Andeer seems to have a good professional relationship with his assistant and the VE. I just had my hearing and my attorney said it can go either way. I now wait impatiently and pray for a positive outcome in a timely manner. All in all, it was uncomfortable, as anticipated, but not unpleasant.
How long did it take before you hear back from the hearing office? Were you approved? Thanks.
He is new to Santa Barbara and scratched his head about paper's saying I'm stage 4 which means 85% of the time of anything I can't do. I don't get why that's a head scratcher. He is a nice man. Seems arrogant and you will have to wait 90 to 120 day's before you get a decision. All evidence says NO. But expect a NO. New and doesn't seem to get medical records at all. Still waiting and hope he makes the right decision but you know SSI judges. They go off statistics for the fiscal year and have to keep a average or don't give a **** at all. Also political bias and age discriminate happens in SSI. THAT'S NOT THIS JUDGE'S PROBLEM that I know of. Just new, make you wait forever and is nice in the court room. Can also be funny. But doesn't seem to get anything. He asked the man can he work the 3 bad job's SSI said I can and they had to say NO. 20 doctor's say NO. Stage 4 on everything. Kinda a EASY decision but have to see. SSI will never care about the disabled or there problems period.
He has no grasp on reality. He cares more about a lawyer's foot than you. Over 20 doctors and 6 year's and he still says no. He is politically bias and discriminates. He shouldn't even be on the bench. He doesn't look at any evidence. He will lpoker back at pass cases all doctors saying I can't work and scratched his stupid head and just says uh wow all three are stage 4 which means no work possible but somehow goes to the last case and goes off that. Not anything new. We all know these judge's are corrupt. Dope heads get it with ease. A guy said he heard voices and got it. Guess the only way to win is huff air, do drugs and say you hear voices. 20 doctors and a NO. It's because of my age and sex.Only and his ****** STATS HE HAS TO KEEP ON CHECK FOR THE FISCAL YEAR. See them on the site. It's pathetic and he does Hawaii as well as Santa Barbara. That should make him not a judge right there. He's just as bad as Mary and Roger but acts nice. I posted the 3 star on him but I guess I was wroung. All just a show. He puts no effort in any thing. Sad and it ruins people's life's and maybe he gets off on that playing GOD with people's lives
This judge is a tool. Rude. Condescending. Horrible. Didn’t help my advocate was his twin lost at birth. I have 2 brain tumors, severe anxiety & depression, and this “judge” denied my claim because I was “calm and collected” in his courtroom. No lies! I was diagnosed in 2012 and this is a chronic disease I’ll die from. I’m now filing bankruptcy and have nerve damage now in my feet. THIS TOOL SAID I COULD BE A GROCERY STORE BAGGER.

The worst ALJ ever! If you are collecting unemployment, you might as well withdraw. She is not nice to client, rep, hearing recorder or any experts. She deffenetly uses her power in an abusive way.

She is rude, disrespectful and snotty to everyone. Not even close to being fair. Doesn't know what she is doing. Puts you through the ringer and then kicks you some more. Ridiculous is the best adjective to describe it.

For the person who commented, "If you are collecting unemployment, you might as well withdraw" actually is correct because when you apply for unemployment you are stating you can work but have no job and you are actively looking for one so, if you are collecting it and filing for disability, there is some fraudulent behavior going on. You can either work or you're disable. Be grateful the judge doesn’t cite you for lying in court.

To "An Observer of Comments": Your comments are very ill-informed. First, SSR 13-1p states, "[p]ossible examples of allegations that the Appeals Council will refer to the Division of Quality Service include, 'the ALJ is biased against claimants who receive workers compensation benefits or unemployment benefits' . . . ." Second, when an individual applies for unemployment benefits he/she is not saying that they are "ready, willing, and able" to perform work eight-hours a day, five-days per week -- the standard used by the SSA.

I am a disabled veteran rated at 100% PTSD, Panic Disorder, and major depression, and other things. Veteran's affairs added Individual Unemployability and Permanent & Total which means I am unable to work and that my condition is permanent and not going to get better. Had hearing this week. I hope all goes well. If I'm denied, I will be in shock, but I will take it to next level and appeal. I will post again when I receive my decision from her. I've worked hard hard all my life and fought for my country and I suffer everyday from war trauma. I felt uncomfortable in court and had extreme anxiety and depression the rest of the day from that experience.

Judge Barbeito presided over my case (remand)and I am thankful that she did. She was straight-forward and respectful allowing me, in company with my attorney, to address each issue fully. Finally, I knew my case had been heard.

I'm a lawyer who has attended thousands of hearings. This ALJ is the most disgusting excuse for a judge, let alone lawyer, I've ever met. I pray she will be removed from the bench.
I had to have 3 hearings. She was very thorough but fair. It took me 4 years but I got fully favorable.
Great Judge. 100% fair in my complex case. She made it possible for me to have surgery. I was in a really bad situation. She set up a re-evaluation date and provided enough time for surgical recovery. Oh yea.. I almost forgot. I am a Workers Comp claimant. Thank you Judge Betty Roberts Barbeito. You saved me !!
Judge Barbeito my name is Donald Hunt you presided over my case in Fresno as we were leaving you asked for some medical records pertaining to an incident where the Dr gave me Demerol and told my mother he was worried about me because my Cd4 counts were very low and my viral load extremely high and with my kidneys failing and I just got over a bad case of cellulitis which nearly turned into sepsis it's pertinent I get these records to you in a timely fashion but I have no car no way to pay for faxes since they are long distance and 1.59$ per page I need he
I agree, Barbeito is horrid. I was set up for a teleconference hearing. The proctors could not get the equipment working properly, so there was a delay starting. Then she went to a doctor who is a board-certified pulmonologist, although my issues are fibromyalgia and extreme arthritis. Most of the hearing was given over to that quack, who made the most ludicrous comments I have ever heard from a so-called doctor. Then she went to the vocational expert who said his piece. Then there was a fire scare and everybody had to abandon the building. I was unable to ask any questions or argue any point. She asked me two questions: 1) what makes you think YOU are disabled, and 2) are you seeing a psychiatrist. I tried to explain that I was between psychs, as I get my care through the VA and the psych I have been seeing had left and no replacement had yet been hired. When I tried to explain that, she immediately cut me off saying, YES OR NO???? She did ultimately grant a PARTIAL approval, which gave me zero back pay and zero for the lawyers fee. But I had to take it because otherwise, I could have ended up with nothing. I have now been off work for 3.5 years, from a job, which, by the way, I LOVED and hated to retire from. My HR manager asked me to stay, and when I explained to him which I was going through, he TOLD me to leave and file for SSDI. To make it even worse, my last employer was the Department of Defense, another federal agency! I left in Dec of 2013 and have yet to receive a penny of SSDI, because, of course, the three years before my hearing date didn't count, so now I am waiting out my five month waiting period. This whole process was a cruel joke. So glad I worked for 45 years, frequently two jobs at time, paying all of my taxes to be treated like criminal by the likes of Barbeito.
Dear Judge Barbeito I hope you read this. You are reviewing my case. My symptoms are getting worse I have bipolar, depression and anxiety which cannot be denied in my record. I also receive Botox on my eyes by a neurologist now before it was a opthomoligist. The neurologist on the phone needs to know what Blephorspasm is before saying anything else my neurologist will say differently. I will reaply if denied due to my severe disabilities. Writhed by a friend due to vision issues. J.Fujimoto 7101 Cynthia Starkey.

I have found through personal interaction that Judge S oandra R DiMaggio Wallis is a consummate professional who engages claimants with an object and open mindset. It is my hope that she continue to facilitate her duties with the application of knowledge and the faculty of wisdom with which she has received from our Most High God.

Judge Sandra Dimaggio Wallis really helped my wife in receiving her fully favorable decision. She was a very understanding Judge being that my wife suffers with debilitating complex regional pain syndrome (crps) and bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome (cts). Thank you so very much Judge Sandra Dimaggio Wallis!!! You are the best!! May God bless you tremendously!
Please Help Me.Please
This judge was rude every time he asked me a question he would talk over me and wouldn't let me really talk he got on my lawyer for no reason his body language let me no I was denied before the hearing started these judges are racist and bias they aren't trying to approve any one they are there to find a reason to say no that's it SSA is so full of it they help people that don't need it but when you really need the help they are here to say no..
Wow! Judge likes to make an entrance. He is condescending and rude to clients, he will allow no opening or closing and no cross on VE unless you speak up. Clearly believes all younger individuals and obese people can work.

This judge really had me thinking he was going to approve me. He even seemed to show empathy towards my medical conditions. However, when I received his denial letter I saw how feign he is. He told me several times that I was too young. His reasoning for me to be denied was based on the fact that I'm trying to go to school and cling on to hope for my future. I have both severe spinal and neurological problems coupled with depression. This judge was undoubtedly biased towards my age and told me social security was not a scholarship program. He put me down for getting descent grades thanks to the help from the disability resource center at school and could care less that I have worked for over 11 years. Unfortunately I am still disabled and unable to work.

Judge Gaye is arrogant and rude, mainly to attorneys. He doesn't really want the attorneys involvement. He is smart. He does review the file. You better be prepared to step up and involve yourself in the hearing or it will be over and you will not have gotten across certain points or questions you needed to make. You need to make sure you make a record because he will make some mistakes, partly because he is dismissive in his attitude. I agree that younger people(under 50) are in trouble in front of him, especially those in 20's, 30's.

Although arrogant and rude, he actually is right most often. It is more difficult to qualify for disability when you are under 50. That is the law, not just the judge's opinion!

If the record is not complete by the time of the hearing (i.e. you are still waiting for records to come in) you may consider requesting a postponement with this particular ALJ. His approval rating is high and he is a good judge. Just know your file and your theory of the case before going in! (especially specific grid number or listing)
Judge Hannon was good enough to rule that I can get my money back from SSA who unfairly - and unlawfully witheld it for two years (this threw my life into havoc of course). Nine months later, I have not received that money. Communications from SSA are horrendous. When I call, they acknowlege that they owe me but just don't know what the "processing center" is doing, or not doing.
Well, I really hope that it's over, only time will tell! After close to a three year wait, I was able to get in, and speak with Judge T. Patrick Hannon. I really didn't know what to expect, nervous as hell as maybe some would expect. Naturally shaken, and afraid of the unknown, The Lord Held Me, just as I knew "HE' would, and I'm So Grateful for HIS Presence. Thank You LORD! If I had to say something about the Judge, I would say, he gave me a fair chance to speak and express how I felt. That meant a lot, folks barely pay any attention to what others are saying, or are trying to say. He listened, asked questions, gave me an opportunity to ask questions, and appeared to have had human interest and respect for me and my case. Don't know how it will turn out, didn't feel one way or another when I made my way out of the room. I do know, that I felt better coming out, then I did going in! It could have been relief for getting this behind me, or because what I expected to take place, didn't! Nothing like I imagined, so if anything, try not to get to worked up about these types of situation, as if you Swear by your Word, and your Word is your Bond with Our Heavenly Father, then things will go as they should! and I feel that it did! Thank You Judge T. Patrick Hannon I will follow-up with the decision of my appeal hearing to let you guys how it went, one way or the other...
My experience with Judge Hannon was extremely negative. Judge Hannon denied my client's disability claim on the assertion that my client's disability was not an impairment that met the severity of one of the listed impairments in 20 C.F.R. Part 404, Subpart P, Appendix 1. Yet, my client's disability is in fact one of the listed impairments. Because of my negative experience and impression that Judge Hannon was prejudicial towards minorities and misogynistic, I researched him and located several lawsuits including T. Patrick Hannon v. Shirley Chater, Commissioner of the Social Security Administration 887 F.Supp. 1303 (1995). Judge Hannon sued the Social Security Administration claiming that "he was passed over for an administrative law judge ("ALJ") position in the Social Security Administration ("SSA") because he is a white male." Thus, my foregoing impression of Judge Hannon was corroborated by the fact that Judge Hannon sued the SSA because women and minorities were being given ALJ positions instead of white males like him. You can read the full case law at the following address: https://scholar.google.com/scholar_case?case=8415962884401642691&q=887+F.Supp.+1303&hl=en&as_sdt=2006
this Judge is a *****, so if you are not white, you will not win your case.
Judge Harrell is very intimidating. In addition, he broke Social Security laws when I had to see him more than once, and he referred to my previous hearing when I had no legal representation. By SSA law, he was not allowed to review my previous hearing because I did not have legal representation. SSA law also states that once a judge had denied your case, you will not see that judge again. Further, he intimidated the Occupational Expert when she said there was no job I could do. He basically forced her to change her decision. To cover his errors, he claimed that he audio portion was distorted, and I had to return again. All in all, I had to see him three times and he broke at least 3 laws. He is the head of the judges in the San Bernardino area. AWFUL JUDGE!

This judge gave great weight to the testimony of the experts who did not have a face-to-face interview with me and little weight to the doctors who had a personal face-to-face interview with me. Judge Harrell's final determination was filled with subjective inconsistency and relied on his on medical reasoning. Judge Harrell played doctor with my case. Of course, I appealed to the board in Virginia who discovered that the audio tapes of the medical doctor and vocational experts were missing and remanded my case for a new hearing in front of a different judge. Judge Harrell definitely needs a refresher course in ethical behavior.

I am an attorney. I see lots of comments on here about the law that are completely wrong. If you want to see what kind of Judge you have, look at the percentages of awards provided on this site. Do not look at the comments for an understanding of the law. It seems many of the commenters are very misinformed about the hearing process. All and all, I highly recommend using an attorney at your hearing so someone who understands disability law can help you understand the procedure.

I am an attorney. I see lots of comments on here about the law that are completely wrong. If you want to see what kind of Judge you have, look at the percentages of awards provided on this site. Judge Harrell was fair. When he asked questions I didn't feel like he was trying to trick me like the previous ALJ. He was aware of my medical issues where the previous ALJ was uninterested.
Judge Mason Harrell Jr. Is a fair judge waiting on his decision.
I felt judge Harrell did his duties as a judge quite fair. However, he did not ask opinions from my medical expert or vocational expert which has me a little worried. Other than that I felt for my first time at a hearing I felt relaxed and calm.
The last comment is completely understandable. I had judge Harrell and the whole process took about 15 minutes. The judge did not ask the vocational expert any questions and he may have asked to verify the medical expert special codes my Ssdi Lawyer had brought up. After all the questions were asked he asked me a few questions about my daily life, then asked my attorney if he had any questions and the attorney said no and that was it. With all that said I got a fully favorable consideration. I think if your attorney comes in really prepared and gives a pre-briefing that is perfect for the judge everything will go fine. I just got a fully favorable consideration today ( July 10 19). So for the last comment I really would not have anything to worry about. My Attorney said that case couldn't have gone any better. And just to bring up one thing he did say that the reason why the judge did not ask questions to the vocational rehabilitation expert is why he predicted that my case was basically going to win ( and he was right ). So if you have any worries please know, that judge does not really speak too much and if he does I think that’s where you have the problems, Because he is looking for reasons to deny you. So if I were a betting man, you have nothing to worry about other than maybe getting a fully favorable consideration, thanks
Although, I do not know the outcome of my hearing just yet, I must say this Judge made my hearing so easy, so stress free. Very pleasant, and I felt very fair. Sweet, seemed to care.

The 2nd best ALJ in Oakland. She has a relaxed and kind personality. She will listen to what your are saying. However, you still will need have favorable MD opinions that are supported by objective medical records/testing

A very fair and understanding ALJ who knows the law and ensures that the "right" things happen. That's very important because of the waiting time to get Social Security. It was a pleasure to go before her, regardless of her ruling.

i would like my case reviewed by judge sanya hill maxion, not judge lavendor, any more he's is always appointed as judge in my cases, why is these appeals called a case any how? or give me judge william jr., these judges has the lowest denied rate and dismissles. i have surely not been judged as a person with behavorial issues. thank you

1 of the top 2 judges in the Oakland ODAR. If you lose with her, then you have no case, essentially. She will ask reps to expand on any arguments they make with specific references to law, regs, rulings, or the evidence, before she considers them. Judge Hill-Maxion will give you a lot of leeway to develop cases post-hearing, to clarify negative issues, and if an ME says a listing, she'll end the hearing very quick to grant.

In 2007, my ME did not have time to read my medical records, did not believe a word I had said, and stopped my W.Comp from that day forward. In 2010, one day prior to my hearing with Judge Sanya Hill Maxion, I knelt for the 2nd time ever in my life at home, and prayed to God and Jesus above, to please let my SSDI judge be a human being, be kind, caring, and loving, and be someone who would give me the judgment that HE would give to me. Whatever it would be, I would accept it. I knew in my heart that HE knew that I was truly injured and could not continue to work. The moment I entered the hearing room and saw Judge Sanya Hill Maxion, I saw the love on her face. If God was a woman, she was Him. And my Allsup representative was my guardian angel. When I go home, I cried and cried with gratefulness. I used to know OF God, but now KNOW Him. He IS love. Thank you God, and thank you, Judge Sanya Hill Maxion, and my Allsup guardian angel!
A very nice, compassionate judge. Goes out of her way to make claimants and attorneys welcome and comfortable with the process. Very fair and thorough questioning. If the evidence is not there, you will probably not prevail, but I can tell by her demeanor that everyone who appears before her is treated with kindness and respect.
She is very nice and lovable person. She is a best judge. God bless her always.
On 6/22/17 I had hearing before an ALJ. I have no words to explain how She is an outstanding kind judge to appear before like an Angel may God the most high bless her forever and give her the best of her life.... Thanks for your kind generasity.....
She was a very nice judge. Her compassion made it easier and less nerve racking for me. Think the hearing went in my favor today. Thank you judge for making the process stress free.
It would be nice to know this judge demeaner.

I felt some sort of disdain and contempt coming from Judge Inama at my hearing. I think he wanted to deny me and then set about finding a way to do so. I paid into the system for 20+ years and now I am making a legitimate claim, and he denies me. The system failed, and this judge failed. Disgusted.
I felt that Judge Inama was annoyed at the prospect of even having to hear my case. He looks for any reason to deny benefits and I felt his disgust towards me the whole time I was in front of him. He has no business being in this position of holding people's livelihood in his hands!
Too bad there isn't a rating lower than one or I would give this Obama Ass Clown that rating.

Conducts a quick hearing. Lets the representative do most of the questioning. However, she will find any loophole to deny; especially D & A.

IF you want a fair Judge that listens and ask the best questions about your case, she reads and understands, i been threw alot but i kept on because i have worked, and this judge is differant than the other one i had. shes a great judge i will tell anybody that. thank u judge NANCY FOR YOUR FAVORABLE DECISION ON MY CASE. ITS BEEN A LONG AND HARD ROAD FOR ME.
Just had my hearing with her after waiting a long while. She's very professional, nice & respectful. Had my representative do a lot of the questioning. Always be honest! She's a good listener & has decided to keep my case open for another 2 weeks to get some more medical records submitted to her. She seems to be understanding & even wished me good luck! Hoping & praying for a favorable decision! Whether she approves me or not, thank you to her for being my judge & taking the time to hear my case about how my conditions have impacted my life & ability to work.

Worst ALJ I have ever appeared before. He will intentionally berate the rep, me & VE. I know several VE that will not even agree to testify in his hearings. On the record he stated that fibro was a mental health condition. He will not question claimant or really allow rep to question. I was in 2 different hearings with him this week and the medical expert testified to meeting listing...oh no... Not this judge, he challenged the me. FYI judge, your not a Dr...hence the ME!! Ugh, not 1 positive thing to say. I do love an ALJ ,that is clearly ,obease, to sit and ridicule my client, whom is much thinner, about how they should lose weight and their DDD will magically disappear....pass on this guy!

One of the nastiest ALJs I have ever had the misfortune to meet. He is horribly disorganized; his hearings ALWAYS begin HOURS behind schedule, probably because he so enjoys wasting time playing mind-games and reaming clients and attys over irrelevancies. He was extremely rude to my client who was struggling with dual life-threatening diagnoses/illnesses. He then denied his claim. Case merits aside, a person who cannot manage to behave with a modicum of decency toward obviously gravely ill claimants lacks the basic humanity to sit in judgement of others.

Easily the worst ALJ I have ever gone before. I have gone before him twice, on both occasions he began the hearing by delivering a condescending half-hour lecture on the importance of having a complete record -- this was after I had informed him that treatment records from only a month earlier had been ordered but not yet received by my office. He held both hearings up for HOURS by delivering petty lectures about irrelevant details, often going back to issues he had already addressed and badgering my clients with belligerent questions. He always calls a medical expert -- to my mind, the mark of a lazy judge who does not want to make his own analysis of the evidence. In my first case with him, I had just received records days before and had submitted them to the efile when they were received. Lyman adjourned the hearing and refused to take even basic testimony from my client. He then lectured about how his office requires that the attorney must submit all records received within 7 days of the hearing DIRECTLY to the medical expert -- the ODAR will not do it, despite the fact that the ME is his witness. In any case, expect to spoon-feed him the record, because he won't be familiar with it. He seems to have a bizarre understanding of the disability framework, also: he heavily implied in one of our hearings that he did not believe it possible for a combination of impairments to render a claimant disabled. I cannot think of a single good thing to say about this ALJ. He is a walking waste of taxpayer money.

I must say I got a chuckle out of the above comments because going before this Judge was a surreal experience he was so nasty and rude. I have been practicing law for 15 years and this guy is the most unprofessional judge I have ever seen. He also gave me a condescending lecture because I did not fax evidence to the medical expert ahead of time even though the rules don't require it and his own Notice of Hearing states that evidence can be brought to the hearing and not even faxed ahead of time at all. He also lectured the attorney in the hearing before me for not being able to read his mind and not faxing the evidence to the ME before the hearing. I actually kind of feel sorry for the guy because he was so angry.

Judge Lyman is an ornery old man who is bitter about his job and likes to take it out of other people. He wastes time giving his little lectures about being prepared and not having all the medical records. Then when you ask for additional time to hold records open he wants you to tell him what is in them, like I am a freakin' psychic! He also won't let you question your client without a reference to the medical records, and will then lecture you about wasting time questioning the claimant. He even is rude to the MEs and the recorders. I dread appearing in front of this Judge and feel bad for my clients who have to deal with his badgering. He needs to change fields....maybe he can work as airport security or at the DMV, he'd fit in well there.
I had to fax over three papers he requested,my laywer was an absolute disaster.he didnt even know my case at all..he felt like a probation officer,mr lyman saw this layer was doing me a great disservice and postponed my hearing.I havent gone back to see mr lyman but I can see he IS A FAIR judge and wants to help people like me....
I must say I took a like to judge Lyman he reminds me of my dad he's all about helping a long as your honest .
I don't even know where to start with this guy. I've had many hearings with this degenerate, and he is as stupid as he is nasty. To the person who said his/her attorney was a disaster, Lyman will do everything he can to make it look like your attorney is a disaster. He hates attorneys. At one hearing he went on a diatribe and lectured me because I could not recall a certain grid rule. Then, it turned out, he didn't know it either. I don't take San Jose cases just to avoid him, but now he is also helping out with the Fresno caseload and I've had him in Fresno twice in the past month. Today he allowed an ME to talk directly to my client (not ask questions) and I objected. Big mistake. Berated again. I could go on. . . .
PHILLIP C LYMAN is a very particular person. I understand he has routines and people have a hard time knowing them ahead of time. He seemed to have contempt for my representation but seemed compassionate to my problems. He listened to the evidence presented; some favorable and some unfavorable. He gave a bench decision for favorable, but I haven't received a written decision yet. The process is stressful, and it is hard to manage the weight of this burden on top of other issues going on in your life. He seems to be able to fish out the evidence he needs of impairment. Once met, he is a decider. I thank him, he has given me a hope that I cannot describe.
This judge rarely paid attention during my video conference hearing. Was talking to his clerk in the room with him about issues not relating to my case. He didn't listen to the VE say there was nothing I could do and made up other jobs I was able to be hired for. This judge may have a higher than normal approval rating, but he must have been having a bad day when my case came up and being the first one of the day didn't help. Lawyer is appealing to the AC in hopes of getting it kicked back for a more thorough hearing next time.

Very fair judge usually uses ME and VE and has attorney present case will allow record to be left open if you need to submit additional evidence.

ALJ Michaud dismissed my Notice of Reconsideration and remanded case back to Salinas, CA SSA office where they won't budge. Read about 3 years ago that the judge had the highest vote percentage in approval and small percentage denial. 70% approval votes! Much less now . . . I felt the judge was on my side even though I refuse to hire an attorney because attorney Marcia Anderson out of Maryland has been providing me with free advice - extensive. Google her for free advice.

This ALJ used to be a dealer -- for an amended onset you could likely get a win. Now she's becoming quite conservative, denying lots of cases and obfuscating her decisions, even for cases she would have granted a year ago!

I've tried to post before.. let me try again. If your Honest and prepared and deserving, I belive Judge Mary Parnow will rule in your favor. I feel she.is fair and open minded.
I just posted 5 stars for Judge Parnow, let me add ,I had two hearings ( the second a supplemental) and I am waiting for her decision. And I still give her a good rating.. why..because she gave me a good caring vibe.. My only HOPE of change is a answer " if yes" to hear it in court.. then waiting for the letter of confirmation wont be so hard and stressful.. good luck all.
Why does the web sites show mixed comments? If a person doesn't click on site, a person can get the wrong impression of that judge.not right to mix a positive comment with a negative comment. Thats for all judges. Unfair and tricky.
She makes me wait five months until she sends me a rejection letter. I am outraged at how low life criminals with prison and drug records who fake schizophrenia to get a free check that goes to the dope man on the first of every month. Check out 17th Street and Imperial Avenue near St Vincent De Paul-Father Joe Villages. When honest people have paid into the system and honestly need help they are continuously denied. I often wonder about people in high positions.
I found her to be kind, respectful, thorough, and fair. She was genuinely interested in me and my daily struggles. She listened closely, asked clear questions and even kept me past the allotted time to hear my answers. I was very pleased with the process, with her and my outcome.
He ranks right up there as one of the most arrogant ALJs I have come across. Showed no compassion in how he dealt with a very mentally challenged client.

Judge Rogozen demonstrates knowledge of the law, a clear passion for the subject matter, and IMHO is a compassionate judge. Fair, impartial and results consistent with other cases.

Even though his approval ratings have improved since he worked in San Jose(70% denied), this is not a judge you want to appear before. Most of his opinion is based on the Social Security doctor's evaluations and not the overall medical record. The problem I see with this is that the Social Security doctors only see the patient once and their opinions are obviously swayed to the benefit of their employer and not the patient.

Skarda took the opportunity to insult client during hearing. Not much better with his decision than manners.

Christopher Trevor Skarda has let his license to practice law expire from what I saw online, so he must think he has this job for life. He does act snobby and prejudiced. He made sure to ask if I smoke. He also made a big deal of my weight, I felt shamed, then did not consider it a disabling factor or symptom of the disability. Yes, I saw that look of contempt on his face several times during the hearing. A good piece of my disability, mentally and physically, was from physically violent domestic abuse, which was never considered or discussed in my decision letter. I seriously question his ability to decided anything fairly because he seemed more interested in his own biases in the decision letter.

ALJ Skarda apparently believes that it is his patriotic duty to save the country money by denying disability claims. I represent claimants in the Sacramento, San Raphael, Stockton, Fresno, and Redding hearing offices, and Skarda is the most conservative ALJ in Northern California. For instance, in one case my client went to hearing in a necessarily prescribed walker. Her medical records were voluminous, with many opinions from her specialists. Despite conflicting medical source statements from my clients specialists regarding her RFC, Skarda gave the VE ridiculous hypotheticals, which were answered by the VE with equally ridiculous representative jobs. In the written decision, Skarda gave controlling weight to the state agency examiner's opinions, despite overwhelming contrary evidence from the claimant's doctors. This ALJ needs to be brought to the attention of The Division of Quality Service and disciplined or removed from the bench.

Professional judge with solid statistics. He is not the worse judge in this office or Northern California. Yes, he's very laid-back and no, he's not coddling you. He has to decide how to use the taxpayer's money and he takes that seriously so he will question you about smoking, weight, etc... If obesity aggravates your condition or smoking, why should taxpayers pay for that? I'm not asking that but that is the question the judge will want to know. Or why should we pay this claim for a diabetic who refuses to take his insulin. So judges will ask tough questions. Judge Skarda, like most judges will go with the state's RFC if there are no opinions from treating providers OR opinion evidence from treating provider's based solely on subjective complaints or not consistent with record as a whole. Claimants will view him hardly because they've only seen him once. As an attorney, I can say he's fair and professional, and quite thorough in how he handles his cases.
He is the WORST!!!! I had private doctors do my evals as well as there retarded doctors and he only went with the retarded doctors opinion. I am not mentally disabled, I am physically disabled and all he wanted to focus on was my mental. Therefore DENIED!!! I personally thought they picked up a bumb off the streets of Stockton and told him to play judge when he walked in. Shorts, robe, long greasy straggly long hair. I felt like asking him to please take a shower when he came in. Not impressed at all. Maybe he really does need to go to law school again. At least personal hygiene and professional training. His remark in my denial letter "claimant was well dressed and put together so she can take care of herself". HELLO I am going to court, I thought I should get out of my jammies. Maybe he should take some of his own criticism.
I had this judge for my hearing; he had some hard questions, but between my statements & medical records, the case was approved. Total time maybe 20 minutes. No complaints!
So I read all of the comments about this Judge in preparation for a full day of hearings before him. I will say after six hearings that I think the criticisms are unfairly leveled against this ALJ. He knew each case extremely well before they ever walked into his hearing room. He wanted the time in the hearing to be focused on the relevant issues and not, as so many ALJs are prone to, asking scores of ultimately irrelevant questions. He was very cordial to the claimants and even took the time on several of them to thank them for their cases, since we (he, the VHR, me, the VE) were all there to service their case and the system that they worked so hard to pay into. I think the attorneys in Stockton must be trying to keep other attorneys from the area by saying he's so rough (joking), but I found him to be fair and delightful to deal with.
I appeared before him in December 2017. I was very happy that he had already gone over my records and was able to ask specific questions. He has a rather laid back attitude but his questioning is very direct and professional. He doesn’t waste any time and keeps the hearings short. He issued a partially favorable decision in my case, and I thought the decision was well written and very helpful to my understanding why he changed my onset date. If you are assigned to this judge, don’t fret. Just make sure you are prepared.
Judge Regina L. Sleater once came to work still intoxicated and when she opened the door to the office kitchen cabinet she slammed it into her head so hard that she passed out on the floor... when she worked in Anchorage, Alaska...she also had liquid lunches at Simon and Seaford and would leave with her glass half full.
Judge Valentino,I wish to say thank you for being so kind to me.I have had a hard life and your kind ways really helped me.I am glad I got my truth out there, where it needed to be heard.I believe in our government as being fair and just and I am convinced you are a really nice person.I have been reading Matthew, chapter 25 verse 31 thru 46.The part about the sheep and the goats. You truly are a sheep in my eyes, and I hope to see you there when The Lord rewards his people for their good deeds.I myself am doing fine, still sick, but I just wanted to say,Thank You.See you later,Leona M.Goth.
Tryed to reschedule due to having my daughter and mothers surgery’s weeks away from each other and the judge didn’t care.
Cruel, Peter. Why? Evil Peter. So Luke is related to you? Interesting. He did say his father was a judge.

Being Illuminati and taking your lord’s name in vain is quite the contradiction. You are aware of this, no? Deception, powerful weapons to the uninitiated. But you are initiated, aren’t you, members of the league of shadows? Leave me alone.
I had my case heard today before judge Zeidman, I felt that he was very fair and listened to my case. He seemed very compassionate and treated me with respect. He also thanked me for my military service to the country in which I really appreciated. I don't know what decision he will make, but whatever that decision is, I will accept and know that this judge was completely fair.
