Judge: Anthony R Smereka

Judge Smereka wouldn't allow me to have a medical specialist expert at the hearing which was my right. Instead, he had a general doctor who didn't even have an active practice to call in or wasn't even there to take responsibility for the false statements he made. What was the point of having a medical expert who wasn't even a medical expert at the hearing. It was to deny my right to have a medical expert.

This judge made statements in her denial that were not true and stated that even though the diseases I have been diagnosed with could cause the pain I claim to have, she doesn't believe I have pain to the extent that I claim. Absolutely ridicules!! Good luck getting approved for the benefits you have paid into your whole life if this judge decides she doesn't want you to have them. I hope karma is real and she gets her due in the end.

This judge is a tool. Rude. Condescending. Horrible. Didn’t help my advocate was his twin lost at birth. I have 2 brain tumors, severe anxiety & depression, and this “judge” denied my claim because I was “calm and collected” in his courtroom. No lies! I was diagnosed in 2012 and this is a chronic disease I’ll die from. I’m now filing bankruptcy and have nerve damage now in my feet. THIS TOOL SAID I COULD BE A GROCERY STORE BAGGER.

I hope when my hearing comes that my situation is understood, I been sick with ulcerative colitis for 16 years I lost a lot of jobs, because of the pain,my weight has been up and down far as weight lost and gain. That illness far as living with the chronic pain led to me becoming bi polar depression then anxiety then schizophrenia. I feel like my lively hood was tooken away from at a young age I lost so much of my life being sick and I hope when my hearing comes up you understand me thanks.

This judge denied me when i have fibro saying i need proof what is causing my pain because the pain isn't consistent also i have depression and tried killing myself 5 years ago and since i haven't been seeing a physch. Every month. My psych doc even wrote it in the report that i see him every 6 weeks. I also have copd and since the reports on those weren't all bad on my breathing every visit to the doc appointment he made a comment on that. Well let me tell you all this I've been suffering with fibro , copd, depression, anxiety, and more for over 5 years and trying to get disability and i don't have anyone to pay my bills so I'm forced to work and suffer with extreme pain and since thanks to this denial from administrative law judge Anthony R. Smereka I'm ending my suffering because I can't keep doing what I have been to survive so this is on his head. Good bye EVERYONE and good luck to everyone who's stuck with this guy.

He has no grasp on reality. He cares more about a lawyer's foot than you. Over 20 doctors and 6 year's and he still says no. He is politically bias and discriminates. He shouldn't even be on the bench. He doesn't look at any evidence. He will lpoker back at pass cases all doctors saying I can't work and scratched his stupid head and just says uh wow all three are stage 4 which means no work possible but somehow goes to the last case and goes off that. Not anything new. We all know these judge's are corrupt. Dope heads get it with ease. A guy said he heard voices and got it. Guess the only way to win is huff air, do drugs and say you hear voices. 20 doctors and a NO. It's because of my age and sex.Only and his ****** STATS HE HAS TO KEEP ON CHECK FOR THE FISCAL YEAR. See them on the site. It's pathetic and he does Hawaii as well as Santa Barbara. That should make him not a judge right there. He's just as bad as Mary and Roger but acts nice. I posted the 3 star on him but I guess I was wroung. All just a show. He puts no effort in any thing. Sad and it ruins people's life's and maybe he gets off on that playing GOD with people's lives

Judge: Kyle E Andeer
1/9/2017 6:22:09 PM

He is new to Santa Barbara and scratched his head about paper's saying I'm stage 4 which means 85% of the time of anything I can't do. I don't get why that's a head scratcher. He is a nice man. Seems arrogant and you will have to wait 90 to 120 day's before you get a decision. All evidence says NO. But expect a NO. New and doesn't seem to get medical records at all. Still waiting and hope he makes the right decision but you know SSI judges. They go off statistics for the fiscal year and have to keep a average or don't give a **** at all. Also political bias and age discriminate happens in SSI. THAT'S NOT THIS JUDGE'S PROBLEM that I know of. Just new, make you wait forever and is nice in the court room. Can also be funny. But doesn't seem to get anything. He asked the man can he work the 3 bad job's SSI said I can and they had to say NO. 20 doctor's say NO. Stage 4 on everything. Kinda a EASY decision but have to see. SSI will never care about the disabled or there problems period.

Judge: Cheryl M Rini

She judges my brothers disability based on his age because he is 50. His back problems didnt change from 49 to 50 years old, he still has the same problems, you didn't even look at his file. Seriously. You had his file for a year and because his Attorney called and asked what was going on in the beginning of December you suddenly came up with this lame decision. You should walk a mile in his shoes for about 2 months and I bet you would feel different.

Judge: David A Mason
10/28/2016 11:04:52 AM

I went before Judge David Mason Jr on May 27th 2016. As I stated in my last review my Attorney and I had all of the documents including X-Rays, Mri's, doctors notes, ALL the forms that SSD requested from my doctors and after the hearing the Judge sent me for a mental and medical exam paid for by Social Security. My attorney told me that the medical exam from Social Security looked like the doctor agreed with my doctor and that I couldn't work. The SSD mental exam was done by psychologist, it took maybe 25 to 30 minutes. The mental exam wasn't as strong as the psychiatrist's whom I've been seeing every 2 months for the last 7 yrs. My Attorney told me that Judge Mason Jr received everything on his desk around Aug 17th 2016. In my last review I had wrote that the judge had no remorse. I meant compassion, he was tough and seemed angry. From his statements about my Dad's suicide, to how many FB friends I have ( which I took a guess, I was so scared) to how much money I had received and how much I gave my son out of my inheritance. My Attorney had said he had never witnessed a Judge act like that and that I'm able to have as much money as I want. I was told at least 10 days ago that the Judge has requested a Supplemental Hearing and that the Judge hadn't stated why. I was told that he has to give a reason why and until he does we just have to wait and then be set up for another Hearing. So we have to wait even longer. I had a breakdown in front of this Judge, it was horrible. I'm so confused as to why we have to have another hearing and why the Judge isn't putting in a request as to why and getting the Date set. My stomach is a mess, I can't sleep and my psychiatrist has made one of my meds stronger and my mind is swirling. I'm worried that I might puke in the courtroom, this Judge scared me. I hope this Judge will make a decision soon. I started working making around $400 to $500 a month, I have pain so i'm unable to work, I'm not sure how long I can go. I don't want to spend the money that my Father left me but I'm slowly using it up. I'm so scared to go before this Judge again ALL of this. I've worked since the age of 16, I'm 46 now and I've always judged people who I found out receive SSI. I'm eligible for SSD and it's been a nightmare trying to get approved. I just hope he approves me soon. Feeling scared since I met this Judge and even more nervous to know that I have to wait and go before him again. 10-28-2016

Judge Cherry picks medical information and loves to find claimants as discreditable. As how would she know? As a Judge who is certainly has a discrimination for people who have disabilities. My advice is to appeal in Federal Court. Many cases have been heard and won there as these ALJ'S have been repeatedly warned on how they deny claimants. Her record speaks for itself and Judges like this Social Security Loves as our Nation is broke and so is Social Security as Trillions pour overseas for failed outcomes. These Judges should be voted in by the public and held accountable for their actions. Not how it is set up now which stakes the deck against you. The heartache is real but keep fighting and get a good attorney for Federal Court. The merit of your case will win out.

Judge: David A Mason
7/22/2016 6:12:32 AM

I'm doing this review as I wait for my decision. I met Judge David Mason Jr while waiting for my hearing with my attorney, he walked into our waiting room and informed us that he was running about 10 minutes behind. He had a nice smile and was in great shape. It was nice of him to come out and tell us himself. My 1st memories of my knee defect was at age 9, my 1st surgery at age 12, my next surgery was at age 41. I have been diagnosed with a R Knee Osteochondral Defect, Osteoarthritis, R hip and severe back thigh pain. It is a disease that as you age the knee becomes bone on bone and that's where I'm at, in severe pain when I walk and pain in my back thigh butt area when I sit. The only surgery I was told is a osteochondral allograph transplantation to fill in the large defect, which involves receiving part of a femur from a cadaver, but due to my age it is not recommended and because I'm 45 yrs old I should wait until I'm closer to 50 and hopefully technology will have advanced. I have went to PT around every other week for about 20 months and now I'm able to do the exercises at home and my husband helps with the hands on . I see my medical doctor every 3 months for the last few years and he filled out the forms that SSD requested and from his answers I'm unable to work. I've paid into social security since 1986. I worked very hard for many years to make sure the mortgage was paid and raising my 1 and only child who has became much more then a mother could ever dream of. I'm being treated for anxiety and severe depression along with possible bi polar, I started therapy with a psychiatrist in 2009 and as the years went on, I've tried many different medications. I go to my psychiatrist every 2 months for my medication and have documentation of this, which I'm embarrassed about. After almost 13 years of my FT job I was terminated in 2012 after a return to work of only 7 weeks from my knee surgery, I was having a hard time getting around and it was noticeable, so they found a reason and let me go. That's how I feel about it. In April of 2015 I started to feel suicidal and was put on more medication which has made it even harder to get around, stay awake and concentrate. My Psychiatrist filled out the forms for Social Security stating all of this and from his answers I'm unable to work. When the hearing started the Judge was TOUGH, HARD, and seemed mean, I cried so hard due to the memories of my Mother's death and then the memories of trying to take care of my Father and trying to get him out of his severe depression, plus working, while in severe pain myself all of those years and the realization that here I was in court asking, pleading for disability, I almost got sick. The memories of finding my Father's lifeless body due to suicide in the same spot my Mother died in their home 5 years previous due to cancer was horrific but the ALJ judge showed no remorse for any of my memories or disabilities. He was TOUGH! The ONLY reason I'm giving him 5 stars is due to the FACT that this Judge is For The People of this Country and to know that he treats people like this is a hard thing to swallow but good to know that the system isn't weak, this man-Judge is TOUGH... I just hope he looks at all my documentation and even though I have a ton of medical records, X-rays, MRI's, and regular treatments, exams, and proof from treating doctors this Judge STILL had me go to a Mental and Medical Exam after the hearing. Now I just have to wait for his decision.

Judge Dodson is not a fair judge and he covered-up corruption of Field Office workers and the Payment Center who falsely accused an ex-con of receiving money while in prison. The ex-con was not at fault for the $34,000 overpayment because his master benefits record said his benefits were suspended during the incarceration period. Although Mr. Dodson had the ex-con's file before him, he chose to overlook the master benefits record, and deliberately found the ex-con "at fault" for creating a $34,000 overpayment.

I con not believe that social security has not tried to start having case workers Fromm ssd come to my home to see what my life as become do to my disability they could come see every six months to check and see for them selfes . I fell in 1999 and broke my back and had 4 titanium cages put in and was not able to work I won ssd in 2003 and was unable to work after 3 yrs I would slowly try and pick jobs and ask favors from my union to help me get back. there is far more to working than just a pay check I would work off and on until 2007 and then went full part time by that I maen that I made so much money when I did work that did not need ssd.BUT I TORE MY BODY APART My KNEE WERE COMPENSATING FOR MY BACK IN HAD MULTI SURGERYS ON MY KNEES ONLY TO BE CRIPPLED NOW BOTH KNEES NEED TO BE REPLCACED.had partial on left knee that did not work applied for ssd in 2012 turned down hired Ron miles he did nothing no medical records for judge who I seen on sept 15 2014 it is now it is dec 2 2014 just got email from Ron was denied I have to take 100 mil morphine three time aday and lyrica 150 mil once I also take depressing meds who will hire me can't even walk from one side of my house to the other yet WAS DENIED AFTER THREE YEARS OF FIGHTING, so sad DO NOT HIRE RON MILES

Can you explain, without using the word: CORRUPTION, or mentioning crooks, ie Debra Bice, Carolyn Colvin, Sherry Thompson, David Thompson et al., why a 100% Service-Connected DISABLED veteran, who hasn't been gainfully employed since honorable discharge 1987 would be denied ssdi benefits ? Do you think the SSA has more criminals employed than does the VA ? Have you blown the whistle on any of the crooks you see at the SSA ?

I had this judge in 1996 i received a favorable decision from him. He was very pleasent and polite. He understood that the pain i had was present 5 days out of 7. We laughed and talked about how being able to receive ssdi helps to releive the stress on a family. Wish he was back on the bench in detroit. I went back to work in 2003 after my husband abandon me and our children. I worked until 2010 and was unable to take the pain. so now i have been fighting since 2011 and have been denied over and over again.

I am writing this due to your deniel decision on my case in 2013. You denied my case for several reasons, my main issue is that I had a " SSD" case going for 6-7 yrs which at the time my lawyer stated my DLI expired 12/2010, the soc sec office & judge mary s Connolly also stated I didn't have enough work credits, I was also told I had a "SSI" case pending at the same time, which at that time I couldn't possibly have qualified for SSI because I had too much income, How on earth could I have ANY case going under ssd when soc sec says 1 thing not enough credits & my attorney says dli expired,I need answers!!! You also denied me & dis-credited 5 different specialty dr's showing my medical issue's. This is RIDICULOUS esp when you approved many I know that are abusing the system, ARE WORKING CASH JOBS & DRIVING NEW CARS!!!! Now as it stands my case is suppose to go b4 the US court of appeals which no lawyer will take & start a new SSI case. Judge Mary s Connolly did NOT one time LOOK AT ME during the hearing, My situation needs to be under investigation as Soc Sec told me that it could not be legal the way my case was handled. I am now HOMELESS, DESTITUTE, & HAVE NO TRANSPORTATION! This judge made a BAD wrong decision in regards to me!!!!!!!!!!

I tend to agree with the other comments. I of course had a different case. At first I blamed my lawyer, which I still do, but I also am dissatisfied with the judge. When I left the hearing, the judge had used my exact symptoms and needs and completely. Zeroed out any jobs from the Employment Expert. Yet on my letter from her she listed. Three jobs, with which I can not do, and two of them had YouTube video's so I can absolutely say I can not do. Which I made sure to put in my letter to the appeals council. I have multiple diseases, COPD with Emphysema in both lungs, as well as a neuropathy that causes me to lose my sight and feel like something is crushing my spine, my neurologist suspects MS but that takes a long time to diagnose. I also am bipolar, have major depressive disorder and post traumatic stress disorder, and have been told by my Dr. I'm not going to live to see 50, and I wont see 40 if I don't quit smoking. And she used that against me as if I want to die. I'm trying to quit smoking, if anyone checks the stats its freaking hard to quit. And I can't take chanticleer because of my mental disease. It causes intrusive thought on people with just depression, my Dr. Said absolutely not. I worked since I was old enough to work, went to college, everything I could and I've been fighting illness the whole time. I don't want to be disabled., but I am. When you can't do your dishes without crushing feeling in your spine making you stop within the first five minutes your done. And my mental is done, I've been raped, lost a baby, my dad hung himself, those are all on paper execpt the rape, but its on paper with my therapist. I been beat nearly killed. Nearly killed by a dealer because my heroin addict dad ripped him off, had the gun to my head. Ok I gotta stop. How much more do you want, I had my first nervous breakdown at sixteen. I'm thirty and told I'm dieing on top of everything else, I can't do anymore. I hope she reads these.

I feel this Judge has little knowledge of the impact of symptoms of claimants with mental illness. Apparently she is a body language expert and used my lack of attention and eye contact to say I was not credible, with no proof, she made the assumption I was currently an alcoholic, which I don't even drink, and over looked medical evidence and gave little to no weight to my RFC's. She used the fact that my treating physicians note that I am "pleasant" while in office against me, and also the fact that I can get along with my family. Im Very disheartened by the experience and feel bad for anyone young, who doesn't go before her drooling and unable to move.

Judge Blair, was very fair, and listened intently, asked only pertinent questions and was very quick, thanks for being fair!

Sasena's alright. If you have a decent case and you have a complete medical record, he'll treat you okay.

One of the most fair and kind ALJs in the SSA system. He is always respectful of clients and representatives/attorneys. He is well versed in the file prior to the hearing and allows wide latitude for the client to present his/her case. He listens to the testimony and makes rational decisions.

My husband said that this judge was a respectable judge, and compassionate, yet very firm. He would have given him a great rating.

Ms. Connolly is a great judge. She listened to me as if she knew me & wasn't quick to judge me. I felt very comfortable explaining my disabilities & ailments to her. My hearing was a very emotional time for me & i felt as if she could feel my pain. I am a Air Force Veteran & very unfortunatly I became disabled in 2010 at the young age of 22. I was a victim of a assault with a knife & was shot.. I give BIG THANKS to Ms. Connolly for supporting her Veterans'

I had a hearing in front of this judge this spring. The only reason I am not giving her more stars is that she saw something in my records that was from many years ago and decided that I needed a Representative Payee even though my disability is physical and has absolutely no impact on my mental faculties. It's not that big of a deal, but she named the person to be my payee even though the person was not in the hearing, she had not met him, and knew nothing about him other than one answer I gave in the hearing acknowledging that this person had been helping me out with paying for my doctors visits while this process played out. Other than that, she was kind & courteous in the hearing and accepted the VE's opinion without so much as a followup question.

Judge: John J Rabaut
6/22/2012 11:20:12 PM

I requested that Judge Rabaut recuse himself from my client's case. He called and berated me for requesting the personal appearance of the CE, which is allowed by law. I told him that he was acting inappropriately and requested on the phone that he recuse himself, which he verbally denied. So, then I wrote a letter requesting he recuse himself and submitted the letter via Electronic Records Express. I asked in my letter that he never call me again and that he instead send me any communications via writing.
