This ALJ is new to this ODAR. He is a very nice person. Fair and thorough in his questions. Treats both claimants and attorneys with respect, courtesy, and kindness.

Wonderful judge!!! Always super courteous to both CLTs and attorneys. He also handles Stockton hearings. He is very new to the SSA bench. Not at all jaded or cynical, like so many other SSA ALJs in CA who, in my opinion, have clearly lost their ability to be objective or fair and should have been forced to retire years ago.

Judge Beers scoffed, then scolded my lawyer during my hearing for reading from a law book to ensure that a technicality we wanted to point out was recognized. It made me feel like she had a personal vendetta against him prior to my case. I had a sick feeling in my gut after that & I knew I'd be denied. Just as I suspected- Denied! I'm literally unable to use my shoulders to move or raise my arms, my hands lock up into fists, & I can barely walk from the Lupus & Fibromyalgia that's wrecking my body. But now I have to find a way to work- SOMEWHERE. I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm terrified & want to kill myself sometimes because I see no real solutions for me. She has ruined my faith in the system.

It is so terrible when you truly really need help from disability and have to fight like hell to get it and then still get denied. Your health gets worse because you don't have health insurance, and depression starts in. Judge H Beers was nice to my face, but came back with a quick judgement. She was wrong on a few things when it came to information from my doctors and my MRI. Maybe she should look into things better than being so judgemental. This is one of the reasons why this world is falling apart. It's because where people should care, they don't. I can't even give her a rating because it would be a lie.

SHE IS POSSIBLY THE WORST JUDGE OUT THERE. SHE IS MORE CONCERNED WITH HER FAKE EYELASHES THAN THE CLAIMANTS.

This judge failed to review all the information for my mothers case and basically implied that my mother and her doctor were lying about all her ailments.. She has degentive bonesdisc disease and as a result she can not work.. He asked her how long she was able to sit for, my mother said "around 10 mins" his reasoning was since she can sit at the hearing for 40 mins that she can work.... Which is dumb because either way no one can get a job that allows them to support themselves by sitting for 40 mins at a desk.. He disregarded what the V.E and what her doctors said and believed the bull his doctor said.. The V.E told him that there was NO job she could get but he paid no attention to that FACT.. I strongly dislike this judge and hope he loses his job due to being disabled and gets denied disability.

I have been unable to work since 2014. My attorney advised me that I had about 30 min to formulate my thoughts, put into words a clear and concise answers that adequately reflected the pain, suffering, struggles and my over all inability to work…. It was a profoundly surreal to stand before the judge and try to focus on answering his questions. It got to me, I broke down crying about halfway through. I almost couldn’t stop. Judge Blume, paused and said "take your time", it's alright" He looked at me with genuine empathy, kindness and compassion. I found the judge to be very prepared, through and thoughtful. He asked pointed questions, asked for clarification if he did not understand my answer or when i rambled. I am relieved that it's finally over. Now the wait begins. I have no idea how he will rule. That said, my prayers and thoughts go out the judge, my attorney and everyone else that has to walk this road. Sincerely Jtr

Judge Phillip E Callis was a understanding judge that gets down to the details of your disability. He gives you the opportunity to get your point across in explaining your reasons why you can't work. If you get the judge you are in the right enviroment of getting what you deserve.

Decent ALJ. He does all the questioning. He tends to ask many questions as well. Therefore, his hearings last between 45 minutes to 1 hour. He does a good job of reviewing the submitted medical records. As always, it is in your best interest to have solid treating doctors' opinions and objective testing.

Our experience has been consistent with the other comments here. He does a thorough job explaining to the claimant just what's going to happen in the hearing and why he's asking the questions he does. He's a very fair judge and knows what he's doing.

E. Hernandez omits power, without abusing it. "Her performance in official capacity, "Brings Honor to title Judge".

1 of the top 2 judges in the Oakland ODAR. If you lose with her, then you have no case, essentially. She will ask reps to expand on any arguments they make with specific references to law, regs, rulings, or the evidence, before she considers them. Judge Hill-Maxion will give you a lot of leeway to develop cases post-hearing, to clarify negative issues, and if an ME says a listing, she'll end the hearing very quick to grant.

In 2007, my ME did not have time to read my medical records, did not believe a word I had said, and stopped my W.Comp from that day forward. In 2010, one day prior to my hearing with Judge Sanya Hill Maxion, I knelt for the 2nd time ever in my life at home, and prayed to God and Jesus above, to please let my SSDI judge be a human being, be kind, caring, and loving, and be someone who would give me the judgment that HE would give to me. Whatever it would be, I would accept it. I knew in my heart that HE knew that I was truly injured and could not continue to work. The moment I entered the hearing room and saw Judge Sanya Hill Maxion, I saw the love on her face. If God was a woman, she was Him. And my Allsup representative was my guardian angel. When I go home, I cried and cried with gratefulness. I used to know OF God, but now KNOW Him. He IS love. Thank you God, and thank you, Judge Sanya Hill Maxion, and my Allsup guardian angel!

A very nice, compassionate judge. Goes out of her way to make claimants and attorneys welcome and comfortable with the process. Very fair and thorough questioning. If the evidence is not there, you will probably not prevail, but I can tell by her demeanor that everyone who appears before her is treated with kindness and respect.

I think this judge is very inconsiderate person in making decisions he is not a good judge it took him 8 months to write up a decision he did not know my pain and what I go through everyday of my life I loved my job challenging but very rewarding I went back to work and tried I didn't give up but I couldn't do it anymore but he didn't see that as I cried and explain to him the pain that I'm in I'm a very honest person I have no reason to be dishonest I love my job and I rather be working than applying for Social Security disability but my disability prevents me from that . Thank you

This judge cherry-picked through evidence, seems to have made up his mind before I opened my mouth; or as my lawyer put it, "SOMEONE didn't have their coffee this morning..". My lawyer and my therapist were shocked when he issued his denial, as I even had an SSA contracted psych eval along with heaps of notes from multiple doctors and clinic detailing a marked prognosis. Appealing to him felt like pleading to a brick wall for mercy and understanding. It's all rigged, and now there's no way for me to pay back all the general assistance issued by the county. I'm a month away from homelessness and my storage unit is about to be auctioned off. If you're under 40, get used to the idea of working until you die.

One of the worst judges in the Oakland ODAR, which means he's still better than most judges nationwide. His personality is typically grumpy and he'll push new reps before him very hard. If he notices a mistake, he'll slam you for it. If he makes a mistake, he backs off very quickly with a little push. He will often treat claimants very skeptically and trip them up or be outright mean. That said, he's not a dumb judge -- more like an evil genius -- and can see merit in a case if there's treating support, good records, as well as credible explanations. After you've been before him a few times he apparently will start to warm up to you, but I haven't seen that yet.

Just had my hearing with her after waiting a long while. She's very professional, nice & respectful. Had my representative do a lot of the questioning. Always be honest! She's a good listener & has decided to keep my case open for another 2 weeks to get some more medical records submitted to her. She seems to be understanding & even wished me good luck! Hoping & praying for a favorable decision! Whether she approves me or not, thank you to her for being my judge & taking the time to hear my case about how my conditions have impacted my life & ability to work.

Unprofessional and rude. Wears crocs and tacky clothes to hearings. She hates the sight of any woman who looks better than her. She has the nerve to criticize people's weight when they are barely overweight. She could lose some weight herself. She really needs to go... She has an ugly personality but it's not surprising, she presents herself like a stereotypical pathetic looking government employee.

This ALJ used to be a dealer -- for an amended onset you could likely get a win. Now she's becoming quite conservative, denying lots of cases and obfuscating her decisions, even for cases she would have granted a year ago!

I just posted 5 stars for Judge Parnow, let me add ,I had two hearings ( the second a supplemental) and I am waiting for her decision. And I still give her a good rating.. why..because she gave me a good caring vibe.. My only HOPE of change is a answer " if yes" to hear it in court.. then waiting for the letter of confirmation wont be so hard and stressful.. good luck all.

Why does the web sites show mixed comments? If a person doesn't click on site, a person can get the wrong impression of that judge.not right to mix a positive comment with a negative comment. Thats for all judges. Unfair and tricky.

I am outraged at how low life criminals with prison and drug records who fake schizophrenia to get a free check that goes to the dope man on the first of every month. Check out 17th Street and Imperial Avenue near St Vincent De Paul-Father Joe Villages. When honest people have paid into the system and honestly need help they are continuously denied. I often wonder about people in high positions.

I found her to be kind, respectful, thorough, and fair. She was genuinely interested in me and my daily struggles. She listened closely, asked clear questions and even kept me past the allotted time to hear my answers. I was very pleased with the process, with her and my outcome.

Although i was very unimpressed with the lack of care my physicians paid to my records i felt as if Judge Schum listened with courtesy and respect to what i had to say about my conditions. I am unsure how the verdict will turn but i can say while in his chambers his honor treated me with dignity and respect.

In his report for the hearing he basicly called me a liar, which I am NOT!, He ignored every single piece of medical evidence, EXCEPT, the report written up by the doctor social security appointed, which also was a very biased report. Through-out the report he kept refering back to the report done by SSA doctor, as consistant with the other medical evidence, when this doctors report was completly opposite of what ALL THE OTHER EVIDENCE showed!..Completly unfair judge

I recently had Timothy G. Stueve as my ALJ. I was denied because he based his denial off of untrue facts. I had solid evidence that i'm disabled and he made several mistakes in his decision. He based his decision off of facts for example, "I able to make my own decisions", "I'm able to drive" and "I get along with my girlfriend and co-workers". First of all, a physically and mentally disabled person that suffers from serious disabilities are able to drive, make some decisions, and get along with a few people. And my question is, how does he know how I get along with my girlfriend? And get along with co-workers? The problem with this is I haven't worked since February 07. The occupational person that set in on the hearing could only come up with 3 jobs I could possibly do. And with common since my disabilities would keep from doing these jobs. The facts he used were false and now I have to appeal his decision and wait a year or better for the results. I haven't been able to work for 5 1/2 years now because of my injuries. And now because of Timothys denial, I have to wait another year? I have not had a income since June 09. Very sad we have ALJ's that make bad decisions.

To ad to my earlier comment, his decision was based also that I can prepare meals. FYI- I don't prepare meals. I only make a sandwich, or put something in the microwave. I don't know how to cook. A disabled person should'nt be able to make a sandwich? Get real!! These facts that were used are unexceptable. In my opinion, he was finding reasons that are unexceptable to deny my claim. Is this all you could come up with for reasons to deny someone? If so, it's really sad that we put our lifestyles in the hands of people like this. In my opinion, he should contact me, overturn his decision and make it right. Will he? A REAL ALJ would.

During my hearing, I was advised of three positions that i could possibly do. Two of them were denied. Then the third position as well was denied. When I received my denial letter. The third position that was denied was changed to something that was never even discussed at my hearing. Therefore, I believe my hearing should be re-evaluated by someone else. How can this judge just change whatever, to whatever he wants it to say?

Judge Underwood has a higher percentage of approving claimants to obtain their SSDI compared to the percentages of the cases dismissed and cases denied. She also hears one's cases fairly and takes into consideration their quality of life. Having her is great luck especially given the consideration of how tough to obtain SSDI benefits are these days.

Judge Debra M.Underwood gives a fair chance to the claimant to their case about their medical conditions and how it affects their ability to become an reliable and dependable employee. One must provide her with the right paperworks such as medical records from the claimant's list of doctors to prove it to her during the hearing. Her approval rating speaks for her.

Hands down the best ALJ in oakland. If you get him, consider yourself very very lucky.

In my experience he is open, considerate, and fair minded. I too felt lucky to have him hear my case. He stayed on topic, and considered all of the evidence I presented. I felt he did exactly what an ODAR ALJ is supposed to do -- make sure that the rules and laws are properly applied.

I was shocked by the treatment I received from this judge. I am a case manager and was representing my client who is deaf and intellectually disabled. My client did not understand the importance of being present and did not show up. However my agency is his representative payee for his Social Security benefits and I had all documentation to prove it. Judge Williams stormed in the living room and yelled at me saying that my client better show up or the case will be dismissed. I approached him identifying myself and he scram that he did not want to hear me. I am familiar with many courts and have been representing my disabled clients for over 5 years and have never been treated with such disregard by anyone else. I was shocked and so was everyone else in the waiting room including the security guard. It is sad that someone with no social skills has such a high position in a federal agency such as the Social Security Administration. he dismissed the csse and my client will soon be homeless.

Open and considerate as said above. Moves kind of slowly. Sometimes I think he does not get more complicated issues- you have to explain them to him. But he is very compassionate.

I had my case heard today before judge Zeidman, I felt that he was very fair and listened to my case. He seemed very compassionate and treated me with respect. He also thanked me for my military service to the country in which I really appreciated. I don't know what decision he will make, but whatever that decision is, I will accept and know that this judge was completely fair.
