Judge Haigler was so compassionate, and treated me with respect. The hearing lasted less then an hour. While my lawyer and he talked about codes, and stuff that I didn't understand, I felt comforted by him and his staff. He pretty much agreed with my lawyer and gave me a favorable decision. I got my official letter about 6 weeks after my hearing. If you get Judge Haigler, as your ALJ, count your blessings. You're in good hands!

Was completely rude and dismissive toward my disability simply bc of my age. She clearly uses her own personal judgment instead of reading and UNDERSTANDING the disability cases in front of her. She awarded me "partial" disability (I don't even know why that's a thing); because my disability is somehow over. Disgusted!

I went before her, very recently. She was initially friendly and then immediately became condescending when she began questioning me. I was filing for permanent disability due to major depression and bipolar disorder. About the only questions she asked me about (and she made sure she made a big deal about it) was some mission trips and vacation trips. I believe she already had her decision before I ever walked in the door. She asked the job expert if I could physically work at a job assembling nuts/bolts or being a garment bagger. The expert said yes. That was it for her. Then my rep asked the expert if I could retain either of those jobs if I missed an average of four days a month. The expert said no. I very much felt like she had discounted me and saw me as someone trying to work the system before I ever walked through the door. I will be requesting a copy of the audio recording of my hearing upon my appeal.

Her supervisors and our congressional members need to be made aware of her conduct. No judge should get by with putting false information and contradictory info into the rulings. If she is doing this to get back at some attorney's because she does not like how they argue a case, that is btw them. Leave us out of it.

This judge’s ruling was shocking and unfair. Many hurtful assumptions were made and both my legal team and physicians were at a loss, meanwhile I continue to suffer and am unable to get the treatment needed to save my life. The ruling also contradicts itself and lacks important data proving my daily hardship and disability.

A real piece of work for a Judge, doesn't care if you've stopped using drugs or not, if it's in you're record that you've used in your past you will be judged for it and denied unfairly without regard. Kinda makes a person wish they were dishonest about using in the first place, so while over half the population at the homeless shelter in Tulsa get free room and board all the drugs and alchohol they want they can collect for being disabled but let someone apply who actually is disabled but has a "history" of marijuana use and they get denied.. doesn't make ANY SENSE. So by this judge's actions i give him one star by my standards one star is too much have a great day.

I won partial disability after a federal remand. I'm not over my illnesses, none of them I cry in pain daily. I struggle sleepingm I actually recently found out from a neurologist that I have small fiber neuropathy that led to a lot of my fibromyalgia illness, plus 60% hereditary from my mom. I was in a car accident in 97 he thinks the neuropathy started then that's when my migraines started. I was forced to try to go back to work and failed to as my job was threatened by my employers, but this judge felt I was better for some reason. My impression of her was she understood, but after reading her report she did not understand at all. Saying someone is better as they have an asthma attack in the court room and because they try to do something and you found that they would not be able to do this either should not put them partially disability. But fully. Unfortunately I will not keep fighting I'm out of points I will just have to wait until retirement comes. But its unfortunate we pay into a system so broken it helps people who never pay into it, then those of us who cant get as my neurologist puts it energy into the cell and that fibromyalgia recognized in 2012 counted as severe by "my rheumatologist " who knew me who not only saw me but emailed me about my symptoms and my multiple other doctors and two other rheumatologist who saw me. I have other Autoimmune it takes years to figure out yet you still had it back in 2017 I tried to explain it nobody hears your pain and suffering, your fatigue nobody gets it until they have it, or know someone with it as bad as you have it. The stuff listed isn't near as bad as my fibromyalgia, neuropathy, and autoimmune stuff other than my asthma. Sad bc I liked her disposition. But maybe the surgery amplified all this the neurologist said. It's sad you cant get help. But neuropathy is disabling. And nobody listens.

She despises disabled individuals. She has nothing but contempt for them. As someone noted earlier, it appears she doesn’t read her files. She’s gone from the DC OHO so she’s no longer causing damage there. She wreaked havoc on the lives of the people who appeared before her. Very sad.

Judge: Mary Abbondondelo
2/23/2019 6:04:00 PM

I agree with all the other comments regarding Judge Abbondondelo. I was informed that i will receive the results in the mail between 1 and 4 months from the date of my hearing. Prior to my hearing, when I was first notified of its date----I spoke my rep---he said I had been appointed an excellent judge. When I explained to him that I was worrying about the hearing, and how my disability, etc, would be perceived, he told me that I was worrying needlessly. Judge Abbondondelo was courteous, efficient, and got to the heart of the matter at hand, without wasting any time. She was not rude, not abrupt with me, whatsoever. I was told by my rep to follow these rules of thumb- 1. Don't lie 2. Don't interrupt. 3. Don't ramble, in other words, be concise, and answer the question asked of you by the judge, and at times, by my rep. The hearing took just under 30 minutes. It was a video hearing. There was a problem with the audio, while the vocational expert was speaking, but the judge wasn't fazed in the least........she simply had the court stenographer call the vocational expert, whom they placed on speaker phone, several questions were asked of her, by Judge Abbondondelo, re my ability to work, and to hold various job positions. Then the hearing was concluded, and I was advised of the wait time. Everything was very cut and dried, and went very smoothly and actually moved along quickly.

Judge: Scott M Staller

Scott staller looked at my evidence of being raped bashed and left dying and choking on my own blood. While waking to a geder idenity mesure which allowed my petpatrator to go free and left me with no justice. Before this I wad disabled at age 18 and later in life began trying to work because people called me lazy. I worked as a singer opping act for Waylyn Jennings and Jessica Colter in 1996...I workef as a sesfood and meat clerk at Meijer for 5 years before that a seafood and meat clerk at D&W Foods...I worked as a janitor for a twelve story building in Grand rapids mi...then I moved too Indiana and workef at Pizza hut for 4 years and tjen in jewelry at Walmart for 5 years. Then in 2006 is when I was rsped bashed and left for dead...I now have no cartilege in my nose this has been replaced with titatium metal....I have PTSd severe headachs that last for a month...Supperhigh blood presure anixty attaks..... It took me years and severl letters to President Obama...The federal didn't want me to have a court date....Hoever the Obama administration and the hall of justice sent me Judge Staller from Lousiana. I brought my evidence in and asked judge for disability ssi ssd suvivers and retiernment with full medical and 200.00 a month in food. Wonderful Judge Staller granted me all in 2009, fully favoible! However by 2010 the Social Security Administration sent me a letter which cut me down too $124.00 per month and paid my years bavk pay at $124.00...I callef the SSA which told me, "We don't care what the judge rulled for you Richard! This is welfare and this is all you're going to get!" So then in the comming month my father came down with prostate cancer lost his job at Notre dame. Dad and me had just bought a new house these hapoenings caused us to lose our home! So again I wrote the Obama administration and they sent me a list of lawyers...I picked kellum and she helped. I recieved $back pay at $124.00 a month which was $9,000...So I used this money after my dad recoverd from prostate surgery in dead of winter durring a pay for my fathers bankduptsy and move us to kalamazoo, mi And today I am still being abused by the Socail security administration from Benton Harbor to Kalamazoo trying to cancel my bennifets to taking away my food on thanksgiving day all while my father has cancer again; a huge mass removed which was growing into a kidney he lost ...Socail Security Administrion has terrized me so bad that I have recently been dignosed with a bad heart. You see SSA is refussing to give me my survivers INS...while claiming I wasn't disabled at 18..... Sincerely Richard

Judge: Elizabeth B Dunlap

We were before her twice. She denied first case. Appeals council remanded because she had not considered the opinion of a renowned specialist at Baylor. She really had a attitude at the second hearing. This time, the Appeals Council remanded again and sent her a very detailed list of errors she had made that were not in accordance with social security laws and procedure. So, I would have to say she is not as well versed in SSI law as others have said. This time they remanded to another ALJ because of all her screw ups.

It's been a while since I was approved for Disability but I wanted to report that the honorable Judge: Whitfield Haigler, was easy to be in front of when I went for my hearing. I was terrified of what would happen, but he and all the other people who were there made me feel at ease and I was able to answer their questions and present my case for disability. I am glad I won't have to go through that again. I waited 2 1/2 years to be approved for disability and by not being able to work, I went bankrupt and lost all my assets. I feel that the Social Security Administration should not be so difficult to convince when someone applies for their Social Security. I started working at the age of 16 and worked until the age of 60. After spending years to build up my credit and assets, I lost everything I had due to becoming unable to work, then applying for disability and getting denied three times before being approved. I had to sell everything I owned just to live for those 2 1/2 years with no income at all. Now I am 65 and have a small Social Security income, but I have no assets, and my credit rating is shot to pieces. I will never be prosperous again as long as I live. At this time, I am staying with family, waiting for a low-income apartment to become available for me. I do thank God that this Judge finally approved my disability because if he hadn't, I don't know what would have happened to me.

Judge: Ryan Kirzner
3/28/2018 6:56:46 PM

Judge Kirzner is a direct and no nonsense ALJ. He was professional and thorough during his line of questioning during my SSDI Hearing. Following his lead made it less challenging for me to answer his questions because his questions were clear and direct. One could not make any assumptions about what decision he would make because of his professionalism and thoroughness during the hearing. I am unsure of what the outcome may be but I can honestly say that Judge Kirzner's professionalism and experience lessened some of my anxiety about what the next step is. I can honestly say that if I'm denied I received a fair hearing.

Debra Nolan
Judge: Anne H Pate
2/24/2018 2:17:08 AM

Anne Pate heard my my daughter's case. My daughter has a fever back injury from a four car pile up. This was in 2011. She also has PTSD, severe depression as was documented. This judge determined that she could work for six hours in a day a job that allows her to sit no more than 30 minutes or stand no more than 30 minutes. This judge isn't here when I had to call the Georgia crisis help line because my daughter has been suicidal. Her sister come see her. She doesn't go see them. Plus she had that Alisha worked five months ago which isn't true. She hasn't worked at all since 2013. After the wreckless driver smashed us, she had been out of work since 2011. She tried to work again in 2013. Many times I had to pick her up because she couldn't do her job due to pain. How can a person pay for medical bills on 6 hours a day? Is that really gainfully employed?? The vocation expert said if she missed 3 days at the 3 types of jobs she could do, she would be terminated. That would really go well being fired all the time for a person with PTSD. Where is common sense? I hope Social security reads my daughter's file and see that this judge was dead wrong! Alisha has a problem in that she isn't dramatic. Yet people with PTSD are not as a rule. They fold in. I will continue to pay my daughter's medical bills because I want to keep her alive as social security doesn't care if she lives. I'm selling my house so I can care for her. My daughter suffers due to no fault of her own. Yet if she was an addict she would get the help she needs. . Not right. Spondolothesis Spondolsis, and loss of disc height is a joint. It's the most important bones in your body. Back bones hold the person up. Yet I'm here when she is in tears from the pain. Ms. Anne Pate is not. I was here all the times she thinks life isn't worth living. Imagine as a mother hearing that from your child. Yet just like the ***** that hit us and broke my back in two places, we as victims always suffer. Alisha's back is ruined and yet no justice from this judge.

I was a respected professional in society. I paid for my "insurance policy" working hard for years. I had never asked anyone for anything. Mental Illness hit me hard, swift, and unexpected. My credibility untarnished. My integrity in order. The judge operates Deceitfully. I was victimized by his inability to utilize common sense, no decernment was at play. It's been over 3 years. Others before me committed suicide while he prolonged their case. He decides on who lives and who dies solely at his discretion. Evidence means nothing when he is partial to who he self appoints as valid testimonies. Betrayed by every means. Righteousness repaid with Wickedness. Lord I forgive this man. Lord help me forgive. I trust in you alone I look to you for my security.

Judge: Francine L Applewhite
11/4/2016 8:04:47 AM

I have known this Judge for several years now, first when she was in Baltimore and now that they are in DC. The only good thing about Judge Applewhite is that she appears to do few hearings. If you are unfortunate enough to be in front of her be aware of the following. 1) Judge Applewhite is extremely unprofessional both to attorney's and to claimants. When I first went in front of her when she was in Baltimore I in normal course waived reading of the issues. She completely lost her mind at this and started ranting that she was the Judge and she does not accept my waiver and then proceeded to go through the entire issue process. During my closing at that hearing I argued a listing and she again started ranting that she was the Judge and would decide if a listing was met. I told her I know that and this is just my argument during the closing. She did not seem to understand this and kept stating that SHE was the JUDGE and would decide the case not me. 2) Judge Applewhite does not understand the medical records. Her ignorance in this regard is startling. When arguing a listing in front of her (a fairly common listing at that) during a recent hearing, it was clear she did not understand the medical terms involved. At one point she misread an imaging study, and at another she stated that a listing required an extra element that it did not require. When I tried to explain the terms involved she told me to "move on" and that she "would not hear anymore on this matter." I wish this was an anomaly but it is pretty standard for her. It is not terribly uncommon for a Judge to not be medical experts on every issue, but to also refuse to hear an explanation of the existing medical documentation is absolutely ridiculous and something that so far has been unique to Judge Applewhite. 3) Judge Applewhite approves few cases. Statistically she is pretty low and from what I can tell she is one of those Judge's who actively dislikes representatives being in cases. The fact that Judge Applewhite is an ALJ is probably the strongest argument currently existing for a change up in ALJ accountability.

Truly a wonderful judge. I've represented hundreds of clients before boatloads of judges, and he is one of the best I've ever worked with. He's tough - don't kid yourself that he's going to award just because he's engaged and professional at hearing. But, while I wish he'd see it my way every time, he is fair. I have now appeared before Judge Peebles three times. Out of the 70 or so ALJs I've been before, he is one of the best. Conducts his hearings logically and calmly, is polite to the claimant and ensures she understands what is going on, is fully aware of what's in the record. He may come to a different conclusion than what the claimant/representative would like, but he will do it fairly and conscientiously. Know your case, prepare your client, and expect to be treated in a dignified, congenial manner.

Her knowledge of Social Security Disability law is amazing, and she is patient, kind, professional, and willing to provide extra time to complete the record--even to order a post-hearing consultative examination. When my clients are fortunate enough to be assigned to her, I tell them they have the best. I've even gone so far as to say that I probably will not appeal her decision, because it probably will be right. I'm shocked to read that anyone would think negatively of her.

These comments are interesting. A few people actually like him and think he does a good job (the winners). Then there are the "worst judge ever" and "biased and judgmental" (the losers). I have appeared before Judge Bundy several times. I haven't always won, but I usually do. My take on him is that if the claimant is deserving, and his representative does a good job of representing him and is prepared for the hearing, he will award benefits. He doesn't always get it right, but who does? All in all - if you are a SS disability client - don't go to a hearing unrepresented. If you do get representation, get referrals from lawyers or other people who have been through the process. If you find a competent SS representative and you truly fit the SS definition of disabled, you will get a fair hearing from this judge, in my experience.

This judge lies. He lied about what medical records he had in his possession. The medical records that he said he didn't have are clearly listed in the "Medical Records" section at the end of his decision. He believed nothing that I said and nothing that any of the doctors said. Two of those doctors were hired by the Social Security Administration. In his decision, Judge Peebles seemed to be arguing with the doctors. I was diagnosed with several illnesses which the doctors documented in the records and still Judge Peebles said in his decision that I don't have any of these illnesses. He said that the doctor's opinion was inconsistent with the overall records. He threw out other diagnoses because he said my answers were inconsistent with those illnesses. He misspelled many of the words in his decision and some of those that were spelled correctly were misused, i.e. dysphonic (problems with the voice) vs. dysphoric (unhappy).

I was told by my attorney that Judge Butler takes Months and months to decide on disability cases. I went to see him on August 7, 2013...after already waiting 2 years to get my Hearing date with a Federal Judge. SO now I have waited 3 years. I broke my foot off my ankle in 2008. I have a plate and 6 screws holding it on. I have daily pain in my right ankle. It is tearing up my left knee that was operated on in 1996...I have a torn meniscus on my right knee and my right hip is getting worse the more I walk. I had a Nervous Breakdown in 2010 and Found out I am Manic Depressive and this whole thing with not being able to walk is driving me nuts. I have not worked...I can not work. My dyslexia is so bad I have had to back space and retype just to type this so you can read it. I want to make a Formal Complaint about Judge Larry Butler... How do I do that?

I am a Minnesota attorney with 25+ years of experience. First, a comment about the "low approval rate" at NHC in St. Louis. Their office is trying to help hearing offices around the country catch up on the huge backlog of claims. You can decline a video hearing and wait many more months for a hearing in person with a Minneapolis judge. Many attorneys tell me they always decline the video hearings because of these same statistics. What they don't understand is their actions may be the exact reason the statistics look so bad. The judges are much more likely to dismiss or deny a claim that does not have all the important evidence in or unprepared witnesses. An experienced attorney matters. My clients and I have appeared in front of Judge Haigler multiple times. You can tell he has always read the file carefully. (Not true of all judges.) Like appearing in front of the Supreme Court for oral arguments, he will tell the attorney at the beginning of the hearing the specific parts of the record he needs clarified or explained if we want to convince him of the severity of the medical problems. He is respectful and courteous questioning the claimant. He allows you to go past the usual one hour hearing time if you have a translator or essential witness.

this judge made a decision on what he "believes" not what the evidence showed. this whole process has been a joke, legal people making medical decisions. the "Doctor" they sent me to checked my vitals, testes my reflexes all in about 5 minutes didnt even want to talk about why i was there. but this judge gave a great deal of weight to this quack who is just running a ss scam for money!! i dont qualify for a mental disability, but that was never my issue it was physical! what a joke. i want to know who he has approved and how long he has sat on other decisions.

I thought my hearing went well. I was told by social security office this judge found my case unfavorible. I am suffering from PTSD from an attack that also caused severe back and neck injuries. I do not understand how judge came to that conclusion. I also have suffered from agoraphobia for the pays few years. During my hearing VE said there were no jobs I can perform. I am very upset that this judge acted so compassionate then found my case unfavorable. I do plan on filing an appeal or reapplying. Just because this judge acts if he cares it is all an act. I hope the longer he deals with disability hearings he realizes how he is affecting people who are really disabled. There are so many people getting disabiliy that does not deserve it. I am so upset and don't even see how I can go on.

I thought I'd back Mr. DeGregorio's statements. I've also had the "honor" of meeting this particular judge during my last hearing. He is so biased and judgmental that he refuses to look at the FACTS and EVIDENCE in front of him. He SHOULD NOT have the power to decide the fate and/or well being of a lab rat, let alone a human being.

After having to deal with the particular ALJ twice now, I can confirm what most of the posters here have said. This man's action border on the criminal and hopefully someone within SSA will see this and conduct an investigation into Mr.Bundys actions. He does not accept what a claimant's Doctor's say nor does he consider any MRI reports as credible either. I wish there was a way to have this man removed and banned from ever serving in a legal position again. And Mr. Bundy, IF you happen to read this, you know how to contact me if you want to address my grievance. But be forewarned, I do have a few choice words for you that I will refrain from publicly posting. And if anyone else out there has had bad dealings with Judge Bundy, please post and maybe enough of us can get SSA's attention and get Mr.Bundy put to pasture where he belongs.

Have had one hearing with this ALJ. She is pleasant and patient. She did not ask for an opening statement. She questioned the claimant generally for about 25 minutes. She did ask the VE a hypo based on less than full time sedentary work and the VE listed 3 sedentary jobs. I had to correct that on cross exam. She did not ask for closing argument. I had the impression this ALJ was fairly new to the bench. Her award rate is on the conservative side.

I had my hearing in front of a younger guy he was in his late 30s to early 40s but i don't remember his name. He was very nice he asked me most of the questions looked at my evidence and asked my lawyer if he had anything to add. He said no he thought i had said everything i needed to so he want going to waste his time. It lasted maybe 15 minutes then asked me if i had a drivers license and said he was rolling my date back to the date of my car wreck. I don't know if i won or lost but my lawyer said he felt really good about it.

I've had two hearings with this ALJ and my experience is consistent with other comments here. He's very easy going, pleasant to work with, non-confrontational. Like most ALJ's over the last couple years, if they had a high award rate they seem to have gotten pressured to come down in the 45-60% range.

Rushed us through hearing. Given only 25 minutes for case to be heard, and then omitted parts of my testimony from actual hearing. My case was denied. I have a form of cognitive impairment that is Early Alzheimers, but because of my age (46), I am being asked to remain in the work force doing menial work where I will most likely get fired within my 90 day period because of my memory. I have an attorney. I still lost. If I were four years older, I would get a compassionate allowance, by that point I may not even be able to remember it's available.
