This ALJ, Nancy Berryhill (acting as head of SSA) and R Trent McCotter, US Asst Atty crossed the judicial immunity threshold. These public servants decided, on their own, that the State of Virginia would not recognize an out of State Common Law marriage. To add insult to the injury that barred a Constitutional right, they say it is repugnant to society and compared it to bigotry. The Eastern District Court disagreed with the nonsense, Virginia WILL recognize an out of State common law marriage. This needs to be addressed within the Social Security Administration, they knew or should have known. The physical and psychological impact of discrimination is well documented.

I went in front of Judge Mantel and she was very kind! I had a very bad migraine and wasn't feeling well at all, and she was very understanding! My anxiety was sky high entering the court, but she helped me feel at ease. I couldn't have asked for a better judge!

I was told by my lawyer that the judge I got wasn't the best and when I went in to the court room she had a look of disdain on her face like I was bothering her being there. Then she asked ****** questions like how many pets I have and how I cared for them when I live with husband who does the major work, why did I file for SSD when I was getting unemployment as I was let go due to my disability cause I couldn't type, which the OVR guy said I could go back to work and do same thing and i flunked a online typing test. and the big thing we had to fight Greentree traffic to be there at 8 am so we left at 645 to get thru into Pgh so we were way early and husband dropped me at burger king about a block away then we walked to fed bldg after having a breakfast there and it took awhile as I had to stop n rest a couple times on my knee, ankle and back. She couldn't get it thru her head that we were early and I didn't want to sit on exterior steps till it opened with a bad back. After this whole ordeal she turned me down and then I found out if I appealed that decision shed get that appeal and more than likely turn it down again. So I eneded up reapplying and lost 3 yrs of time....and $.

Judge: Amy Budney

Had my hearing December 7th with Amy Budney. I felt like she really listened to my issues and smiled which made me feel much more comfortable in answering her question. She was kind and companionate. My lawyer helped me through as well in keeping me comfortable throughout the hearing. I was really happy about my hearing. I don’t know if I’m approved yet, but I must say that my hearing was way better than expected. Amy is a great judge.

yes it's such a process...and I wish I could do it again.. I keep thinking of important things I should have said but was very anxious and felt like I shouldn't babble on and on :( and she only asked me thre questions which I found strange, talking to other people who were questioned for almost an hr...and her record on here is the lowest so I am not very hopeful with my outcome. But I do have to say She was very different than I expected after reading the posts on here. She seemed very nice.

Judge: Leslie Perry- Dowdell
10/2/2017 8:17:27 PM

To anonymous post of 9/28/17. I went through that exact problem and thinking as you. I was in front of judge Valaskavich. I wasn't nervous but have trouble thinking when the pain is bad. Mornings are the worst. She seemed to understand that without me having to say it, and the struggle it has been waiting to hopefully get approved. Again I did not tell her of any of my struggles. Utilities threaten to be shut off every month and so much more. That makes it so hard to deal with the depression because I always worked hard to pay for everything and now even if I get turned down, still can't work any job. So prayers to you and all people who really have to get approved!

I posted yesterday about my hearing... after thinking about it there was so much more I wanted to say and could have said but I was nervous and my anxiety was starting to overcome me so now I fell like I did not do well because of it, I would hope the judges realize how hard it is to answer questions under nervousness anxiety and pain. :(

Judge: Michael C Blanton
6/14/2017 8:48:37 AM

My hearing went before ALJ Blanton one week ago and I found him to be very kind. As I was getting settled, he even made a couple of witty jokes that helped me calm down and see him as a man instead of a prosecutor. It also seemed apparent the Judge Blanton reviewed my file ahead of time, based on the questions he asked me and what he asked the employment expert. Overall, my experience was good. ALJ Blanton showed everyone in the room kindness and respect. Most importantly, he demonstrated what and why the bailiff calls out, "The HONORABLE judge...".

Judge: Jan Leventer
5/18/2017 7:28:32 AM

I was approved by telephone, Judge Leventer phoned my attorney and told him for me not to come to court that she approved my case, well this was back in January 27, 2017, and I still have not received an award letter, back pay, or payments. We have written her twice that we are in dire need and we are losing our home. No one seems to care! I have called Social Security office numerous times and they have no clue!

Judge: Richard Horowitz
10/7/2016 5:37:33 PM

My wife saw judge Horowitz & felt that the interview went well, and that he seemed sympathetic to her pain and mobility issues. When the decision came back denied, the report showed that he had a poor understanding of her case and was clearly not so sympathetic. He painted her as a malingerer ("Why is she using a walker when I see no script for one?" he asked, despite the fact that you don't need a script for a walker & I guess a self sufficient e.r. nurse who tries to handle things on her own gets a black mark against her for it.) and openly asked (rhetorically) on paper why she wasn't taking narcotic pain meds if her pain was so bad. The record clearly states that she has an allergy to opiates, so his reading comprehension is not so hot. If he actually wondered about it, why didn't he ask her himself, or maybe read the record. I think we need a better lawyer & a different judge before we go back for a second round of 'Let's add insult to injury in the Federal Disability Court.' I give him 1 star for being kind to my wife to her face, but he loses 4 for poor reading comprehension, poor decision making, and backstabbing.

7/29/2016 4:48:21 PM

Hi I'm mr Boudreaux. I had to go infront off judge Marry Guttuso 7/27/16. For a 18 wheeler accident me and my Grand Mother was in volved in. I was pleased how she asked about my grandmother and how was she doing. She was very compassionate and told me to stand up if needed because she understood my pain i am going thru. Only thing that was weirded was the VE said I was hypothetically able to work a dish washing job or office work. Which I can not perform do to sleepy medications, and weak back muscles I learned something new today about compassion and understanding others do have .

Judge: Jonathan Eliot
7/13/2016 3:12:22 PM

What a waste of judge. Doesn't listen to you or read what your doctor has sent him. Didn't listen to the VE. The VE stated there are no jobs I could do and yet he still turned me down. I thought it was a robot sitting at the judge's stand where a real person should have been. Devoid of any personality. Try to avoid him if you can.

Judge Dianne S Mantel is as fair a Judge as you can hope to have for your case. She will listen to you and gives you every opportunity to make you case. I can say this. If you deserve to be approved she will approve you. If you deserve to be Dismissed or Denied she will do so. Remember, you have to have a lawyer. She is an Excellent Judge.

Judge: Michael C Blanton
3/30/2016 9:06:51 PM

What a day, anxiety was high and emotional is an understatement. Mr. Blanton was truly understanding and gave me time to compose myself after the tears, anxiety and emotional outburst. He was very understanding and patient with me. I wait to hear my decision via mail but I felt he was very fair and had compassion.

Judge: Leslie Perry- Dowdell
2/27/2016 11:13:53 AM

This judge does not look at everything I had letters from Drs saying I could not work , she said I was getting better. Which is not true, she looked at stuff that did not Protane to my cause and used it can't understand English. I feel I was wrong color and never had a chance because I was white.

Judge: Jonathan Eliot
2/14/2016 6:12:03 AM

A very nice man. He asked many questions concerning my disability and other health problems I didn't list on my application. He was very compassionate when I broke down and gave me time to get myself back together to answer more questions. When it came to the VE listing jobs I could preform, it felt like the judge was on my side when he kept reminding her of my restrictions. By the end the VE had no jobs I could do. The judge then stated that I would hear from him in written form. The only thing I wish is he could of give me an answer right there. I hope that the reason I have to wait is for him to take a closer look at my records. It's been a long journey to this point

Judge: Richard Horowitz
1/7/2016 5:26:49 PM

This is a very good judge he takes his time and make sure that when he make a decision on your case he does it right and correct I would recommend anyone that goes in front of him that the wait is well worth it

Judge: Mary Sparks
12/4/2015 10:25:51 AM

I have not gotten approved at this point but I felt compelled to write that Judge Mary Sparks was compassionate and patient as well as understanding. I think, whether approved or not, this judge is one in a million and Social Security is fortunate to have her as well as the people that come before her for judgement. Wonderful person indeed. Thank you your honor for being such a humanitarian.

Judge: Jonathan Eliot
10/12/2015 11:39:43 AM

This guy is the poster child for the new "model" ALJ ODAR has hired, i.e. robotic in demeanor; devoid of any emotion during the hearing; asks an inordinate number of questions, many of which aren't necessary/non-sensical and/or irrelevant to the underlying issues; and seemingly euphoric when he goes to great lengths to slam a claimant's credibility in his hearing decisions.

Judge: Leslie Perry- Dowdell
9/11/2015 6:08:29 AM

SSD is not taken lightly by this Judge. She is confident and reviews her cases well. The administration could use more judges like her. Social Security awards cannot be given away, they must be given to those who truly need them. Thank you Judge for representing the taxpayers well.

Judge Gattuso is competent, courteous, and professional. I had my first hearing with her today. I don't know if my client will be approved but I am confident that the judge knows the law, the issues and the facts of this claim. I appreciated her insight and courtesies.

Judge: Ryan Glaze
7/30/2014 1:48:12 PM

Judge Glaze's statistics pretty much say it all. He tows the new agency line of keeping pay rates low regardless of the facts. He has ZERO compassion for the individuals who appear before him and treats them with disdain during their hearings. He appears to have already made up his mind prior to a hearing and then manipulates testimony to support his conclusions.

Can you explain, without using the word: CORRUPTION, or mentioning crooks, ie Debra Bice, Carolyn Colvin, Sherry Thompson, David Thompson et al., why a 100% Service-Connected DISABLED veteran, who hasn't been gainfully employed since honorable discharge 1987 would be denied ssdi benefits ? Do you think the SSA has more criminals employed than does the VA ? Have you blown the whistle on any of the crooks you see at the SSA ?

Judge: Steven J Neary
4/10/2014 12:51:16 PM

Judge Neary, My name is Amanda Wroblewski. You granted me SSDI benefits starting October4, 2008. Their were some changes in the status of my situation, which I did report, How ever, Due to a clerical error, my information wasn't processed properly. Now I have been back and forth fighting with man who took away my benefits 11 months later. I have asked for waivers, He denied all of them, I have appealed his decision, He didn't care. I filed a complaint of my civil and disability rights, and I have no idea what happened now this has been going on since 2008. Denied, appeal, waiver, you name it I followed it through. I did manage to send in lost information that I did work in 2006, 2007 and 2008. The IRS is fully aware. I was accused of receiving benefits on my son who is Autistic, Which you denied him of those benefits. I'm asking you to please re-instate me. At least that's what I was told in 2009. You were the Judge on my son's case, as well as mine. I saw you 4 times, finally You approved. Can you over ride his decision this representative who works at my SS local office. He's a secretary. Judge Stalbrink, and a Federal Court Judge Harry C.Dees Jr. agree, and now I'm asking you for your help. This has gone on long enough. Yes my son is still Autistic and lives with me and for me, well I've gotten worse. There was no reason for him to bully over $540.00. I'm not the one who failed to put the information in the computer correctly. And I'm sorry, I don't think I should have to start all over. But only you can over ride there decision, to have me re-instated, since you were the Judge assigned to my case. Sincerely, Amanda J Wroblewski. Please

They have found me disabled but they claim its not total disable its only partially disable,,,What part is that? Diagnosed with Major Depressive disorder and other disorders as well but,,they say Im invested in being sick how does someone do that. 2 years Ive been getting federally funded as well as federally funded run around. I take prozac and trazdone Do people have a clue what I take them for. This has been my experience Take your meds and good luck,,wow some country we live in Aint no help or hope for folks like myself,,Im doomed. Jeff Spence Atlanta Ga. God bless humanity

I haven't gotten my decision yet, But this judge was very nice. She made things go real easy. I was a nervous wreck before hand but she made me feel comfortable in no time. No pressure, just pleasurable and business like. I'm hoping to win, of course, but either way I felt she handled things well. I had a hard time holding still in the court room, I was very anxious and nervous but she was calm and very nice which in return made me calm down some too!

Judge: Paul Reams
5/30/2013 2:19:23 PM

I'm a rep and have had one hearing with ALJ Reams. He appears to be early 60's is one of the most pleasant gentleman I've appeared before. He takes time to explain some basics to the claimant. He asks Rep for an opening statement and listens attentively. He questions the claimant in a general way, covering past work, impairments, symptoms and functional problems. Let's rep follow up. As he explained, he usually asks a range of hypos to the VE covering limitations that both allow work and would prevent work. He allows rep to give closing argument if desired. He is very nice, very respectful to all involved and seems quite fair in his consideration of the evidence.

Judge: Earl Ashford

2/10/2013 3:15:11 PM

former atty for claimants now an intense, smart, egotistical, opinionated, biased, but very well prepared ALJ known to hold grudges. we had a claimant who had been denied by another ALJ but had since gotten worse and had new severe impairments (cervical DDD, lumbar DDD, depression) which we documented with 2 years worth of treatment and tests (MRIs, etc). At hearing and in decision denying claim, ALJ Stam ignored the new problems and acted like claimant made it up. ALJ interruppted questioning by me saying she had already covered that topic, but she had not really. [I was asking specific Qs about Claimant's trouble using her hands]Then stopped my Qs of VE on same topic. AC upheld her denial withou comment.

Judge: Yvonne K Stam
1/29/2013 9:32:58 AM

Very nice, very helpful, used a vocational expert half the time, but she is old school. Ask some questions but not in order, and does not ask all, you have to be on your toes.

Judge: Leslie Perry- Dowdell
1/22/2013 11:19:11 AM

This judge is clearly consistent. She has the lowest rate of approval of any judge in the state and within minutes of my hearing commencing I didnt need a crystal ball to tell me she was going to turn me down, her body language, attitude, questions and tone of voice made it clear to me she was going to reject my claim despite the physician I was sent to who had experience evaluating these cases telling me after my exam that he saw no reason that I did not easily qualify for disability benefits. When my attorney appealed we ended up back in front of her. Totally absurd.
