I don't under stand how these people come up with there decisions or what there looking for.They must flip a coin. nice enough judge, but his skills as a judge are definitely in question.

Judge Hixon took her time with my case she could tell I was very nervous and was having trouble talking. She did not rush me I felt she heard my side of the case. She asked pertinent questions and allowed me to answer as best I could. I am still awaiting a decision but whatever it is I am confident that Judge Hixon considered my testimony

This woman is a terrible judge. She made a mockery of my case and took everything out of context to suit her agenda. She ignored important evidence, and was rude and short with me. Wow I called the phone number today to find out if my SSI has been approved I had I had no idea what the outcome is going to be I had heard a lot of things about this judge but I found her to be very pleasant very businesslike a very sweet actually they said that I had them favorable outcomes so I'm waiting on my letter to see how much and when and all the above it's took me 8 years 8 years to get this to go through so I actually love this judge she was really good for my case so keep your head up people it is what it is good luck

I saw this judge for my hearing, I found her to be distracted. After working physical labor for 20 years I haven't worked in 4 years, I have physical and mental disabilities according to everyone but her, it's a shame that my families life is held in the hand of a woman Who is a stranger, her decision determines if I can pay my bills or continue to struggle, and yes , she turned me down, so I hold her personally responsible for the further downfall of my family, I wish there was a way to have bad judges removed or fired, If I die before she leaves the bench she should have to pay for my funeral!

This is my second post about this judge. To this day I cry a few times a week thinking about how much I needed to get approved. I have depression, bipolar, suffer from debilitating headaches at least three times a week. My whole life I haven’t been able to hold a job for very long because I would have to go home sick or call in. I’m so extremely sensitive and I don’t like to be around too many people. There is more but too long to list. I don’t know how they come up with “jobs” they think I can do. How the **** do they know that? They don’t know me. I know I can “do” some jobs but it’s keeping them that’s the problem. I try looking online for something but I get severe anxiety attacks when I think about even applying. My whole life I’ve had this and have been hospitalized for it. SHE looked right over that. I can’t reapply because it’s been too long and ssd only goes back ten years which they wasted four of those. I also got a lawyer online which didn’t help me but it’s too late. No hope left for me. I cannot see a light at the end of the tunnel. ZERO STARS. Very very very depressing:(

Seems my review wasn't put on here. My husband was told by a doctor he is not able to work and my husband has several chronic problems he has COPD with a 50% lung compasity which he has to do breathing treatments throughout the day and he does the brio puffer everyday. He also has Ademia he has had 2 open heart surgeries and he was in an accident that left him crippled broke both legs he has a pin in his right hip that is the size of a railroad spike also he has a rod from his hip to his right knee with screws holding his knee together he also has a plate in his left ankle with screws holding it in and he has a screw in the talos of his left foot. His left foot swells constantly which causes him to have to prop it up several times a day and ice it just to be able to walk and the swelling never goes all the way down he walks with a Cain because he has no balance anymore he desperately needs surgery on his left foot again but with him but having any kind of insurance he is forced to live with it and he also has high blood pressure and high cholesterol and severe depression my husband is NOT able to work he has not been able to in years the Judges decision should be looked at again and my husbands conditions and medical records should be takin into consideration again. If he reads this I Pray he finds in his heart to reconsider we are sending an appeal and we are at a loss as what to do if he doesn't help I can see my husband dying because we just could not afford to get medical help. I am the only one with an income and I am 100% disabled this has been so hard on me and him both I can see how depressed he has become again and it has me worried because he is not able to get the proper medical help and he is NOT able to work. Please please please Judge Frazier if you read this I Pray you will reconsider my husbands case he has had a long hard road and he has come a long way but you ultimately hold his life in your hands all of his back pay and his medical help please reconsider my husbands decision we really need help I'm desperately begging you to hear us out one more time. She seemed to genuinely listen to me. I was so nervous I kept drawing blanks. Eventually she just let my lawyer question me, which put me a bit more at ease. She only asked the vocational expert 2 questions and the ve said no available jobs both times, so I'm hopeful. It was overall an okay experience considering how stressful the situation is.

I recently had a hearing and got my unfavorable decision from this person, my personal opinion of her is bad. I agree with some other post about her being a bad judge, there's no possible way anyone could find my case unfavorable with all the medical evidence and doctors notes, and my diagnosis and medicine I'm taking, this whole system is rigged, I don't think she took my medical diagnosis and Doctor notes serious, who does she think she is to dispute my medical reports and diagnosis, she is not qualified to do that. I know she needs to keep her biased opinions of me to herself and start ruling on evidence alone. It was just time for a turndown on someone I was that person. She isn't competent enough to work at McDonald's.

I guarantee of all the law judges she would be the only one to find my case unfavorable,she must have had headphones in when the vocational witness was talking, I think she is not competent to be a judge sh needs to turn in her resignation, she doesn't pay any attention to medical facts or medical findings by doctors and psychs, who is she to refute what the doctor reports state, she needs to follow the medical evidence, and not her biased opinion, any judge that keeps a certain percentage of approval rating close to the same all the time is only deciding cases to keep their numbers of percentage the same. I have worked harder in six months than she has her whole life , and for her to find me unfavorable that is disgraceful.

She should be removed as a judge, she is not competent, she is biased and it shows, her record speaks for itself she constantly hovers around 40 percent approval rating, and if any judge is fair and is doing their job right their approval rating would go from 5 perCent approval to 95 percent approval. I think she woke up mad and she takes it out on people. She thinks I can work, so I think she should be forced to give her job to me. The sad part is her mind was made up before the hearing began, you can tell by her numbers

I had a video hearing with Judge Sheppard on August 10, 2018. I received an unfavorable decision this week. After reading the findings, I am beyond confused. My disabilities are Rheumatoid Arthritis, anxiety and other conditions. I never stated some of the things that are listed in the decision. I never said that I teach Sunday school or do tai chi. I also don’t understand why little to no weight was given to the very doctors the administration sent me to, to be examined. I don’t go see my general physician except for my scheduled bloodwork or if I am sick with a cold or flu. I don’t go to the dr every time I feel bad or I would be there constantly. I am on the maximum doses of some of my meds. My anxiety affects me everyday. I cannot handle crowds, simple trips to the store or make simple decisions. I can’t handle any financial matters due to my anxiety and forgetfulness. I see a rheumatologist for my rheumatoid arthritis that hit me like a ton of bricks in the spring of 2015. I have deformities in both hands, mostly my left. I have various arthritis nodules on my body. Judge Sheppard made it clear at the hearing that he was not interested in seeing my deformities. Despite my treatment, I am in pain every day. I never know what will be hurting each day. I don’t complain to my doctors about pain because I am being treated with the required meds. I don’t talk to my rheumatologist about the side effects of the methotrexate, nabumetone anti-inflammatory and enbrel injections, which are cramping, diarrhea, nausea, brain fog and headaches, because the alternative is worse. I spoke with my dr early on about this and whether he mentioned it in my records or not, I don’t know, but he said he had never seen RA hit someone so hard, so quickly. He said the benefits of the meds outweigh the risks. There are so many more discrepancies and inconsistencies in the denial. Judge Sheppard seemed detached, uninterested in my hearing. He referred to the vocational expert in the denial as a she when he is a male. He also reversed what the vocational expert stated. I worked 27.5 years for state government, not to mention the work history I had before. I moonlighted for 2.5 years working 7-10 five days a week to get my children through college. I am not a lazy person, looking for a handout. I would still be working if I were able. It was devastating for me to apply for disability and have to admit that I cannot do the things I once did. I worked as long as I could, in the pain I was in. I could no longer concentrate, perform my duties or remember the policy I had known for years. Needless to say, I am very upset and disillusioned by this whole process. I have been made to feel as if I don’t matter and that my illnesses are unimportant. I understand that the administration deals with fraud constantly but if this or anything else, makes Judge Sheppard doubt everyone, then he is definitely doing a disservice to the public he is paid to serve. I have appealed with the Appeals Council but have no hope for the outcome I need. I accidentally “hit” one of the stars in the rating and don’t know how to undo it. In my case, he deserves no stars as he treated me with such disrespect. I do hope when Judge Sheppard is in need of anything, people listen to him and treat him better than he treated me.

Incredibly detailed judge who reviewed every facet of my case and the detailed court records were amazing, reflecting a deep medical understanding of my case that I would have only expected from an MD, so she understood the key points of my records to an astonishing level of detail. Very fair judge and exceptionally thorough. Unfortunately I won my case, and I'm very sad to have lost my career and all my work friends. I'd give it up in a heartbeat if I could be made well, but it just doesn't seem in the cards, despite so many major surgeries I've lost count. As long as you have objective evidence clearly indicated in your medical records and have done your best to work and be made well, you will get a very fair hearing. Social security disability has a much higher standard than normal private disability so learn the differences before your case. Also, make sure you hire a good reputable attorney because they are worth the fee. Judge Green is one of the best at what she does, and if you have done your homework and tried your best and simply cannot work, and you meet the stringent social security disability standards, you'll not go wrong with this judge.

David a issacs denied my disability when I have MRI and 7 yrs of bloodwork for ra and spinal stenosis there is no way these conditions will get better they can be managed but I will have them the rest of my life and will never be pain free if i am honest and put on job applications my illness 5here is no way id be hired for any job my lawyer made it very clear he didn not like her and told me she would deny it i cant help but think she didn't like him and that's why I was denied she was very unfair and didnt go by evidence

Went to a hearing in February of this year for my 9 year old daughter. She had ADHD currently taking medication which is considered a narcotic. Dyslexia (currently in a class for kids with dyslexia) and a learning disability she has an IEP and has been place in special education ( special ED) state testing shows she's below her age level. Her reading level is on a kindergarten level she's in the 3rd grade , and math skills are very weak as well after already having to redo the kindergarten. Her teacher state she has made some improvement but still far behind her peers. I found out on the 15th of July her case was closed and it was ruled unfavorable wow and I haven't received a letter in the mail. Not sure how this decision was made but in my opinion it was the wrong decision. Clearly these disabilities has and will continue to affect her, not sure what the judge was thinking.

When I left my hearing everything went great. Vocational said I could not do any other job. I suffer from fibromyalgia and depression and irritable bowel . Judge Crocker denied my husbands disability. My husband cant walk, sit, sleep and he is in pain most every waking hour! He has reports from 2 doctors that give him a maximum of lifting 10 pounds! My husband has ALWAYS been a hard working man and all his hard work proved was showing that he is a fighter and it got him denied! He has had numerous surgeries and has spondylolisthesis, carpal tunnel in both hands, diverticulitis, crohn's disease, he has to walk on a cane due to sudden weakness in his legs and at times I even have to wipe his behind ! Yet he was denied! What the heck is wrong with these judges! I'm willing to bet if he had gone before the judge and NEVER worked he would have been approved! I don't know how we are expected to survive, we have paid into the system from the time we were 18 and now he is 49 and I am 50, and the stress from worrying about the bills have taken their toll. I work full time but we all know it takes 2 incomes! He isn't asking for a handout he is has worked his entire life and paid into the system! I know this judge is new but good grief show some compassion! During the hearing you guys couldn't even find a job that he could do!

I have done disability battle with this judge for 7 straight years now. I was denied by her in 2011. I appealed and won the appeal by being remanded back in front of in 2014. She denied me again in 2014 and I appealed again and won my appeal. But on a second remand you are assigned to a different judge. I know it is proper to respect a judfes decision but in both of her written decisions her denial bordered on a personal attack. All this and I can't even hardly walk. This judge does not follow the law or pay much attention to medical evidence. I feel sorry for anyone who has to go in front of her. Fortunately her denials are often successfully appealed so don't lose hope.

I am yet another person who was turned down for disability. I have and took to the court a stack od medical files 6 inches think. I have neuropathy in both feet from 4 foot surgeries,fibromayalga, auto-immune hepatitis that I will have for the rest of my life,and have to take medication for it.I have been depressed for a few years now since I was diagnosed with the auto immune this disease has bitterly stolen my life.I have oseoarthrits in both feet and in both knees I have to have 2 knee replacement in april. I have Chronic liver disease for the rest of my life through no fault of my own. I don't drink or smoke.Yhis judge was very unsympathetic to my disability I looked at the numbers of cases that he approves/disaproves and they are higher in huntington wv than any where else the minute he asked me if I went to church,and I said no ,I had a gut feeling he would deny it and I told my lawyer when we walked out of the hearing. I am an american citizen. I have worked all my life raised 3 children on my own, Each of my children are college graduates and contributors to society. I f this was your money that you paid to SS all your life and you become disabled through no fault of your own,and you had a passel of Drs. reports to back you up how would you feel,someone need to check on HIM.

I do not understand how this man is allowed to mess with peoples lives. He is not fare and he is very rude. I have so many doctors stating that I can't work and in his mind he says I can.. He said that I can do things when my doctors say I can't. How dare anyone have this man still have a job!! Social Security should see how this man really is. Go sit in on a hearing Social Security and you will see how people are getting screwed over by him. I was actually terrified when I heard I had this judge. I had read all the negative comments and it made me think I was royally screwed. However, that was not the case. It took eight months but she approved my full disability with back pay! Actually she did it just in time for Christmas. So my new year will definitely be looking up. I appeared before Judge Lowther and I had a very positive experience. She was kind and attentive. I answered all her questions briefly yet honestly. I was quite impressed with her knowledge of my case, she does her homework before the hearing. I want to express to those who are struggling in this process how important it is to have substantial medical documentation that supports your claim. Get copies of your medical records, go to the doctor frequently, don't stop advocating for yourself!!The burden of proving your disability is on you, it's not just what you say, it's what your evidence can prove. I worked day and night getting every piece of paper I could to prove my claim. I even had notarized statements from caregivers, previous employers, family, friends and most importantly a current letter from my treating physician stating the severity of my illnesses. I worked in conjunction with my attorney (whom had not defended a disability case before). I just didn't stop going to the doctor!!! Medicaid paid for my doctor visits, surgeries, and medications because I had no income. I was very nervous going into the hearing, that's a normal response. I just kept calm, concentrated on what the judge asked me and I was honest. I knew everything I said to her could be corroborated by my medical evidence. Keep your head up and don't stop advocating for yourself!

I thought Judge Sheppard was understanding the facts in my case. Being that the Lady thAt was sitting there with him clearly told him and myself and my Lawyer that I clearly couldn't find or possibly get a job doing anything out here in Kentucky with my disability's. And they keep saying because of my age and work experience I can find a job. But that's not it. The allowance rate on the initial claim is 30 % and less than 5% on the Reconsideration but the allowance rate with the Judges is 44% so your best chance is with the ALJ. The key to getting approved is be prepared. You need a Rep that is interested in your case and SSA is not just a sideline. You and YOUR Rep need to Know the requirements for entitlement : the decision is based on age, education, vocational background and your DISABILITY. The judges in the Tupelo office are good judges I have always found Judge Sartor to be respectfully to me and the Claimant. She, as well as the other Judges, will try to give you the benefit of doubt but they cannot approve your disability if you do not have medical evidence to support YOUR Case- SSA will tell you that you must prove that you are disabled. No i have not won all my cases with her or the others but when the Hearing was over I knew and the Claimant knew that the decision would be fair and based on the evidence. This is the best shot at approval that you got so get a GOOD REP and be prepared.

Judge Fraiser is not a very nice person. I was struck by a car while walking. I suffered severe injuries to my body, head, spine, leg and arm/shoulder. Judge Fraiser suggested I could work as a parking lot attendent! When I tried to remind him that we had discussed the PTSD I have, and real fear I still have of moving cars around me, he told me to SHUSH! I was denied! I have written a complaint and refiled. A PARKING GARAGE? Is that some kind of sick joke?

I really feel as if this Judge should be investigated. There is no way a ALJ should have statistics that read 1,842 cases, 1,550 decesions, 1,116 denials, and 434 approved. For the Fisical year as of 05/19/16, this judge has a 20% approval rating, and 63% Denied, 17% dismissed. Numbers don't lie. Due to incurable illness and you are in a wheelchair, receiving home health 3- 5 days a week, a service dog for PTSD, can't grip or hold items well anymore, but I was given unfavorable decision..especially when there is more than enough evidence to support it. Not being able to work for almost 3 yrs, and yet you still are given an Unfavorable Decision..Seriously?? Than your lawyer calls to ask if you want to appeal or start over...You should not have to fight so hard to get disabiltiy if you truly are deserving of it, and especially when you worked the last 25 yrs previous to your diagnosis. This is ridiculous!!

I went to court Dec. 4, 2015 and I haven't been able to work going on 3 years. It is extremely hard to function day to day without income. I'm on my way to being homeless because the bills are getting high and no money to help pay them. I live with my brother and he cant afford to take care of his household and myself..unfair for him and anyone else whom I lived with. Waiting for a judge to decide my fate is very hectic..and if my body could take on everyday work I would be working..but I just can't do it.

ALJ McGrath went above and beyond recently, and by his efforts, allowed my client her hearing when there had been a serious miscommunication regarding my client's file (it had been sent to another hearing office by mistake, and the hearing cancelled - all without notice to myself or my client). Another ALJ might have shrugged their shoulders and said nothing could be done, so sorry; ALJ McGrath instead tracked the file down, had it sent back to North, and worked the hearing into his already scheduled docket. While we are still awaiting results, we are grateful to have been able to conduct the hearing as we had planned, especially since my client traveled from TN to Athens for the hearing. I feel my life had hope but now its as good as over. I worked all my life in heavy construction laying watering since I was 14yrs old threw summer school breaks and then after high school worked full time for the same company 15yrs. Ive been completely unable to work for the past 4yrs due to many health issues that have completly broken me down. I have ashama, depression, axienty, hepC and was diagnocted with type 1 diabetes 4yrs ago and shattered my hip socket completely out. My leg is now supported by a metal plate and screws. My leg is shorter now and I cant support my own body weight with out pain. I walk with a walking stick now just to go to the bathroom. I live with my mother because I have no income to survive or just get by. I was denied benefits by Vinnie K. Today after 4yrs trying to get someone to honestly look at me and reward me and help me. Now I don't know what I'm going to do. Do I live with and burden my mother for the rest of mine or her life? I am a father of 4 children all under 13. I'm never going to be able to do anything for them in their life's. That alone has me in tears at the moment. I'd do anything to have my health back and go back to work. I can go without mostly everything in life, but having to watch my kids do without and not being able to help them is a nightmare to me. I've already lived 4yrs like this praying to god that someone would do their job and take the honest time needed to see how disabled I am. All this judge paid any attention to was my crimanal back ground. My mistakes in my past. That overided my dissabilitys. I was asked in the court hearing more questions about that then my own medical records and health issues. I don't get it. Bonnie's is without a doubt coldhearted and did me honestly wring here. If anyone deserves to be awarded benifets it doesn't matter! If she doesn't like you then you are not going to be rewarded dissabled or not! I pray god helps her! Please pray for me Thank you

My hearing was September 28th. My case was left open and now scared it will take a long time to hear a decision. Judge Hixson was very nice but my council was not good. She didn't submit records I told them about and they blamed me. I hope judge Hixson will see through a lot of that. She seemed very caring and aloud me to speak, however my anxiety was so bad I didn't tell her everything I needed to about my pain and how severe my depression is. I was way too nervous. I think the judge saw I worked my whole life and couldn't believe I was in disability court.

Wow! I thought she was a very good judge in the courtroom, I felt that I was heard and the questioning was very thorough to get an idea of why I have had to apply for disablity, until I got my decision...she took my testimony and only used parts of it or used it incorrectly to say that I was not credible! The hearing is audio taped, how can a judge not correctly document your testimony? How can they use parts of it and put it wherever they want to say you are not credible? It looks like she focused on one aspect and then 'cherry picked' through the testimony to find a way to discredit me and justify her decision. Not one mention of anything that was testified to of my daily pain and pain when trying to do household chores and the fact that I stated that my children and husband take the brunt of everything...she simply stated that I testified that I do all this, plus much more! She also discredited me for the fact that I had no choice but to drive myself to the hearing, without stating the reason that I explained and how I felt because of the drive and walk to the office. These are just a few things!

Even after winning appeal council for new trial this judge still refused to consider my Drs opinion. And appeal council said my dr should be considered. If anything it angered him, and he flat said it would have to be revisited. So going on 5 years already reached retirement age still waiting on my second appeal. This judge was rude and not comprehending the paperwork. My question why is there appeal council if a judge can ignore their ruling!

I am waiting for a decision. I was born with asthma and have struggled with it all my short life. I've worked as a CNA mostly and due to that Ive done something to my right side neck, shoulder, arm and lower back because it hurts and spasms constantly. I wear a back brace now and get PT regularly. I also have mental problems and stomach problems that can cause an embarrassing scene. My asthma has gotten worse over the past 4 years, my mind is definitely not as sharp as it was. I have problems concentrating, remembering, counting, paying attention just to name a few. I wheeze constantly, need my rescue meds more often, and I am more limited in what I do. Strong smells, even food, cause me to wheeze. I'm so weak after a BM that I can't get up from the toilet sometimes. Then once I do I need to rest for at least 20 mins. If I don't get to the toilet in time I have no control, How embarrassing! I don't line being in crowds or around a lot of people due to a childhood incident, and I also don't drive. I take medicine for anxiety, depression, migraine/anti seizure, pain, high blood pressure, asthma and heartburn/GERD. I haven't worked since Jan 2012. There was a rep at my hearing Roman office. I can't remember exactly. Vocational I think. She did say something about me not being employee in a competitive job market because of my ailments and the amount of time is miss work caring for flare UPS and exacerbations. Not sure of het exact words. I just hope that the judge will remember those words and knows that not everyone is looking for some lazy way out. I've honestly tried to work. Been laid off many times or just had to quit for not being able to handle the workload or surroundings. If I could be working I'd be doing it. I loved being a CNA. I miss it so much.

Good luck if you receive this judge. As a health professional it was obvious that he had poor grasp of my diagnosis. He does appear to be demente as well. His short term memory was very poor and listening skills were non existent. In his denial letter he made several mistakes due to his poor attitude and inability to continue to do his job. It is a shame that people like myself have to be treated with such condescension by a 72 year old man who has no business practicing any longer. I can't even give him one star as he needs disability himself. It is a shame that honest citizens have no recourse against such an inept "judge"

I do not know this judge, but to answer your question:  to whom can you report a judge's "awful" behavior,  contact the American Bar Association or that of your state.  Also, a simple search online will give you the names  and contact information of various ethics' review boards.  Judges, even though most have tenure or are appointed for life, are expected to abide by certain rules  of conduct and ethics.  Besides "knowing the law and courtroom procedure", these judges are also expected to conduct themselves and their "court" in such a way that their attitudes and tones reflect the seriousness and "judicial-minded ness" of their responsibilities. (They are also expected to write and communicate clearly and concisely.).     Know this: A tenured judge CAN be disciplined and even removed from his or her position, although several reports may have to be made and his or her behavior may have to be flagrantly rude, bizarre, extremely dismissive of his or her claimants' rights,  etc.  Also, judges must not be biased against any race or sex, etc.; must not hint that they are.  There are other ethical rules they must adhere to, and legal ones as well.  (Ignoring or not being familiar with medical records upon issuing a ruling ---not good).  If all else fails, contact the media.   Local and state news channels/papers have investigative reporters who will be happy to look into what is going on for you if you feel certain you have been mistreated, were not given a fair and impartial hearing, you were yelled at or treated in an unethical way, etc.  (Most hearings are recorded; get a copy of the tape.)  These judges' positions are coveted, so there is always a younger, better qualified, less cynical and irritable judge willing to take the older judges' places.  Im sure SSA would love to hire these younger judges at lower wages, especially if some older judge is behaving in ways that embarrass the SSA in the media.  However, if you are just mad at a judge because you didn't get what you expected, look out.  You could be sued for libel at the very least.  Remember, most judges are doing the best they can in a system that is cracking under the weight of so many people who are now claiming disability.  At the end of a long day of listening to everyone's stories, you might be tired and a little grouchy too.     But if you have a legitimate complaint, remember too, some of these judges have private practices, so you can go to a webpage and leave a review so that others are forewarned.    And know this, if an SSA judge is labeled as HORRIBLE to deal with by a few lawyers, well,  lawyers share information formally and informally, and eventually, there will be negative repercussions for the judge.

Hello all. I'm new here, but been lurking for months. What in the world is going on with the SSA?? I've been denied at all levels. Applied October 2012- denied Appealed June 2014- denied ALJ Hearing Someone needs to tell this man to take a bow and step down. I seriously believe he's got dementia. He forgets questions he's already asked and asks them over again. I don't  believe this is a tactic to make sure you're giving the same answer every time to weed out the system abusers, but believe it's his mind wilting away. He must be pushing 100 years old and bears a strong resemblance to The Crypt Keeper. We sat there for minutes listening to him stumble over his words to find the right word. He obviously didn't thoroughly read  over medical records, or maybe didn't remember that he had. He was on the spot trying to sift through medical documents. He kept asking if i enjoyed kroger and asked multiple times if I liked my dog. He kept referring to my doctor as my friend, referring to my son as my aunt, referring to my aunt as my grandfather...I didn't know what the heck he was talking about. Here's an example of his hypothetical to the vocational expert: "Due to the...uh...due...the claimant's....uh, if someone...uh...uh...due...uh...to the same impairments...uh...hmm...uh...same impairments...uh...could, could...uh...someone...uh...find...uh, find, uh...gainful work?" What the what?? Ridiculous. Hearing took over two hours due to his scrambling for words. DENIED with 7 years worth of medical records and hospitalizations simply for the fact that I care for my son with out help. I met all disability criteria to deem me disabled, but denied because I'm able to drive my son to school and cook him simple meals. Who else is supposed to do it? Most of my family are dead, including both of my parents who were murdered. I've got enough stress and trauma not to have to be put through this social security circus. I've paid thousands of dollars to FICA, but oh, well. It's time for this dementia-stricken, biased, 100 year old man to hang up the robe and go relax in his luxurious house paid for by tax money, While I'm camping out in my aunt's spare bedroom because I can't afford a place of my own after losing my house and belongings due to not being able to work. Just who are these 17% approvals? My guess is if you aren't rolled into the hearing in a coffin, you aren't gonna win with this one.

Judge Daniels is very professional and courteous, though somewhat reserved. He is extremely knowledgeable of the Social Security rules and procedures. He is always familiar with the claimant's file prior to the hearing. I have had the worst 4 years of my life with ongoing medical and mental problems,,i even have a friend typing this for me since i get all confused sometimes,,,i have lost everything i have from not being able to work and cry myself to sleep often when i think of what else i could loose..this judge has denied me SSI and made it sound like i was able to work a 8 hour shift with no problem,,,i have not worked now for 24 months and there is no way ill be able to,,,i have fibromyalgia, a slipped disc c-4 c-5,,l-4 l-5,,i have both rotator cuff tears,bursitis ,tendinitis,COPD,and yet when he sent me to one of their doctors in lexington they reported there was nothing wrong with my shoulders but yet 3 weeks later i was having surgery on my right one and told i needed the left one done as soon as posible,,i just found out last week i have full blown carpal-tunnel in both hands and nerve damage in my left arm..the doctor who did this rest said i needed to have my legs done as well for she thinks there could be a problem there as well. I hate to think i would have to draw a check for the rest of my life and not be able to live the life that i so much enjoyed,,,but to have him dismis me as though i was a liar goes toooo far...i wish this man could walk just one day in my shoes,,then he would see he was not at fair,,

When I first pulled this judge for my hearing I was not very hopeful given her approval statistics and the posted comments. That's why I wanted to come back and post my experience with this judge. I found her to be business like but approachable. I personally could not tell which way things were going to go from the hearing one way or the other. However, my lawyer was very confident. The findings letter was spot on what was said in the hearing and what was in my medical records. I found no inconsistency at all. I ended up with a fully favorable decision. I hope that gives a little hope to others that draw this judge.

The first Judge I saw over a year ago had a approved rating of over 20%. This judge Well.... 34. Denial at 46% and dismissal at 20%. Meaning- GOOD LUCK PAL. I will say this judge seems knowledgeable. However, I provided several pages of documents from the VA over 1400 pages- and I am RATED 100 % DISABLED BY THE VA VA disabled. YET- SOCIAL SECURITY finds I can work. And this judge seems to find the same thing. So heres my options. I can appeal. Well---- Guess what, this veteran is going to appeal. I have provided stacks and stacks of documents. I read what your feedback said- you discredited my doctors. REALLY? People that talked me out of suicide. You never once asked me what I do in a day. I saw something in my review about cooking cookies. I haven't cooked anything in over 9 months. I almost burned the house down on more than one occasion. And I don't feed my dogs. You never asked me what I do. I sit and stare at the floor. People that reviewed my file said I grocery shop- I have not done this in close to a year. I do not leave the home only once a week to go to a apnt with the doctor. You said you had no evidence to support the claim of migraines. Well- request it? I can provide it. Your people discredited doctors at the va and the vet center. People that have degrees and are professionals and only treat vets with ptsd, anxiety disorder, and tbi- when I saw these people I was never told "Oh by the way the social security administration does not recognize us as creditable doctors?" WELL WHO DO YOU ? I AM RATED 100% disabled through the VA disabled for gods sake. What more do you need? I was told I can appeal my decision. Or file a new one. Well guess what- I am appealing. Its going to the feds to decide. I believe you were wrong. What is sad, is now..... I have to wait another year to hear something. Shame on you. And shame on that last judge. I had a lawyer. I had a non disability case before judge Reynolds. The law involved was complicated outside his comfort zone. Nevertheless he tried. Very unprepared and unprofessional in his questioning, he only looks for clues to deny claims and ignores evidence that supports the claim and he cherry picks. His research of claim related information is incomplete and misleading. Makes things up in his decision that the claimant never said. This is a judge to avoid if you can, a disgrace for the judge profession community.

His "findings" regarding my case were absurd. He seemed to be looking at someone else's case completely when coming to his unfavorable decision. The impartial vocational expert even agreed that I should be on disability but he ignored her completely. I was informed by his assistant before even going into the courtroom that I was required to say "yes, sir" or "no, sir" when answering questions and that I was to keep my answers to his questions short. He didn't seem to be paying attention to my case at all and had his decision as soon as I walked into the room. I felt bullied and unheard.

Signed up since 8/26/2010. Both my rotator cups, both shoulders, neck and lower back.. GREAT PAINS. After a year and a month of wait from Rodger's denial, Appeals Council Action states, '' We considered whether the Administrative Law Judge's, Roger Reynolds, action, findings, or conclusion is contrary to the weight of evidence of record.'' '' Given the already very restricted residual functional capacity finding by the Administrative Law Judge, we found that this information does not provide a basis for changing the Administrative Law Judge's decision.'' Once lawyers that knows him finds out it's Roger Reynolds they will say that he approves no one and recommends to auto drop it and file a new claim but social security will not let you until this one is settled. That's why I had no lawyer on court day. That's bad when can't get a lawyer to represent one just cause they know he DENIES everyone.

my first claim was DENIED by this alj, even though he stated in his decision that i did in fact have two severe impairments.. of course the AC kept his ruling intact and my atty filed in federal court. well here it is 6 1/2 yrs from initial filing and 3 yrs after it was denied at appeals council and taken to fdc, my claim was remanded due to ERROR by the alj for NOT giving my treating doctors RFC any weight and going by what the ssa med examiner (which i never saw to begin with)said at some point before my initial denial (which only took a few months to get)..my hearing was NOT that quick, and also we waited for at least 15-20 minutes before hearing started as the VE was LATE. mind you judge started without the VE, and he finally arrived about 10 minutes before my hearing was over..he heard me answer the last 2 question is all. yet the judge took his opinion that there were thousands of jobs in the national economy within our region that i could do?? i am like the rest of you, i believe he has his mind made up before you go in the door...well, he messed up on this one and now i get a new hearing and hopefully with another judge

Our office has had numerous hearings with Judge McGrath. He has a reputation for scheduling several hearings at the same time and taking them on a first come/first served basis; will start early if you get there early; does NOT like submission of medical records on the day of the hearing. Generally does not ask for opening; lets rep do most of questioning and just cuts in when he has a question. I think he often has a good idea of how he feels about a case and uses the hearing to see if it changes his mind. His award rate is not out of line, so he's not denying everything that comes through the room. (Claimants need to understand it isn't the number of pages of records you have, but how well the opinions are supported by clinical evidence, diagnositic testing and your own credibility).

Based on our experience this ALJ used to be very friendly, easy going and had a much higher award rate. In the last couple of years he's become much tougher and has a very conservative award rate. He tends to like to work fast, asks rapid fire, pointed questions to claimant. Usually asks one hypo based on DDS and one assuming inability to do full time work. Does not usually ask for opening or closing and does most of questioning himself.

Judge Frederick McGrath claimed he could not read the RFC filled out by my doctor because "the doctor's handwriting was not completely legible and his signature was indistinguishable." There were approximately 30 cases he ruled on before he saw me the day of my hearing and it seemed like he had already made up his mind on each case before the people even entered the courtroom. He wrote about my mental health in his official ruling even though my claim was entirely a physical case with all of my mental health issues (depression because I am unable to work) being a direct result of my physical disability.

I was denied even though I have more than 4,000 pages of medical records, dozens of doctors supporting my claim and submitting written statements, and the court-appointed vocational expert testified that there was not a job I was suitable to do. Mcgrath ruled against this suggestion and said I could do a job that did not require standing, sitting, working with my hands, concentration, memory, interaction with people, and would allow me to lie down for extended periods of time each hour. I also require a caretaker (who is writing this message as I am unable to do so) on a fulltime basis to feed, cloth, bathe, drive, make appointments and manage my dr. schedule, clean, cook, and take care of basically all of my needs/activities of daily living. He made the decision in less than 5 minutes and asked me less than 10 quick questions. His decision was overturned on appeal and has been sent back to be heard in court for a second time. I first applied for disability in 1999 and have spent the last 6 years appealing his ruling. I am going back to court in the next 6 months or so and will let you know who I get and the judgement.

This judge is cold-hearted and has no empathy for mental illness claimants. He not only called three psychiatrist and a social security psychologist, two primary doctors liars but me as well. His problem is since he can't see the illness physically then you can work. I believe he wants me to go out in the workplace and have one of my mental breakdowns whereby I hurt someone or vice-versa for him to see that a person that suffers with bipolar I & II are very moody people who can't always control themselves. I also suffer with manic depression, PSTD, social anxiety, anxiety, claustophic, panic attacks, OCD, high blood pressure, asthma, bronchitis, heart disease,etc. I am a 50 year old black female who has worked 30 years of her life always giving and caring for others. I have attempted suicide twice because I am my wits end. It took almost 4 years for this unfair system to tell me no I don't qualify for sdi in which I paid into the system. I guess, I will have to prove to this ### and the rest of them that I refuse to let others come here and live off of me when they never worked a day in this country.

I got denied by this ALJ and she was very nice and listened very carefully. I have Fibromyalgia along with other things. In my denial letter she actually accused me of lying. I don't know what I lied about I was very nervous and I can't help that I am that way. I just told the truth and it really upsets me to be called a lair. I have never lied about my condition, no one but myself know how I feel unless they have walked in my shoes. Not even the doctors. I know they see all walks of life with everyone they see on a daily basis. And yes I would say at least 75% do lie. If I have to lie to get something, then I will do without but I have worked most of my adult life, paid in to ss and they tell me I am not disabled? I will not stoop to the level that some do.

Watch how evidence is characterized in your case he does not seem to read file prior to hearing so you will need to educate about the case AT hearing. He is friendly but that is fatal to your case if you underestimate what he knows about the file. When going to VE in GRID cases watch as he does not have sedentary evaluated he will just address medium and light work even though there are NO transferrable skills.

As a rep, my first encounter with her was horrible! I just knew she was like that all the time. But I've seen her many times since then, she's awesome actually. Pleasant, professional and she listens, she does not rudely cut people off, and lot of female judges are rough (look at percentages overall on this site), especially to female reps, she is not like that. She is intelligent as the review above said, she has a toughness too that I respect but I see compassion in her. She is fair and I do not think she denies claims lightly as some other judges in this office.

Any one thinking to go before judge Green just to get signed up ,because tired of working or whatever is in for a very rude awakening.Do not expect to have it easy even with hard evidence.She makes sure that you are really at the end of your working life.She also leaves no stone unturned.She is an asset to ssa.The people that are in dire need and have all the evidence to prove you will be given a fair chance.I would not wish this experience on any one and I had years of documentation.They have gotten to a point where so many people that are trying to work the system,that it is hard for the people that actually want to still work but are not able are having to really prove your case.

I went to court with this judge on Oct 23, 2012 I had Bypass Surgery in May, 2012 a heart attack in July of 2010...This judge seems to be polite he asked me questions in which i answered I mentioned that i had my bypass surgery which he had over looked my attorney told him which exhibit page it was on in which he seemed satisified also stated that I had gotten worse since the last time I saw him which was last year (remanded back)after I start to read off my meds he stops me and says that he needs to have a M.E. and wanted to reschedule my hearing OR I could have a inaroggatory intern answers somes questions and I may not have to come back for another hearing. He also wants to change my onset date...Dont know if that means I might be approved and also to give him a few weeks he didnt say that my case was closed but, my attorney says to give him 30 days...I hope this will all be over soon...Ive had this judge twice the only issue the last time isthat all my medical records were not in even though he gave TEN days to have them in so I was DENIED at that point. Now Im so hoping that this nightmare is almost over...

This chief ALJ is tough. If you have hearing, you are probably going to lose claim. Reps & attorneys seem to agree about that. Seems to make up his mind during pre-hearing screening & you probably can't change his mind. Uses extremely leading & loaded questions (result oriented) to claimants. Interrupts claimant rep's if they attempt to do same. Can be rude and overbearing to rep's & attorneys. However, friendly and direct with claimants. Apparently signs lots of on the record prehearing decisions, so award rate with hearings is lower. Per some local attorneys, he may offer amended onset dates pre-hearing and then deny claim completely if offered amendment not accepted by claimants.

Can be extremely tough judge. Award rate probably lower than indicated because he occasionally issues closed period & amended onset date favorables. Real award rate probably closer to 20-25% and has no problem denying mentally ill claims with drug or alcohol history, and no problem denying middle aged claimants with failed lumbar fusions.

This judge is completely unfair. I feel for anyone who has to deal with him because you basically have no chance. You will not be given a fair trial and do not be surprised if you are accused of being a deadbeat because you have medical problems. Do not be relieved if you happen to get an honest report from one of his scheduled consultations because if he does not like what is said in your report, he will find someone, paid by them, to say there is nothing wrong. People should be aware of this judge. Anyone who has a 24% approval rate should be looked into. There are not that many people in the state who will fight that hard and go through all of this crap to get a measley 6-700 dollars a month unless they desperately need it.

I am not sure if this was the judge that I got to see. Even though I have not received a decision as of yet I must say that the judge was nice. She smiled & let me know straight up that hey who needs to be here is not here so I will have to do something else. If this can be paid out, I will. Bottom line to that. So now I sit here in pain waiting. I have been diagnosed with cancer which has spread to my lungs, chronic muscle spasms, bone pain & type 2 diabetes (uncontrolled). Most days with medication I am a zombie or sleep. Without the medication I am in pain. My doctor wants to increase my Percocet to 2 at one time in hopes that would relieve the pain. Now tell me, how will I go to work sleep? Come on now

This ALJ barely even looked at me during my hearing (June 2012) and never reviewed any medical findings after July 2011, which confirm my diagnosis. Also he basically said I was a liar and therefore denied me any disability benifits at all. I am on 19 prescribed medications, I can barely function while taken them, they have impaired my thinking skills. I also have hyper somnia, means I sleep for hours at any given time of day, but somehow that evidence was not in his report. If I was pushed in to the hearing in a wheel chair with drool hanging from my mouth, maybe he would believe me. But since I am an upbeat person ( to hide all the crap on the inside)he sees me as functional. I have good days and I have bad days , some days I have no pain and other days all I have is pain. I'm a mixed bag-who in their right mind would hire a person like myself? I can't sit or stand for too long, i can only do minimal light non-thinkinh kind of work, I will fall asleep on the job, I will forget the task I've been given and wander the office. I would get fired within a week, that or get that special baseball helmet for my head. this man infuriates me

Brusque, unprepared, and elderly. During hearings, it appears that he looks for reasons to raise his voice. In one instance, he loudly alleged that there was no medical evidence to support a RFC from a particular treating source, only to be corrected that there were indeed more than 63 pages of evidence from this provider that he apparently failed to examine or even notice. In his denials, his idea of dealing with Social Security Ruling 96-7p is to simply insert in italics all of the claimant's testimony on one page. He then generally dismisses all of it as unpersuasive, without actually discussing what specific aspects he found objectionable.

I have plenty medical records to prove my case but i really believe that in alot of these cases people are in fact disabled but the judge just doesnt wanna hear it. which is wrong in so many ways.i mean when you look at some of these judges approval rates in the low 20% range you pretty much know your chance of getting it is over.

I had my ssa hearing at 9:00 this morning , june 12th. Judge TODD SPANGLER Preceded over my case and was on time and very professional the whole time. He touched base on every issue i had. He was very blunt and to the point but would also explain why! The Vocational expert and court recorder was also nice and professional! I admit to being real nervous when i first went in the room but Judge SPANGLER was pleasant talking and calm which made me feel the same way after the hearing started. So my experience with Judge TODD SPANGLER was a very good one! GOOD LUCK ! I HOPE YOU GET JUDGE SPANGLER ALSO !
