that was used against me in the decision letter. Even though it was never asked about at the hearing. This judge seems to discriminate based on your age and medical condition(Still a lot of judges that refuse to see the conditions I have as real). Even though my MDI's are listed in the SSA guidelines she chose to not consider them. There are so many errors in her decision letter that my rep said it will take a while to list them all. So I guess that's a good thing. Problem is that I have been trying to get the disability I deserve for 4 1/2 years now. My family and I are financially ruined. The appeals council will take 14-18 more months per my rep and then if Federal suit is needed, another year or more. My family will be on the streets by then. The SSA system drains everything you have worked hard for in your life and drags the process out over way too many years. Just to be turned down by someone who doesn't follow guidelines and makes wild assumptions with no facts.

I am the single case approved by the Albuquerque Odar ALJ. Mariam C Fernandez Rice in the year of our Lord 2017. The processing office is forcing me to appeal the decision without my consent. In processing the protected application date of the approved title 16 before the approved title 2 is being denied by the processing office. And forcing me to blame the ALJ as being in error. When P.O.M.S. D.I.27515.020 new title 2 D.I.B. claim- title16 disability previously established. Clearly refers the processing office as the responsible entity in favoring the claimant in detail. Please review.

The Judge is an idiot, in my opinion. She stated, in the decision for my daughter, who can barely get around, that she felt her suited for a hotel housekeeper. Obviously, the woman has lost sense of reality. Why the government employs such a sad excuse for humanity is unknown.

She was awesome! I could really tell she was giving my case her full attention, and asked questions. She was patient, as I was so scared, and never looked harsh or annoyed. She made her decision with speed, and did exactly what she said. In fact, my notice of decision came 5 days after the hearing. Hearing was on a Thursday, and I knew on Tuesday. She is fair, respectful, and considered all factors in my case

I have not heard one good thing from a lawyer on this judge. Most lawyers describe her as appalling and only got a seat as a judge to handle case load. Whoever wrote that positive response above must be a friend of hers, you dont get decisions back in five days.

Hello. My wife had a hearing before an ALJ last week. She was told it would be 30-90 days or longer before a decision is made. This is a huge problem because she suffers from severe depression which is well documented by her treating doctor for over 2 years, a evaluation done by a psychologist working for the Dept. of Education here and a IME which she paid for. All of them say she has a variety of problems and cannot handle a work environment. She is 57. Now all she does is lie in bed and falls asleep while watching TV, wakes up again and goes back to sleep. This goes on 24 hours a day. She does not get out of bed except to go to the bathroom. She hardly eats anything. I am worried that she is going to get physically ill from this potentially very very long wait for a decision. She told me if she does not get SSDI she will kill herself because she cant work and wont have any money. She hasnt worked in 4 years after getting fired from job after job due to her inability to remember things and lack of concentration among other things. She finally sought help through our County health clinic and has been going there for 2 years. I make a little above minimum wage and it has been very difficult for us to live. Is there any way on earth to find out if she is going to be approved or disapproved in a short time? Any answers to this?

Had my hearing yesterday. Judge Fuller sets a comfortable tone in her court. I was nervous all morning until the start of the hearing. Judge Fuller was very pleasant & made me feel much more at ease. She listened to everything I had to say. Very professional and courteous. Hearing was over quickly & she was kind enough to tell me immediately that she intends to approve my case instead of making me wait for an official decision letter to come in the mail in 4-6 weeks. This world would be a better place if there were more people like her. Also she is very easy on the eyes. Thank you judge Fuller it was a pleasure to meet you. My deepest thanks for your help. Very sincerely, Robert Dailey.

It is not a given nor a privilege but it is Awarded based on one issue the medical record of evidence. But I want to explain how it is in reality. The length of time a person is under care of a doctor that certify That because of a medically determined disease or condition of illness that prevents the ordinary function of vital organs causing medically determined disability . Over a continuous one year period of time or greater Then substantial gain activity or work Disqualifying Total amount of work credits Have to be more then 40 credits to qualify And you have to of been employed in the past 5 years For your primary insurance to not end There has to be a medical record of evidence that reflects a medically determined impairment causing the disability . Before your primary insurance end date . Then if they process it expeditiously However You have to hope that they didnt archive your file Then it comes down to this It really dont matter what your doctor Writes about on your disability You could even be considered encapacitated by all means Disabled by definition of the word The doctor certify it You follow doctors orders and dont get any work to support yourself windup homeless on street living in POVERTY because no cash income And the opinion of the agents at the social security administration and There bosses. Have the opinion that you can still work although you cant do your ordinary work you can do some work of some kind . The decision they make from there opinion of you medically carry more weight then the doctor that diagnosed you The decision unfavorable And your life ruined because you believed the doctor of who's care your under Then if you are just physically disabled you are years proving your extent of disability But if it is a mental defect claim You get approved extraordinarily quick Get your back pay Get housed and a check every month I worked 30 years Our on drs order for 10 years

Judge Greenberg is a very fair judge who listened closely to eveything I had to say. He could clearly see that I am unable to work and made his decision before the hearing was even over. This was a tremendous relief to me and I am very grateful for his immediate decision. Not having to wait for a letter in the mail saved me weeks of anxiety. Thank You!

Disregarded the opinions of my medical professionals, also no regard for the social security doctors opinions and denied disability. This judge gave no weight to overwhelming evidence proving disability. It is shameful and unprofessional. Looking at his track record he denied almost half of all claims.

Tells you to "present your case" and then interrupts, interjects, cross examines and humiliates the claimant. If claimant's treating source has the audacity to charge a fee for a medical source statement, this judge will use it to discredit the opinions of the treating physician.

Awful adjudicator with a very poor knowledge of the Rulings and Regulations. His decisions are easy to appeal: they are so full of holes you could drive a Mack truck through them. My advice to you is if you are given a video hearing with this judge, OBJECT. Ask for an in-person hearing at your local ODAR because this man will do you no favors.

Judge has a "God complex". You sir are charged with administering the LAW. YOU do not hold a MEDICAL license. YOU have no right to discredit what a doctor or several doctors state is a real disability to the point where someone is disabled. When a medical team including the IME's state a person is disabled what right does this idiot have to say a client is not? He is a joke and a discredit to anyone who rightfully administers the law. He is not concerned with protecting and upholding the law. He is focused on denying claims (see this clowns track record). When a judge dismisses 49% of all claims halfway through the year (2014) it should be an alarm to the court system that he is corrupt and should be investigated. He is completely clueless on how to do his job and should be disbarred and tried for his dis-service to the American people.

Here it is in a "nutshell"...this judge has a terrible approval rating....it is crystal clear to me that he does not listen to any witness testimony at all...he disregards all medical records, he disregards your lawyer testimony, he disregards his own disability doctors, he disregards all the claimants doctors and his own vocational expert...with that being said...how could anyone win a case that is brought before him?...it is clear to me that he already decided on a "denial" before the hearing started...In my humble opinion, his top priority is denying claims no matter what and that is SAD....so very sad that this is how our country and lawmakers treat people who have become medically disabled...the only witness he found credible was the insurance/disability doctor that looked at the records before the hearing (never examined me at all) and stated "that I am not disabled at all and can return to my previous job".....wow.....really? Funny how he listened to her testimony huh? Talk about a scam.....yup that's right....A SCAM

No one e has a positive comment about this judge, even past workers in office. These workers told me to withdraw my application and file a new one. Since there is no decision, they can use records prior to withdrawal. The states DDS approval is twice his percentage. I should have listened. He makes quick decisions, if you receive a notice within 2 weeks it is a denial. His mind is made up prior to hearing. The only records he reviews is the ones from their paid for doctors and vocational expert's first jobs you can perform. Most vocational experts magically find these jobs you can do even though they are not within your restrictions. He gives not weight to specialist in their field, especially ones you were referred to. New regulations allow such behaviors, but Appeals Council remands most of his denials, but you will have to wait around a year. Again once you see he is assigned your ALJ, withdraw and refile. His office's wait for a hearing has decreased drastically, some within 5 months. Another tactic I was told to avoid ODARS with low approval is get a mail box at a place like Mail Box Ect that have a physical address. Provide this address to SSA. Sign up for USPS informed delivery, once you see mail from SSA go pick it up.

I read all the comments fearing a denial given my young age. I prayed for a year or more that I would have my case seen by a judge who would offer compassion and understanding to my circumstances. I was surprised that when I dissociated in the first few minutes in front of the judge, even with my service dog with me tasking, I was so nervous and upset he was kind and offered if I wanted my support person to come into the hearing. He then explained he read my file and saw that I'd been through a criminal trial recently as a victim and not to worry, this was not nearly as formal. I was so unbelievably grateful he actually even read any my 1600 pg file as the judge in the criminal trial completely dismissed my Victim's Impact Statement & was devastated in our system walking into this hearing. Through all the tears I explained how I was completely okay until being assaulted a few years ago. My attorney really helped in asking questions to prompt where my daily struggles were and how it impacted my inability to work. The vocational expert suggested 3 positions that were very unrealistic for my circumstances. The judge seemed to acknowledge that and thus my attorney backed off at the end of the hearing & I was surprised that it was over and there was no rebuttal to the suggested jobs. As I got up to leave as I walked out the door the judge said "Take it Easy." It truly sounded sincere. I looked back at him and said "I truly wish I didn't have to, but thank you." This judge was an an answer to my prayers as I got word this week my case got a fully favorable decision. My next prayer is that in a few years, I continue to recover and someday can go back to work and then somehow thank this judge and tell him he was an answer to my prayers for God to provide when I needed it most.

Judge: Hortensia Haaversen : we are grateful for your decision on my wife case , However we are in some distress over the office of disability in Buffalo NY and the way my wife was treated by employee who has cause her case to be pushed back another 90 days from last week as the employee shut her case down because my wife could not answer his questions due to her TBI. but the real reason is with our legal representative and their lack of contact and also giving out bad advise according to the office at 186 Exchanged st ,Buffalo NY . We are looking to review the labor cost from their office and to verify the real amount that is due for payment.

Melissa Hammock is a very pleasant judge. She is very thorough and fair. I was very upset and full of anxiety at my hearing although I tried to hold it inside. She asked to the point questions in a very calming and polite manner. I know I left out quite a bit of stuff due to my racing thoughts. You could tell she read my records and was somewhat familiar with my case prior to the hearing. I did receive a fully favorable decision in a timely manner. I personally believe she is a fair and honest judge. I am so glad that I had the honor of presenting my case to her.

I can't in my right mind even call this guy a judge. It was obvious that he did not read all the facts of my disabilities. I had M.R.I.'s to prove my neck and back disc degeneration. Also my doctors form stating i have bipolar disorder and i take 300 mg of seroquel. This medicine causes me to have a zombie like effect when i am awake. It also causes me to sleep from 12 to 16 hours. How am i supposed to go to work when i can barly get out of bed. I also have had problems with arrhythmia and sleep apnea. I'm probably living on borrowed time but this judge did'nt give a crap. I used and attorney and was told they would'nt have taken my case if they could'nt win it. This judge should be fired because he abused his discretion and position.

He is very polite. I wish that he could render a decision from the bench. This long wait is very agonizing and throws me into a panic. This waiting period is not good for those who suffer from mental illness. We already have to work the nerve up to come I to court than to wait no that before a decision I no good. Please just try to work on making a decision from the bench(which is what is suppose to happen in the front place). Thanks for reading

He is a pleasant man and most of my clients find him comforting and personable. But, for his cases, if the doctor has not outlined limitations that put claimant below sedentary, then forget it! Explicit limitations or a Medical Source Statement outlining limitations must be on record. Or else, this judge is not approving this case. And if you have an awesome case, then expect him to apply a GRID for anyone having a recent birthday, resulting in less back pay. I rather take this than a denial altogether. I like this guy a lot but case needs to be SOLID or else he's not approving it.

The judge didn’t believe my testimony, I remember him saying something like which one is it as if I was lying I don’t know if I heard his question right or if I understood his question, this is one of the symptoms that I have. The counselors at Region Ten and the medical dr at Northridge, Dr John Azer at outpatient psychiatric twisted my words around and didn’t write their notes right about me. I saw another medical doctor there also that didn’t listen to me how I was feeling about my symptoms. I tried to find another place to go but with my insurance a lot of doctors don’t take it so it is limited. My nurse practitioner kept telling me to go back to Northridge and I did finally. The psychiatrist that I see now listen to me about my symptoms and cared enough to do different tests on me to get to the root about how I be feeling. If you say that you are suidical they will help you, if you say you are not they won’t help you and take you seriously. Everyone is different and symptoms are not the same as the next person, it is a shame that the doctors wait until you try to kill yourself then you can get help. You might look ok on the outside but inside you are not because depression and ptsd symptoms are visible. I was doomed from the get go to be denied by the Ali judge, Theodore P Kennedy. My nurse practitioner has helped me a lot, she kept telling me to try the medicine, she knew I was hurting and an emotional wreck and at my lowest. I was denied because the Alj judge didn’t believe my testimony and what the nurse practitioner said about how I would be affected at work. I don’t have any reasons to lie about how I feel everyday, this is not living, I mostly stay home to myself and just because the medicine helps some that I don’t need help. I guess you have to be suidical to get help, I don’t want to kill myself,I want the pain to stop.

I would agree that he is tough but fair. If he finds you not credible it’s over. He will try to trip you up to make sure you are consistent but that’s his job. Don’t try to lie to him. He does his casework and he knows more about you than you would think. Remember one thing- your attorney will never win your case for you. 90% of the questions asked are to you personally- not your lawyer. Your case needs to be very well documented. He already has all the information he needs -but he is fair and will give you the time you need to defend your case. He is totally by the book. There are no free rides with him.

I felt Judge Kim was compassionate and a good listener. He made me feel very comfortable and asked me questions that were related to my disability. I felt from the beginning to the end he would be fair. At one point I became a little nervous and lost my concentration and he was able to help me through it. I felt he was truly concerned about me as a person and my disability. I had no lawyer just me.

I felt Judge Kim did not take in all of what was stated by my surgeon. He never communicated with me not once. My health is only going to continue to get worse and he did not even read what my doctors have stated . so this in turn I am losing everything I have worked hard for . No compassion what so ever . Very disappointed and hurt . I will be homeless soon due to this .

I had a disability hearing with ALJ Kim, and he made me feel like I was wasting his time. Not only did he not read my records completely, in his decision he made it seem like I had been treated by witch doctors instead of certified physicians. He never listened to what I said during the hearing, even after he asked the questions. His attitude was exasperating, and very disappointing. He did not see me as an individual, and consider MY circumstances.

Terrible judge. Ignores evidence; twists statements, and is one of the most cynical individuals I have ever dealt with. Believes he knows more than doctors' do. I sincerely feet sorry for any disabled individual that has to go in front of him. Personally speaking, I don't think he's that intelligent and informed medically, despite what I am sure he believes of himself.

A fairly good judge. I have appeared in front of Judge Kopicki a number of times and I find him to be intelligent, sincere, and thorough, even in cases he turned down. If a case he turned down is remanded to him he has been fair about reconsidering his prior decision. He is neither liberal nor conservative in his decisions. On occasion he has prejudged a case and digs in his heels during the hearing, but usually he is open-minded. I have not seen him to be cyncial.

Judge Levey's hearings are informal and designed to create a comfortable and non-threatening environment for claimants and representatives. He is very well acquainted with the case records, and views critically claimant attempts at lying and distortion. Attorneys and reps should be well prepared to present their cases, as this judge generally expects them to conduct the bulk of the questioning. Judge Levey's decisions are generally well written and fair.

Although this judge runs the most informal courtroom I have ever practiced in, he quickly shows he has read the exhibits, demonstrates great respect for the claimants and their representatives, listens to what is being said with a spirit of genuine curiosity and compassion, and questions the claimants carefully when their testimony diverges from what is contained in the record. Representatives should be prepared to present their cases (judge asks them to begin the questioning, then supplements the questioning afterwards), should prepare the claimants to deal with difficult issues (illegal drug use, reported earnings after the claimed disability onset date, receipt of unemployment benefits, unfavorable treating physician opinions, etc.) and should counsel them to tell the truth. With regard to the latter point, my experience has been that this judge is far more favorably inclined to claimants who testify truthfully (even if doing so appears to weaken the case on the merits) than to claimants who paint a picture of wholly disabling functional limitations that is contradicted by evidence in the record (objective findings, activities of daily living, previous inconsistent statements, etc.).

I chose to present my case without a lawyer since I know more about my condition than anyone else and had read on this website that Judge Levey was fair. Judge Levey made me feel like my case was important. He explained the issues and the hearing process. He showed that he had read my file, and asked good questions that focused on my condition and helped me to present my case. He was sympathetic and respectful and funny and kind. And at the end of the hearing he told me that he would be awarding me the benefits that I had fought for for years. In the age of Donald Trump, Judge Levey is like a welcome breath of fresh air.

I will say that I was not impressed with how I was treated at my ALJ hearing for my SSDI. Being a medically retired veteran and 100% disabled rated by the VA. After going through a heart attack, several spinal procedures and injections for pain from injury sustained in Iraq while deployed for a year and over 20+yrs in the service. I felt he was more concerned that I was receiving my military retirement pay instead of focusing on what I was at the hearing for "My SSDI" that I have paid into and earned over the past 30yrs! As I had to keep saying, I was forced to retire from my full-time job and it's hard to deal with the pain. Over 700 pages of medical documentation from doctors/specialist and still denied! The hearing was a complete waste of time and I think this judge did not like the fact that I draw my earned retirement and applied for my SSDI!!!

FIrst time w/ALJ via VTC. His #s are very low, 30.5% of cases heard to decision. Seriously! He made atty ask all Qs and he gave a palpable feeling that he didn't want to be there that day, or hates his job, or hates his life in general. Claimant had a Fully Fav decision for SSI 9 years ago, but spouses earnings prevented benefits. Now in new case nothing has improved and claimant's has strong medical source stmt from treating neurologist who has treated claimant for 10+ yrs. We'll see??

This man is looking to deny your claim or to force you into giving up any entitlement to retroactive benefits. His determinations on credibility are inconsistent with the Rulings. His decisions are full of boilerplate but not a great deal of substance. State agency doctors are given more weight that your treating doctor. Read his decisions carefully as much that is in there doesn't hold up to scrutiny.

The Appeals Council must be getting sick and tired of reversing this judge's decisions. His analysis of the evidence on such things as a claimant's past work is seriously flawed. He seems to lack the basic ability to understand what constitutes a "severe impairment" (slight abnormality standard) and he consistently fails to consider impairments in combination. Instead, he deals with each alleged impairment as a separate and distinct issue. This is stuff that, twenty years ago, most ALJs understood and applied in their decisions, but this judge loves boilerplate which he puts in his decisions to disguise his lack of understanding of the facts.

If you are a woman and you get this judge for your hearing, reschedule it, it will be worth the wait. From what I have read online regarding his statistics, most of the cases he denies or dismisses are women applicants. Also, this judge was the ALJ for my hearing. It's been almost four months since my hearing and still no decision on my case...despite having 16 herniated discs in my spine as well as several other serious health issues. I even had letters and RFC forms filled out by my doctors detailing very specific reasons why I can no longer work full time to support myself. It seems that none of my medical evidence matters to this man, despite there being about 600 pages of solid medical proof that I am truly disabled.

I am really hoping he rules in my favor bc I don't want to have to go thru this process again or take it to the next level, but what ever his decision maybe I truely believe he will make his decision based on medical records and not on his personal opinion. He was a pleasure to have working my case. I don't recall much of what happen in there bc I am highly anxiety person and have memory problems but I do know I left feeling confident

Judge penn was pleasant during the hearing but I do not think her ruling was just particularly for my case, the condition I have will stay with me for the rest of my life so I don't understand how I could be considered disabled only for a year of my life even with all my medical evidence plus you could just look up crohn's disease you'll understand stand why I think my ruling was wrong

I had judge penn recently and she was pleaseant during the hearing but denied my claim a 1week after my hearing...a little too quick considering its supposed to take at least a month or two for decisions.. im definitely appealing...because there were significant impairments and evidence to support it ...but she denied it...we spend most of our lives just trying to get approved...and it puts us in stress mode because we are fighting for our life at this point...they dont understand that they dont walk in our shoes or live in our bodies....

Know it all! Makes decisions without all medical records...cocky ,doesn't care or listen. Just because he s a judge doesn't make him any more human than anyone else!! Some of us don't have the money to have a EASY government job...if we did no one would need social security!

Judge Staller seemed to be very fair. He seemed very intent on what I had to say which was appreciated by me. My hearing was on July 10, 2017 and I'm still waiting a decision. I haven't worked in over 3 years and frankly I'm in trouble if not approved as my money is just about depleted. I'm hoping and praying a positive decision comes soon. I know in my heart i need this and I told the truth about my condition. I trust he will make the right decision.

Scott staller looked at my evidence of being raped bashed and left dying and choking on my own blood. While waking to a geder idenity mesure which allowed my petpatrator to go free and left me with no justice. Before this I wad disabled at age 18 and later in life began trying to work because people called me lazy. I worked as a singer opping act for Waylyn Jennings and Jessica Colter in 1996...I workef as a sesfood and meat clerk at Meijer for 5 years before that a seafood and meat clerk at D&W Foods...I worked as a janitor for a twelve story building in Grand rapids mi...then I moved too Indiana and workef at Pizza hut for 4 years and tjen in jewelry at Walmart for 5 years. Then in 2006 is when I was rsped bashed and left for dead...I now have no cartilege in my nose this has been replaced with titatium metal....I have PTSd severe headachs that last for a month...Supperhigh blood presure anixty attaks..... It took me years and severl letters to President Obama...The federal didn't want me to have a court date....Hoever the Obama administration and the hall of justice sent me Judge Staller from Lousiana. I brought my evidence in and asked judge for disability ssi ssd suvivers and retiernment with full medical and 200.00 a month in food. Wonderful Judge Staller granted me all in 2009, fully favoible! However by 2010 the Social Security Administration sent me a letter which cut me down too $124.00 per month and paid my years bavk pay at $124.00...I callef the SSA which told me, "We don't care what the judge rulled for you Richard! This is welfare and this is all you're going to get!" So then in the comming month my father came down with prostate cancer lost his job at Notre dame. Dad and me had just bought a new house these hapoenings caused us to lose our home! So again I wrote the Obama administration and they sent me a list of lawyers...I picked kellum and she helped. I recieved $back pay at $124.00 a month which was $9,000...So I used this money after my dad recoverd from prostate surgery in dead of winter durring a blizzerd...to pay for my fathers bankduptsy and move us to kalamazoo, mi And today I am still being abused by the Socail security administration from Benton Harbor to Kalamazoo trying to cancel my bennifets to taking away my food on thanksgiving day all while my father has cancer again; a huge mass removed which was growing into a kidney he lost ...Socail Security Administrion has terrized me so bad that I have recently been dignosed with a bad heart. You see SSA is refussing to give me my survivers INS...while claiming I wasn't disabled at 18..... Sincerely Richard

He seems to pay close attention to the Claimant's testimony and will allow the claimant the opportunity to explain any inconsistencies in the record. He does not automatically defer to the CE

She was respectful during the hearing and only asked me a few questions briefly the whole time which leads me to believe their mind was made up before I ever got there(her and the vocational "expert". It was determined I could no longer do my old work and at the same time I am supposedly not disabled either because Mr. "Expert" says I can either be a kitchen helper now or a dining room attendant...both with 30% restrictions to bending and lifting and even going so far as to say there were thousands of local jobs doing these things. First of all no one will hire or keep you working with any restrictions and second I can't do them anyway and third...I live in a small town and there aren't thousands of jobs combined anywhere around me. I am very disappointed in the double standard used in the decision. Make up your mind. You say I can't stand or lift and do my old job but I can stand all day and lift in the job you say I should or could have. What a crock. If I could do my old job I could be making 1 to 2 thousand a week on very good weeks. I would have to be crazy to not do that... Maybe I am crazy for thinking I could get a fair shot after all the grief and ginancial upheaval I've been through with this.

The disability rules, law, I should of got my disability, but this judge denied me my disability. I am a very sick person, there is days I can barely walk, I honestly don't know if I am going to make it some days.. I have so much pain , so forgetful, the social security doctor said I was disable to work, because of my disease. She mention of me being obesity, and lack of education. It never stopped me working before. I have worked ever since I was 12 years old, worked hard for over 40 years. I have worked for everything I have, and now I am not able to work and about to lose everything I have ever worked for, because I am not able to work, and this Judge made this unfair and inhumane decision, on behalf I felt she is a prejudge Person. It is such a shame that a judge can make this kind of decision, because they don't like a person. What has our country become to. So sad that's it's become that such cases are treated like this. God be with us all.

She's a ****. I figured I was going before a judge so I'd better dress up a little. She held it against me in her ruling. She ignored all medical data. She'll be very nice while you're there, but knife you in the back on your way out. She told me I'd have her decision in sixty days. I waited six months. I wouldn't spit on this woman if she were on fire. Doctors? Medical evidence? What more did she want? Horrible experience.

This so called judge is not fit to determine anything. He is clearly working to deny as many cases as possible as evidenced by his 70% denial rate. He seemed to already have the case decided before I even said a word. He is not fair, very hard to understand, and should not be any kind of judge. All we ask for was a fair hearing and we got this guy. If you get him, try to request another Judge.

Ill say this he does go over all your paper work you turn in, but he knit picks it and turns it against you in any way possible. Not to mention i had a bad lawyer. They went over nothing to prepare me with judge, not that it would of mattered. Any ways if you get this judge your 85% screwed. Not sure that you can request another judge. I wish you luck..

I have all the respect in the world for Judge Wright amd feel he has always been fair and accurate with his decisions here in the Northeast. Mu uncle Judge Steven Fleck was also a ALJ for many years, starting out in Pittsburgh and then relocating to Los Angeles.

True New York Gentleman, great dedicated lawyer, true jurist, whose intention and drive is to do the right thing. Over the long haul, this Judge has demonstrated that he is dutibound, consistent, fair, realistic and intuitive. This is the quality ALJ that the SSA needs to seek and be sure to have appointed. He properly demands that the attorney have a command of the case facts and be ready to present the case effectively, efficiently and politely, and he deserves the respect of having his expectation met every time. If the case deserves to win, it will win, and if it doesn't immediately appear to be a "winner," he's willing to listen to the presentation and be impressed by evidence. And if the case isn't proven, he'll do the right thing there, and deny.
