I have to say that this entire process is a very emotional, draining, and saddening process. Never in my life did I think it would get to this point where I had to hire my lawyer(thank God) to speak for me, to help me, to calm me and to guide me through this unfamiliar process I also had this judge, and to be honest I do not remember most of the hearing because my anxiety was very high. However, what I do remember was seeing a judge through a glass/tv and trying to listen and answer the questions that she asked feeling hopeless ..very hopeless. I know she asked the same question several times and I don't remember what i said or why she kept asking /rephrasing the same somewhat question. I pray she didn't think I lied because one in their right mind would put themselves through this process if they didn't need it. It almost makes you feel , well if the Lord will take me now my family will have my survivors benefits and that shouldn't be the case. I never wanted to be here but in life God has a funny way of throwing curve balls. I just hope and sincerely pray that she puts herself in our shoes and imagine if it was her. Would she want to be treated with decency and respect, would she want to be pushed to the edge of your mind and physical body limitations with no hope. I have faith in God and in her that God will soften her heart and do the right and just thing for all of us. We deserve it. Our later days should be our better days.....not this. Written for my mother by her daughter...Imani.

She’s cool and easy to talk to. She gave me time to tell her everything I wanted to say. She’s going to help me get records that my doctors didn’t send in. I don’t know if I won yet but my opinion on her won’t change.

Judge: Wanda L Wright
12/17/2019 1:17:56 AM

Ms Wright took everything I said at the hearing and my medical records and cut it up and place it back together just to be able to find in her favor and then left out the most important part which was x-rays and MRI go figure. It's really bad that these guys get to play GOD over our life, we work hard tear our bodies up just trying to make a living for us and our family and be under paid only to find out that this happens it is just devastating , we all want her salary and be able to cheat someone of something that really is their's they paid into the whole time they work, I hope someone see this and investigates What is going on she clearly cut everything up and spiced it back together so she could deni me, this can't be legal something needs to be done, there is 172000.00 a year reasons why we deserve better.

Judge Harper was awesome! The person I paid to be my representative was a LOSER who didn’t look at my case AT ALL and talked to me for TWO SECONDS but Judge Harper smiled at me and I could tell she had read what my doctors said. She is an angel.

Very unfair judge, assumed alot and thinks he is smarter then 2 neurosurgeons, and an orthopedic surgeon. Has hypothetical jobs that believes you can do that only exist in fantasy land. I truly believe I was denied due to Social Securities under 50 rule and this judge had a chance to do something right and he was a coward and his behind a fake law. Lost alot of respect for the judicial system and think the federal government really needs to do a deep dive in social securities system for every stage of this process. It's the most ridiculous process I've ever been through. It shouldn't take years , Lord knows if you were convicted of a crime.it would take months , or a ticket. Biggest waste of tax paying dollars is these judges and the staff that process these claims.

Judge Harper was very professional and knew my case really well. I was so nervous and started having a panic attack but she calmed me down and talked to me like a real person. Judge Harper was patient and kind. I felt like she really listened to what I had to say. I got my decision in only 2 weeks and I won!

It just seems like to me this judge was determined to deny my disability from the very get go. She had no empathy for me and my condition, and what I have been going through the last past two years leading up to my hearing none whatsoever. She in her unjust decision to deny my disability seemed to go full force to twist all of my statements around against me, and to undercut my disability status and just plain and simple didn't care about me none whatsoever. I hope I never get her as a ALJ over any of my future cases ever again. That's if I have to end up re-filing my whole case all over again.

I had my hearing with Judge Hogan today and it will be several weeks before I know the outcome. I found Judge Hogan to be very business like and professional. I was concerned about this meeting due to some of the reviews on this site that were not in his favor. Even if my claim is denied I will not change my opinion on this matter.

I had judge Larry A. Miller in March 2019. I found him to be professional, compassionate and patient. I saw kindness in his eyes. I don't know what my results will be, but I felt that i was able to be open, honest and express my ailments. I heard he was tough and I was nervous but I called down within 5 minutes in his presence.

She didn't even bother to research my condition. She didn't listen to me when I spoke and that was very clear by the notes in my decision. It is full of inaccurate information about my conditions, hospitalizations, or my medical history. I'm infuriated by her lack of effort as literally a simple visit to the https://rarediseases.info.nih.gov/diseases/10768/hemiplegic-migraine she would have seen how everything she didn't understand was caused by this rare neurological condition that I have a diagnosis for. I'm going to die because she was too apathetic to research my condition or more than 4 years back in my medical history

For some reason, I was a bit nervous, as if I was in a criminal trial! That was very usual for me! But my lawyer presented my medical condition very well and Judge Wright seem to be a very kind and compassionate Judge! Afterward my attorney said to me, "You did OK!" I am trusting the LORD that I will be awarded my benefits! At almost 61 years of age with two bad knees, lower back pain carpal tunnel and arthritis, there is no way I could ever return to doing the hard labor like Landscape Maintenance, installing draperies, and installing auto chrome, etc!

She is not a kind person unless you're caucasian. I'd be curious to see percentages of how many of the applicants she approves are black, how many are white, how many are other ethnicities and their ages.

Judge: William Andersen

I think the reason he takes so long to issue a decision is because he wants to make sure that he has read up and all caught up on your case and carefully considers what conditions may or may not limit you and he doesn't rush, I'd rather have a judge that doesn't rush and make sure he gets it right than to have a judge that rushes and doesn't get it all right, William anderson is a great judge he's also very friendly and honest!

Judge Rideout was by far the most compassionate judge I have ever seen. He was more than fair and listened to me at the hearing. He treated me like a person and not a case number. I was approved so it was well worth the wait for my hearing. After reading horror stories about other Judges, meeting him was refreshing. He was so kind and respectful. I hope others have the same experience in court that I had.

Judge: Wanda L Wright
2/24/2018 2:33:58 AM

I appeared before Judge Wright in Raleigh (2015). The one thing she did that left a lasting impression on me until this day is she truly listens with both a compassionate and an understanding ear. This is such a rare quality seen inside courtrooms, social services and medical professions. She looks at the hard medical facts and weight them against mere medical opinions offered by State medical examiners who see you once in a lifetime and attempt to have your claims denied. I respect this Judge immensely.

Judge: Lisa R Hall
1/23/2018 2:53:36 AM

She seemed just as confused as i was , though she had all the info, then denied the appeal and back dated it 4 years, and they expect a refund though i was not able to drive per a profesional trained brain specialist due to cognitive issues needed eval, which she disagreed with. Was still doing therapy for Traumatic Brain Injury and Vision therapy, and not reached MMI till a year later for orthopedic and multiple other problems after her set date of not being disabled.. she should be fired !!! Cant give any stars but should deserve a box of rocks award... i could care less if she reads this or not.. the way the system is, no wonder so many veterans decide to opt out !!! And where do they get these crack pot specialty doctors anyway? You know they got to be paid off because i didnt even pass the eye exam but his rating was excellent

Thanks to the Good Judges, eventhough i don't remember all their names. The Judges was so Kind that I wish to share my thoughts with them. I wonder at how difficult it is to sort out the really truths from the false truths and everything else that are falses. Because the human head has all the mumbo jumbo complexities. Anyway, I feel that the world , especially the school children , can be much benefit to know and to learn from sicked people and sicked people's own discovery and experiences. Like the saying somewhere that "Trash and roses are important for one another to be sustainable" . (is money is only short-term goal?).

I have known Anne-Marie Acquaah for many many years. She is extraordinarily brilliant. She is quiet and unassuming but listens with extreme intent. As a judge I believe she is as fair and reasonable as anyone could ever expect. Consider yourself lucky because she does care.

I had my hearing with Judge Hogan on April 27. He was very well prepared and I could tell that he researched all my medical records. He was very thorough and asked a lot of questions. He was pleasant to talk to. I found out that I was approved for my disability about eight weeks after my hearing.

7/5/2017 7:14:48 AM

I had Anne-Mar A Ofori-Acquaah she really didn't ask me much and only assumed things. What she did ask made no sense cause I AM THE PATIENT not a expert. So how do I suppose to tell you in a expert way. That was the damn purpose of the lawyer.I'm not going to into anything else cause it won't change my decision or my conditions either. So it is what it is.I'm still optimistic that things will work out for me in the future. Cause I am disabled unlike several others walking round getting checks for damn headaches..Smdh

Judge Taylor is very understanding am glad he was my judge

Judge: Joseph L Brinkley
6/1/2017 3:40:40 PM

He approved me but in the hearing he was unconcerned about my conditions and he tried to use hypotheticals to make the vr lady find me work my lawyer shut that down I figured he would deny but he wrote it up fully favorable

Judge: Robert J Phares
4/3/2017 9:05:02 AM

I saw him for a disabililty case in 2014. My lawyer said the system was weighted against me because I was a middle aged man-they simply don't want to have to pay benefits over a long period of time. I had chronic fatigue syndrome, muscle pain and fatigue, sound and light sensitivity, chronic headaches, anxiety and depression. The guy was a ****. He was very interested in my student loan discharge as if he was building a motive for me to fake disability. He was sloppy in reviewing my records. For example, he ignored my depression medication history and stated that I was noncompliant. Nobody was credible to him-not my doctor, the hired SSA doctors, myself. I appealed and had an evaluation by a neuropsychologist who diagnosed me as somatoform disorder which was an automatic win. I hope Phares comes back as a disabled patient and gets rejected. ****.

Judge: Michelle D Cavadi
2/24/2017 10:33:17 AM

I had read these reviews before having my hearing so naturally I was nervous. The Honorable Judge Michelle Cavadi is not like what people portray her to be. She explained when I first went in that she will not look at me because she is looking at her paperwork and the computer that has all my pertinent information. She asked me questions about my condition. She allowed me to ask any questions at the end of my hearing. I did not think she was rude. She is very knowledgeable in the law. So, don't let bad reviews give you a wrong impression. If people don't get the results they want, they tend to give people bad reviews.

Desperate need of help!
Judge: Wanda L Wright
1/18/2017 12:03:24 PM

I had my hearing on 1/10/2017 I was so thankful to have a Judge that truly listen and gave me a chance to speak. She was very concern about my issues and compassion . I was scare to deaths since I represented myself but I figure can't nobody really speak for me but me ,she made me feel comfortable . Now I can only trust in GOD to work it out. So I can at least get to a doctor. I really don't know how long it takes to make the decision. GOD hears my cry because I'm I. so much pain . They say patience is a virtue ! Please everyone keep me in your payers.

Judge: Larry A Miller
12/11/2016 7:06:47 AM

I was terrified after talking with my lawyer before my hearing because I found out Judge Miller was one of the toughest judges. I just got my approval letter and it went out way! He is very professional does not tolerate nonsense and has compassion. He looks at the whole picture and follows the law. Im sure there are many people that he denies that probably do need the benefits but go in be honest and answer all his questions. He was not as hard as I imagined and he got my answer quickly. He is honestly in my opinion a fair judge and the best. Some people claim but can still work. If your truly can not work he will see that. I personally love him and even after my hearing loved him. He was compassionate, professional, and really cares about the people and his state.

Judge: Larry A Miller
11/27/2016 7:22:40 AM

I guess no judge will ever please everyone, in my opinion Judge Miller is professional and thorough. Obviously every person that has a hearing thinks they're deserving of disability but it's up to the judges to review the medical records and apply the law and come to a conclusion whether or not the person meets the requirements of eligibility. I have no idea what my outcome will be but I feel I had good representation and Judge Miller listened to our case.

bitch DENIED my claim based on a fkn NUMBER in my file she saw BEFORE my hearing started!!! that number she saw was "42". that was how old I was when I hoveled the fk into her "room"! my then attys: Henson Fuerst, they were SHOCKED beyond belief! They had won SSDI cases for clients with LESS wrong with them and next to NOTHING in proof (medical records)! This denial came after 3 fkn years of pain and fighting them! So, here I am YEARS LATER with NO INSURANCE (fkn OBUMMER was a LIAR about the SO-CALLED "ACA"), NO PHYSICAL WAY TO WORK/GO TO SCHOOL (yes, YES!! MY FKN DISABILITIES ARE REAL!!!), BUT! I do have something.... PAIN... PAIN EVERY FKN MINUTE OF EVERY FKN DAY!!! THAT DOES NOT GO AWAY! Sorry for the screaming... so here is what I know: CH was TRANSFERRED OUT of GA's system because she was denying 9 of 10 cases! My then attys: Henson Fuerst, it was their FIRST time in front of her with a case...she kinda just came outta nowhere, it was a switched up calendar and she was given my case at the last minute. I know, weird right! that # though.... 42. in her fkd up mind: "how can a 42 yo mixed race woman be so disabled she cannot work at all?" even when the evaluator (who actually had to REPEAT herself) stated that "...in my 'degenerating' state, none of [my] acquired trades would or ever COULD be an employment option for [me]..."; that glorified white bitch in a black robe still denied my claim. It's sad that ppl have to look at someone's color, make assumptions and TOTALLY SCREW THEIR LIVES UP FOREVER and still be revered as NORMAL. She just gets to bask in her WHITE WORLD brainless bs fkn ppls lives up along the way. COLLECTING to $$$$stufff along the way from all the UNSAVORIES of the world.... but HEY! I'm sure ShesWithHer and that's how THOSE TYPES work isn't it.......

I had judge Harper today, and I was scared going in. She was very nice and listened to my attorney, and then asked me a few additional questions. She asked me if I had anything else to say, and I just said a few sentences to her as to how it RA affects my personal life with my children/husband on a daily basis. She then awarded me a fully favorable decision and said that she wishes me luck in the future and I thanked her. It went a lot better than I had pictured, but I also had a ton of medical records and letters from my doctors supporting me. I also had a fantastic attorney. Thank you again Judge Harper! "Sara"

I found Judge Davis, to be a OUTSTANDING Judge. My hearing was on august 4, 2016. She listened to my attorney and myself. She was compassionate and payed attention to detail to what was explained in my case. At no time she was rude, she was about business.

Judge: Michelle D Cavadi
8/4/2016 2:02:40 PM

She is a nightmare! She only focuses on one thing not your entire case. She is very rude. She is very arrogant, she acts as though she does not even want to be there. She does not have any expertise on the conditions I have and refuses to let you explain them to her.

Judge: Michelle D Cavadi
7/21/2016 5:35:51 AM

A very unfair decision is one that is based on the lowest percentage of facts that count. A judge must consider all facts to be important. Its obvious in our case she was focused on one fact. Along with her lopsided view of our case, her absolute uncaring attitude showed through again, after a appeal was one, ms cavadi showed up with her intent to never be wrong and kept her lopsided, unfair, ratio of denials, right where she wants them.

Judge: James E Williams
7/9/2016 1:22:45 PM

Judge, sucks. Never let me talk except when a question was asked. I was not given a fair judhgement. He treated me like I was waisting his time. 7 years trying to get disability and I am tired. Maybe if I quit taking my medication, I would win.

Judge: James E Williams

Judge: Mason Hogan
5/26/2016 4:03:56 PM

His approval rating speaks for itself. He will nit-pick at facts and words used by the claimant to make it fit his depictions. Moreover, he is very rude and aggressive when it comes asking questions, with lots of eye-rolling. Lose the attitude!

From the time I sat down, she was hostile!! She was worried more of what she "THOUGHT" I did for my 70 year old father that has dementia. He is not handicap & can do for himself. He just has memory issues!! It was all about what she "THOUHT" I was physically helping him!! I'm not physically able to help anyone!! It's had to do things for myself!!She is from the Fayetteville,NC office & should have stayed there! My lawyer & I were stunned by things she said in my "DENIAL DECESION"!!How can you deny a person, when there medical records speaks for itself. She has no heart or compassion for you. She kept cutting me off & not allowing me to finish what she asked me. I pray that she can sleep well at night knowing that you have done me wrong & others with lies, no heart nor compassion. I hate for whom ever has this devil in the black robe. You can expect a denial decision. Oh yea, she became a "DOCTOR" on my case as well. Long as I can breath, I will not give up, I'm a fighter. God's got my back!!

Judge: Catherine Harper

I found that she mocks you for what she bases her opinion and the law. So if. You have had a slow job and coded by their criteria then you are considerd a slow working and thinking person. She asks a lot of questions and one being Do you go to church? She will smile and stab you in the back at the same time. Whether you have a lawyer or not she will find you unfavorable to the most without thinking about it.

12/6/2015 9:07:03 AM

Well I was denied by this judge on 3/6/2015. Since that time, my conditions have gotten worser than what they were when I had my hearing. Actually, I was hospitialized within that same month from 3/28 to 4/8 for major depressive disorder recurrent episode severe, generalized anxiety disorder, vasovagal syncope, & allergic rhinitis. I also got hospitalized again from 5/2 to 5/12 because of major depressive disorder recurrent severe. I was also hospitalized again from 11/26 to 12/3 and this time for bipolar affective disorder depressed severe with psychotic behavior. My pains have also gotten worser because I can't stand or walk for long periods of time without my sides, the lower part of my back, and my right leg hurting. This judges decision on me, I feel was not right. I have all of these problems with me and as the time went by, they just got worse. SO I SAY THANKS TO THIS JUDGE FOR THIS DECISION. NOT. I have also worked and put in the time to recieve my benefits and still didn't get it. SO I HOPE YOU ARE HAPPY WITH YOURSELF CAUSE I'M NOT.

My ALJ Hearing was on 11/12/2015, and my decision was posted today (11/23/2015). That decision is fully favorable. This really made my day. I feel horrible today. I have Bronchitis again, and can not stop coughing to save my life. I lost my voice due to this. I have two doctors appointments tomorrow. Praying I don't have pneumonia. However, after feeling sooooo bad over the last month, today's decision seem to lighten the load. This process has taken a toll on my body, but today the burden has lifted a little. One less thing to stress over; therefore, tomorrow I pray the burdens are lifted even more. I found this judge to be fair and I am not saying this because my decision was fully favorable, but because after the hearing I didn't feel like I was discriminated against. He asked me and my attorney questions. My attorney asked me questions and then he allowed me to say what I wanted to add to the process. The day I showed up at the hearing was not one of my worse days, today is really a bad day for me health wise. He had already reviewed my medical records and knew my autoimmune diseases along with my other conditions. Now, that's a judge doing his job and not getting to comfortable with the process. Just let him know any recent additions to your health problems that may not be in your medical records. Be honest, have integrity, and most of all BE YOU.

This is how it went with her initially. I received letter as a reminder from the first initial contact. I found that my boss had changed my 4 hours of work to another day. I called to postpone hearing when I received reminder. The judges administrative clerk told me to send a letter telling why I wanted it postponed. So I faxed the next day. Received a voicemail that I had to be there. So I called back again and acknowledged that I would be there. I went to initial hearing and signed 2 forms. I will be receiving new date. I talked to an attorney a month ago gave info when his clerk asked so they say they would take care of it and not do anything. Attorneys and judges are all running a racket here anyway.

This guy seemed hostile, like he was angry at myself and my attorney for daring to seek disability benefits after i was medically discharged from the military due to my disorders. I hadn't worked in over 3 years. I have documented medical records detailing my inability to hold a job, or work at all for that matter, I've even been hospitalized because of it, yet it meant nothing to Juan Morrero. Look, there may be some people out there who lie to try to get over on the system, but not EVERYONE who applies for Disability is like that! It disgusts me how much some of these so-called "judges" do not give a damn about people.

This "judge" is a rude, heartless obnoxious individual. Didn't feel i was "crazy" enough to be qualified as disabled even though i was fired from every job i've ever had in my life because of my mental diagnosis. If i were to ever see this asshole somewhere, i'd punch him in his face to see if that's "crazy" enough for him. Thanks Morrero, my family was homeless and out on the streets.

Her numbers speak for this judge as she has the highest denial rate on this office. She likes to play doctor and recommend treatment plans speaking as though her background isn't in law but rather medicine. She gives little to no weight to all VA doctors, treating and evaluating, and doctors outside the VA healthcare system despite case law see McCarty verses Massanari. She also likes to cherry pick through the hypos the vocational expert uses instead of the factual comments the VE states when there is no work available due to your real life disability, not some hypothetical scenario. This judge works extra hard to deny disabled veterans with one hundred percent VA ratings. She clearly doesn't like veterans or respects the VA health care system.

First off Martin is not my real name, but I like it. I have read all of these comments and wonder how many of these cases were ready for prime time. I also wonder how many of these posters had good attorney's. I'm not a fan of the big box attorney's you see on TV taking cases nationwide. I far more prefer a local attorney hungry for a win. I think they prepare better cases. Judge Harper was fair in my case. She asked hard questions and seemed to really want to know the answer. She is well prepared and had read the material. I wonder if getting an unfavorable decision sparked the fire for some of these comments. Again, the Judge I saw (via video) was attentive, polite and again, prepared for the hearing. If you go before this Judge, please make sure your ready and that your attorney is ready. Things will go smoothly if you do. This is my second post.

I had Judge Harper and was treated fairly. Had a fully favorable decision on a case with tons of medical documentation. Also had an attorney that wrote a great brief/summary for the Judge that I'm sure made it easier for her to reach a decision. I know there are some negative comments about this judge, but in my case it was a fair hearing. I'm also aware that not all cases are ready for the judge and that could result in the unfavorable decisions.

There is NO way that this judge approves 56% of the claims she hears. 6% might be accurate, but that would probably be high. There is only one ALJ in the entire State of NC that is anywhere near as incompetent as she is. She will ignore all relevant medical records and testimony and focus on the most ridiculous stuff imaginable. If you get assigned to her, you are better off dismissing your request for hearing and starting over, because you will NOT get approved.

when I had court he denied me, I was so upset, my lawyer was confused because we had all the medical evidence needed. I took the denial hard, it was hard enough to admit that I can no longer work, and that I had issues out of my control within myself not that you could actually see. my emotions get the best of me. so I appealed the decision and waited I got a remand case a year and a half later, it was sent back to this same judge. I was worried because I didn't see him changing his decision, 2nd court he didn't seem interested as he didn't look at me when I talked, his tone was unwelcoming and was definitely sternly. so when I got my ddecision it was in my favor.. i was so happy, finally. So I would have to say overall he is FAIR he might not be the nicest guy but he is fair, I had the medical evidence from different doctors from me moving and they all said the same thing. I am happy he was professional about the remand and herd my 2nd case fairly with no bias (not sure how to spell that)

I guess I seen her on her bad day she was sick and could careless that I had been wobbling around on a torn acl and shattered meniscus and an anckle that also needed surgery same leg for the past 3years unfixed. She told me I was nolonger able 2 do the job I had been doing for 20 years which was food service serving tables or demo samples but I could do a harder more vigorous jobs like laundry attendant or house keeping that included climbing latters and climbing steps while carrying laundry or whatever. I was also told that being manic depressant, ptsd and bipolar wasn't crazy enough. So the bottom line was I worked enough quarters but Im not hurt or crazy enough. May her unwell being is what through her day and mine off or maybe she jus didn't care that I haven't had a god leg 2 work on in 3 yrs.. ooh and BTW they jus fixed my knee this yr and its been damaged and unstable for so long I had to have over 60% of my medial meniscus removed and its not healing well at all so now its taking longer to also fix my foot. So I'll be limping in pain and wobbling for ever. Which will continue to keep me depressed But I don't deserve the money I worked for all these years. I thank Mrs Davis every holiday and birthday I cant afford gifts for my two kids on being Autisic.. SO THANK YOU MRS.KELLY DAVIS FOR MAKING ME AND MY KIDS LIFE A LIVING ****.. 6/3/2014 12:24:11 PM

I had this judge for my hearing and was of course denied. Catherine interrupted my representation while he was talking and said that we needed to wrap it up so she could get to the next case. My lawyer told me that she is the lowest and worst judge that there is. She really needs to be taken off of the bench and all of the cases that she denied need to have the chance of being done again in front of a non-biased and fair judge that will take everything into consideration and not base their decision on what someone else thought. Catherine really messed up my case and falsified information. In addition she committed defamation of character and slander which is most definitely judicial misconduct and against the law. My lawyer has just informed me that he will not take my case any further due to my age. This judge, that is supposed to uphold, enforce, and follow herself, has broken the law, fabricated information, and made great mistakes in my case which ultimately ended up in an unfavorable decision. Now I have to appeal her decision and pray that the Appeals council will take a look at it and they will see how much Catherine Harper lied and falsified information just so that she could deny me. She already had her decision made before I even walked into the room. My hearing was ultimately a waste of time and for show. What goes around comes around. After reading the comments about Judge Perlowski, I was fearful that my daughter's case would be denied, especially since I had completed 3 applications and was denied by each time. However, I had the hearing with him for her case, and I presented the evidence I had available along with what he already had. At the end of the hearing, Judge Perlowski asked me to sign forms stating his office could request additional records, and I did. I waited about 5 months, and I called his office only to find he hadn't received all the records. Within a week of my last call to his office, I received a packet showing he had gotten the records he'd requested, and within 5 additional days, my daughter's case had been approved. I did not experience what the other people who commented here experienced. During the hearing, he was very short and appeared to not even be paying attention, but he was..he had to be in order to see in my daughter what I had been seeing for so many years. I truly appreciate his attention now, and I think he's truly WONDERFUL!

Judge: Wanda L Wright

My only complaint is that it didn't feel personal because my hearing was done by video conference. I believe that a big part of detecting sincerity, or honesty is when you can look a person eye to eye..We couldn't see each other well. She did seem nice and even though I was so terribly nervous, she made me as comfortable as anyone else could..I have already gotten my denial by her, but I know it isn't her fault. She has to consider what input my drs. and the SSA drs. say. And they don't know me. What dr. really knows a person when you sit in the room waiting for an hour to see them, then you feel rushed. You aren't going to say, "Dr., I wish I was dead." They don't really care. Ms. Wright really did listen, but shucks, she didn't take my word.

First of all, to the person who compared the "53% Catherine Harper" to the "24% Catherine Harper": While I congratulate you on your exceedingly rare positive experience with Judge Harper, I respectfully disagree with your glowing review, based on my recent appearance before her as a claimant. I have worked for over half a century, and have endured the mandatory deductions from every paycheck I have ever earned, by the SSA. This arrangement, we are told, is partially to ensure that funds will be available to workers who become disabled, and can no longer work to support themselves. In all fairness to you, I can understand your perspective as a representative OF a disabled person appearing before Judge Harper. You are still employed whether she approves or denies your client's claim, and you still have the means to support yourself. Imagine how you'd feel if you were a disabled person and found out, MUCH to your surprise, that the Judge assigned to decide your case was cold, arrogant, rude, and totally lacking in compassion and understanding. It is unthinkable that a person with the disposition of Catherine Harper would CHOOSE a profession that requires her to make decisions that affect people's lives and futures...since she so obviously holds working class people in such contempt. We are advised to "think before we post" because the judge we are leaving comments about might read them. I humbly submit that perhaps Catherine Harper should "think before she destroys a person's life". If you are reading this, Catherine...remember that no one chooses to be disabled, and we would rather be working and earning a living as opposed to this harsh, cruel reality we are now faced with, a reality of an uncertain future and basic, day-to-day survival because you denied our claim after we have held up OUR part of the bargain. As a representative of the Federal Government, it's your turn to hold up YOUR part of the bargain you made with US....when you took our money all these years and DECADES. If we had pulled a scam like this, we'd all be in a Federal Prison for racketeering.

I believe this judge holds resentment toward some attorneys and that determines the outcome of your case, she throwa out RFC's,and medical evidence for reasons such as she believes doctors are "helping you out" or they "didnt do enough", all her personal nastiness, NOT THE LAW she is suppose to be following. For those of us who have been around awhile, it's interesting that within a year ALJ Harper has gone from a 24% approval rating, with one of the lowest rates in Macon, to one of the highest with 53%. former atty for claimants now an intense, smart, egotistical, opinionated, biased, but very well prepared ALJ known to hold grudges. we had a claimant who had been denied by another ALJ but had since gotten worse and had new severe impairments (cervical DDD, lumbar DDD, depression) which we documented with 2 years worth of treatment and tests (MRIs, etc). At hearing and in decision denying claim, ALJ Stam ignored the new problems and acted like claimant made it up. ALJ interruppted questioning by me saying she had already covered that topic, but she had not really. Absolutely astonishing....I was searching for information about Catherine Harper in order to discover if she treated others the same way she treated me, and I see that I wasn't her first victim.....and probably won't be her last. I'm sorry all you folks in Georgia had to endure appearing before this maniac, and you'll be relieved to learn that she's been transferred to Raleigh, NC. Apparently, I was one of the first few here to have the misfortune to appear before her. She was arrogant, rude, hateful, snide, and EXTREMELY abusive to me AND my lawyer. I had already decided to make it a new hobby of mine to have her removed from the bench even BEFORE I knew if she would deny my claim! Of course, she denied my claim, and twisted the statements on my claim as well as what I said at my hearing...even calling Tramadol an "over the counter medication" after asking me at the hearing where I got it, and me telling her "from a doctor's prescription". Just before my hearing, my lawyer warned me that "She seems to have a bubbly, vivacious personality, but word has it she's a Battleaxe!" As a person who has worked and paid into Social Security since the early 70's, I had an expectation to AT LEAST be treated with dignity and respect at my hearing. The research I have conducted so far indicates that she treats younger people like me (I'm 51) like DIRT, even CRIMINALS who are trying to scam the system! I was on my second dose of Tramadol when I appeared in her courtroom, which left me completely unable to think fast enough to counter the barrage of hostile questions. Fortunately, the medication I was on probably saved me from ejection from the hearing, as well as being arrested for suggesting the optimal internal location for her gavel. This "judge" is not fit to impartially make decisions that can determine a person's future, and should be removed from the bench....I've seen Pitbulls with more compassion, and rattlesnakes with more empathy, than this egotistical, black-hearted witch! God help those who have the bitter misfortune to have their SSD claims decided by Cathrine Harper.........a true menace to society, and the bane of common decency.

Are these people talking about the same person I see all the time?!?! I understand why folks do have that opinion though. To his credit, he is very pleasant, and does show compassion when people are in pain. HOWEVER, if you get him, you have less than a 50/50 shot of getting approved---and I'm sorry, that's not good to me. I do not know too many reps who thinks he's that wonderful wrt to the claims he approves. But perhaps, other reps may have better luck with him but he is nowhere on the ranking wrt to judges you want to hear your claim at this office. Again, he'd seem fun to have a beer with, he's funny too. But if you need him to preside over your disability case, oh no... chances are slim!

Lost my case and hope to God Almighty I don't get her again after filing my appeal - not impressed - she need to go back where she came from -

he is the worst judge on the board he needs to be fired!

Judge: Catherine Harper
12/7/2012 2:26:37 PM

I've always found Judge Harper to be very nice and quite reasonable. She asks the tough questions, but it's because she's actually taken the time to read all of the medical records. I like her.

Judge: Robert J Phares
12/7/2012 2:13:45 PM

I've always found him to be very fair and kind.

Judge: Robert J Phares
11/29/2012 7:18:33 PM

This is a follow up to my review submitted on 5/22/2012. I won on a remand following appeal but I am very suspicious it was because I requested two senators follow the case to keep Phares honest. With the flashlight of oversight on him his second determination, in my favor, suddenly admitted that evidence I had submitted previously(letters from witnesses and past medication history) was now relevant. Neuropsychological testing which proved I had a somatoform disorder trumped the state hired disability psychiatrist Meymandi who said there was nothing wrong with me mentally. If you don't have objective lab testing/physical findings proving you are sick according to established criteria you don't have a chance of winning.

Judge: Kelly Davis
11/16/2012 1:30:30 PM

She is such a cutie, with true joy in her heart. She cares very much about the claimants who appear before her and does her best to get them a decision as soon as possible. We need more like this hard working judge.

Judge: Edward W Seery
11/15/2012 1:43:46 PM

This judge shows he loves his job. He looks riight at you and asks many good questions. He denied my case, but I got a fiar shake from him. No complaints

Very Friendly and pleasant Judge who listens very well and allows you the opportunity to speak and who I believe genuinely cares about your situation. Had my hearing on 11/02/12 and awaiting my decision.

He's very nice, funny, and not very favorable.

Judge: Ralph P Dodds
10/15/2012 5:28:33 AM

RIP Judge Dodds. He demonstrated many qualities that all Judges should have. He was patient and actually showed he was interested in the lives and medical problems of the people who appeared before him. When they seemed to be nervous or got confused, he would make gentle little jokes that were not sarcastic or argumentative, to put people at ease. He could ask follow up questions without showing annoyance or impatience. He certainly did not approve all claims, but he treated the claimants whose cases he heard with respect, as people with problems rather than just another file to be processed. He interacted with the claimant's attorneys in a professional way.

LOL. If the stakes weren't so high for our clients she would be comical. She is Delores Umbridge from the Harry Potter series

Judge: Angela Miranda
10/1/2012 2:06:28 PM

I've been in front of MANY ALJs that were MUCH worse than Judge Miranda. She can get tempramental at times, but for the most part she is very reasonable. She asks the rep if they want to give an opening, then asks the claimant about PRW, asks the VE to be ready to categorize the work when the time comes, asks the rep to go ahead with questioning, she will follow up with questions, will ask if the rep has any other follow up questions, then goes to the VE. She is very hard to read, though. She presents a hypo that results in jobs, then 3 or 4 that result in no jobs, so it's hard to know if she's thinking of paying or not except for the fact that she rarely pays! Very unfavorable.

Judge: Mason Hogan
9/24/2012 5:09:29 AM

Mr. Hogan when he was a lawyer with Kathleen Glancy law firm in Wilmington NC helped me get my disability. I found out 4 years later that I did not get the proper payout. I spent 4 years not getting the medical help I needed for my disability, scrubbing toilets and floors, eating meagerly, not socializing, selling jewelry, etc. Social Security reimbursed me the monies not paid to me and I just received a letter I no longer qualify for medicaid part D which will cost me $600 a month. I get enought from social security to pay for my home only. Any thing else I have to have a job for.....food, electric, utilities etc which is about a minimum of $800. I have been trying to do this against all odds. It is like I was in jail for a crime I did not commit. Glancy says that their firm had nothing to do with it. I have emails to the contrary and Mr. Hogan knows that the information he gave me was incorrect. I say as you sleep comfortable in you warm safe home at night to own up oand pay me for damages.

Catherine harper is evil my condition kekeeps me from working.if I could I would but I have no choice and she denied me. I hope something be done about the way she is handling these cases .catherine I hope you never have to come in contact with a person that is evil like you

Judge: Wanda L Wright

She was very fair and knowledgeable as well as being very pleasant and accommodating to me my CL (I'm a non-atty Rep).

Judge: Catherine Harper
9/12/2012 6:28:53 AM

The SSA promises claimants a non-adversarial hearing. Webster defines that as friendly, hospitable, nonantagonistic, nonhostile, sympathetic. Judge Harper has no concept of what that means. The best judges are the ones who have learned how to deny cases that need to be denied who still hold truely non-adversarial hearings.

This man is very good. He really knows what is going on with you. My layer said I was real lucky to have him because the others aren't that good like this man. He talked to my like a freind. I hope I get a good report from him.

Judge: Edward W Seery

Judge Seery is the best judge ever. My case was yesterday, August 28th at 10:00 a.m. and he approved my SSD...I am so happy and thrilled with the outcome. He is amazing and I thank God for him!!!!

Judge: Edward W Seery

Bad experience with this Judge. My decision letter was full of wrong facts. It seemed prepared by a third party.

Judge: Wanda L Wright
8/17/2012 6:41:47 PM

Definitely agree with previous comments on attitude and mannerisms.

Judge: Angela Miranda
8/17/2012 12:04:31 PM

Judge Miranda is probably one of the worst ALJs I have been in front of. If there is any errors in your file she will blame you and call you out on it in front of your client. She claims that Social Security never makes any mistakes and that evidence placed in your exhibit file had to be put there by you. She will tell you that Social Security has no plausible way to make a mistake about exhibiting your file. What a crock of total BS. She is hateful, rude, and lacks any sort of judicial tact. How she got on the bench is beyond me. She should be removed.

Judge: Katherine D Wisz
8/17/2012 6:36:12 AM

Judge Wisz is a very intelligent and professional judge. She is always well prepared and is courteous to the claimants and representatives. She is one of the best judges in the agency.

Judge: Larry A Miller
8/13/2012 9:19:06 AM

This judge has one care, that is to lie and do whatever he can to deny benifits to people whom are disabled to the point of not being able to work and support themselves. I am one of his victims. In court he admitted there were no jobs avaiable that I could do, but in his report he stated there were many jobs I could do, but I have been evaluated by doctors and been to work centers, and there are no jobs I can do especially full time to make a living. So I will starve or have to steal to feed myself. I wonder whom the oppress should target? Look at this man's record through the years. He has continually had a carear goal of approving less aned less cases. This man is not fit to be doing this type of work. He has no care about his fellow human beaings and he is a demonic oppressor full of hate, lies and deceipt. He needs to be fired immediately before he kills more and more of our fellow citizens spreading his hate, and only concern for himself.

Judge: Mason Hogan
7/31/2012 8:19:28 AM

Its nice to have a Judge who will listen and understand and make decision on a case by case basis win or lose. He is fair and impartial and all around a great guy you would like to know in or off the bench!!!

Judge: Joseph L Brinkley
7/20/2012 8:43:39 AM

Whoever left the above message should have waited until they were denied. He's really nice, and extremely random in his decision. Impossible to tell if he will approve or deny until the decision is in writing!

Judge: Juan C Marrero
7/18/2012 9:38:27 AM

This judge is erratic and likely suffers from an affective disorder. There are days when he displays a coherent and linear thought process, others when he lacks logic and has bouts of spontaneous rage. His decisions depend on which end of rapid cycling is in play at the time, but either way rarely have any relation to the law or the facts. Impossible to prepare your client for this judge's demeanor.

Judge: Angela Miranda
7/3/2012 7:34:50 PM

This is way more helpful than aytnhing else I've looked at.

Judge: Catherine Harper
6/1/2012 7:43:34 AM

she denied my husband. he is blind in one eye from diabetes.he can hardly walk on his left foot from surgery. he sleeps alot from the medication. he has worked all his life and was at his last job 25 years. She treated him as if he never worked and was just someone wanting a check. although i wasn't in the courtroom i could hear her outside. she seems very rude and loud. she didn't want to listen to him talk or explain anything. i hope she never becomes disabled. if she does it would probably be from not being able to sleep at night.

Judge: Robert J Phares
5/22/2012 6:01:54 AM

Phares is a biased judge. In reviewing my case he failed to do proper credibility testing and cherry picked evidence to deny the case. This included dismissing my doctor's testimony and statements from witnesses. He seemed particularly interested that I had gaps in my employment and seemed mad that he couldn't just disqualify me for not earning money. There must be a circle in **** for disability judges. I don't know how they can sleep at night.

Judge: Catherine Harper
5/10/2012 7:37:44 PM

I found Judge Harper to be very thorough and fair. She afforded me all the time we needed to discuss my case.

Havent received a decision on my case but hopefully he approved me!

Judge: Catherine Harper
4/22/2012 3:40:59 AM

I agree with all the above comments, I went before her via video conference and she was very rude. She acted as though I was lying to her about my medical and mental conditions. When I received my denial letter its like she took everything I said and twisted it. I really don't believe that she read any of my medical or mental records. She also stated after VE testimony that I can't go back doing my previous jobs but I can do other jobs which would very much be a strain on me because of my medical condition. How crazy is that? She really need to be removed from the bench because she does not have any sympathy for others I really hate it if she ever becomes disabled and faced with the same problem.

Judge: Catherine Harper
4/16/2012 7:00:48 PM

Catherine harper is very rude. My social security is in the appeal process because she didnt take the time to acknowledge my disabilities.

Judge: Edward W Seery
