I had the same kind of problem with judge Johannes. He didn't allow me to testify on my behalf, had his buddy Nicholas Fidanza testify against me and totally ignored the facts from the doctors that wrote reports in my favor. One of those doctors was one of their own doctors they sent me to for evaluation. These judges are treasonous and deserve the ultimate punishment Signe, A victim of judge Johannes

Her record speaks for itself. She is rude and condescending to witnesses and representatives (especially non-attorney reps. She has a clear disdain for non-attorney reps.). She does not rely on the record, does not apply the law to the facts, and allows her personal opinion to govern her decisions, all of which are horrible attributes for any jurist. One fact that needs to be known is that it's believed that she has ruled against every 100% disabled veteran. From the facts that I have, she has a personal bias against veterans. So, veterans beware! If you have a case before AJ Morehead, just remember to prepare the record for an appeal. Also, be prepared to go to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit for a de novo hearing on the record (therefore it is important to have a strong record supporting your case). You will get justice; you'll just have to be patient and pursue it. Tenacity & perseverance are important attributes for a claimant. My client had a case before this AJ. I had to appeal it twice to Falls Church and got it remanded twice. My client received a partial favorable finding after the 1st appeal. Is waiting for a hearing after the 2nd appeal and my client is prepared to take his/her record before the Federal Circuit. By the way, be careful about the record. It seems that they try to prevent the recorded record from getting into the hands of the claimants. This is, of course, a failure in due process. My suggestion would be to bring your own Certified Court Stenographer. Do NOT rely on SSA/ODAR's hearing recording(s). You may not be able to get it in time for an appeal. Most attorneys will not protest this process, because practicing before SSA/ODAR) is how they make their living. It is easier to suck-up to the system than to assure their client due process with an accurate hearing record (or a hearing record at all, if they can't get it). This is part of the problem.

Judge: Michael R Swan

Very reasonable judge. It was very straightforward. He sat behind a slightly raised podium and mostly listened to my counsel's questioning. He stopped to clarify just a few times but it was not intimidating. He did not need the vocational expert. That may not be comforting but it may also be good so...... After 20 minutes, give or take, it ended abruptly. The process and the judge are not as intimidating as it feels. Judge Swan seemed very professional and reasonable.

I haven't recieved a decision as of this date, had my hearing the end of Feb 19. No matter the decision, this Judge was professional, compassionate, and any other quality I would want someone to have who was hearing what is embarrassing to me. I did not represent myself and I was given this Judge's undivided attention.

I retained his services (non existent) when he was a lawyer. He charged a flat fee instead of a percentage. He came totally unprepared and late to the hearing. He advised me to make faces and groan in pain. Really? I gave the judge my report and answered his questions professionally. He awarded the benefits to me. Then Feibus called my house and wanted to change the contract to a percentage. What a unethical person. I told them never contact me again! Zero stars.

Judge: Wesley R Kliner
8/16/2018 6:09:08 AM

I got a unfavorable decision. I can't even think right now. All I can think is I am going to work somehow in pain everyday to try support my daughter whom for the last 5 years has had to do without because her Mother gets fired for not being able to perform or calling in because she couldn't walk due to pain and having too many absences. I have been evicted, lost my car, my credit ruined and my marriage ruined and now I can't even get disability. I am a loser with a teenage daughter that has nothing. I don't know what you have to prove to get a favorable decision. I waited 6 1/2 months to hear bad news. Way to go US government! All hail the USA! Land of the free and home of the brave. Where you can come in from any country and not pay taxes and get free services but if you are born here and work all your life and needs some help, you have to spend months and months waiting on a hearing to see a judge and then wait months and months to get a decision that is likely unfavorable. Spineless were your words Judge Kliner, not mine. You said "you have no spine left" I appreciate your time but had hoped for a different decision.

Judge: Wesley R Kliner
7/23/2018 5:26:56 AM

24 weeks post SSD hearing and I am still waiting. I realize it is not judge Kliner's fault, decision writing at the social security offices have had my case since 4 weeks post hearing. It has almost been 6 months and to say I am stressed is a understatement. I felt very confident when I left the hearing but now I am not confident at all. I feel like I am waiting for bad news. If you are reading this and waiting for an answer, know that 90 days for an answer is not the norm anymore. It can take up to 6 months for an answer post hearing. It has been so long since my hearing that my memory of Judge Kliner is dimming. He was very friendly and very easy to talk to. I hope I get a favorable answer soon.

Judge: Kristen Glover
7/12/2018 7:03:18 AM

This Judge gets zero stars. This approval rate of 24% says it all. Her goal is not to weigh the facts or consider the evidence in an impartial fashion, but it is to scour the record for anything to defeat the claim. What is most objectionable about this Judge is that she takes so long in handing down her decisions. Twelve months is not unusual for this Judge. Claimants who wait two years and more to get his hearing, have to wait close to another year. There is no excuse for this. The average wait to get a decision is three months. Not for this Judge. If you draw this Judge good luck. You will need it.

Judge: William O Gray

I'm very blessed to have a judge like Judge Gray. I was so nervous and scared about the hearing because I'm so young and I have a very unfortunate disease called Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT). It's very similar to ALS. I'm 30 years old and my body is no longer wanting to work right. I can hardly walk, write, or open my hands all the way to hold or grab something I have someone typing for me now, the list is never-ending. I don't want to be like this. I had hopes of a great career. Not struggling the rest of my life. Judge Gray was so amazing. My lawyer and I had time to present my case and answer questions. I feel he is a very understanding, altruistic, benevolent, person. He made me feel at ease even though I was embarrassed about my disease and deformities. You will be lucky to get this Judge. He truly is a phenomenal Judge. It's been almost two weeks since my hearing and I haven't received a decision letter yet, but I know I'll be fine. Thank you, Judge Gray. May God Bless you and your family.

Judge: Henry H. Chambers
6/27/2018 6:36:35 PM

The man is a liar and/or he has attention problem. He lied about not presenting evidence when the evidence was there. Lied about not needing assistance to stand up. Doesn't notice that sitting slightly sideways relieves pressure off my coccyx. Doesn't notice using arm rest to get up. Doesn't notice a woble in gait. He disregards medical evidence in the record. Thinks he's more ecperienced than the medical doctor. He came short of calling one of my GP incompetent when he's the incompetent one for not noticing physicians can share the same last name and work in the same office but licensed for different specialities. He adds information to his review not reviewed with the applicant and without giving the applicant the opportunity to deny or explain his allegations against the applicant. He thinks someone needs to have the same level of pain on a daily basis- which some ppl alledge and may very well be true. To be honest, Chambers needs to be disbarred. The list of LIES he made up and the number of evidence he willfully disregarded can only lead to the following conclusion, Judge Chambers is impartial and a ******.

I have not got my decision yet, it has been 18 weeks since my hearing. I had actually tried to work but Judge Kliner seemed to understand my reasons for trying to work. He had read my case file before meeting me face to face. He was very sweet and made me feel at ease. I struggle everyday with my spine issues and he seem to understand that. It has been a very hard 5 years. This was my second hearing. I was denied by another Judge the first time due to a miscommunication between one of my doctors and my paperwork. I am hopeful this go around and I hope to get a favorable decision, my family had sacrificed and suffered due to my health issues and I am ready to be able to provide for my girls.

Judge Jobe, does not do the one thing judges should do...that is to listen! Secondly, he is very biased against young white males, in particular, and strikes me as an ultra "Left wing" socialist. Social judges tend to be activists, rather than follow the written laws as they should, they do what they want. People like this should never be appointed to any judge-ship position because they tend to misuse their 'given' authority to punish people they personally do not like. Practically all Liberal Socialists are mentally ill and for this very reason, should never serve in the capacity, as judge.

I'm a 100% P&T Disabled Veteran with Major Depression and Major Anxiety (among other physical disabilities) since 2006. After waiting years to apply for SSD and then a couple more for a hearing this "judge" sent me for an evaluation after the first hearing. This "judge" apparently didn't agree with what a Licensed Psychologist or Vocational Rehabilitation person had to say and not only completely left it out of her final decision but as well, left out the VA Decision. She relied heavily on opinions of psychologists who never met me. This "judge's" opinion was that my alcoholism was causing the depression therefore preventing me from working. The psychologist, among several others, say otherwise. I had representation, who obviously didn't do a thorough enough job. My claim went to Falls Church VA, where it was denied. Here is my opinion of this judge, since she apparently uses her own opinion to decide claims. This "judge" is a lesbian whose dad drank heavily, beat her mother and abused her in some fashion. She has a deep hatred for men, especially alcoholics. She needs to keep her personal bias out of decisions and do her **** job. I've had to file a whole new claim. I am still unable to work and haven't since June of 2013. I hate this woman and I will REFUSE to see her if I have to do another ******* hearing.

I had a hearing today with Judge Gray, I was initally very nervous for court today because my last court hearing I was very emotional and not able to convey my case very well to him which brought doubt but after a medical expert was able to explain my back pain the way I was not able I feel that I was understood better, I hoping for a positive response but either way he was very kind and extremely through, he is amazing at what he does and makes sure he gets his cases right and provide a fair judgement. I'm very thankful that he was so through because this could change my son's and my life completely. Very good judge

I shook hands on a deal with the retired judge. He agreed to a price and I left. I was busy fixing a few cars and I called 3 days later to buy the parts. He told me we did not have a contract. I completely understand why this guy's reviews are so bad. Here are my copied text message's to him. Hey, Ron,this is Jay ××××× the Ford guy we left for vacation I still want those parts and I'll honor the deal but I can't get them until the 9th until we come back from vacation. you're more than welcome to drop them off with our nanny and then when I get back I'll give you $300 His response Hey, Jay That's ok, I already boxed them up to move. I now think I will just put them on ebay, I really need $500 for the lot. Gave a nice, safe trip. Wow judge I thought we made a deal His response You didn't seem to really want the stuff and did not come back to pay. No $ to hold the deal indefinitely. After some thought, I can do better. Integrity means a lot to me seems we may never deal again together. A deal is a deal. No matter the type of contract. It's a good lesson for my 6 year old to see people whose word does not mean **** at her age

I got my unfavorable paperwork in the mail yesterday. I could not believe what I have read. There were quotes of things I supposedly said that were never said. He quoted me saying that " I have never lost or been fired from any job because of my disability". I am not a genius but I am pretty sure that the reason why I am trying to get disability is because of the trouble I have keeping and getting work . It makes me sad because I know this **** is making a lot of peoples lives a lot more difficult than it already is. SAD VERY SAD. As of 04/7/17. I have heard he is no longer at this position. Not sure why but not hard to guess

Even after reading all the bad reviews, I went into my hearing with an open mind. Well, from my personal experience, he is even worse than you can possibly imagine. My very own attorney said he was an a-hole!!! That should sum it up for anyone who has the bad luck like me to be assigned to this conceited ass of a man. If you want to see what he looks like, just google a donkey! At least donkeys are cute, there is nothing nice about this man. Good luck if you have him. You will certainly need it. He will totally disregard your own doctors stating you are unable to work. He puts all his weight on the SS doctors who never see you, but break apart your case in the lowest form they can. Judge: William O Gray
11/2/2016 2:47:44 PM

Judge William O. Gray, I am ashamed that my maiden name is Gray, and hope to hell I am not to kin to you in any way. I should have qualified for disability for a number of reasons. I read if you qualify for at least one on the state of Tennessee list you should be approved. I myself suffer from at least 6 or 7, and I am having to look this up as I go, because I have had pneumonia 7 to 8 times, it has left my lungs severely scarred, and I am left with COPD because of that fact. Mt detreating disc alone and because where they are located, my tailbone, keeps me in chronic pain. As far as my mental state by denying me after loosing my daughter and now my sister, you have gave me a death sentence. Mentally I can not control my emotions, but you and Doctors would know that if I had insurance where I could get mental help, as far as my spine, there is no cure, my thyroid is completely gone, I depend on a pill, without this pill I will die....and again I have no insurance, no cure for replacing a whole thyroid either....and then there's my cure for the damage that the pneumonia has done already. You wouldn't let me talk about my past history of my health before 2014, but let me explain why my body is so frail at the age of 42. In 2000 I had to give birth to a dead baby vaginally, her head could not soften and come down the birth canal I started to hemmorrage, they transfused me 9 units of blood in me. as fast as they were giving it to me I was losing it. Then knowing the risk I tried for my fourth child, took shots everyday to thin my blood, but I almost lost him too. I have suffered a lot of brain damage between coding and having pneumonia so many times and I get a letter from you saying DENIED!!! You have killed me, my parents are in their 70's, I can not work, and if you had looked into my last job you would have seen I kept calling in because of my health. Because of my Grave's disease my immune system is compromised, and my Dad is helping me with this comment or I would have forgot to tell you a lot of it. Judges like you, I really don't know how you sleep at night. You had my life in your hands and you crushed me like a bug, well Mr. Gray, ....My Father J. Gray says what comes around goes around you will be judged now by the ultimate judge. I will make copies of this any send it to FB, Every social media I can think of... Ive been suicidal twice. I can not believe you denied me after everything that is wrong with me physically and mentally, it is so negligent. Especially since I know a guy who got disability from a broke leg....that's it,....a broke leg!!!!!!!

Honorable Judge Richard Opp, I can not tell you how wonderful it was to go to court in front of you and see you not only listened to me but you read the medical evidence you looked at everything and was familiar with my record before I walked in the door. You treated me like I was a real person. After years and years of fighting for any help or disability and believing in my heart again I would not get it because of how the last law judge treated me. Like I was dirt and worthless and a lair. Without even concitering any of my medical and throwing out anything that did prove I am disabled. You Sir were a god-sent to be in front of. You were very professional and took my fears away even through my body pain sitting there that day was great. You Sir understood and read the MRI reports and the rest of the evidence. You Sir I can not thank you enough for treating me like I wasn't garbage to be sitting in front of you. I wish more judges ( like you did ) would take the time to read the record and not just say I don't want to be bothered.

Honorable Judge Richard Opp is absolutely honorable and very deserving of that title, he is very fair, if you have a legitimate case and the evidence to back it up he will decide in your favor, you cant ask for anything more. My disability lawyer Casey Cox of of Camas WA, is an awesome disability lawyer and if you want a disability lawyer that will actually work for you and fight for you, he is it. Casey was aggressive, wouldnt take no for an answer, kept right on fighting even after some denials and that is key, dont let SSDI deny you and try and make you think you cant win because you can if you have a legitimate case, consistency is key, attack, attack, attack and we won because of GOD's divine help of course. I must admit that I went before this judge with overwhelming feelings of anxiety but just hoped and prayed for the best outcome based on my truth. Though her statistics show her to be tough, I think it's more that she is a no non sense judge. I found her to be very compassionate as if she was hearing someone like me for the first time ever; I had her undivided attention. She was making reference to my records so that I knew she'd read them. She challenged some of the contents in my records but I never felt bullied. She made me feel that she cared and I honestly believed that she did and could relate to my circumstances and how those circumstances led me to require assistance. I use to say that I want my life back however I have come to accept that it may not even be possible so now I just pray for a normal life again. ALJ McGrath went above and beyond recently, and by his efforts, allowed my client her hearing when there had been a serious miscommunication regarding my client's file (it had been sent to another hearing office by mistake, and the hearing cancelled - all without notice to myself or my client). Another ALJ might have shrugged their shoulders and said nothing could be done, so sorry; ALJ McGrath instead tracked the file down, had it sent back to North, and worked the hearing into his already scheduled docket. While we are still awaiting results, we are grateful to have been able to conduct the hearing as we had planned, especially since my client traveled from TN to Athens for the hearing. I think Judge Ronald J. Feibus has gotten a bad report in the past I went Jan 2016 I thought he was an excellent Judge very respectable and straight to the point. He seems to honestly care about people and he listens. If your faking being disabled he will know these Judges don't have time for people trying to get approved for SSDI, SSI or anything else. Don't go before this Judge without an Attorney and your Attorney needs to do his or her homework!!! Be prepared as a individual but mostly be HONEST have faith in God and be positive! Judge: Windell R Owens
11/18/2015 10:44:19 AM

Judge Owens is VERY thorough, but very fair! He is an excellent Judge in my opinion. As long as the claimant is honest and the rep is prepared, you have a good chance! He does numerous lengthy hypotheticals and asks for the rep's legal theory before testimony.

Judge: Ronald J Feibus
9/21/2015 7:31:22 AM

Didn't think he was awful, at least not at the one hearing I've had before him. Got the feeling he probably doesn't like non-attorney reps too much. He did assert himself and explain things and run the hearing, but he was not insulting or rude. He seemed to want to control how the hearing progressed according to his standards. It's his room; I tried to follow along. Thought he treated me and the claimant respectfully, even if he did at times "instruct" me. Perhaps that tendency to teach may make him seem difficult to attorneys. Having no law degree, I felt he still treated me pretty well.

Very fair judge. He was very polite and very professional. It was obvious that he and the vocational expert had reviewed my medical records beforehand. After almost 3 yrs of fighting and waiting due to my age, he approved my case on the spot. Very grateful.

Judge Frederick McGrath approved my case on yesterday. I believe he's a very witty, smart & compassionate guy....charming & interesting...I may add... My hearing was brief & to the point...The past 21 months of my life has been the most challenging time in my life...happy to know it will get better soon...very thankful I was approved.

How could he deny my son when he has only one ventricle, artificial valve, pacemaker, and arrhythmia, and panic attacks? After waiting 2 1/2 years. I don't understand.

As an attorney, I practice before several Social Security hearings offices and numerous judges throughout the Southeast. My experience with Judge McGrath has been consistently positive, and I have found him to be fair-minded and efficient in his handling of cases where I have appeared before him. While he takes a streamlined, no-nonsense approach to hearings, he appears to do this out of a sense of duty to move his cases efficiently and to minimize delay in resolving claims where claimants have already been required to wait months (or even years) without income leading up to finally getting their day in court.

This Judge knows his job. He gets straight to point and does not waste anytime or taxpayers money. He is well prepared. He has an idea of what his decision will be before the hearing. He shows concern about the claimant and takes everything into consideration. He does his job well without hesitation. He can see right through a person if they are full of BS. Great service for the people!

I appeared before Judge Maclean on January 14th, 2014, and he was very prepared for my case. He was very considerate, and seemed understand my circumstances and my case very well. He is very fair in my opinion. I think he tries to always do what is right for the people. For this reason, I am writing this with hope that Judge Maclean will see this and hopefully, I will get my case handed to the UNDERWRITING DEPARTMENT. I really need your help Mr. Maclean, and I do hope that you will get them to work on my case very soon. I have been waiting, and I called the office today, but all I got was voice mail, and I left 3 messages with no return phone call, or reply. PLEASE HELP ME!! MY CAR WAS REPOSSESSED AND I AM ABOUT TO BECOME HOMELESS! I just don't understand why this process is taking so very long to simply send over to the underwriters...PLEASE HE ME!!!

I appeared before Judge Maclean last week. Judge Mac lean was extremely prepared for my hearing. He wasvery concerned, I felt, for my well being and that of my family. However my attorney, Mr. Shapiro of Herd and Smith, was in my opinion not prepared for the hearing. He failed to produce the pre trial brief requested by Judge Maclean, now a week out, after being given 30 days to complete the brief,my attorneyhas notified me that they have been given additional time to complete the brief and I should anticipate a 2 to 4 month wait before Mr. Maclean makes a final ruling in my case. I do not feel like this is at the Judges request. I believe it is in some way an attempt in the behalf if my attorney to draw out the decision in my case in an effort to increase their revenues received, as a % of my back pay. I don't knowwhat to do I can barely put a meal together for my children and my psychological conditions continue to get worse. Judge Maclean in my opinion will not allow this if he knew the current temperature of my families financial conditions. I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO!! HELP JUDGE MACLEAN

URGENT JUDGE AND NEEDS ATTENTION IN THE WORST WAY. WHAT DO I DO ..I was found disabled back in dec last year. ssi is with holding my monthly check from me that i use to live on. they made a mistake on what to pay my attorney and are now withhoding my ssi because Judge John E. Case re-opened my case after finding i was disabled and added more back-pay. I am about to be evicted because I havent been able to pay my rent on disablity alone which is only $375. my rent is $600 a month and my only source of income is social security. shouldnt that amount that my attorney was owed come from my back pay and not my monthly check im suposed to live on. i called both local and main social security offCie and they tell me there is nothing they can do to help me. Judge if you read this please I beg you to respond to me. I asked my attorney for help and they tell me my case is done and theres nothing they can do either. PLEASE HELP ME. You were a very nice Judge and made me feel comfortable but now i feel overwhelmed that no one wants to help me. Please help. this is real urgent. im sick over it.

I hope this judge can sleep at night. She was not fair. I have not been able to hold down a job in 5+ years. I have RA and a spinal cord injury. I can walk but with extreme pain. I am losing my house and my credit while she thinks I should get a job at a ticket booth for minimum wage.

my first claim was DENIED by this alj, even though he stated in his decision that i did in fact have two severe impairments.. of course the AC kept his ruling intact and my atty filed in federal court. well here it is 6 1/2 yrs from initial filing and 3 yrs after it was denied at appeals council and taken to fdc, my claim was remanded due to ERROR by the alj for NOT giving my treating doctors RFC any weight and going by what the ssa med examiner (which i never saw to begin with)said at some point before my initial denial (which only took a few months to get) hearing was NOT that quick, and also we waited for at least 15-20 minutes before hearing started as the VE was LATE. mind you judge started without the VE, and he finally arrived about 10 minutes before my hearing was over..he heard me answer the last 2 question is all. yet the judge took his opinion that there were thousands of jobs in the national economy within our region that i could do?? i am like the rest of you, i believe he has his mind made up before you go in the door...well, he messed up on this one and now i get a new hearing and hopefully with another judge

It is very important, to have your Primary Care Provider to complete the Residual Functional Capacity(RFC) forms for you. The Judge needs evidence of your total impairment(s) and limitations. The Judge must adhere to the federal guidelines. Your work history will speak for you. If you are 55 or older, and have the appropriate medical evidence and your documents are well organized by you or your representative, this is a plus. Answer all questions honestly, and make sure your paper work is up-to-date. Be prepared to answer questions concerning your Daily Activities. Visit and search for "Social Security Disability Hearings", the videos are very helpful. The Lawyers provides helpful information.

I've had one hearing with this ALJ. He was very professional, calm, and gave claimant a very fair and complete hearing. His award rate has come down a bit over the last year. He will ask some general background questions and then will give you specific direction on how he wants the medical testimony developed. He asks a full range of hypotheticals. He ended up denying this claim for lack of supportive medical but it was still a very fair hearing and a well reasoned decision.

Judge: Frederick McGrath
3/28/2013 2:26:12 PM

Our office has had numerous hearings with Judge McGrath. He has a reputation for scheduling several hearings at the same time and taking them on a first come/first served basis; will start early if you get there early; does NOT like submission of medical records on the day of the hearing. Generally does not ask for opening; lets rep do most of questioning and just cuts in when he has a question. I think he often has a good idea of how he feels about a case and uses the hearing to see if it changes his mind. His award rate is not out of line, so he's not denying everything that comes through the room. (Claimants need to understand it isn't the number of pages of records you have, but how well the opinions are supported by clinical evidence, diagnositic testing and your own credibility).

Judge: Richard A Opp

He seems to be biased towards intelligent men. Somehow, he does not think they are suffering from major depression unless they break verbs and fit into his limited scope of what a depressed man should look like and how they should articulate.

Judge: Frederick McGrath
3/11/2013 7:35:08 AM

Yes he has mind made up before the hearing. He schedules way too many hearings on one given day and they are conducted to quick. Rarely uses a VE. The Jacksonville ODAR is filled with fairly negative ALJs.

Judge: Frederick McGrath
3/7/2013 7:45:47 PM

Judge Frederick McGrath claimed he could not read the RFC filled out by my doctor because "the doctor's handwriting was not completely legible and his signature was indistinguishable." There were approximately 30 cases he ruled on before he saw me the day of my hearing and it seemed like he had already made up his mind on each case before the people even entered the courtroom. He wrote about my mental health in his official ruling even though my claim was entirely a physical case with all of my mental health issues (depression because I am unable to work) being a direct result of my physical disability.

Judge: Frederick McGrath
3/7/2013 6:57:22 PM

I was denied even though I have more than 4,000 pages of medical records, dozens of doctors supporting my claim and submitting written statements, and the court-appointed vocational expert testified that there was not a job I was suitable to do. Mcgrath ruled against this suggestion and said I could do a job that did not require standing, sitting, working with my hands, concentration, memory, interaction with people, and would allow me to lie down for extended periods of time each hour. I also require a caretaker (who is writing this message as I am unable to do so) on a fulltime basis to feed, cloth, bathe, drive, make appointments and manage my dr. schedule, clean, cook, and take care of basically all of my needs/activities of daily living. He made the decision in less than 5 minutes and asked me less than 10 quick questions. His decision was overturned on appeal and has been sent back to be heard in court for a second time. I first applied for disability in 1999 and have spent the last 6 years appealing his ruling. I am going back to court in the next 6 months or so and will let you know who I get and the judgement.

I went for my hearing on July 26th 2012 and I received my denial letter on September 15th 2012. I am assuming it was denied because he did not give much weight to my doctor saying that I cannot work. That is what the letter actually says. I cannot believe they allow judges to go against what the doctors say, why do they even ask for the paperwork if they will just go against it anyway. I am so devastated with the denial but I am not giving up. I will continue to trust God for a good outcome. This judge really needs out of this position.

What a hoot! Seems to have his mind made up by the time we sit down. Holds 6 minute hearings. Gives great weight to RFCs. Somewhat of a "Nero" approach, either thumbs up or thumbs down, without excessive narrative. Does not like substance use or middle aged women with mental health issues.

This is an awful Judge he should not even be on this panel of judges for the determination of what is peoples lively-hood and their only ray of hope. He is rude, uncaring, he should have went to school to be a doctor instead of a judge as he over turns doctors diagnosis and more or calls them liars and feels he is smarter than any of them. He should not be on the bench in any form. This man needs serious help he is a bad person and I can only hope the Government will see through this man and get him off this panel of judges.

Gave an Unfavorable Ruling. This judge re-worded witness statements and cherry-picked medical reports to justify his ruling. Treating Physician diagnosis were discounted in favor of state examiners that have never seem the patient and possibly have not seen the most recent medical tests. Heart condition was quoted as "mild" from a 2007 evaluation while there was a 2010 evaluation rating the condition as "Moderate to Severe with 60% pumping efficiency" that was ignored. Edward Snyder is either biased or incompetent. His approval rate is below both Chattanooga and TN averages.

4/20/2012 2:29:50 PM

Just awful. Even his fellow ALJs can't stand him. He has a burning desire to be the smartest guy in the room...a tall order regardless of the company. That said, his ego can be an advantage. If you don't obstruct his quest to prove his intelligence, he will often debate himself right into awarding the case. Caveat: LOVES to play doctor and evaluate the treatment prescribed. Also, he has had lumbar disc surgery and because he had a generally good outcome, naturally presumes everyone does (refer back to "smartest guy" issue).

Judge: John H Maclean
4/11/2012 2:00:35 PM

If you have notice that he is your judge, be sure to write a pre-hearing memorandum, which he especially appreciates. If it's your first time before him, he may try to test a representative's preparation. Overall, he is respectful to both representatives and claimants. He is always prepared for a hearing, always fair, and does his best to make the right call by applying the regulations the way they were intended. A lot of ALJs could learn a lot from Judge Maclean.
