I had hearing with Judge Peeples. He was friendly and very thorough. He smiled every now and then and even though I misunderstood a couple questions he remained patient. I have not received a decision yet nevertheless I believe he will be fair to the requirements he has to go by. If I'm denied I will just see my next options. For the most part he did his job he even questioned the vocational rehab representative on my behalf. Doesn't mean I will be approved but at least he was listening and felt it was questionable.

I felt judge Foster listened to me. I was nervous and insecure about my case as I didn't have an attorney. I have an orphan disease that has impacted my life in many significant ways. I didn't feel rushed when I had my hearing. Judge Foster was complimentary and I left believing she was going to do whatever she could to help me. It's been a few months and I'm awaiting her decision. I feel she was moved by my testimony. I was comfortable sharing my testimony I'm her court. I am confident she will be fair and reasonable when she makes her decision. I left feeling good about the way my hearing went and I'm thankful she was the judge assigned to me. Now I wait.

The honorable Marci P Eaton will be hearing my 7 year olds case in October. Regardless of the outcome I pray that our whole case is heard, all evidence is accepted and taken into account, looking at her percentage of dismissal, approval, and denial, I believe she is fair. I will update after the hearing

In my opinion this judge is biased against some people who file claims. My claim was denied and he did not review all of my medical records. A form was sent to a person I know to fill out about their knowledge of my conditions. He said it carried no weight as they were not a doctor. The form did not say it was to be filled out by a doctor. He also said what my doctor wrote down carried no weight only what social security commissioner carried weight. What good would it do anyway to send in records when he ignores what they say?

Worst Judge ever, not only did he make a comment saying he is trying to believe me but the negative glares I didnt care for either. Then the lies, oh yes, so you write on my denial that you advised me of no attorney present and that I wanted to represent myself, LIES, I had an attorney there who was a complete joke didnt know anything about my case asking me questions about an abscess in my ear when it was in my intestines then quit after the hearing. I had an attorney there though yet in judges words I didnt have one then and you took the vocational expert word for word on her testimony never writing your own words as to why you denied me. I had a picc line had numerous surgeries with crohns and PTSD and seizures. You denied me in 2015 then I almost died due to my crohns then I get disability because I sent paperwork myself to SSI and not my lawyer Jeff Levine who did nothing, then all of a sudden I have a court case nobody knows what's going on, I get 3 phone calls from SSI admins asking me questions why they have my paperwork etc. Backwards system and none of you people care about us who are really sick. I almost died several times through 2016 2017 but your denial in 2015 could have changed that 1 point I stood up and almost walked out during the trial because judge was rude called me a liar without saying the word then my lawyer didnt know anything about my case had his secretary call me on my way there to make sure I was coming then I get there my lawyer wants me to drop my case then vocational expert does not know my disabilities or the fact i have 0 immune system but states many jobs from what data she collected that info from i have no idea as the jobs she stated are not even open or are they even in my area or surrounding areas....I check online for jobs is how i know then for judge to say I want to believe you like I'm lying, I have seizures PTSD crohns pnes, you think I can remember exact details I try to repeat as honestly as possible. Worst trial I ever was apart of, made me feel pretty ****** knowing these people are lazy at their jobs do not care how sick you are or all the procedures surgeries hospitalizations yet they sit there looking at you like your trash. Well buddy I'm not trash and your vocational expert gets her data from nowhere and my lawyer Jeff Levine didnt even know a **** thing about my case!!! How is that a fair trial? Or the fact you wrote on my denial I represented myself and you advised me which was lies and bullshit! If I knew who to contact to investigate my case I would but then again you all work together so it wouldn't matter huh. If you get this guy better be prepared to lose because this was a joke....Pretty sad disabled folks has to go through their illnesses which are lifelong and come to an unfair biased trial like mine. I hope karma finds you all and 1 day you will see what it's like to live in my shoes for 1 day.

This judge was very nice and asked a lot of questions. She seemed like a caring judge . But, it has been 3 months since I had my hearing and I still don’t know anything yet. My life is just barely hanging in there waiting on a decision. I have 2 minor children at home I am struggling to support. I am a single mother. I hope I hear something soon. I really need this. The drs are sending me to a pain clinic now, my condition is getting worse.

Judge: Maribeth McMahon

I had my hearing on September 7th 2018, I am waiting for a decision. Judge Maribeth McMahon was very pleasant, and as part of her job as a judge I wouldn't think that she would be able to show to many feelings about anyone's case, I was very comfortable with her, I know that she had an extremely hard morning, but never did she rush any questions or answers that I had. I was really lost with all the codes and numbers, but did have representation who knew exactly what was going on. I think that people really need to consider that the AJA has to be able to back her decision no matter if you are approved or denied. Judge Maribeth McMahon thank you for making me comfortable and listening to my case.

I just really wished that she would have took the time only 15-30 minutes out of her day too read up on TN- Trigeminal Neuralgia also known as -Tic_Delorous. To learn a little bit about it. Her nor my lawyer didn't really know much about it. I don't wish the Miserable disease on no one. But there are other people just like me that needs help. Because it most definitely is a debilitating disease. And yes it is also known as the Suiciide Disease. Just please update yourselves on the disease .please. Thank u.

Judge: Amber Downs

Even though I feel judge Gonzalo Vallecillo was unsympathetic I too did not fully participate. I have been stressed during this entire 4 year-long process. Due to my fear, I did not speak up for myself. I was deathly afraid and I did not provide full explanations, speak up, or tell the judge about my new medical issues. When asked about my knee that I KNEW was not in my medical records (trick question) I did not speak up about it not being in my records. I have many pains throughout my body but none of them trump my back pain so I don't complain or talk about them. The information he made the decision on is nearly two years old. I have an MRI that proves everything including a torn rotator cuff that was not considered in the hearing because I only sought help late 2017 after the pain was no becoming unbearable (one year after my original documents were sent to disability). My issues are 4 bulging discs, degenerative disc disease, bone spurs, sciatica, SI joint dysfunction, and major depression/bipolar. So I feel he made his decision based on the information presented. I was very intimidated and scared.

I would like to thank God first for this long-suffering struggle I have been dealing with for almost a decade. And also I will like to thank Ms. Judge Amber Downs for allowing me to bring my case before her as she took time to study making the decision that can help me and my family. She gave me a chance to explain my situation along with my records that provided all my medical information. Ms. Downs thank you so much for your time and your rule on my case I believe you were truly understanding and fair judge.

She seemed just as confused as i was , though she had all the info, then denied the appeal and back dated it 4 years, and they expect a refund though i was not able to drive per a profesional trained brain specialist due to cognitive issues needed eval, which she disagreed with. Was still doing therapy for Traumatic Brain Injury and Vision therapy, and not reached MMI till a year later for orthopedic and multiple other problems after her set date of not being disabled.. she should be fired !!! Cant give any stars but should deserve a box of rocks award... i could care less if she reads this or not.. the way the system is, no wonder so many veterans decide to opt out !!! And where do they get these crack pot specialty doctors anyway? You know they got to be paid off because i didnt even pass the eye exam but his rating was excellent

Judge: Scott T Morris

I was nervous about judge Morris because the only comments I saw for him were in Spanish and did not detail how he was. When I got in the room with him, I was nervous, but he explained everything so that I could understand and he was very attentive to my case and my lawyer. I just got my approval letter two days ago. I feel like judge Morris understood the severity of my case and understood that I would not be able to work with the problems that I have.

This judge took 7 MONTHS out of my life that I could have used to appeal my disability case!!!! She has all my records of my disabilities AND STILL DENIED ME!! They sit in their office making 100 thousand PLUS a year and they don't give a crap about anyone else!! I WISH she could live MY life for ONE WEEK AND THEN DENY ME OF SOMETHING I PAID INTO!! JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN NOT SEE MY DISABILITY DOES NOT MEAN THAT I DON'T HAVE ONE!!! YOU, JUST LIKE THE LAST JUDGE I HAD HAVE LEFT ME DRAINED OF EVERYTHING I HAD!!! I HAVE NOTHING SINCE I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO WORK SINCE 2009 AND YET YOU DENY ME!!! I HOPE YOU HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE SAME HELL I LIVE EVERY SINGLE DAY, 24/7, 365 DAYS A YEAR!!! I have news for you, you people sit behind your desk and PRAY AND HOPE that people like me either die or go insane JUST SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY US WHAT WE DESERVE AND WHAT WE HAVE PAID INTO! Life is so extremely hard for me and you just made it worse, it's not worth living but I WILL CONTINUE TO FIGHT FOR WHAT IS MINE!! I WILL TAKE IT TO THE HIGHEST COURT AND IF I COULD, I WOULD SUE YOU AND TAKE EVERYTHING FROM YOU THAT LIFE HAS TAKEN FROM ME!! THANK YOU FOR NOTHING!! GO LIVE YOUR LIFE KNOWING THAT YOU ARE ONE OF THE REASONS THAT PEOPLE ARE HOMELESS AND DO NOT HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE. PATHETIC!!

Judge: Brian Curley
9/3/2016 11:48:28 PM

Judge Curley conducts himself professionally. Unfortunately, I am one of those people that will fall through the cracks- denied SSDI but unemployable with my health conditions. Keep in mind that just because the vocational expert says no occupations fit your specific conditions and situation does not mean you will get approved.

Angry Veteran
Judge: Amber Downs
5/15/2016 11:42:28 AM

100 percent disabled veteran who went in front of Mrs. Downs. After the hearing she is attempting to enter an opinion that goes against everything my files show in attempt to deny me benefits. The fact she is entering this after the hearing so my lawyer can not cross examine this random expert shows how sneaky she is. Looking at her numbers she approves close to the least amount of people in both states that she operates. According to the law ALJ judges are suppose to give great weight to VA disability findings. Instead, she is looking for any way to deny me. I have been in contact with state legislators who are investigating the matter. It is a sad world when a veteran risks their life for a country and returns a shell of what they once were only to have to fight for a judge to believe in an already VA determined 100 percent disability. This needs to change and I will help change this law. We need new laws to support our wounded veterans and ALJ judges need to be held accountable for going against the SSDI veteran laws. This practice is a disgrace on veterans. What she did in my opinion is a disgrace and I am glad the state is looking into this matter to help other veterans in the future. We deserve better. Good luck to anyone seeing this judge who is a have an uphill battle.

What's the point if commenting if they don't read it. Way more medical evidence than I needed. I was told by my attorney that She was under the impression the judge didn't like me. Also she gave my dr no weight. Looked down upon. A gross abuse of authority. I was told by my attorney that the law failed me!!!! I guess they can use my tax dollars to cut more ducking welfare checks/food stamps.

Judge: David A Ettinger
8/17/2015 5:09:05 PM

Although Judge Ettinger probably thinks he is doing his best to apply the rules to the evidence, his disposition and behavior is insulting and rude to Claimant's representatives. A number of representatives I know refuse to practice before him. If one of their clients' cases is assigned to this judge, the representative withdraws. Life is too short to take abuse from this ALJ.

Judge: Mary S Lassy
4/3/2014 3:22:23 PM

I feel she was very unfair during the hearing. She did not take my disability into consideration and she pretty much looked down upon me. She abused her position to inflict pain upon my life with her ruling and she caused me much suffering and clouded it with her legal mumbo jumbo. I hope she is happy to have caused a person to suffer as she did.

Judge: Michael Comisky
3/25/2014 10:45:22 AM

Judge Comisky made me feel at ease during the process explaining what would take place step by step. I actually felt more at ease with the Judge than I did with my lawyer.

Judge: David A Ettinger

Judge David Ettinger distributes justice with knowledge and compassion. Don't go in front of him unless you are truly disabled. I know this from a recent personal experience. Their needs to be more men like him.

Judge: Lisa R Hall
4/24/2013 11:53:11 AM

I believe this judge holds resentment toward some attorneys and that determines the outcome of your case, she throwa out RFC's,and medical evidence for reasons such as she believes doctors are "helping you out" or they "didnt do enough", all her personal nastiness, NOT THE LAW she is suppose to be following. Xrays, MRI's dont count for anything as well with her.

Judge: Edward F Sweeney

Had 3 video-teleconference hearings in a row with Judge Sweeney. Thorough, professional, courteous and compassionate. The only problem was the remote location. The local SSA office hosting the hearings didn't open until 9:00, yet the first hearing was scheduled to start at 9:00. Nothing that the judge can control. He was patient and tolerant about our getting started late because of SSA's new office hours.

Judge: James E Craig

If I get denied there is no way I could be angered at this Judge. He and his reporter and also the vocational expert done all they could to make me comfortable. I'm deaf so it couldn't have been easy for them to communicate with me without sign language. Had my hearing 3 weeks ago, I hope I get approved but if I don't, it will certainly be because of something I didn't do right or that was necessary. He seems too compassionate of a man to just deny without good reason and I an always keep trying. Best of luck to those who are waiting. :)

I had my hearing on Sept. 20,2012 with Judge Craig. He was very professional and caring at the same time . Made me feel at ease immediately , as did the reporter. I was impressed at the kindness that the Judge and reporter showed. The reporter (would love to know her name!) came to me prior to the hearing and made sure how to pronounce my name correctly. My attorney advised me to arrive 45 minutes early as this Judge did not waste time. The hearing was scheduled for 10:15. To my surprise my attorney and I were called into the conference room and it began at 9:40. Lasted about 25 minutes. The VE was on a phone line and testified via teleconference. As nervous as I was before the hearing, I was delighted at how comfortable they made me feel . Judge Craig then advised me that I would be notified by mail as to his decision. Very satisfied with the entire process.

Judge: David A Ettinger
8/21/2012 1:11:15 PM

I had a hearing in front of ALJ Ettinger on 14 June 2012, my medical condition CONSTRICTIVE BRONCHIOLITS which is the condition I was disability retired after 21 years of active duty Army service, with 4 12 month combat deployments, 2 in Iraq and 2 in Afghanistan. My first deployment I was exposed to Sulfur gas over a 4 week time period. This is the cause of my CB, it was diagnosed by an open lung biopsy at Vanderbilt. During my hearing and contact with my lawyer I was not informed that CB had been added to the COMPASSIONATE ALLOWANCES list, in April 2012 as one of 52 new rare serious conditions by the Commissioner. These would take effect 11 Aug 2012. My appeal was denied several weeks later for a long list of reasons that did not pertain to CB. Surely the Judge would of known about these new conditions added to the Compassionate Allowances list, so why was I denied, CB is incurable, untreatable and progressive. This was proven by evidence provided. Is this because the judge did not know even though he is the expert, if he did know according the SSA website says it is an almost guarantee that you will be approved. So I am confused why something so important was not addressed.

Judge: Phylis M Pierce
7/12/2012 4:58:47 AM

Miserable. Prepare for a denial. She is the Chief ALJ in St Pete, is never in a good mood, and denies everyone lately. Have record complete or you will be scolded. Brace yourself.
