This guy is male chauvinist, bigot. I had ample evidence of disability. I had to wait 4 years for a hearing only to end up with him presiding over my case. I was 23 years old and was already battling severe Crohn's disease for 12 years. I had 2 bowel resections, multiple perianal abscess surgeries , plus a temporary ileostomy and take-down surgery. I was a human guinea pig for Crohn's medications like remicade (before it was placed on the market) 6 mp, steroids and many others that I failed. I stated that I had at least 20 bowel movements a day, nausea and vomiting. I was extremely underweight and malnourished. Malabsorption is symptom of Crohn's. This guy whom I refuse to refer to as a man, treated me with such disrespect,unprofessionalism, and disgust. It was also well known to the lawyers who had prior cases with him that he loathes women. This was brought to my attention by my lawyer who when asked what judge I had said to me " Oh, you have Berk...He hates women!" I thought that couldn't possibly be true because you have to be objective to be a judge. Was I ever wrong! This individual was awful to me and my denial letter was ten times worse! I had at least 4 pages of him calling me a liar and accusing me of exaggerating. One of the the things said in the letter for example was that I exaggerated having 20 bowel movements a day. I thought to myself " dear God, did I lie?" So I decided to make a tally one day of my BM's because if I dramatized it I wanted to know so I would have a reason to be ashamed of myself and correct it. For one full day my tally marks did not add up to 20. So yes I did lie. My tally reached 42! I actually underplayed it. It took 2 more years to appeal my SSI case and get another hearing. All the while going through hell with my declining health. I had no work experience and never had a job, which I was also frowned upon for. Mind you I had been fighting Crohn's disease since the age if 11. I wasn't just looking for a handout, being lazy, or faking an illness because I didn't want to work. I was in and out of hospitals then and until this day I still am. That's a whole other story though . Yes this is an extremely lengthy comment and probably doesn't matter since he doesn't seem to work here anymore but I know that I most certainly am not the only person this particular judge affected is such a negative, unnecessary, and irrational way. I would Love to hear other's stories as well.

After a long two year wait Ive finally had my opportunity to see judge Blum and after reading reviews I was so nervous. Im young with a ton of health issues so nobody can tell me exactly how much I go through. I had a VERY good 12yr job that I quit because I couldnt handle it and Im in the hospital atleast 7 or 8 times a year. Nonetheless Judge Blum sent me to see "disability doctor" so now Im J&J st awaiting a decision. Im so stressed about all of this
My son had an appointment this morning with his psychiatries. After so many times that was re-escheduled he was able to go today. Judge Callahan listened to my son's case on July 22 but I don't think he recognizes the tragedy families go through when one of their children can do certains things, like counting with their ability to go places or at least get out of their room. Their unpredictablity can only be tolerated at home. My son tried to work once but, his mental illness is unpredictable. Sometime he is up to the point of being euphoric but sometimes he can't get out of his room. Judge Callahan may never have to stay home from a vacation because their son can't be left alone. We miss birthdays, or holliday gatherings. We can only visit our daughter when our son is able. We have noticed however, that children get attracted to him when he last went to our grandson's bday party, and he had a good time. But those are few and far in between. May the Almighty God help Judge Callahan when he reviews my son's case and may he get the information he needs from experts who want to do good no matter their political affiliations. Can't rate him yet. Can't read his heart, only God can.
Judge Callahan needs to get a home somewhere nice and retire. It's time to just realize that times have changed and understanding today's skill sets is just not part of his abilities.

Judge CALLAHAN this injustice is over one year from April 19, 2017 and provided me two blank TAPES of my hearing on 37,646 2005-2011 that we know I never received but followed your instrucrions. I have not gotten a check since 2005. My local ROSEVILLE office MS. Jordan said I would be paid in 60 days without an award letter they have confirmed three open CASES. OFFICE of General counsel region 5 Steve Frank CALLED me in 60 days apologize like you and staff has done and said you will be paid in more like 90 days. Then the Chicago payment center said my case was in the module unit with CLAIM rep t. King. I SPOKE TO HER she said she were counting up the years to pay me. My local office sent me a letter asking me come in Dec 27, 2017 to see mr. Mixum asking me to bring your PAYEE but when I arrive he brought up a false DEBT THAT been waived twice. Where is my Award LETTER?

Judge chrisensen was such a nice, caring man. He truly cared about what I was going through. He was kind and patient. The VE (I can't remeber her name) was also very sweet. I am so thankful I was assigned these two people.

Judge Dodson is not a fair judge and he covered-up corruption of Field Office workers and the Payment Center who falsely accused an ex-con of receiving money while in prison. The ex-con was not at fault for the $34,000 overpayment because his master benefits record said his benefits were suspended during the incarceration period. Although Mr. Dodson had the ex-con's file before him, he chose to overlook the master benefits record, and deliberately found the ex-con "at fault" for creating a $34,000 overpayment.
I am grateful Judge Dodson took so much time with me and my case, he really listened to all I had to say, certainly understood my individual situation and clearly has a huge and beautiful heart! I hope when my hearing comes that my situation is understood, I been sick with ulcerative colitis for 16 years I lost a lot of jobs,because of the pain,my weight has been up and down far as weight lost and gain.That illness far as living with the chronic pain led to me becoming bi polar depression then anxiety then schizophrenia. I feel like my lively hood was tooken away from at a young age I lost so much of my life being sick and I hope when my hearing comes up you understand me thanks.

Judge Elias used many partial statements so it would appear to mean the opposite of what the actual full event was so it could be used against me. If the entire statement was used in context, it would have been in my favor. She did this several times throughout the decision process. She said I had therapy that I did not. Medical records verify that. Even omitted statements from the vocational expert that were in my favor. Obviously my case was denied because of her false statements and half assed statements. Why have a vocational expert if you're going to ignore him. He said there was no jobs for me given my conditions when my lawyer asked. She must of had a hearing problem during that moment.
Just received my unfavorable decision from Judge Elias. Her decision process was erratic and biased without any consideration for the actual medical diagnosis. She used the opinions of doctors who have no actual medical experiance in the field of medicine needed to make a proper diagnosis. She used 2 medical opinions from two M.D.s who never actualy met me or knew any thing about me other than my name. She stated in her opinion that the medical evidence provided by 2 specialist in the field of medicine specifically related to my disease were " we will not defer or give any specific evidentiary weight to any prior adminstrative medical findings or medical opinions from your medical sources." She then claims that the 2 doctors with zero expertise, one an opthamologis or an eye docter and two, a G.P who was reprimanded by the Arizona medical board for Failing to recognise a Tachycardia event in a patient. Or laymens term a heart attack. So the expert medical opinions of 2 doctors with Zero eperience in making medical decisions on disease or disabilities they have no experiance in, out weighs the medical experiance of doctors who have dedicate there lives to specializing in.. These specialists i had to see to get the medical tests from, were requested by ssa to substantiate my medical condition in order to file my claim for disability. Her decision to ignore actual evidence and make an opinion using failed logic is disturbing. If a judge used this same logic path in a criminal trial the legal system would protect the accused. But it seems in a hearing for disability there is no form of protection or law that states all evidence provided must be used and that any expert testimony must come from an actual doctor who specializes in the field of medicine required to make an actual diagnosis. As it is today ill be requesting an appeal through my attourney as well as contacting my state representative to investigate Judge Elias and her opinions over the last few years to determine weather there is any bias or discriminatory practices . I followed the leter of the law in starting the disability claim, i followed the requested visitations and appointments with the specialists required by the SSA to show medical evidence of my disability , and when the medical evidence showed the diagnosis for the disease stated in the claim for disability She chose it ignore it and discard it an myself without any thought to my situation.

Hope i get her and she approves me i have been fighting since 2011. and have lost just about everything including my mind. my case was remanded on 4/1/14 from federal court. back to the appeals council for them to send it back to the detroit office for another hearing... i am so tired and stressed.

If anyone has had this judge, what is he like?
I'm doing this review as I wait for my decision. I met Judge David Mason Jr while waiting for my hearing with my attorney, he walked into our waiting room and informed us that he was running about 10 minutes behind. He had a nice smile and was in great shape. It was nice of him to come out and tell us himself. My 1st memories of my knee defect was at age 9, my 1st surgery at age 12, my next surgery was at age 41. I have been diagnosed with a R Knee Osteochondral Defect, Osteoarthritis, R hip and severe back thigh pain. It is a disease that as you age the knee becomes bone on bone and that's where I'm at, in severe pain when I walk and pain in my back thigh butt area when I sit. The only surgery I was told is a osteochondral allograph transplantation to fill in the large defect, which involves receiving part of a femur from a cadaver, but due to my age it is not recommended and because I'm 45 yrs old I should wait until I'm closer to 50 and hopefully technology will have advanced. I have went to PT around every other week for about 20 months and now I'm able to do the exercises at home and my husband helps with the hands on . I see my medical doctor every 3 months for the last few years and he filled out the forms that SSD requested and from his answers I'm unable to work. I've paid into social security since 1986. I worked very hard for many years to make sure the mortgage was paid and raising my 1 and only child who has became much more then a mother could ever dream of. I'm being treated for anxiety and severe depression along with possible bi polar, I started therapy with a psychiatrist in 2009 and as the years went on, I've tried many different medications. I go to my psychiatrist every 2 months for my medication and have documentation of this, which I'm embarrassed about. After almost 13 years of my FT job I was terminated in 2012 after a return to work of only 7 weeks from my knee surgery, I was having a hard time getting around and it was noticeable, so they found a reason and let me go. That's how I feel about it. In April of 2015 I started to feel suicidal and was put on more medication which has made it even harder to get around, stay awake and concentrate. My Psychiatrist filled out the forms for Social Security stating all of this and from his answers I'm unable to work. When the hearing started the Judge was TOUGH, HARD, and seemed mean, I cried so hard due to the memories of my Mother's death and then the memories of trying to take care of my Father and trying to get him out of his severe depression, plus working, while in severe pain myself all of those years and the realization that here I was in court asking, pleading for disability, I almost got sick. The memories of finding my Father's lifeless body due to suicide in the same spot my Mother died in their home 5 years previous due to cancer was horrific but the ALJ judge showed no remorse for any of my memories or disabilities. He was TOUGH! The ONLY reason I'm giving him 5 stars is due to the FACT that this Judge is For The People of this Country and to know that he treats people like this is a hard thing to swallow but good to know that the system isn't weak, this man-Judge is TOUGH... I just hope he looks at all my documentation and even though I have a ton of medical records, X-rays, MRI's, and regular treatments, exams, and proof from treating doctors this Judge STILL had me go to a Mental and Medical Exam after the hearing. Now I just have to wait for his decision.
I went before Judge David Mason Jr on May 27th 2016. As I stated in my last review my Attorney and I had all of the documents including X-Rays, Mri's, doctors notes, ALL the forms that SSD requested from my doctors and after the hearing the Judge sent me for a mental and medical exam paid for by Social Security. My attorney told me that the medical exam from Social Security looked like the doctor agreed with my doctor and that I couldn't work. The SSD mental exam was done by psychologist, it took maybe 25 to 30 minutes. The mental exam wasn't as strong as the psychiatrist's whom I've been seeing every 2 months for the last 7 yrs. My Attorney told me that Judge Mason Jr received everything on his desk around Aug 17th 2016. In my last review I had wrote that the judge had no remorse. From his statements about my Dad's suicide, to how many FB friends I have ( which I took a guess, I was so scared) to how much money I had received and how much I gave my son out of my inheritance. My Attorney had said he had never witnessed a Judge act like that and that I'm able to have as much money as I want. I was told at least 10 days ago that the Judge has requested a Supplemental Hearing and that the Judge hadn't stated why. I was told that he has to give a reason why and until he does we just have to wait and then be set up for another Hearing. So we have to wait even longer. I had a breakdown in front of this Judge, it was horrible. I'm so confused as to why we have to have another hearing and why the Judge isn't putting in a request as to why and getting the Date set. My stomach is a mess, I can't sleep and my psychiatrist has made one of my meds stronger and my mind is swirling. I'm worried that I might puke in the courtroom, this Judge scared me. I hope this Judge will make a decision soon. I started working making around $400 to $500 a month, I have pain so i'm unable to work, I'm not sure how long I can go. I don't want to spend the money that my Father left me but I'm slowly using it up. I'm so scared to go before this Judge again ALL of this. I've worked since the age of 16, I'm 46 now and I've always judged people who I found out receive SSI. I'm eligible for SSD and it's been a nightmare trying to get approved. I found Patricia McKay to be a very fair and thoughtful judge. Her questions to me at my appeal hearing were made in a manner that made me feel comfortable and at ease. I have nothing but good things to say about her and how she handled her court room.
Making 170K per year, Plus!! Her LYING and unprofessional, immoral ass needs to be impeached ASAP! This entire corrupt and crooked ass system is in need of a complete overhaul. I am half-black/white, LGBTQ & a 27 year old male. She approved my claim. Took about 3-4 weeks for the decision. My issues, BiPolar 1 & Degenerative Disc Disease in my neck.
McKay is the worst. I’ve got several fractured discs in my spine, have depression and suicidal, along with having anxiety problems. Had doctors and medications backing me up, and I was denied. I haven’t worked in almost 4 years, I can’t, but I guess judge McKay thinks living outdoors with no income is a proper decision.
I just received a decision from Judge Mckay. She denied me after a remand because of a major error. I read the opinion. She perpetrated fraud by purposely improperly applying controlling authorities. She also said my therapist did not qualify as an expert, wrong. I had a witness with me at my hearing. She denied me the right to have my witness present testimony. She misrepresented my testimony! The vocational rehab opinion should never have been in the opinion. I impeached him, and he admitted there was no job I could do. He even stated he was not qualified! She got Doctors mixed up, and gave no weight to their testimony or my lay witness testitomy. By SSI standards, I should be approved. I am lucky I have a law background!
If I could give this judge zero stars I would. My video hearing was a joke! I really thought she listened to what I and my doctors stated. I have 4 different severe impairments but she denied me! I am 49 years old and my condition will just gradually get worse. The VE said no jobs and she kept badgering him to find something. My medications alone would keep me from working. What a joke! I work 33+ years and the statue has ran out so I couldn’t even reapply at this stage. Sickening!
Her conduct as a judge is beyond appalling and needs to be exposed. I have written several members of Congress, filed a complaint with the division of quality service and filed a complaint with the attorney grievance commission. Her actions are beyond shameful and I suggest anyone who has been victimized by her actions contact your elected officials immediately.

The few questions that she asked me was not pertaining to my health issues that limit me from working. She ask why I had not considered back surgery...."really?" I too being a nurse, that can make a decent income & survive, why would I not want to work? I've even tried to work a job making 3 times less than what i could normally make. I think her decision was actually made before I even went before her. My Attorney is well known, but did not intervene on any statement she made, also as if he was intimindated by her. Everything routine with these cases. It's so unfair. I had commented earlier about Ms. Paige and my comments were accidently deleted. Here is everything. SS needs to check backgrounds of judges like Melody Paige. She has been accused of racial bias, not following law, ignoring medical evidence, manufacturing medical evidence etc…. In my case she used knowledge of my other condition to deny my claim although that was not part of my claim. She wrote her opinion using things not presented into evidence. The fact that I am a black Jew was brought up at trial. I saw the sneer on her face. What does my being Jewish have to do with the trial? She insulted my black husband who had nothing to do with the case. He was there only to support me, his wife. He was sitting quietly in the last row in her courtroom and she went out of her way to address him and insult him, I was in shock. She wrote things in her opinion that my doctors never said and were not verified. I had reached an out of court settlement with GM. Melody Paige destroyed it. Before Ms. Paige came to SS she was a Workers Comp judge for almost two decades and seemed to do as she pleased. SS awarded me benefits on the same claim Melody twisted. Little of the original claim made it in her opinion and what did, she completely twisted. I have proof of her lies. I have copies of everything the court has. I have written a book. Inside my book, I’m going to put in the original documents presented to the court and then place Ms. Paige’s written opinions next to them. She allegedly contracted a serious disease herself. I know my case was postponed because of her getting sick from something. I hope the medicine she has taken has not affected her brain while rendering decisions. Sorry she has a disease but she is affecting other people’s lives. Shortly after she arrived at SS someone tried to get my case reviewed and possibly take away my benefits. I believe she had something to do with it. She seemed to have a need to hurt me. I feel for any minority that gets her as their judge. Thank goodness she is not the final judge. Ms. Paige gave me a lot of stress and I can prove she’s a liar.
She treats you like you're a criminal or bad person and denies you even when the appeals council remands your case back to her b/c they feel her denying you was wrong and that you should've been approved. She gets mad and acts like YOU did something to her personally.
I had Judge M.Paige and quite honestly I find that she was an amazing Judge very understanding to my situation,very nice and soft spoken.With her previous nursing experience she understood what I was going through. I suffer from Trigeminal and Occipital Neurolgia along with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Fibromyalgia just to name a few. She listen to me and was companionate with me. I can't be more greatful.. This judge is ****** and like all the other white judges not very helpful denies more then he approves especially towards black people doesn’t matter if you have evidence him and his white colleagues will get together making up reasons and lies on why you were denied .
Hearing was last week, been waiting 2 years on appeal, so I've read these reviews for quite some time. Judge Scallen seemed very friendly/ fair not intimidating at all. Whole hearing took less than 30 mins and I have multiple issues keeping me from working. Being crushed on the job by a 2000lb rack in 07. The reviews that say hes racist are not founded as I'm of color an did not feel in the least that he would base his decisions off of color, Now if you came in unprepared w/o medical records to back up all your claims I could he tell he's seen and heard all the stories before.
