I had my disability hearing with judge Lisa Johnson and she approved my application . She is a very knowledgeable and fair judge . Judge Johnson get straight to the point and ask you the questions required by law to determine if your case is approved or denied . She is serious about her job . First and foremost I want thanks God for my favorable outcome ; also thanks to judge Lisa Johnson for approving my disability .

This judge is AWSOME! She saw my case and she saw the physician notes on my case and made a decision. I am so grateful for her, this was in 2010 and today ( 9/2019) I suffer even more with this disease. But it helps to know that I am not crazy and that it's not in my mind (the pain) that it's a real disease( Fibromyalgia). I pray for you and your family! Thank you Judge for your favor!

Is this the same Judge that was arrested for shoplifting and choke and puke, who denied me my disabilty. I was honest, medical records proved it but they let him deny me

Judge: Michael L Brownfield
7/5/2019 3:38:54 PM

I had a hearing with Judge Brownfield and he denied my case. I am blind in one eye and has minimal vision in the left eye and can't lift my left arm and this judge says I am able to work. I can't drive due to my vision. This judge has no heart what so ever, if I get a job how am I suppose to do my job blind and can't keep up. Is he going to move and drive me to a job and do the work for me. He doesn't care about people he is only trying to make a paycheck. I have been depressed about not being able to work but I guess I will have to be dead in order to get some help. This is her sister typing for her. The state of Alabama only cares about one race of people.

Judge: George W Merchant

I went before Judge Merchant to present my case for my minor child. I do not know the outcome yet. However, I will state that he has a kind demeanor and I thought that when he met us in the waiting room before I realized he was our judge. I did not feel intimidated & I felt like he was relatable. My child did start crying and I had to pause to see if she was okay. Judge Merchant immediately stepped from the bench to console my child. I appreciated the compassion he displayed to her. Even if he doesn’t rule in her favor my opinion remains the same. I still like the other lady who ruled against us before going in front of ALJ even if I did not agree with her decision. I understand the emotions ppl go through when dealing with physical and/or mental disabilities. I too feel offended and aggravated that my child has to live a challenging life unlike the majority of her peers and social security is trying to say she’s no longer considered disabled- I would give my right arm for that to be true. However, I understand these people sometimes have to make challenging decisions and it’s not always easy to make and I try not to take it too personal and just appeal to the next level. I am just glad that Judge Merchant was not intimidating and respectful and not someone who has a stoic and/or condescending attitude.

Judge Perry, was a compassionate, understanding judge. Very nice, and as far as I'm concerned, he's on my Christmas list. He approved me after I had been denied by the board, with medical conditions I have that is terminal no cure, should have been approved the first time. Judge Perry is top notch in my book. I can't say enough good things about him.

From the beginning the judge seemed to be against me because of my age I guess. She denied me and I have medical proof that I'm disabled and I do believe that she is against a young person being on disability.

After ignoring my doctor's report - I pray the Lord rains vengance upon this judge for his wrong doing toward people who have worked hard, in my case 40 years, paid into Social Security and then developed medical issues that prevent them from working. What does it take for this judge to see the light for people who are in need and do qualify? Again, I'm leaving it up to the Lord to take care of being done wrong by him.

I will say that I was not impressed with how I was treated at my ALJ hearing for my SSDI. Being a medically retired veteran and 100% disabled rated by the VA. After going through a heart attack, several spinal procedures and injections for pain from injury sustained in Iraq while deployed for a year and over 20+yrs in the service. I felt he was more concerned that I was receiving my military retirement pay instead of focusing on what I was at the hearing for "My SSDI" that I have paid into and earned over the past 30yrs! As I had to keep saying, I was forced to retire from my full-time job and it's hard to deal with the pain. Over 700 pages of medical documentation from doctors/specialist and still denied! The hearing was a complete waste of time and I think this judge did not like the fact that I draw my earned retirement and applied for my SSDI!!!

I had my hearing the first week in April, it is now 9/10/17 and still have not heard anything from ODAR. All they keep telling me is that it is in unassigned writing. Sounds like they need to hire more people to write up judges decisions.

Judge: Lisa M Johnson

I appeared almost 90 days in front of Judge Johnson. She was quite perturbed by my attorney and the fact the video system wasn't working certainly didn't help matters. But we couldn't reschedule. My health is declining and I can't afford to go to the doctor..not to mention we are about to lose everything due to my illness. Why is it taking so long to hear to judges decision?

Judge: Cynthia W Brown
6/25/2017 8:04:48 AM

She denied me & am disabled, but God!! Will deal with her & repay her evil 4 my good....You don't deny peoples just because you can....She looked @ me & told me that my pain didn't add up 2 my medical record & she was so wrong with all the chronic pain along with other problems that I suffer with....I don't think that you can look @ a person & tell them what kind of pain they are in & what kind of pain they don't have....I feel she judged me wrong & by that being said, she will be judged according 2 God's will & when he judge her can't no 1 undo it.....He's going 2 stand on his word & his will is going 2 be done....I have worked all my life, every since high school & when I became injured on my job & disabled, I worked as long as I could suffering in a great deal of pain, until I wss unable 2 bear it anymore(& I told her this)so I ended up having 2 leave out, because I became disabled....But enough said!! Except 4 God!! Step in & judge her according 2 the way she judged me....

Judge: Denise A Copeland
6/16/2017 9:52:30 AM

Very kind and compassionate judge. Had my review in April, still haven't gotten my decision yet though but that is due to it being stuck in the ODAR office in Birmingham. When I call the ODAR office I was told they dont have any writers at this time. What I gathered from that is that even though the Judges are making a decision they are sitting in an office piling up waiting to be written up. This kind of scares me. If you are waiting after your hearing in the Birmingham are the ODAR # is 866-613-2863

Judge: Lawrence Levey
6/6/2017 7:15:13 PM

I chose to present my case without a lawyer since I know more about my condition than anyone else and had read on this website that Judge Levey was fair. Judge Levey made me feel like my case was important. He explained the issues and the hearing process. He showed that he had read my file, and asked good questions that focused on my condition and helped me to present my case. He was sympathetic and respectful and funny and kind. And at the end of the hearing he told me that he would be awarding me the benefits that I had fought for for years. In the age of Donald Trump, Judge Levey is like a welcome breath of fresh air.

I feel that judge hagler did not take all my physical problems into consideration, my whole body hurts all the time and she said I could go back to the collection, office work I used to do, I would rather die. I was just barely able to keep my job then. I was even seeing the employee assist counselor there.i hope she knows she has ruined my life and I will probably lose what little we have. I am so scared to death, i go before this judge in less than 24 hrs. I am so hoping to get a favorable decision. I suffer with a very disabling rare neuropthy. I also have 6 mental health issues, on top of needing surgery on my right shoulder. I haven't been able to afford proper medications that i so desperatly need for almost a year now. I have prayed and asked everyone for prayers for me. I really need this so i can get the proper help i need.

Judge Merchant is kind, precise, and well prepared. He takes his position serious with an understanding heart. Please don't make your decision of him off of reading comments. Judge: Mary E Helmer

I found Judge Helmer to be very pleasant to deal with in the courtroom. She told my lawyer, after I left the courtroom, that she found me credible, but when I got her unfavorable decision in the mail, it was totally opposite. She basically refuted everything I said, so I really don't understand that because to me her statement to my lawyer and her decision were totally opposite. In all fairness to Judge Helmer, I did not have enough medical documentation to put my SSI disability through though I didn't realize that at the time since this was my first time going before an administrative law judge.

Well yesterday I had my hearing and meet Judge Johnson. She is a very sharp person and everything didn't go in my favor but I thought she was very fair compared to my last judge. Judge Johnson is a very pretty woman and I truly believe she will give me a favorable decision as long as she sees that I worked my whole life and made good money. I only stopped because I could no longer go on. Plasm 23. Emmett

Judge: Charles L Brower
10/11/2016 9:59:36 AM

I found Judge Charles Brower to be very just and willing to hear the claimant expressing himself. Judge Brower was very humane and polite to the claimant and myself. He explained the whole hearing process to the claimant, he then went to admit the evidence into record. He swore the claimant and VE in. Then Judge Brower immediately interviewed the claimant, he then asked me if I had any questions for my claimant. I then interviewed my claimant and when done the Judge asked the VE two questions then got off the record.

I recently represented a claimant before Judge Charles Brower. Judge Brower was very humane and polite to the claimant and myself. He explained the whole hearing process to the client, he then went to admit the evidence into record. He swore the claimant and VE in. He immediately interviewed the claimant, he then asked me to explain and prove on the Medical record evidence, the client's dx that meets the SSA Listing, I presented the evidence to prove dx limitations he experiences and history his symptoms. I believe this Judge was very just and willing to hear the claimant expressing himself.

Judge: Jill Lolley Vincent

I had my hearing yesterday and was awarded a favorable bench decision. I had sepsis in February of 2014 with multiple organ failure I stayed in a coma for two months. After I was released I had two strokes from blood clots. It left me with moderate brain damage. I can barely speak, I can't feed myself cloth or bathe by myself I can still type albeit slow. I went from being an engineer to having hard time figuring out who i was and where I was.I was still turned down initially due to insufficient paperwork. All that being said it comes down to preparation of your case. An attorney in a box is not the best solution. You should find an attorney who knows the judges in the area and knows how they want a case presented. My attorney had all my medical documentation and took time to keep it current every doctor visit. It was all presented in a very professional synopsis in chronological order with supporting evidence. So when everyone bashes the judges maybe you should be bashing your attorney. Everyone on here has merits for their case but if they are presented poorly before the hearing with little documentation would you approve it. I was very surprised how well Judge Vincent knew my file front to back She understood my inability to speak well and took the time to let me answer even if it took several minutes. My attorney never had to speak the VE said I couldn't do any work. I fully believe most judges have their mind somewhat made up before the hearing hence the importance of very good support documentation. The more questions ask of you at the hearing means they either were not answered in documentation or a weak case. Thats my two cents hope it helps.

Judge: Jerome L Munford
1/28/2016 5:15:26 PM

I had my hearing, and while it seemed as if he was listening, when I got my order it became apparent he had NOT listened to anything nor considered anything. He chose to listen to a dr. who prescribes the meds my therapist recommends and sees me 15 minutes every three months rather than the therapist herself. He completely ignored not only my orthopedist, he made the assumption that I did not go to physical therapy. I did go, it was in the paperwork! I just quit because it was actually making my problem worse. Then because I am ALLERGIC to most narcotics and cannot take them, and the ones I can take are useless with my back condition it, in his words "must not be as severe as presented." So I have to be an addict to be in real pain? Because that's not bad enough he completely dismisses the doctor that the Social Security office sent me too! He completely ignored every piece of medical evidence presented to treat me like I'm faking my pain and issues. Thanks Judge Munford! Now I get to file bankruptcy since I was already three months past what I had saved. How the hell does a doctor, FOUR of them, say I'm incapable of doing significant work or any work and a judge just goes "oh well" with no accountability for it? This type of screwed system where I can have a neighbor drawing disability for her problematic foot and nothing else, and I can't get any help for multiple issues is why moving to another country is sounding better and better. Maybe if I had been a veteran he would have taken me more seriously...but no I'm just a girl who watched and worried because every male in her family serve!

He acknowledged at the opening of my hearing; he had carefully reviewed/knowledgeable of all supporting documents, and is prepared to preside. Judge: Joseph F Dent
8/5/2015 12:32:14 PM

He was very kind to me, after being denied twice in the past, and he approved me with very few questions at the hearing. He is a fair judge and a good person. I do think he wants to help people and shows compassion. He had really read my records, was knowledgable about my situation and had a few questions about things. He's smarter than the other two judges I saw. Do Not Lie To Him. My lawyer advised me be as honest as I could possibly be even if it makes me look bad as being lied to or omitting things is his thing that really pisses him off. He does ask provoking questions that you may not like answering, but answer them honestly anyway. I did and I was approved, and my answers were a little embarrassing. We don't apply for disability because we're well. Good luck!

I am a citizen of these united states I feel that judge lisa Johnson went against the profesionals on my case .they said I was unable to perform any work she did not take there advise. I feel I was discrimated against .one of her questions was what type of home I lived in I answered mobile home.she just shook her head. This judge was wrong in my case and I don't know what to do to take care of my family.I worked from the time I was 14 and now I am 45 with diabetes ,depression ,degenerative disc disease in my back along with arthritis through out my body. I have tried to find work and been turned down or unable to do the work due to my condition. In my opinion this judge did not do her job .God bless her she knows she was wrong.

Well I just had my hearing and I was so nervous! She seems very nice, cross examiner looking very serious but I was able to get a laugh out of him! Lol I will post my denial/approval in 60-90 days. She's new , a young lady. FYI don't try to represent yourself because it's confusing.

This is so unfair,I will be asking for another judge to look at my case when I appeal my case....this is so wrong how I got treated....I hope nobody else gets this judge..I'm sorry but this is so unfair..I just think the ones that has a drug addiction, and that is able to work, needs to stop drawing the disiabilty then,BC u only given them money to supply their habit.. Ssshh this is so crazy, this judge, and this system is messed up...pls explain how u do this to a disabled person that can't work....

Judge: Charles L Brower
5/19/2015 1:00:54 PM

Please hope that you dont get this judge. He was not only arrogant but also unprofessional. Talking about the case before me and how he knows shes faking it.. That he can tell when someone is in pain. Really? How can you physically see pain. Because of this judge i am bed bound, unemployed, no income, 35 and living with my parents. Im legally disabled, yet a man with no medical degree decides if i suffer or starve. I never got to bring in my witnesses, my lawyer was unprepared, ssi never sent me to their doctors, and I couldn't even read my statement.. seam fair?? What a joke.

Judge: Denise A Copeland

My daughter's disability benefits has been stopped, thanks to Judge Dent. I am on disability, and, cannot support myself and my daughter. She was also denied Medicaid. This Judge Dent has ruined many people's lives, from what I have been told. We will fight this to the end.

Judge: William Lawson
2/12/2015 7:40:49 PM

I had my hearing today with Judge Lawson. I found him very easy to talk with. I was told by my attorney's office that the Judge and the Attorney would do most of the talking, but that was not the case. Judge Lawson wanted to hear from me about my disabilities and how they had affected my life. He was very familiar with my case and very compassionate. He told me that he was going to go ahead and tell me today that I was approved, so I wouldn't have to continue waiting to hear the results from Social Security. Thank you Judge Lawson for being so kind!

5 star good judge

Judge: Joseph F Dent
9/29/2014 11:14:13 PM

I have found this judge to be extremely arrogant and dismissive of claimants. He once told a homeless client that "at least he has a tan." He also found that a schizophrenic client was able to socialize/maintain social functioning by going to church... a church he regularly attended because he thought he was Jesus. Your case could go either way- judge will often ignore numerous documents confirming disability by claiming he didn't find the claimant credible.

Judge: Lawrence Levey
9/23/2014 7:41:08 PM

Although this judge runs the most informal courtroom I have ever practiced in, he quickly shows he has read the exhibits, demonstrates great respect for the claimants and their representatives, listens to what is being said with a spirit of genuine curiosity and compassion, and questions the claimants carefully when their testimony diverges from what is contained in the record. Representatives should be prepared to present their cases (judge asks them to begin the questioning, then supplements the questioning afterwards), should prepare the claimants to deal with difficult issues (illegal drug use, reported earnings after the claimed disability onset date, receipt of unemployment benefits, unfavorable treating physician opinions, etc.) and should counsel them to tell the truth. With regard to the latter point, my experience has been that this judge is far more favorably inclined to claimants who testify truthfully (even if doing so appears to weaken the case on the merits) than to claimants who paint a picture of wholly disabling functional limitations that is contradicted by evidence in the record (objective findings, activities of daily living, previous inconsistent statements, etc.).

Judge: Sheila E McDonald
7/29/2014 12:58:18 PM

Her Honor was a very pleasant and fair judge. She studied my medical records like a good judge should. I was approved but even if I hadn't been, I was happy with her questioning and overall professionalism. Judgement was less than a month which surprised me after hearing all the horror stories.

Everyone has said that this judge is very rude and if he is your judge look for a denial. I have to say that he was not rude, he listened, he asked the needed questions, and he is just doing his job. I believe if you go to any judge...just tell your story and tell the one can explain your problems better than yourself. I am a retired disable veteran and I went in and just told the truth. Now I am just awaiting for my letter on a decision.

This judge told my brother in law that he was stupid and he didn't care that my brother in law had Colon cancer and prostate cancer. My brother in law is having his colon and prostate removed tomorrow. We may not be smart enough to go to law school but we were brought up to know you don't disrespect someone by calling them stupid. I think this judge needs to take a good look in the mirror, he might just see stupid looking back at him. My Brother in Law will have to wear a colostomy bag and a ostomy bag........and he doesnt qualify for SSC/Disibility??? Yes sitting in a chair and judging people he would be able to work but he does construction so you tell me how he is not qualified? SMH! Very disappointed in the in the judicial process...isn't this why we pay into SSC?? this judge is cold hearted and mean. Good luck to anyone who goes before him!

Judge: Denise A Copeland

Judge: Perry Martin

I waited over 2 months for a favorable decision. This man saved my life. Thank you Mr. Perry Martin for understanding my condition.

Judge: William Lawson
2/18/2014 5:43:59 AM

I had my hearing last week after a little more than 2 years of waiting. Judge Lawson had reviewed my case notes thoroughly and asked questions about my doctors, their treatments, and medications. He asked what a typical day is like, what I do differently now than before I got hurt, how the medications affect my life, and what my previous job duties consisted of. He had also pulled my SS earning record and was aware of past earnings as well as the hours required to earn it. After getting a response from the VE that I am not able to return to the medium and heavy duty jobs I have done in the previous 15 years, he told me right then that he approved my disability case. Anyone going before him will find him fair, thorough, and straight to the point. Bless him for easing my burden.

Judge: Charles L Brower
2/4/2014 6:16:48 PM

Judge Brower started my hearing by asking about how I was and breaking the ice with Super Bowl small talk. He asked why I thought I was disabled and I went on to explain. He sincerely viewed all the medical evidence that my lawyers turned in prior to the hearing And asked me questions about my various Dr. visits. There was some evidence and things I said, however, that did make him have some doubts about the validity of my claim. In the end he gave Me sufficient opportunity to explain myself and he took my sincerity into serious consideration in regards to making his final decision. He apologized for upsetting me emotionally and thanked me for "fighting for myself". Things look very good. He's a good and fair judge.

Judge: Mary E Helmer

Judge: Edward S Zanaty

This judge seems to be very incompetent, he cant properly handle cases and shouldn't be a judge he isn't concerned with the well being of anyone ,he states his philosophy more then the law, something needs to be done he take advantages of disabled people ,anyone who has had there case denied by him should immediately file for appeal

Judge: Kenneth Wilson

Fair, Objective, and Thorough.

Judge: Lisa M Johnson
9/16/2013 6:47:52 PM

I had my hearing today with Judge Lisa Johnson. She was tough and very straight to the point! Asked me about my medical conditions and what prevents me from working and then asked the VE if there were any jobs I could do and he said no! Judge Lisa Johnson ruled on the record that I was approved! My advice is to be honest and listen very carefully to her questions she speaks fast, but if you pay attention you will do fine! It's been 2 yrs fighting for this and it was a relief to get a decision the same day on the record! I was a Legal Assistant so this being a desk job already I couldn't stand up at any jobs! Prayer works!

Judge: E. R Hoover
5/7/2013 9:59:14 AM

I had my hearing with Judge Hoover today. Judge Hoover was very fair, listened to what I had to say. He was very direct with his questions and very considerate with his responses. I feel like Judge Hoover had reviewed my case and information and he handled this hearing in a very professional and respectful way.

Judge: Michael L Brownfield
4/19/2013 4:08:03 PM

Judge Brownfield was a very fair abd very informed judge. He knew what was going on with me. He had read my long file from front to back and I feel that he was fair in his decision making either way.

Judge: Windell R Owens
3/28/2013 2:32:43 PM

I've had one hearing with this ALJ. He was very professional, calm, and gave claimant a very fair and complete hearing. His award rate has come down a bit over the last year. He will ask some general background questions and then will give you specific direction on how he wants the medical testimony developed. He asks a full range of hypotheticals. He ended up denying this claim for lack of supportive medical but it was still a very fair hearing and a well reasoned decision.

Went before the judge today. he seemed fair and respectful lawyers do very little for what they maket don't think if you hire a TV lawyer that they will be the who you get they send a young flunky lawyer that you don't meet until 10 min before court

Judge: George W Merchant
3/12/2013 6:09:51 PM

Judge: Lisa M Johnson
2/21/2013 1:39:17 PM

Unfeeling and cold. Watch out! More worried about getting finished with hearing than making a just decision.

2/20/2013 8:14:17 AM

This judge is cold-hearted and has no empathy for mental illness claimants. He not only called three psychiatrist and a social security psychologist, two primary doctors liars but me as well. His problem is since he can't see the illness physically then you can work. I believe he wants me to go out in the workplace and have one of my mental breakdowns whereby I hurt someone or vice-versa for him to see that a person that suffers with bipolar I & II are very moody people who can't always control themselves. I also suffer with manic depression, PSTD, social anxiety, anxiety, claustophic, panic attacks, OCD, high blood pressure, asthma, bronchitis, heart disease, etc. I am a 50 year old black female who has worked 30 years of her life always giving and caring for others. I have attempted suicide twice because I am my wits end. It took almost 4 years for this unfair system to tell me no I don't qualify for sdi in which I paid into the system. I guess, I will have to prove to this ### and the rest of them that I refuse to let others come here and live off of me when they never worked a day in this country.

Judge: George W Merchant
2/18/2013 2:32:07 PM

wow, This Judge will look for any excuse to dismiss or deny a case! Very Lame ones indeed! I know many disabled folk that are dependent on professional trained pets to assist them to function. This Judge dismissed my niece's case that suffers from M.E. because she and her husband has a Lab that is older very docile, this dog helps her severe depression! He mentioned in the Denial letter because she cares for this pet she should be able to work..HOW Insulting! praying for this Judge to have a more caring and empathetic heart while he practices in Alabama~

Judge: Lawrence Levey
2/13/2013 8:33:57 AM

judge levey was informal and made me feel comfortable i hope and pray hes decision is in my favor it was by video my attorney ask most of the question and the judge was very fair and respectful to me and my wife all judges need to take a page from his book 2/12 2013

Judge: George W Merchant
2/3/2013 8:32:55 PM

I agree whole heartedly with the comment that this judge is heartless and disconcerned for the well-being of the claiments. Percentages on this site do not lie. Obviously he only approves less than a quarter of all cases. So if you experience a unfavorable decision from this judge, despite being dishearten with the system, you are not alone! His statistics seem quite unbalanced coupled with a whim of something smelly~ Try to find out before hand who your judge may be before hand because your chances of winning is very slim. In addition if you appeal to council or start all over, its within your rights to request another judge~ God Bless

Judge: George W Merchant
2/3/2013 3:05:28 PM

As a person has been in this business for years, I felt obligated to note that I disagree with the poster below who referred to Judge Merchant in such a disrespectful manner. Yes, he reads the whole record- to include the treatment notes. He does confront the claimants; however, he is very compassionate and respectful to all who come into his hearing room. For future claimants, be wary of what you read on sites like these. Listen to your representative and be truthful.

Judge: George W Merchant
2/2/2013 6:38:32 PM

Twisting evidence, Minimizing the seriousness of the claiments the extent of "Poking fun of them", humiliating a person in the determination letter by outright ignoring significant medical details rather highlighting all the non Important information.

Judge: George W Merchant
1/17/2013 10:47:16 PM

ALJ Merchant is clearly knowledgeable of the SSA statutes and assertive in his hearings. On the conservative side for dispositions, but his decisions do not tend to be unreasonable.

12/15/2012 6:01:21 AM

well i found out what the problem was with my disability my selection of ostrander as my doctor and bennett to replace her was where i went wrong. I have linear fractures and bone missing in my left shoulder and lower back but several local judges seem to be property owners at the company i worked for ostrander one of them. I simply had to leave this county and get medical treatment to come up with proof.

Judge: Lawrence Levey
11/26/2012 6:58:01 PM

The experience that I had with Judge Lawrence Levey was that it was the first time I have ever dealt with a government employee who was humane and respectful. He asked tough questions, but I felt that he was fair.

Judge: Windell R Owens
10/1/2012 6:08:57 PM

Very nice, took my conditions and feelings serious. Used all my Doctor's reports instead of ce exam report. Made me feel relaxed and at ease. VE at hearing was also considerate.

8/1/2012 10:13:47 AM

although judge edison wasnt my judge I understand your frustration my hearing was june 20th and I havent recieved a decision letter in the mail yet. My conditions is left leg ampuation, psoriatic arthritis, and post tramatic stress syndrome. now if that doesnt qualify as disabled after i worked many years in the workforce then what would? I often think the same thing you guys do. what does it take to get approved roll in there on a hospital bed or a wheelchair. however my judge was extremely nice and seemed interested in my case but the low approval rates they have speak for themselves

7/30/2012 4:53:14 PM

This ALJ barely even looked at me during my hearing (June 2012) and never reviewed any medical findings after July 2011, which confirm my diagnosis. Also he basically said I was a liar and therefore denied me any disability benifits at all. I am on 19 prescribed medications, I can barely function while taken them, they have impaired my thinking skills. I also have hyper somnia, means I sleep for hours at any given time of day, but somehow that evidence was not in his report. If I was pushed in to the hearing in a wheel chair with drool hanging from my mouth, maybe he would believe me. But since I am an upbeat person ( to hide all the crap on the inside)he sees me as functional. I have good days and I have bad days , some days I have no pain and other days all I have is pain. I'm a mixed bag-who in their right mind would hire a person like myself? I can't sit or stand for too long, i can only do minimal light non-thinkinh kind of work, I will fall asleep on the job, I will forget the task I've been given and wander the office. I would get fired within a week, that or get that special baseball helmet for my head. this man infuriates me

i am still waiting the results of my hearing with judge martin i think he was very nice and made me feel as if he was listening to everything i had to say and taking it into consideration he seemed interested and caring and no matter how my case turns out and what decision i get i will still have respect for him because he was listening and he has a job to do that has to be very difficult to see who is actually disabled or just trying to collect so i will had it to him they do what they think is best and if denied and you are truly disabled i encourage you to take it that extra step i do not think the judges are looking at anyone and acting as if they are lying under oath but just simply trying to find weather the conditions meet the ssa codes good luck to everyone and very much luck for those who truly need it!!!

Judge: George W Merchant

6/17/2012 1:04:21 AM

this judge had one of the highest approval ratings a few months ago now one of the lowest. I think if you had a case denied by him lately you should file an appeal.HE IS NOT BEING FAIR.He is making a lot of errors on his cases and I PERSONALLY think he is in fear of his job .He denied cases in record time ,wrong statements ,times and dates. He is very slick and will lead you on in your hearing to hang yourself. I work hard all my life and payed into the ssa but alot of ssi people are approved by him. I think this judge is showing early signs of dementia and should not be handling any cases now.

fauded my case....didnt even do what the appeals council told her to do about my depression that it may have worsend after the evailuation of dr. kennon ,phd and dr.frankie stanley.a pychiatist has be treating me since december of 2010 and she didnt belive what he said about my diagnoses for major depression, recurrent she sent me to a consecutive examination and dr.harod savell diagnosed me with major depressive disorder with psycotic features and both doctors said that i am very disabled..what is right with this county....i have nothing and no money and no insurence i guess they just want us to die off with our sickness....... this judge showed me no justice and wrongfully denied me.

Judge: Lisa M Johnson
6/7/2012 7:23:33 PM

Not a good judge.

Judge: George W Merchant
5/31/2012 4:46:50 AM

This judge is nonetheless heartless and disconcerned of the well-being of Alabama's disabled citizens.Obviously he gets his income and doesnt think of what clients he presides over need to survive on a daily basis. He did not look at the basic facts of my trial and after waiting for 18 months with no income and the inability to work my case was denied. Being someone with a life-threatening illness I could have filed for another appeal but that would have put me waiting at least another 18 months before it would proceed to the appeals court. Instead I decided to reapply hoping that the seriousness of my disablities would be re-evaluated by someone with a little more understanding of what it is to want to do better for yourself when you cant.

Judge: David L Stephens
4/30/2012 8:15:31 PM

Judge Stephens is very thorough, extremely knowledgeable about the facts and the law, even tempered, and fair.

Judge: Lawrence Levey
4/24/2012 8:21:30 PM

Judge Levey's hearings are informal and designed to create a comfortable and non-threatening environment for claimants and representatives. He is very well acquainted with the case records, and views critically claimant attempts at lying and distortion. Attorneys and reps should be well prepared to present their cases, as this judge generally expects them to conduct the bulk of the questioning. Judge Levey's decisions are generally well written and fair.

Judge: Ronald Reeves
4/5/2012 5:06:21 PM

no stars intimidating acts like your a criminal for being disabled very unprofessionL did not even give me (CLAiment) the opportunity to express my disabilities was very ugly and mean to me and my representative. did not want to here how medications affected my work ability(s). HE said should have been included in restrictions by doctors report. medicine affects people diferent and the cautions are on the bottle. However, i wa not given the opportunity to tell how they affected me. i was never asked how my pain and other conditions affected my dAILY LIVING. ( which is tremendous) no work history or what i thought I may be able to do was discussed. (other than brief assumptions) Restrictions and limittations were asked of me,even though they should all have been shown in fCE and medical records. I do not know what the Drs. said I only know whAT I can and can't do. THIS judge has some anger issues or other problems ....... maybe he should apply for disability because he is not fairly and rightiously doing his job.....There are problems concerning this judge and his job duties and dealing with people 4/05/2012
