Judge: Wayne Stanley

Judge Stanley actually listens to your testimony and his impartiality comes through. When my attorney failed to cross examine the vocational expert who testified in support of denying benefits, Judge Stanley asked the questions that my attorney should have asked. He could have just accepted the testimony at face value, but he probed in order to understand whether their testimony was truly relevant to my case. I was told by my attorney to expect it to take two to three months to receive his ruling. Three days later, his order was in my mailbox approving my benefits. He appeared to me to be a very fair and compassionate individual. I'm not saying this simply because he ruled in my favor. When I left his courtroom, before I knew what his decision was I told my attorney that regardless of the outcome, I at least felt like I was heard and that my hearing was conducted in a very fair manner so I could accept his decision workout feeling as if he was just going through the motions before rubberstamping another denial.

We met with Judge Grovich in Erie Pa this past monday for our daughter who has multiple challenges. Long story short and regardless of what the outcome is which we do not know, that is the reason im posting this now. Judge Grovich was very kind and listened. Trying to help your children in life who have disabilities and going through the process for SSI is so difficult and challenging and beyond frustrating. But the kindness and respect he showed along with listening was something i will not forget . The system is horrible but when you go thru the process and get to a hearing having a Judge like this should be recognized. Again we have no determination but the demeanor and overall time that was taken to talk with my daughter and myself made the lengthy emotional process something that i feel we can finally get a honest answer to.

The judge did not take into account what I had to say. He wad very rude. If I could give him a million 0 stars I would. He should be banned from being a judge altogether. Judges who preside overy mental health cases need to have a better understanding of what mental illnesses are and how it affects people in their day to day life instead of the bullshit that they say. Mental Illness not only affects that person but the people living with them spouse. Not everyone with mental illness is married to someone who has a mental illness and my spouse is one of them. He does not have any mental illness and is of a very high IQ. Me having a mental illness is at times hard for him to deal with but at the end of the day he is still there and not going anywhere. Just like for example someone with cancer that is something that is a cronic medical condition... mental health is the same way. Mental illness is where you mentally have a disease that you have good days and bad days and most of the time the bad days that you have inside of your head affects you negatively constantly 24/7. You have your ups and downs... but mostly downs. Mental illness is a disease that can not be seen that is why people who don't have a mental illness judges people that do have a mental illness just like judge John Porter. I am using his name because I feel that he needs to be fired. I did everything that social security asked of me to and made sure he had everything he needed. I called all the time to make sure they had everything they needed. I also had doctors that said that I needed to stay on disability. I had mental health doctors who said that and he said what they said does not carry any weight... but instead get a job as a housekeeper which there are 20,000 jobs nationwide... or get a job as some kind of inspector where there are only 3,500 jobs nationwide. Get the **** out of here. If you are about to have this judge preside over your disability case I would automatically expect to be denied way before your court hearing.

I am an Iraq combat veteran with a purple heart and a 100% disability rating from the VA for severe PTSD. I had several hearings before joanna papazekos and from the very first one, it was clear that she neither understood PTSD nor apparently believes it is a disability. When I returned from Iraq in 2006, I was diagnosed with severe PTSD by a private practice Psychiatrist in Pittsburgh and then began long-term treatment with a licensed Psychologist. When I had my first meeting with judge papazekos, I had been in continuous therapy for 11 years. At the hearing I presented written summaries from my original Psychiatrist, the Psychologist I saw for 11 years and a third Psychologist who I recently started seeing. In addition, I presented the Veterans Administration decision indicating I was 100% disabled from PTSD. I also presented evidence of being unable to work due to severe mood swings and evidence where I had tried to work part-time at a local Home Depot but had to quit due to triggered reactions I had at work. I had overwhelming evidence showing the severity of my disability problems, however, joanna papazekos did not take any of that evidence seriously. She denied my application for disability status. I can only conclude that she either 1. knows nothing about PTSD and its effects; or 2. harbors a resentment and/or feeling of discrimination against Veterans.

This judge was rude, and even insulting. dragged me through appeals for 5 years even after her first denial of me was remanded. Her vocational expert even told myattorney after a hearing that my case was in the bag, yet she still denied me. Gave no credibility to my dr's, Psychiatrist, numerous meds i'm on, or ER visits. I had to refile because of her. If I would get her again, I don't know what i'd do. This woman should be A prison guard, not someone supposed to judge fairly on poor health.

This man makes you feel so relaxed and that he really cares and then he turns around and takes everything you say out of context. My fiancé can't even lift a gallon of milk because his shoulders are so bad after two failed replacements but because he can water a garden and do a few light house chores he said he can work eight hours a day. Now after eight years of SSD he has to find a job he can do. Financially ruined us with one swipe of a pen. Look out if you get him.

I don't even have the words that would adaquately describe the gratitude I have for the unbelievable compassion this man showed me at my ssi hearing. I've been disabled with chronic phlebitys and and many other debilitating ailments but my documentation was scattered at best. This judge took a lot of time weeding through my years of hospitalization and In his final decision some how managed to see through through all the red tape and do the humane thing. He knew money wouldn't solve my problems but also knew it would provide me with the respect I needed to die with dignity. This man changed my life, what little l May have. He also may be responsible for actually saving my life because I wanted to die prior to my hearing. He gave me hope which is just what I needed my only regret is that I can't repay his kindness may God in heaven please bless this man. Love and best wishes.

This man was so gentle and kind during the hearing. Very accomodating, and seemed to be a person who listened, and seemed careful to get the testimony accurate. He gets one star for his kindness during the hearing. I received my hearing determination today. Everything I told him I can't do anymore, due to cataplexy (seizure like episodes) he says that I said that I can do these things. This is completely opposite my testimony. Not accurate at all. He even states I'm capable of going to the store on my own and spending time with family. When I clearly told him I can't drive more than about 30 minutes with Narcolepsy and only drive when I'm for fact certain I won't be a danger to anyone. This judge wrote my determination based on, and in his writing, the complete opposite of what was testified. This man obviously has no care for accuracy, or to award benefits to those who really need them. Just another example of our government being complete crooks, and leaving deserving proven disabled folks out to dry. I won a previous hearing in Dallas Tx.a few years prior, but worked as long as I physically could until my condition has worsened immensely. This is a total insult to me, an insult to my honesty, and integrity, and all the years of forcing myself to work because I never wanted to be a man who took handouts. But I expected my paid in benefits to be available in my time of need. The USA just said F-U Tim. Suffer peasant. I've lost every bit of faith in the US Government. We'll see how long it takes for my conditions to get me to mental illness. Then we'll see if I just happen to do anything Rash,or resort to 30 minutes to an hour of violence before I need a nap. Then wake up after an hour or so for another 30 min to an hour madness spree, since I've been fighting this corrupt system for 6 long years now. The Social Security system does not work. It leaves truely disabled people without benefits, yet complete faker , scammers get benefits without hassle at all. A disgrace.

The first above review uses the same exact language as the fourth review, and the second review is from his brother, smell fishy? It should this clown created the "FIT" which is the template all ALJ's use to deny qualified applicants with illegal boilerplate language. This man surely is responsible for many of the average of 18,000 people who die each year waiting to qualify, and he knows it, and thinks were all just dumb and will never catch on. These are his thoughts given before the Ways and Means Committee. 1. (Your illness) "There are many impairments that, with medical treatment, should not only improve but disappear". 2. (Actually doing his job) "This high burden of making a legally sufficient denial decision has, in my opinion, adversely affected timeliness and decision making". 3. (Your right to a federal hearing) "-this rigorous court oversight has unduly influenced policy and complicated decision making". This guy really see's Claimants as numbers, things, and there are just too many of us, and he has come up with a solution with finality. He makes over $250.000, plus benefits a year, all of which we pay for, and we don't even get the decency of a train ride, and gas chamber. Were just left by the side of the road, that we as well payed for, to die miserably. Just read the above comments again and know that obviously he and his brother are behind them. The 14th amendment is nothing more than a piece of toilet paper to him, and we are all nothing more than widgets.

Worst Judge ever forced me to withdraw my appeal and wasted additional time I orginally had a hearing in june and could not get a lawyer he granted me a continuance for september well I did get a lawyer like the daefore nevertheless forced me to withdraw my appeal, on the grounds of the 4 denials (where none of them I was allowed to bring in witnesses nor question any one all 4 times) in addition to forcing the with draw he again refused to allow my witness in the hearing room as soon as I can find out how to press charges in this so called ALJ I am and I am demanding this ALJ be removed from office imedately mind you I am attempting to get records all the way back to 1982 that have proven that I have had some sort of disability since the age of 6 I do re4quest that David H Winkle (principal New Horizon School Sept 1990 to May 1994) be supeniaed and made to verify the statement recomending a 302 for a peroid of 30days and the many times they called the police on me due to my disability

I feel sorry for anyone that has this judge. I received my denial letter after my hearing. He flat out lied in the report to justify his decision. He reported that my daughter(actually niece) no longer has her disability which she does. He also made reference to getting a report from her speech teacher. She has never and still to this day has never had a speech teacher. He also made reference to her being in preschool when she was 7 years old as well as a kindergarten pretest which he did not have because my daughter did not live with me until her second year of kindergarten was half over and she lived in a different state. Will be seeking professional counsel regarding this case.

Judge Pileggi might appear slightly intimidating at first, but in actuality, he is a nice man and is clearly knowledgeable about the requirements and standards used. He develops a pretty good conversational style with Claimants and is very good to new representatives. He knows exactly what questions he wants to ask, and his hearings finish pretty early as a result.

I was not happy with my client's outcome but he provided an interesting hearing, lots of questions on esoteric matters. I thought a real jurist but sometimes a little odd. Late note:I just got a response to my post hearing memo and he reversed himself. He communicated with me by email and said he was impressed with my memo and reconsidered, giving the benefit of the doubt to the claimant. Go figure.

I note that Judge Marks numbers for 2010 were only for 10 months as he retired at the end of October. On that basis his numbers don't look too good for claimants but if you look at his numbers in Cleveland where was the HOCALJ, his favorables were significantly higher.
